This book was just so much fun! It totally enthralled me and kept me entertained throughout the entire book. I have not read the first two books in this series, but did not need to to get the gist of this series and fully understand this story. Netgalley offered this as an ARC and I really appreciate the opportunity to read and review this book. Eric and Ariel were the perfect couple for Tara Sivec’s writing. She is always entertaining, but for me, I have to be in the mood for her type of writing, and this time I was. The Naughty Princess Club was very typical of Ms. Sevic and I loved the concept. I am not sure why i didn’t read the first two books in this fairytale series, but i will definitely go back and read the others.
Kiss the Girl is a charming, hilarious, sweet and steamy romance. This third book in the Naughty Princess Club series had me laughing out loud, crying, and swooning over kind, thoughtful and sexy Eric. Ariel is losing everything including her home and possibly the business she started with her best friends. She has lost her confidence after a terrible marriage, and is struggling to survive. It has made her into a surly, sassy, man-hater. With the help of her friends and attentive, flirty, Eric, Ariel begins to find her footing and fight for what she wants. I loved so much about this romance. From the witty banter, awkward situations, and quirky friends to the heartfelt, hilarious and emotional story, it completely captivated my heart. This is a definite must read!
The third instalment in the naughty princess club series from Tara Sivec did not disappoint at all. I was apprehensive because Ariel was not my favourite character from the previous books. She was brash, crazy and has a very colourful language which I am not very comfortable with but I needn’t have worried. This book ended up making me laugh out loud, endure side splits from laughing so hard and garnered me plenty of weird looks from starngers as I was reading it in public. This was a perfect light hearted romantic comedy to relax with at the end of the day and at the same time manages portray strong female characters who are fierce and vulnerable at the same time. I am really sad to say goodbye to these three naughty princesses and their crazy antics but the fact that I can go back and reread them compensates for it a little.
If you are on the lookout for some great rom-coms, this series is perfect for you.
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you Netgalley and St.Martin’s press for providing me a review copy in exchange for a honest review
Tara Sivec can make me smile like no other. This last book in the Naughty Princess Club was the perfect way to end my August. Once again I found myself laughing uncontrollably as the antics of Ariel Waters and her besties in Cindy and Belle continue in their quest to make their Club legitimate and even more successful than they could have ever imagined. Add to that the love interest in Eric Sailor and you've got the consummate good time!
I love how Sivec uses well-known fairytales as the basis for these books. This time around it's The Little Mermaid and let's just say that this Ariel is much more outspoken then I remember! She is the total bada$$ in her trio of friends and she reminded me of many of Sivec's heroines through the years who are no nonsense and say what they feel no matter the consequence. Yet she is beloved by her close-knit group and soon enough even her hardened heart begins to melt when Eric comes to her rescue more than once. Much to her chagrin of course, which makes for incredibly witty scenes.
There is merriment and chaos on almost every page and the way Sivec manages to weave in a sweet romance shows just how talented she is. Not to mention some very sexy moments that add just the right amount of heat amidst all the crazy. I also loved the use of names from the original story, from her Dad as Mr. Triton to Eric's mom, Ursula, not to mention her no-good ex in Sebastian. Their personalities were spot-on and kept me grinning!
I need to go back and read books 1 and 2 as Cindy found her Prince Charming and Belle found her Beast. What a great way to spend an afternoon surrounded by a cast of characters who are simply fun to be around with every turn of the page. The love shines through paired with a loyalty that is unmatched and sincere.
This is the Tara Sivec I have come to love and I happily give Kiss the Girl a huge 4 stars!
This is my first book I have read in the series and I will have to go back and check out the stories of Cindy and Belle.
I liked Ariel from the very first pages with her sassy mouth and take no crap attitude. She does a damn good job of hiding things from those she cares for the most. Keeping her focus on picking her friends up and making the strong confident women but she could stand to listen to a little of her own advice. It's her turn to hit rock bottom and to let others help her for a change. But will she let them?
Eric is everything a woman should look for in a man. His caring and kindness help him to see what Ariel really needs and he has won over her best friends. Not he just needs to climb her walls to find his way in. He knew from the moment he met her life would he interesting. She will be worth the fight.
Will Ariel let her guard down? Can their explosive banter work in their favor?
I love the humor that Ms Sivec add to her writing. It always makes for a fun read even when the subject matter can be heavy.
An adult version of the Little Mermaid!
Ariel Waters and her friends started The Naughty Princess Club after they all wore Disney princess costumes to a Halloween party and decided after to start a at-home stripping business because they all needed to earn a living to support themselves.
Ariel after being foreclosed and having an incident with the police went to stay at the yacht that Eric Sailor owned because her friends were either moving or just married. She had issues with paperwork for The Naughty Princess Club, but Eric slowly worked at her being with him even though the issues with his mother almost ruined it.
Kiss The Girl is the third book in The Naughty Princess Club and is a stand-alone book because the author shows just enough information for the reader to understand what happened in the rest of the series. Plus, it really made me laugh at the stuff that happens to Ariel.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Do you enjoy an unconventional HEA? What about a reinvented fairy tale? Throw in some laughter, naughtiness, and a whole lot of perfectly written romance and you're ready to meet the ladies of the Naughty Princess Club. The storyline is a bit unconventional, but the play on names, snarkiness of the characters, and perfect chemistry make you want the stories to go on and on and on.
Ariel and Eric are the new-age Little Mermaid tale with a twist. I thought Sivec pulled this series, but especially this book, off so well. She gave Ariel so much spunk and fire to match her red hair and all the alpha you wished the movie version of Eric had. They are perfectly opposite and beautifully matched - in wit, in spunk, and in the bedroom.
Any book that makes me want to read the entire series, laugh out loud, and want to jump my husband afterward certainly gets a recommendation in my book. They're all fun, fast reads with the characteristic Sivec flair. You can't go wrong in one-clicking this book or series!
3.5 - "Your boat or mine..?" Stars!
The third book in Tara Sivec’s Naughty Princess Club Series; Kiss the Girl, gives us mouthy princess; Ariel Water’s story. Any Disney aficionado will know immediately who her namesake is, so it will come as no surprise that her potential suitor is none other than Eric Sailor.
"One of these days you are going to get your own fairytale…"
I’ll admit, I did start this one with a little trepidation, as you would expect being a founding member of the club with Cindy and Belle, Ariel has played a pivotal role in the previous two books, and I have been on the fence through those two stories as to whether I actually liked her. I have read this authors work before so her brash, ballsy and outspoken female leads are not new to me, but there has just been something about Ariel that has given me pause.
I refuse to be stupid over a man again…
I liked this one, I didn’t love it, and it was basically because although I liked the independent, take-no-shit attitude Ariel exudes, at times it also made her come across as an ungrateful cow as well. If I was in the position of losing my house and possessions through eviction due to mounting debt and non-payment of my mortgage I would be absolutely mortified.
"You think you have to be this hard-ass, independent woman who can take care of everything on her own..."
To then act like an ungrateful shrew to someone trying to help me out, someone who I have been less than friendly with in the past, who has still stepped up and helped me out when I am at my lowest, just didn’t hit the right note with me.
"I’m not difficult… I’m a fucking delight."
I understood her motivations, and the reasonings as to why she was so prickly towards Eric, but it just went a little bit too far for me on more than one occasion. It was still a pretty entertaining read. Belle and Cindy reigned her in a lot of the time, and it was nice to see the villains get their just desserts.
I’ve felt less than perfect for years… I’ve been mistreated, misplaced, and misunderstood for most of my adult life, but I’m still around…
Great epilogue as well, it was good for all three of the Naughty Princesses get their own happily ever after. On the plus it was good to see a woman reclaim and own her self-confidence again, rather than keep hiding her lack of it behind attitude and snark.
Sexy, Funny and Entertaining! This is the first book that I have read by Tara Sivec and it definitely won’t be my last. This story was just so cute and the play on words of the original Disney Princess Ariel was the icing on the cake.
Ariel Waters is a beautiful woman who has had her self esteem broken by her ex-husband. Constantly being told that she wasn’t pretty enough, not skinny enough, and not good enough, she becomes a cynical bitch, who hates everyone and trusts no one. When she is evicted from her home she is forced to live on a luxury yacht owned by Eric Sailor.
Eric Sailor is a wealthy, man who is part owner of Charming’s Gentleman’s Club. He is also entirely too good looking and he knows it. But he also has the hots for Ariel. Her cynical ways and words turn him on as well as her Hot body. But so far he has been unable to break down her walls. But as Ariel stays on one of his yachts, he slowly teaches her to love herself again.
But just as they get close his conniving mother Ursula enters the picture and makes Ariel’s self esteem flounder. Will Ariel let Ursula get her way? You will need to read to see how this all goes down. Funny, Sexy and hilariously entertaining! Don’t miss this tale.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This twist on the popular fairytale is a lighthearted and amusing read. The sarcasm goes a bit over the top for me and the story is a bit cheesy overall, but amusing nonetheless. While the author has created an absolutely swoon-worthy character in Eric, I did have trouble warming up to Ariel. I'm usually a big fan of sassy, speak your mind women in romance, but Ariel was often contrary just for the sake of being contrary. She does eventually show a somewhat softer side, and in the end, I could see her getting her prince, but my feelings about her played a big part in my middle of road rating of the book. The story is fast-paced and an interesting take on princesses and their Prince Charming's, but this one ended up being just okay for me.
I really liked this story. It was funny, sexy and what I needed after reading a few ‘heavier’ books.
I love the way this was woven with The Little Mermaid and how the author tied in key points without making it a duplicate of the classic Disney film. It’s so far different, with having a few major similarities the same.
This Ariel is NOTHING like Disney’s Ariel. Lol. Well, besides being a stripper, her personality is so completely different. She’s vulgar, cusses like a sailor, eats mass junk food, and doesn’t hold back on what she’s thinking. She has Disney’s Ariel’s qualities such as loves finding and collecting antiques, has a great singing voice and has a flounder fish, several as a matter of fact. That’s about where the similarities end.
I really like how all the other characters are woven in as well...Eric, Ursula, King Triton. Lol. It was fun. I haven’t read the other books in this series but I loved seeing Belle and Cindy.
This wasn’t just all about stripping which I found refreshing. I didn’t want a fluff book, lol. Yes, they strip, yes they have a business called The Naughty Princess Club, but there’s so much more to the story! And just like Disney’s Ariel, this Ariel has to find her voice! She has great friends that help her accomplish just that. Friendship, witty banter, naughty words, and a very swoony Eric and this makes for a fantastic light and funny read!
Ariel has just lost everything due to her ex-husband. When her friends, and the very handsome, yet annoying Eric try to be supportive, it seems like Eric is the only one who knows what she really needs. Will she accept his help or push him away?
Ariel put on a protective barrier one she realized how abusive her ex was. She was never going to let a man hurt her again. Without even realizing it, Eric starts helping her to regain her confidence and trust.
Eric was so swoon-worthy. He knew he wanted her, but that she wouldn't make it easy. He had to find a way to get close, but give her back the power she needed.
Just when things are going good on the personal level, her professional life takes a hit. She has a horrible decision to make and either way set least one heart will be broken. Will Ariel find a way out of the mess? Will Eric get to Kiss the Girl? I really liked how strong all the characters were and how loyal they were to one another. I will definitely read more by this author.
3.75-4 stars. This was a really cute and refreshing book! I was a little weary going into Kiss the Girl. The Disney princess theme could have turned out cheesy and sometimes the humor in Ms. Sivec's books is a little OTT and potty humor-esque. But I was pleasantly surprised and happy I gave this book a try!
This is Ariel and Eric's story. Ariel went through a bad divorce from her ex that left her broke. She and her two friends, Belle and Cindy, started the Naughty Princess Club to make money. They started a mobile-stripping business dressed as Disney princesses. The business is still getting off the ground and not making money yet. Also, Ariel's self esteem is in tatters from her ex's treatment and she finds herself so broke she loses her home. Eric is a businessman and friend of Belle and Cindy's boyfriends. He is interested in Ariel from the moment he meets her and he offers to let her stay on a yacht he owns, which is next door to the yacht he lives on. That leads to friendship and then romance between Ariel and Eric.
Kiss the Girl was a fun read! At first, I wasn't sure if I liked Ariel. She seemed very negative and mean to everyone. But it soon became clear why she acted that way and her attitude improved. I ended up liking her a lot. She was spunky and funny. Eric, I liked from the get-go. He was a perfect hero. He adored Ariel. There were so many subtle (and some obvious) Little Mermaid references. I loved that the story was not an exact modernized copy, but more of a loose interpretation. I thought the Little Mermaid theme was so cute and funny, without being OTT silly. This was an easy, low angst read, too. I never doubted Eric's love for Ariel from the moment they got together. They were definitely made for each other.
Overall, Kiss the Girl was a fun, entertaining read! I will definitely go back and read the first two books in the series, as I loved the glimpses I got of the other two couples. I look forward to reading more from the Naughty Princess Club in the future!
Tara Sivec does it again! Fans of hers can expect the same girl-power friendships, hunky but sensitive men, and strong, unapologetic, snarky heroines that they’ve seen in her Chocoholics series. But because her writing is so sharp, it never feels old. This is the third in her Naughty Princess series, and I absolutely love it, especially the way she takes familiar fairy tales and turns them on their heads. The way she works each familiar character, and it’s obvious which ones make an appearance in this book, is clever and well-thought out. (Side note: I would have spelled Eric’s last name differently, perhaps Sayler or something like it, just to make it a little less obvious). But the chemistry is spot on, the scenes are hot, and the tender moments are “aww-inspiring.” If you’re new to Tara Sivec, be warned that she uses very “tell-it-like-it is” language. I, for one, love it – but it might not be for everyone. Another winning novel by one of my favorite authors. Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Kiss the Girl is the final book in Tara Sivec’s winning The Naughty Princess series. I’ve been anxiously waiting for Ariel’s story, and it was well worth wait.
Of the three “princesses”, Ariel is by far the most uninhibited, ballsy, filter-free, foul mouthed, and just plain fun. Her outlandish antics are usually the catalyst for tear-inducing laughter and embarrassing situations galore.
Based on the previous books, I thought I had a good idea about who Ariel is, but this book shows that looks—and even actions—can be deceiving. Ariel takes her mask off to show us all the self-consciousness and vulnerability she tries to hide.
Ariel incorrectly pegged Eric as a rich playboy and hated him at first sight. It turns out he is the only person who truly understands her. She’s a powder keg that is frequently only a second away from exploding, but somehow Eric always knows how to diffuse her—and that includes distracting her by saying infuriating things. Ariel is stubborn and reluctantly attracted to him. He challenges her, and I enjoyed every moment of their hate/love magnetic connection. I fell hard for Eric’s kind heart right along with Ariel.
The theme of female empowerment is delivered in hilarious and effective ways here, and the strong bond between the three best friends is pure joy.
Kiss the Girl can be read as a standlaone, although references are made to events from the previous two books in the series.
Love this author and pretty much all she does! This was witty and whimsical! Ariel is not a Disney princess, she’s fierce, strong willed and foul mouthed. Eric is the man that might be crazy for falling for her but their coming together story is a fairy tail I can get behind any day of the week!
While I enjoyed Ariel in the previous books of this series, I wasn’t sure that I could love her. She is brash and outspoken, extremely prickly and not your average girl next door. Amazingly enough, I not only liked her, I loved her and this quickly became my favorite book of the three.
When Ariel’s circumstances take a dramatic turn she is left with nothing. Her ex-husband not only destroyed her self-esteem but also left her in financial despair. However, the very annoying Eric Sailor quickly steps in to assist, despite her protestations, and before she knows it she’s finding her true self.
Eric was the perfect mate for Ariel. He knew exactly what to say, when to say it and how to say it to push Ariel into the place she needed to be. And surprisingly, that place was where she could figure out who she was and what she wanted. A place where she could find her voice and speak up for herself as well as her friends. That, in my opinion, is the true definition of a hero.
Along the way there was so much humor, one liners and repeated jokes that built upon themselves, all the while creating a bond between these characters in a fun and charming style. With never a dull moment this story moved at lightning speed. I never knew what to expect from this couple or their friends. When the big conflict arrived I didn’t see it coming and would definitely consider it a twist. And while the resolution felt a bit cheesy, I was grinning and cheering right along with Ariel and her friends.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each of the books in this series and was reminded again of why when we are given a glimpse into the future with a sweet epilogue that highlighted each of the princesses and their princes. Definitely worth reading if you like your romance laced with plenty of humor, friendship and naughtiness.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and St. Martin's Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Kiss the Girl has received wonderful reviews from so many readers that I feel bad in saying that I did not care for this story at all. I have decided that Tara Sivec may not be the author for me.
The description spoke of Ariel as being a woman who has lost her voice and self-confidence. but her brashness said otherwise. Snarky is okay but the way she spoke to her friends sounded more like she was stuck in middle school bad language, mean girl mode. I wasn’t expecting a Disney princess, but liking the main character is important to my enjoying a book. I just never found my way to like Ariel.
4.5 stars
I have been enjoying the Naughty Princess Club series by Tara Sivec so much! In Kiss the Girl she gives us Ariel’s story and I loved it! This time around we get a new take of The Little Mermaid that will leave readers happy and content!
Because of her ex-husband, Ariel is losing everything she worked hard for. Her ex left her feeling like less and she is struggling to find herself again. She has great friends, but her confidence is at rock bottom. Eric seems to push all her buttons, but as they get to know each other, she begins to see a different side of him. Yes, he is a rich and sexy and knows it, but there is so much more to this man. Add in her crazy and supportive friends, some other great secondary characters and an evil woman, and we get another great story!
I have really loved all three books in the series, but there was something about this one as I was reading it! I swooned, laughed and just enjoyed reading it! Three friends who found each other just when they needed the love and support of friends the most. With each other, they are able to stand on their own feet and find love. But it was really the strength of that friendship that got them where they wanted to be and I loved that! I would recommend all three books!
Ariel has finally hit rock bottom. She never imagined her life would lead her where she finds herself: facing the loss of her business, her antique collection, and her home. She vowed to never rely on a man for what she could do herself, so when she finds herself with no one else to help but Eric Sailor, the fiercely independent Ariel fights tooth and nail for what little autonomy she can find.
Eric has long enjoyed watching Ariel react to situations with her own personal brand of fire and sass. He particularly enjoys it when she is sending her snark his way, but he can’t get her to do anything but snap at him, even when he tries to help her out.
I loved that Eric recognized Ariel’s need to feel in control and independent. His ability to read her and find just the right solution to solve her problems without doing much more beyond giving her the tools SHE needs made me fall for him fast and hard. But just because he knows what she needs and is willing to let her take what she needs doesn’t mean she will let him in any further than she ever has before. He has his work cut out for him to convince her that he isn’t out to change who she is.
Ariel’s independent streak ran her into quite a bit of hot water during Kiss the Girl. I enjoyed her spark and heat, but wished she didn’t have to rock bottom quite so hard to learn her lessons. She is a strong character, but learning the reasons she keeps everyone at arm's’ length was tough, especially in such an otherwise funny story.
This was a funny, quick read with just the right amount of humor mixed into the story. The couples from the previous Naughty Princess Club books return to add their own bits of humor to the story as well. As an entire series, this has been entertaining and a fun twist on the traditional tales. I have enjoyed finding the parallels as well as the differences between these hilarious retellings and the classics.
I received a copy for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect the content of my review or my opinion of the books.
