This book gives its reader an actionable plan to how to put the Cover Letter together in today's world, how to customize it to the job you want and your audience. I found it easy to comprehend and utilize.
As I have recently been looking at the option of returning to work after being a stay at home mum for 8yrs this has been an interesting insight into what potential employers look for at different stages of the employment process.
Would have been nice to have seen some examples of my situation as a mum returning to work it's often overlooked and can be a hard situation to explain to employers who have no interest in your family dynamics.
Still several pointers to take away from book though
Cover letters are consistently changing and it is hard to figure out what to include, how long to make them, etc. The author did a great job of putting together a book that allowed me to write an amazing letter! Thank you!
It helped me compose my cover letter. Not a passionate read. But it’s a reading that has a purpose and it serves it!
Ultimate Cover Letters is an excellent resource for the job seekers out there. I requested this from NetGalley to help a friend who is about to write a job application. He's been in the same role for over 20 years and is out of the loop in terms of applications and interviews. I was helping him with the letter, so I read this book first, and it provided me with many useful tips on presentation and content which I could then pass on to him. It has also given me a few ideas for how to super-charge my own application letters. The bulk of the book is sample letters, imagining job applications in a wide range of fields, and that is useful to see how you should approach things differently depending on the role. Overall, this is another great book in the Ultimate series. 4.5 stars from me.
