Fast paced and darkly intriguing. This is the third book. It's possible to read as a standalone but it would be beneficial to read the previous two first as i did.

Even though the story is told in the present dealing with the investigation and in the past leading up to the fire it's so naturally done that it doesn't cause any problems. Brilliant as always.

I have read two other books by this author and really loved them. I loved the location of this book, as I was brought up in North Oxford and live In Poole, so it was perfect from.
However I did not enjoy the plot as much as the previous books. I felt that at times it became a little tedious with emails and stuff like that. It is a shame, as I really enjoy her work.
I will look forward to reading more by her. Thank you

Another brilliant read from Hunter, you honestly didn’t know who had lit the fire right up until the end nor who had survived or who had been killed and why!
The pace of the book was a little slower than the second book, in the DI Fawley series, and it for this reason only, I am giving it four stars rather than five. It didn’t keep me as gripped as the 2nd book did (which I literally read just before this one). So I was a little disappointed, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a fantastic book, it was just compared to the 2nd it fell short a little. Maybe my expectations were TOO high; I should have taken a break in between!
It was still expertly written and has well-constructed characters, and if you have read the first two books, you will want to read this one for the follow-on stories of all the detectives and their lives.
This book has flashbacks counting down the days to the fire giving you the Esmond’s side of the story so you could really see the real side of the story happening and don’t just have to rely on the police work. It also has Hunter’s signature style of no chapters, but it is broken apart by newspaper articles and e-mails.
Overall an excellent read and I’m really hoping there will be a fourth to the series!

No Way Out, a very apt title which the reader will only fully appreciate when they have finished reading this novel. It was a cracking read with good pace, intrigue and an excellent plot. I particularly liked the way the investigating team’s own personal tragedies were inwardly explored whilst seeing similar events in other people’s lives.
My only criticism was the random reproduction of newspaper stories together with reader’s comments. We can all imagine the types of comments without them being articulated. I must confess to having questioned the ability to triangulate a sat phone’s position but after some research it seems the inbuilt GPS within the phone includes positional data along with the audio channel.

Title sums up this complex story. Lots of twists, worked out some but not the whole. Gripping and exciting. Nice ending.

A taut detective thriller involving a harrowing house fire, family victims and suspects. The senior detective has family problems himself (don't they all these days) but these do not overly detract from the casework. His team is a good mix with the characters developing well throughout the book. The story is well written and well paced whilst keeping up the suspense. Oddly interspersed with the main story are vignettes from the Oxford Mail online, tweets/twitters and other modern media frippery. To me they are mostly annoying and many are irrelevant but they are symptomatic of modern life I suppose. They do portray what seems to be the norm of jumping from one topic to another with barely a breathe between let alone a logical flow. At least the title lines are in bold in the current version so the reader can skip read and get back to the real story. Overall I enjoyed the book and will search out the other ones with DI Fawley.

I love Cara Hunter's books I have thoroughly enjoyed them and this one is no different, it grips you from the start and keeps pulling you into the story right upto the very last page
This book revolves around a family Micheal, Samantha, Matty and Zachary. Seem like the perfect family from the outside but as you progress through the book you will start to see the cracks and how Micheal is struggling to keep his head above water.
There is also a beautiful blonde young man who appears and offers Sam his services to work in the garden which gradually extends to the odd job in the house and becomes Mattys best friend
But why is Michael so upset about this??
The book takes lots of twists and turns and at times is heart wrenching but the truth must out .........but what is the truth?
And why does Michaels brother make an unscheduled visit Philip is usually on his boat somewhere in the world
Brilliant book again Cara can't wait for next one

Well I am definitely the odd one out here. I LOVED Cara Hunter's first book, "Close to Home." But this was just not for me. I dont know why exactly, I just couldn't get into it so much and found it a bit boring. I started to lose interest about 40% of the way through. The description sounded so good too. Unfortunately it's a miss for me but chances are most others will enjoy it seeing as so far the ratings and reviews for this have been all very positive. So for that reason, I would recommend it.

What an intriguing and unusual detective story! I raced through this book, the third in the DI Fawley crime novels. I have not read the previous books, so the few references to incidents in those books were lost on me. But no matter, because this is such a good standalone story ; intriguing, puzzling, poignant, sad - I could not put it down. The plotting of the storyline is first class, and the method of writing two stories, the main one as the investigation proceeds, and the other written in the weeks and months leading up to this tragedy, was such a clever device by the author. It allowed the characters of the family members involved in the fire to be fully drawn, with the unique family dynamic beautifully portrayed. I was completely drawn into this narrative, and the continuing twists and turns of the story had me hooked, right to the very unexpected but satisfying ending. I have since purchased another of Cara Hunter’s DI Fawley novels, I enjoyed this one so much.
The only reason I have not given five stars is down to the use of random news stories, and particularly, social media comments at the start of several sections of the story. Reading these introduced a jarring note for me, and the nastiness illustrated by some of these comments distracts from the otherwise excellent writing, whilst adding nothing to the book. These could easily be cut from the script without any loss to the story.
This is a very enjoyable novel, I look forward to the next from Cara Hunter, and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

With all the elements that we’ve come to expect for an excellent police procedural, Cara Hunter’s, ‘No Way Out’ looks like another sure fire winner for this gifted author.

It’s the third in the series, and this particular story begins at the scene of a house fire in North Oxford. Two children are pulled from the wreckage of the fire - three year old Zachary is already dead and his older brother Matty is in a critical state, and the prognosis isn’t good. It looks like the children were home alone, (there being no sign of their mother) and their father, who is attending a conference in London isn’t answering his phone. What makes this tragedy even worse is that all the evidence points to the fire having been started deliberately.

DI Adam Fawley and his team have a particularly poignant case to deal with here - not only are there children involved, but it was around Christmas time as well, and although DI Fawley’s team are an eclectic bunch, they’re nothing if not tenacious, and this case will eat away at them like no other has, and none of them will rest until they’ve resolved it.

Oh gosh, this case was like peeling away the layers of an onion, each layer revealing a little more until it gets right to the heart of the crime. The narrative flits between past and present, allowing us to gain great insight into this family unit, and ultimately how and why this tragedy came about.

DI Fawley takes something of a backseat this time around, but that allows the others in his team to shine and I loved that. As ever, Cara Hunter has produced a storyline that has great pace and lots of twists and turns, with a truly neat little twist at the end. I can’t wait for the next in the series- though I guess I’ll have to!

This book is fantastic. .. The characters are well rounded and very human. The plot was unusual with just the right about of twists and turns to make it plausible and enjoyable. .
The police investigation was very lifelike and accurate which I enjoyed. . I also loved the two tails to this story, the investigation in the now and the storyline pre fire... this kept me glued. . One small point its Misper not Missper but this could vary in different police forces.
A brilliant read that I couldn't wait to come back to each day. ....

Some hard bits to read through with the children being involved in the fire but keeps you guessing throughout.

Really enjoyed this book and the stories are going from strength to strength.

No Way Out is a brilliant police procedural book,the third in the Adam Fawley series though it is a good stand alone .It is a gritty story involving a Mother and her two children in a burning house ,it is arson who would do such a thing ?This is such a heart wrenching case that Fawley and his team are determined to solve .I like the way the story goes back to the time before the fire leading up to the fire and also back to the present I think this is very clever and tells the story more fully .This story twists and turns and nothing is as it seems ,such a hard book to put down it grips you from the beginning .I particularly liked the ending and look forward to reading the next book in the series .Many thanks to the Publishers ,the Author and NetGalley for my preview copy in return for an honest review .

This was the first Cara Hunter book I have read and it didn't disappoint. The subject was dark and troubling and would touch every parent. It was well written with enough to keep you guessing until the end. I would recommend.

Overall I did enjoy this book. I liked the narrative and especially how it was told in the present and in the lead up to the fire that takes place and is the main storyline in this book.
I enjoy novels where you get to know the less detective on both a professional and personal level and this book certainly gave that.
It’s a good storyline that keeps you guessing until the end. One thing I found really difficult to grasp was the scripts and interviews and social media posts that were throughout the book, as well as some of the comments in the social media posts - of which some were quite distasteful and not really mecessary.

This book kept me guessing all the way through.

I’m pleased to say although my ‘who done it’ was right but for the wrong reasons. I love it when the author leads you into a false sense of security!

The story was told from 2 different time periods ending at the same date. This kept the story fresh.

I loved the first 2 books in this series and really enjoyed the storyline of this one, there were some spelling & formatting issues, a few sentences appeared to end earlier than they should which is the only thing stopping me rating this a 5/5

I seriously love this book. Its very different from others that I have read. There are no chapters. The author gives voice to almost all the characters. Even the victims. You are kept guessing until the end, Recommended...

Having recently read and enjoyed both previous books in this series I was very excited to be given the chance to read her third novel, No Way Out.
A very fast paced and strong storyline with plenty of twists and turns that keep the readers interest. Highly recommended.
