Sweet, fun, full of heart and steam. I loved this story and this series has definitely been at the top of my list for reading. I hope to read more from this series and these characters and more from Tara!
4.5 chuckle inducing stars!! This book was absolutely hilarious!! It really had a little bit of everything which really made it a great story. Funny, sexy and just enough emotions to balance it all out perfectly.
Eric was amazing. Ariel was a little harder to root for, but I loved them together, it was a good story.
Goat yoga. That magnificent epilogue. A sarcastic, ball-threatening heroine and the man who's loved her since the first insult. It's also a slow-burn romance while the girl gets her groove back, a hot millionaire with a smirk to die for, fish tanks and antique hoarding... these are a few of my favorite things (now you're singing it) that I loved about this book. Actually, the whole trilogy is great but Ariel and Eric's romance was the perfect ending. I've never closed a book after both laughing and feeling like the author was writing her words of wisdom for me, not the heroine. Tara Sivec wrote such an amazing book, that I had a silly smile on my face after reaching 100% complete and I can't wait to reread them all.
This is an over the top, in your face, no apology needed ROMANCE. And I for one, loved it!
This is the third book in the naughty princess club series. It honestly doesn't matter if you've read the first two books, this can stand alone but why deprive yourself of these other fabulous stories?
Ariel and Eric (Little Mermaid 'wink') are our two main characters this time around and there are silly, cute little references to the animated movie to keep an eye out for.
Ariel is an absolutely fantastic, modern heroine. She swears profusely, drinks like a fish, eats whatever she likes, is a loyal friend and all round great character.
Eric, for his part is truly heroic, he is secure in his own skin that he allows Ariel to be exactly the woman he fell in love with, without trying to change a single thing about her. He is written in such a way that you know he'd love nothing more than to see the villain off himself but understands Ariel needs to vanquish her own foes.
Tara Sivec has a real knack for hitting all the right emotional notes, happiness, sadness, insecurity, triumph. There is always a great balance of humor to pathos that puts her above many others who try to write romantic comedies.
Can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
Kiss the Girl is the final novel in The Naughty Princess Club serious (unfortunately!) and it finally follows the story of Ariel and Eric. All of these books were a solid 5/5! In classic Tara Sivec style, they were funny while still being sexy!
Ariel is a loud mouth and speaks her mind, especially when it comes to Eric. However, very early on in the book the reader finds out more of her back story - why she has such financial issues, how lousy her ex-husband was and why she's really hurting on the inside. Eric is perfect with her. Right from the beginning he knew just how to handle this hot redhead and how to help give Ariel back her voice.
The journey of Ariel discovering that Eric isn't really this playboy millionaire, but actually just this really great guy who genuinely cares about Ariel is just magical. It makes me want to swoon just thinking about it. And if you didn't think the story was already perfect enough, just want until you get to the twist with Ursula. Love, love, love!!
Rated a great big 5/5 - highly recommend this novel and the entire series!
4.5 stars! Loved this series! Ariel is such a feisty character that you have to just love. This was the third book in this series and it was fantastic! Great writing and story by a talented author.
Kiss the Girl was laugh-out-loud funny, sweet and empowering, I loved everything about it! This was everything I could have wanted and so much more. It's exciting and inviting with these amazing characters and it was just super fun to read.
I absolutely adored Eric and Ariel! They had this tumultuous and antagonistic relationship that was snarky, fun and sweet. I loved their bickering and Ariel’s comebacks. I loved their chemistry and simmering sexual tension. Ariel was so much more than I thought she'd be and I loved getting to know her. She's a bit mouthy and feisty but I loved seeing her softer side, it was awesome. Eric had to be the sweetest man ever, totally swoon worthy! Being there for Ariel as she worked things out, as she found her way to the strong woman she was meant to be. Their relationship was was sweet and sexy and explosive but it was also heartfelt and emotional.
Ariel, Cindy, and Belle. I loved them, their friendships, how they're their for each other and build each other up. There were so many empowering moments and I had this I am woman hear me roar feeling happening. It was so much more than a love story. It's about friendships, owning who you are and believing in yourself, being strong, people in, and surrounding yourself with goodness.
This was just so entertaining with this great humor that had me laughing my way through it. Tara Sivec has a knack for perfect comedic timing. I adored all the fairy tale tie-ins. They were so smartly done and I loved seeing those connections.
I couldn't have asked for more. The delivery, characters, humor (oh the humor!), the empowerment and love. I couldn't get enough. By the end, I was all kinds of warm and squishy. Excellent epilogue too! Loved every second!
Tara Sivec is a new to me author but I've heard her name repeatedly in many of my book groups. When I saw Kiss the Girl was available for review, I jumped at the chance to review it. And damn am I glad that I did! Her premise of taking a beloved fairytale and twisting it into a modern-day enemies-to-lovers narrative was brilliantly executed and it was an absolute joy to read! While there are two other books in this series, I was able to easily start with this book and follow along. It reads as a standalone but I can tell there were some spoilers from earlier books. I'm looking forward to going back to read the first two because if they are even half as entertaining as Kiss the Girl then I'm sold!!!
I love Sivec's take on The Little Mermaid. Ariel was a total fireball. She's brash, bossy, foul-mouthed and her dark sense of humor was right up my alley. But she had a soft side that Eric was able to bring out in her once he broke through her walls. He was the perfect hero to tame this wild child. He's worthy of the prized book boyfriend title and will sweep readers off their feet with his princely ways. Ariel's besties, Belle and Cindy were a hoot. Drunk princesses? Yes, please! Princesses exacting revenge? Oh yeah! I laughed so much while reading this book. It was outrageous in all the best ways. If this is indicative of Sivec's writing as a whole, count me in as her newest fan. Kiss the Girl is a must read book!
I love this smart mouthed princess. Ariel has always been my favorite, and Kiss the Girl made me love her even more. So many laughs, and crazy shenanigans with this group. I wish there was more coming.
Eric and Ariel forever.
This was a new author for me and I really enjoyed this book. It was so fun to read - I'm going to look for the rest of the series. The characters were very interesting and their interaction was priceless. You wouldn't think they would work, but they did. Ariel was a hoot and would be a great friend to have. All in all, a fun book about friendship, relationships and love. I got ths book from NetGalley for an honest review
I received this ARC for an honest review. I LOVE THIS SERIES! I am bummed that it is over. I loved every sentence. This book is about Ariel and Eric. I love Ariel's smart mouth. I can relate with her with the self esteem issues. Ariel had an horrible ex who always put her down. Afte the divorce she was determined to never let someone else dictate who she is. Eric is more than the playboy Ariel thinks he is. Eric supports her in every way. There is so much more to this story, but you just HAVE TO READ IT. I found myself laughing throughout the story. I finished it in 1 day. I just love how Tara Sivec mind works. This a a fitting end to the series, but I hate to let them go. I just want MORE!
Ariel comes across as sarcastic and antagonistic but underneath her brittle shell lays a woman whose self confidence has hit an all time low due to ex. If that isn’t enough because of him she is about to lose the possessions she treasures the most as well as her home.
Eric has a way of getting under her skin whenever they interact. He may be the one person who sees beneath her bluster to the woman underneath that he wants. When her life is about to hit rock bottom he is the one that offers her a lifeline.
As they spend time together without irritating each other she begins to see the kind sensitive side that she overlooked but obstacles must be overcome and that includes her past.
I really enjoyed the humorous banter and hot chemistry between Eric and Ariel as well as seeing their fairy tale happy ever after come trust. It was also great to see the bond she had with her two girlfriends. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This isn't your childhood fairytale!
If this story really took place Under the Sea, the oceans would be boiling with all the heat generated between Ariel and Eric! I absolutely fell in love with Eric right from the start. His unwavering devotion to Ariel was downright swoon-worthy, especially since it was quite a while before she started deserving it.
Ariel's life is imploding after her marriage shredded her confidence. Eric knows exactly what to do to help her find her voice again, and his patience is exceeded only by his fierce passion for every part of her life.
This hilarious story is more than just a romantic fairytale. Told entirely from Ariel's POV, her inner monologue is witty and insightful at the same time. Some of the lines had me snort-laughing so much I had to stop reading for a while.
The author worked some true magic with her words, bringing so much heart and humor to what might otherwise have been a predictable story. The nods to the original source material are creative and ingenious, without ever straying from a realistic foundation.
Brilliantly written, this story was pure romance gold. It's found a permanent place on my reread list. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Ariel is known for her gruff manner and foul mouth and she displays her abilities in their finest of lights when anyone crosses her, maybe even dares to breath near her... Ariel finds herself evicted from her home with all her precious collections locked inside after blissfully ignoring all the warning, certified letters are warnings right? In rides her prince charming, or rather Prince Hot Stuff or so he's titled himself, I meant he only has muscled arms and panty melting dimples oh and a yacht she can live on, no big deal. I loved their witty banter and insults Ariel flings at Eric, it had my sides splitting!
I love the modern take on a fairy tale!
I liked the overall story of the book. Not to often you see story about a group of girls trying to make it in the stripper/dance business. Ariel is the loud mouthed raunchie friend who has no filter. I struggled to like her from the get go. If I had a friend who talked to me like the way she treats her friends, I would probably tell her to take a long walk off of a short pier. She yelled and screamed at them for no apparent reason. The more you get into the story I came to realize that Ariel was that way because she was insecure about a lot of things. Eric, I adored him. You could just tell from the get go that he liked Ariel even though she claimed to hate his guts. He brings out the good in her is the calm to her crazy. This book has a bit of humor, not as much as a lot of Ms Sivec’s other books, but enough that sometimes I was laughing out loud. Ariel and Eric have a lot hot moments together and some good chemistry. Cute read and I look forward to reading more of her work.
The Little Mermaid or in this book Kiss the Girl or is one of my favorite fairytales because I identify with the brash girl who collects precious things, in my case it's books. I've devoured this contemporary adaptation of this trio of Cinderella, Belle and Ariel. They nod to the characters and keep loosely to the storyline with Sivec's unique naughty comedic wit! Who would have thunk to make these young women strippers? We get our HEA and a lap dance! I love it!
In the previous books Ariel has been the driving force and a huge comedic relief, but in her own book things are getting real in her life and she's not dealing very well. Thank goodness for her bff's and that rascal Eric who always seem to know the best way to rescue Ariel until she can do it for herself. I felt her helplessness when confronted with the huge issues that have piled so high that there are very real consequences. Eric seems to know just the right way to aggravate her to pull her back to being herself when she's crumbling.
It's easy to see why Eric is drawn to Ariel with the woman who raised him being so much like her. He's got a good heart, not just everyone would bring home a hairless cat, poker winnings or not! Derrick Alfredo is hysterical and a welcome distraction for this couple who as they circle each other. I would have enjoyed Eric's POV, his quick wit and smart mouth would have been very welcome.
There are plenty of outside influences keeping Ariel upset and on edge. I loved her posse going to handle her ex and the antics of her father. I was laughing out loud so many times throughout the book. The common theme in each book is these girls are down but not out and with a little help from their friends and support from a good man they can fix their own lives. The epilogue wrapped up the first two books into a nice meet package. I'm sad the trilogy is complete, I hope down the road Sivec revisits these characters!
There are very few authors out there that have been automatic 1-click authors for me, and even fewer who consistently stay on that list. Tara made this list years ago, and never once has she let me down! Her latest, Kiss the Girl was no exception, I loved this book!
Being the third book in the series, I was already thoroughly prepped on Ariel and her take no sh*t attitude. She's been the driving force behind the Naughty Princess Club, and I was so excited to finally get into her head! Once we got into Ariel's head just a little bit, it was easy to see we had her pegged wrong. Ariel has had a rough life, and buried beneath her foul-mouthed exterior is a lost woman. Lately, I have found it harder and harder to relate to the heroines I've been reading, but something in Ariel connected with me. Maybe it was the swearing, or maybe it was the carefully constructed facade that hides the truth. I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt, so I related to Ariel on so many levels!
Belle, Ariel and Cindy are three peas in a pod, and I love their antics! I loved the way they take each other's back and support each other. I also love that they don't sit back and offer the sage advice we so often hear in our romance novels. I love sage advice, but it so rarely happens in real life. In real life, or, at least, in MY life, my friends are very similar to these girls. We don't sit around painting each other's nails and doing facials, we saddle up and have come very close to needing bail money in the past. (It happens... don't ask) Maybe this is one of the reasons I love the Naughty Princesses so much?
Then there's Eric. I may be biased since he shares a name (different spelling) with my soon-to-be husband, but pair the name and my affinity for Disney Princesses, and this was a total recipe for me to swoon! Eric was the right combination of alpha male and cheerleader. He didn't swoop in and solve all of Ariel's problems, he let her take back control of her own life, while also being her lifeline and cheerleader. I loved that he encouraged her to save herself!
As with any Little Mermaid story, we had our share of villains, including the evil Ursula, and some other unexpected twists from the beloved Sebastian... but I won't spoil those story-lines for you!
I have to admit, I wasn’t sure if I would like this book in the beginning. Ariel was such a b!itch. The way she speaks to her friends shocked me and my first though was “What the hell am I reading?” I pushed through and I’m glad I did. This isn’t my favorite book, but it was a quick, fun escape from reality.
I will warn you, Ariel and her mouth and attitude is not for everyone. Once I got past the first chapter or two I really enjoyed Ariel and Eric’s story. I really, really, LOVED Eric. OMG talk about the perfect man. I loved the way he lifter her up, helped her see her beauty. Helped her find her confidence and self-worth. Their romance and love was the best part of the book.
The overuse of Disney’s The Little Mermaid names was a bit absurd. Yes, I get it that this is a play on The Little Mermaid, but it did turn me off a bit. I’m sure there are many others who loved it, this is just my opinion.
**I requested and received an advanced copy, provided by NetGalley and the publisher, and I am voluntarily providing an honest review**
I really loved Kiss the Girl by Tara Sivec. The author did an amazing job with the characters. I loved the journey to HEA. Ariel and Eric are great together. They have hurdles to overcome, but they do a spending job. Ariel has a potty mouth but it works for her. It is a bit steamy. It was still a pretty awesome book. It was like going on a book vacation.
