This is the first book I’ve read in this series. I understand that there is at least one book ahead of this one. It was good but I found it a little predictable and depends a little on sensationalism. Kyle is the main character of the story. He comes from a Mennonite family that lives in a community of Mennonites and Amish. Kyle’s parents have died, he’s moved away and has graduated from medical school. The family doctor in his hometown is ready to retire and offers Kyle his practice. It’s almost one issue needs to be more sensational than the next one. It’s a good book but, in my opinion, not a great book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy for my honest opinion.

This endearing story and characters will have you rooting for each. Filled with partial secrets, surprises, and suspense this book you will not want to put down. When ideas on how things are to be done and the difference in lifestyle put a stress on Kyle and Leah will they be able to find common ground and move forward. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Thank you Rachel.

I couldn't wait to read this book. Many things are still unknown about midwives, but I have to stay Rachel Good hit this one out of the park. One of the reasons why I wait patienlty for her books to come out.

Kyle Miller never planned on becoming a country doctor. But when he's offered a medical practice in his sleepy hometown, Kyle knows he must return... and face the painful past he left behind. Except the Amish community isn't quite ready for Kyle. Especially the pretty midwife who refuses to compromise her traditions with his modern medicine...

The more Leah Stoltzfus works with the handsome Englisch doctor, the more she finds herself caught between the expectations of her family and her own hopes for the future. It will take one surprising revelation and one helpless baby in need of love to show Leah and Kyle that their bond may be greater than their differences... if Leah can find the courage to follow her heart.

In the Amish Midwife's Secret it is clearly written how Good does her research in depth to bring her stories alive. I loved every bit of this story from the characters to the story line. Good has a way in her writings to pull in to the stories that makes you feel your right there in middle of everything that is going .

I give this book a 5 star and recommend this book.

An easy, sweet Amish read that will definitely appeal to a wide variety of readers. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was a tad formulaic and easy to figure out how it would all end, but it still was worth the read.

This was the first book I have read by Rachel Good but I would most certainly read more from her in the future. Good is very gifted at drawing true to life flawed characters that are easy to connect to and root for throughout the book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. The views given are my own. #TheAmishMidwifesSecret #NetGalley #ForeverGrandCentralPublishing

Rachel J. Good takes you right in the heart of the Amish community in The Amish Midwife's Secret and you'll feel like you are in their midst. The descriptions will draw you in and you will feel like you in the store, the doctors office and home, and you'll hear buggy's trotting down the road.

As I settled in, I became entwined in their lives and with strong deep characters, I wanted to know more about everyone of them. I especially love Leah, who is finding what matters most in her life. She struggles with finding a balance between her personal life and her hopes to become a midwife. Kyle came in close behind with many different obstacles in his life as well.

Reading about their lives, you'll come to realize that despite our differences in the way we live, the Amish have many of the same trails that we do. I'm reminded with God, forgiveness is always possible.

A Great read!

I was given a copy of this book by the author but I was not required to post a positive review.

Rachel Good is a gifted writer of Amish fiction, and in this book she’s given us an absorbing story of love, forgiveness, and sacrifice. Leah and Kyle both have secrets and regrets from their past. Kyle is faced with a huge decision about his future. Leah is struggling with giving up a career she loves and giving it up to become the traditional Amish wife to meet the expectations of her intended. Both Kyle and Leah are confronted with separate challenges that they never expected. Their two lifestyles, Amish and English, seem impossible to reconcile. As they face an uncertain future, they find that their faith is the key to untangling circumstances that seem impossible.

This is a clean, sweet story with no foul language or embarrassing scenes. I enjoyed reading Kyle and Leah’s story, and I’ll be looking forward to more books from this author.

-thank you so very much to Netgalley and to Forever Romance publishing for sending me this eARC in exchange for my honest review-

Rachel has done it again! Her first book in this series was heartwarming, sweet, full of gentle moments, and pure kindness, and this one is no different! Kyle & Leah’s story is full of secrets, disagreements, and Jesus. I found Kyle’s turnaround about GOD inspiring and uplifting.

Leah is in a training to be a midwife, but the Amish don’t believe in higher education or making one person seem higher than another so this is problematic. Leah is also courting a gentleman who believes a woman’s place is at home, raising kids and cleaning house, not in at a job.

There are multiple stories and threads weaved into this tapestry of a story, and Good does well making sure to pull each cord and tie the knots neatly with a bow. I loved this book. I hope there are more in the series, I can’t wait to see what Rachel tackled next!

Dr. Kyle Miller has an offer to take over an established practice in Lancaster, PA where he meets Leah Stoltzfus, a midwife-in-training. One has a past that needs to be faced, one has a secret, and both need forgiveness. Kyle is fresh out of medical school and is taken aback at the natural and herbal remedies Leah is using. Is there a middle ground between his training and what Leah knows the Amish are willing to do? Will Kyle find the forgiveness he needs from others and in the process forgive himself when secrets are revealed? A heartwarming story full of hope and the courage to follow your heart.

Secrets will be revealed in this heartwarming story when Kyle, a new doctor returns to help someone from his past with his practice. Leah, is training to be a midwife in her Amish community and is also running the family store dispensing herbal remedies. When the two meet sparks will fly but Kyle is English and Leah is Old Order Amish. The author has an unusual way of dealing with the situation. Readers may learn some interesting facts about midwifery, herbal remedies as well as Amish and Mennonite life style in this story. Also, those familiar with Kyle will be happy that he finds some closure. Highly recommended!

I love amish books, so when I got this book I was super excited. This book did not disappoint. I love how the amish live, simple lives but also how they really depend on God first and foremost. That is how the author wrote this book. That being said the author wrote an amazing story where everything was not "perfect", Kyle faced thing in his path that seem to be haunting him and Leah had her own set of secrets that you really don't see coming even though the author did hit at it a lot in through out the book. I really liked Esther and sometimes she came off judgey but honestly I am glad because it really made her and the other characters more real and less "perfect". I loved how this is a good clean read and suitable for all readers. I really enjoyed this book over all and can't wait to read more from this author as this was my first book from her.

The Amish Midwife's Secret by Rachel J Good is the most delightful Amish romance that will leave you smiling.
The novel is dominated by medicine - the small town family doctor and the Amish midwives, one a trainee. Traditional herbal remedies exist side by side with modern medicine and hospitals. Often for the Amish, gut instinct is the order of the day.
The novel deals with guilt and forgiveness. He wanted to "atone for his guilt. But nothing he did could ever erase his past." We all make mistakes, it is not our role to drown in guilt. Jesus paid for all our sins on the cross so we do not ever need to atone for anything. We must forgive ourselves. Guilt is a heavy burden to carry and not one we are meant to pick up. If forgiveness is given by God, and it is, we would be guilty of hubris if we do not forgive ourselves.
Relationships with God suffer because we feel bad about our actions. "God had ignored his pleas... so it seemed foolhardy to trust Him." In our hurt, we place human characteristics on God. He is not human. He is God and as such should not be judged to have human traits of ignoring people. God will always answer us and He can always be trusted.
The Amish have a strong faith. "Everyone discussed God as if He were an important part of their lives." God longs to be a part of all of our lives. He longs to have a relationship with each and every one of us.
The Amish are very community minded and also have a strong moral code.
Adoption is a major theme. Adopting parents choose to show no differentiation between their blood children and their chosen children. Likewise God chooses to adopt us all equally into His family.
Names are important. A name change signifies a change in circumstances, reminding us that God chooses to give us new names such as beloved.
Secrets have the power to enhance or destroy but whatever the outcome, secrets must come into the light or the burden of them will eat away at us.
The Amish Midwife's Secret was another wonderful read from Rachel J Good who always writes cracking stories grounded in God.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Sweet story filled with forgiveness, love, faith and more. Learning to trust self and others can be troublesome, when expectations are given by family and community. However, in this heartwarming story, there is the possibility of forever love. I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my personal honest opinion. No review was required.

I am so glad Rachel Good wrote Kyle's story! Ever since reading Buried Secrets, I felt so sorry for him. This book allows Kyle to come back to his childhood home and face the pieces of his broken past. As he helps out the local doctor, he is also teamed with a local Amish "midwife" in training. She is skilled in natural healing products which raises questions and red flags in Kyle's mind.
While working together, they seem to form a truce while both make business and personal changes to their lives which will affect their futures.

This is an excellent book, very well researched just like the first in the series "The Amish Teacher's Gift". I loved hearing about all the natural remedies that could be used in many types of situations. Not only does Rachel Good present a well written enjoyable book but you learn something too! Keep them coming!

The Amish Midwife’s Secret ( Love and Promises #2 )
By: Rachel J. Good
The Amish Midwife’s Secret is book two by Rachel J. Good in Love and Promises Series. This is part of a series , but you can read it as a stand a lone without any problems. Wow, this is the second book that I have read by Ms. Good and I am very impressed with her writing. I was hooked right from the start and did not want to put it down. I Love the characters both Leah and Kyle. Leah is a midwife and loves what she does. Dr. Kyle comes back to his home town after getting an offer that is strange. Both Leah and Kyle have some secrets from the past. Can these two work together with their beliefs so different? There is attraction , but one is Amish and the other is English. I really loved this good clean romance with some mystery added. I am looking forward to reading book three “ The Amish Widow’s Rescue”.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley and the Publisher, But was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this book. Kyle and Leah were both very likeable characters. I wasn't fond of a certain character who appeared to be very judgemental but other than that I liked the story. The ending was satisfactory -- I really wasn't sure how the author would pull it off but she did.

Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for the ARC.

This book was such a great one. I was touched by it, I was caught up with it, totally. I couldn't put it down. I have some people in my life with a similar situation. Which is a reason it absolutely grabbed me. But I will not write about it, you will want to read it and find out all about it yourselves.

I loved the characters. Both Kyle and Leah wanted things in their lives to follow paths that they personally believed as he was a doctor, trusting modern medical methods and she was a midwife, using natural healing methods.

There is just enough conflict to make it such an interesting and captivating read. I just loved it.

I was given a copy of this book through NetGalley and the author. All thoughts are my own.
