This is a sexy novella about two people whose lives are completely different. Rory can’t go anywhere without being recognised and Amelia has trouble with finding the right guy.
It was exactly what I needed when I wanted to read something fun and even though it’s my first read by this author and also a novella, I’m sure I’ll be reading her books in the future.
4,5 stars.
The beginning of this book..... not my favorite. I hated what happened to Amelia and honestly I usually don’t read or continue books with any kind of cheating (even virtual, unknowing) in them.
I really didn’t like how quickly Amelia and Rory just jumped in bed together. It felt too spontaneous and quick.
This was an ok read, but I wouldn’t really recommend it to my friends.
This is the first book of The Claddagh Trilogy. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
Amelia has had a streak of bad luck when it comes to men. Even in Ireland, her luck remains terrible. There she meets Rory who wants more than a few days. Figuring he belongs in the same category, Amelia leaves. By chance Rory flies to America, where he and Amelia meet again. It's a fun book. Hopefully the next two books are just as good.
Amelia was ready to leave her past behind her. A broken engagement led her across the pond to Ireland. Surprising someone she met online didn’t go as she expected. A string of bad luck with men seems to be the norm for her and she is ready to try a one night stand. She would never see Rory again and his wicked tongue would never make her laugh once she went back home. First of all, never assume anything since you never know what can happen next. A chance encounter led to so much more.
Overall a fun story, although there were a couple of times I found myself rolling my eyes at the absurdity of what was happening.
The Irish Affair by Amanda Heartley was such a fun novel! When Amelia's online love affair goes wrong, which she finds out AFTER she travels across the pond to surprise her Irish paramour, she winds up in a bar where she meets Rory who turns out to be the type of Irishman that she really would like to know better. So she gets to know him A LOT better! Unfortunately, the one thing she doesn't know is that he is an international superstar musician because she doesn't like country music.
Amelia heads back to NY, knowing that the love affair is over and she'll never see Rory again, but will she? I loved reading about Amelia and Rory and laughed out loud at many of their antics. This was truly a pleasure to read and I've left it on my Kindle so I can read it again. Oh, did I mention it's also very romantic and steamy? Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC for my honest review.
Received from NetGalley
Irish Affair is cute, steamy fast pace read, with lots of swoon worthy moment. I read it in one sitting and really enjoy it!.
Amelia flies to Ireland to surprise a guy she fell in love in over the Internet, only to find out she is married. Devastated she sits in bad, where good looking guy sits next to her and just wants to talk. He is rising music star, that need a bit of piece to write new songs and she has no idea who he is. :) Even though it seem like there is no future, their felling slowly deepen.
It’s a start of lovely relationship, but there are many obstacles before happy ever after. :)
This book was so amazing! I love how she went to Ireland looking for someone else and got Ben instead. Their story is so hilarious and great to follow. I love how they fall in love.
Another great read that I really enjoyed it was funny and enjoyable read and I would totally recommend reading it was intriguing and suspenseful
Irish Affair by Amanda Heartley was book, which I got when I promised an honest review. Thanks to NetGalley and Amanda Heartley for a free ARC ebook.
I liked this book, but there was some things what makes quite sad. Maybe one thing was that this book was quite short. Well, it seems short when I read this whole book like in 2hours. So it takes only so little time. What I don't think so good thing. Somehow I feel pity because how Amelia feels after finding her boyfriend but also there was many other feelings. It was quite ok book, but I think there was some more. But maybe sometimes I will read other books by Amanda Heartley, when I see if there is some more.
A brilliant read with a brilliant storyline and characters and I will look forward to reading more from you from this author thank you for my arc
Wow, this book is written so badly. Page 2 BAMM practically a sex scene. Almost every second ;page is a sex scene. if i wanted to read so much sex scene's i would read 50 shades of grey. I think the under lying story is good and i would have liked it more had there not been soooooo many sex scene's in this book. Not going to finish this trilogy.
I enjoyed the Irish story best. Some parts seemed pretty unrealistic. But I get what the point was. Not sure if I’ll read the next book in the series.
The typical Irish accent and humour always appeals to me. So Rory was absolutely funny and delightful. As a European famous singer, he meets Amelia who is unaware of his fame. They meet at a pub, when Amelia is trying to drown out the fact that she is a total loser when it comes to picking out men. First she is ditched by her boyfriend for another guy. And then, when she hops on a plane on a whim, to surprise her new online boyfriend, only to find out he is married.
When a strange, but funny guy, offers to show her around Ireland, she accepts. Rather then going back home directly to face her parents 'I-told-you-so'. Realizing Rory and she will never get involved, since they live worlds apart, she and Rory have a lot of fun. But then, she decides to leave, without giving her full name or address.
Imagine her surprise, when at home her sister takes her (unknowingly) to a new discovery: an Irish singer... The attraction between Rory and Amelia still is there. But can this romance survive time and space? Find out for yourself in this hot and funny romance. Three out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
I haven't read many romance novels but when I saw this cover and title, I just had to read it and I have no regrets. It was a cute story about an American woman named Amelia who packs up and goes to Ireland in order to surprise a man with whom she had been in contact. Needless to say that doesn't work out the way she expected but naturally she meets someone else, Rory, while she was drowning her sorrows at the local pub. Rory has his own secret that he wants to keep to himself for a bit but manages to sweep Amelia off her feet and into the bedroom. Eventually, reality sets in and Amelia and Rory are faced with some challenges but that doesn't stop them for being cute and frisky while they decide where this relationship is going.
This book starts a trilogy and I liked it that much that I had to immediately download the other 2 books so that I could finish the series. It is a fun and fast read. I loved Rory and his sister and Amelia's sister. I admit that Amelia got on my nerves a bit at times but other than that, it was good. I look forward to reading the other books in the series.
Thanks to NetGalley, Amanda Heartley for a free ARC ebook.
A quick and steamy read! I'm on an Irish kick lately! I love Rory's character and seriously need one of my own!
Amelia travels to Dublin to meet the man of her dreams after their on-line romance despite her family warning her that its bound to fail. She is heartbroken to find they are right and decides to drown her sorrows by spending one night with the handsome man she meets in the pub. But everyone has their secrets and things start to get complicated.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Amanda Heartley is a new author to me but not for long since reading this book.
It's a contemporary love story that revolves around Rory, an Irish country singer... I know, right?, and Amelia, a woman who flew to Ireland on a whim to meet the guy she's been texting for a few months. After the disaster of the first face-to-face meeting of him she goes to pub and starts drinking. That's where she meets Rory.
He's devastatingly handsome, sweet, kind and funny... oooh and that Irish brogue ,who can resist that??
In her mind it's only going to be a quick two night fling buuttt....
This book is a fast paced, fun, laugh out loud at times, smile often and just plain awesome romance.
Can't wait to read the next one.
Amelia has sworn off men after coming all the way to Dublin, Ireland, to find out the man she met on-line was no better than her cheating ex. She’s nursing her bruised feelings in an Irish pub when she meets Rory Maguire. Being attracted to each other, they have a two-night stand before Amelia returns home leaving Rory without a real good-bye and no way to find her. While Amelia is re-building her life back home, Rory gets a chance to come to America. After an unexpected meeting, Amelia and Rory reconnect, and Amelia has to decide whether she can trust her own judgement and more importantly can she trust Rory with her heart.
This was a delightful romance with its ups and downs before reaching the HFN ending. Since this is the first of a trilogy I imagine we will see more of this couple in the following stories. The storyline is well developed, with interesting characters. The narrative flows easily, changing POVs between the H & h. I recommend this as a quick sweet and appealing read!
This was a fast paced read nonetheless I really enjoyed it. The characters had great chemistry and there were some funny moments, steamy moments, and a few dramatic moments. Rory was a great character who made you laugh and swoon, I enjoyed him. Amelia was sweet, yet she was starting to make me mad with the way she kept running away and keeping Rory at arms length but she finally came around and I can't wait to continue the series.
