Lucy is stoked to start her new job. She has over come many obstacles to get here. She is working behind the scenes but eventually wants to be in front of the news camera, and this is the studio to make that happen.
What she doesn't count on is running into her old crush, for him to not recognize her, and to find out that he will soon be her boss.
Will is back, his mother's will left him the company, that includes a tv station. But his past stint on a reality tv show has prevented him from progressing further. This is his chance to prove that he has grown.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I did find myself enjoying it quite a bit. It was a bit predictable as to what the outcome was going to be but in all it was a fun quirky read. I would give this book a 3.5 stars and recommend to others.

This was a cute, quick read. I liked the storyline and it was set up like a typical contemporary romance. The main characters are William, a reporter with a playboy type past that's about to take over the station from his father, and Lucy, a once ugly duckling producer looking to move up in the news world who knows Will from her past. She ends up as Will's fake wife for this undercover piece at a local resort that is going to be good for the stations ratings. While together, they make a connection without knowledge of either's past. You wonder if this connection will hold up after their fake marriage and honeymoon are over. Lucy is concerned with her professional life with Will going to be her boss. He is a little more relaxed about it. The ending is set up with a quick issue and obviously feelings are revealed.

The Honeymoon Trap is Christina Hovland’s debut novel. Lucy and Will go toTwin Lakes, to try to expose the resort questionable business tactics that appear to target honeymooning couples by overbooking their rooms and stealing items from their room. They have met before, but he doesn’t recognize her, which allows a relationship that wouldn’t have occurred eight years ago. An additional complication is that Will is soon to be her boss as he’s inherited the television empire she works for.

Hovland makes trope characters (self-centered playboy and ugly duckling turned swan) feel fresh. Their story involved insecurities, bullying, parent-engendered internal struggles. There is chemistry between the hero and heroine as well as humor. The sex scenes were well-written. In the second half of the book, the character’s flip-flopped on their relationship so often and over such banal reasons, I felt dizzy. Their emotions didn’t ring true during those episodes. I would have like more depth of emotion. However, my Kindle shut down half-way through, and I was disappointed to be taken out of the story.

This was a fun book from start to finish! It's the first one I've read by Christina Hovland, and I absolutely love the writing style. The story itself is well-written and the characters are accurately portrayed with a surprising amount of depth and realism. It's a fun and romantic story, with the right amount of emotions woven throughout.

The Honeymoon Trap by Christina Hovland is a very fun romantic story with some great emotional and in-depth characters. This is a new author for me and I really did enjoy her novel. It all beings with Lucy Campbell who has just started her new job as a producer at the TV station in town called Confluence. There she runs into Will Covington, her old crush. She met him when he starred on a reality TV show that she was an intern at. Back then she was the dorky chubby girl way in the background that no one really noticed. Now, she's lost weight and has advanced her career so she is ready to take on the world and keep moving on up in her chosen career. And she is not going to let Will ruin anything even though he is her new manager and the sparks are starting to fly between them.

Will has inherited the TV station after his mother passed away and he has grand plans for it, so long as his meddlesome father doesn't mess that up for him. He's currently not on speaking terms with his father who happened to marry the family maid after Will's mother died. Will can't seem to find a place to stay in town so he rents a place from a crazy landlady and it just so happens to be right next door to Lucy's place. Even though it's old and falling apart, he sticks around to learn more about Lucy and how to get her to give him a chance.

Then Lucy finds herself doing an undercover story with Will while they have to pose as newlyweds on their honeymoon. They are trying to expose a hotel's habit of stealing from their customers. As they stay at the hotel, the attraction between these two gets even more intense as they share the same confined space. The problem is that Lucy isn't intending to stay long in Confluence. It's just meant to be a stepping stone for a better position elsewhere. Can Will convince her to not only stay but to give their relationship a chance as well?

Lucy and Will's story will make you laugh, tug on your heartstrings, and will be thoroughly enjoyed by it's readers. Grab a copy of Christina Hovland's The Honeymoon Trap from your favorite retailer today and enjoy the story!

This book was funny, adorable and really clever. Love the game they play called confessions, it really made me laugh and smile at times throughout the story. The story was completely charming from start to finish and the loss of sleep was so worth it. Highly recommend

Honeymoon Trap was not what I expected. Lucy is tired of being behind the scenes, she wants to be in front of the camera. With her new job in the television show in a town called Confluence, she thinks she might finally be able to make her dream a reality. Will is looking to take over his mother’s company and put the past behind him. When Will and Lucy bump into each other outside of work Will doesn’t recognize Lucy, but Lucy knows exactly who Will is. Now they’re being thrown together on a story to be fake honeymooners to break a story. Sparks are flying almost immediately. Will wants to take their relationship to the next level, but Lucy doesn’t want people at work thinking she slept her way to the top. It’s a struggle of wills.

I liked Honeymoon Trap. I thought the story was super cute.

Lucy has struggled a lot in the past with how she looks at with her absentee parents. When she lost a bunch of weight to be a better her she didn’t expect to see her long-lost first crush. Throughout the story, Lucy doesn’t tell Will that she knows him and that’s a point of conflict later in the story. Lucy struggles with him not seeing her before, while he’s able to see her now.

Will has issues with trust. After his first big job where he unknowingly met Lucy, his whole life has gone a bit off track. After the bad boy player persona was placed on him he’s working hard to try and show the world he’s not that person. Running into Lucy he has a lot of feelings of attraction right from the get-go. He started to really like Lucy right away and while he had a few douche canoe moments, I could tell his heart was in the right place.

My one major complaint would be that some of this story was too predictable. I like a story to surprise me and this one failed to do that throughout the majority of the book. Outside of that, a decent story was fun characters.

This was not bad, but the story wasn't for me. The writing itself flowed okay, but I wasn't a fan of the story. Lucy is a former "ugly duckling", and now she's beautiful with self esteem issues. That doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that she holds it against William that 8 years ago he didn't notice her. Really?! She was 17, and he was college age. Most guys that age are not interested in younger girls. Her friend Katie acts like William is the scum of the earth, and Lucy agrees. I just couldn't get past that. They've never had a relationship, and I'm not sure why it makes William a horrible person that he doesn't remember her. I didn't really buy them as a couple either. This was a first for me from this author, but I would give her another read.

I actually enjoyed this book more than I thought I did and found the premise to be believable (albeit a little cheesy) and the characters likable. I liked that the author gave some depth to Lucy and her backstory but found some of the "fat" talk to be condescending. I wish her past as an overweight person wasn't seen as something she had to overcome in order for Will to notice and love her. However, I found it refreshing that she didn't dwell on her weight as much as I feared when she first brought it up. My other main issue with this book was the side stories that could have brought more to the story but seemed like afterthoughts and thrown in as filler.

There were definitely some great humorous aspects to this book and I did find myself chuckling at some of the situations. I was happy with the ending and the book did wrap up nicely.

I liked it enough to read other books by this author but wouldn't make it my next read

Determined to investigate a story that could turn out to be big, Will needs someone to pose as his wife. Enter Lucy. She's perfect. Too bad he doesn't remember her. Yet, the closer they get, the more Lucy finds herself falling for the one man that could ruin her career aspirations, especially since he'll soon be her boss. Will these two get the happy ever after they deserve or will they run from their feelings because being alone is safer?

I love reading books by new-to-me authors and I've got to say that Ms. Hovland has delivered an engaging and fascinating read in this book where the main characters had me hooked from the very beginning, especially with what William -- or 'Will' as Lucy calls him -- is dealing with as a reporter. Will he manage to get the interview he needs? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine come face-to-face for the first time where this story really takes off, as I wanted to know more about this couple's shared past and why it had such an effect on the heroine to make her into the person she is now. Will she ever fully be able to get over everything she's been through in the past to give a future with the hero a chance?

As for the dialogue, it was entertaining and intense due to the main characters back stories and the obstacles they face to be together, as neither have the best of relationships with their parents and the heroine faces a situation that reminds her of the terrible times she suffered in the past. Certainly, kids can be so cruel. Furthermore, both the main characters were relatable, likeable and I loved their growing relationship, as there being together is inevitable because their chemistry is so strong.

With the heroine, she's strong, brave, driven and I liked how much of a challenge she provided the hero. I also liked the game they played in order to get to know each other, even though the heroine is holding back in order to protect herself. Will she own up to the fact that the pair knew each other when they were younger? While the hero, he's confident, driven, charming and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over because it's palpable he wants her. How long will it take the heroine to give into their chemistry?

Overall, Ms. Hovland has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance was delightful and had me loving these two together; and the ending had me loving the way these two do everything in their power to make things right. Certainly, the hero's way is brilliant and makes the heroine realize that she's just as deserving of love as anyone. I would recommend The Honeymoon Trap by Christina Hovland, if you enjoy the fake relationship trope or books by authors Avery Flynn, Dylann Crush, Kerri Carpenter and Lucy Parker.

An adorable read!

The Honeymoon Trap was a fun, rom-com-ish undercover fake romance story. Lucy is a likable heroine who it's all to easy to identify with. I especially loved her inner voice--it had me LOLing more than once. William is the perfect hero for her, determined as much to be there for and with her as he is to live up to his mother's expectations.

Though in true rom-com fashion portions of the plot don't get as strong a treatment as they could have, this was still a fun read from cover to cover. It's my first book from this author, but definitely not my last!

This book is a light and funny story, one of those you look for when you need an easy reading... and a forgettable one. I had a little difficulty getting into the story but once I did I couldn't put it down. It's sweet, funny, a little touching, a little sexy (description of the foreplay but not much more) but with no grand gestures of love, big troubles or something like that. I like both character, especially Will, is he real? Can I have one? A funny and honest man, yummy! Lucy is sweet too but I found her a bit stressing sometimes. I loved their interactions and their double entendre dialogues but I found a little less likeable their trouble at work, especially at the end, didn't like Lucy's reaction.
The book is easy to read, there's not much description of places or circumtances, what I found perfect since I hate losing my reading time on those things.
It's perfect for reading on the beach or on your sofa one Sunday afternoon. I will definetly read more from Christina Hovland!

Not for me!

Although this is a sweet romance, I had a difficult time feeling good about Will, the H in this story. I found that his outburst when he figures out he knew Lucy, was rude and degrading. Although Lucy stands up to Will, she’s in love with the guy and I was not impressed that she lets him run hot and cold with little consequence. Unfortunately, Will is Lucy’s new neighbour, and she needs to work with him. This is both awkward and uncomfortable, especially as he is attracted to her, while she’s keeping him at a distance.

I just couldn’t get past how rude and immature Will’s outbursts were. He needed another shake-up to show he’s changed, because, if this is the “new” Will, I’d really hate the “old” Will!

A hilariously funny story. This is just one of those instances that had me laughing OT loud.
““I can’t believe a kid broke my window.” She bit at her thumbnail. He shrugged. “Who else would have a sling shot and a piss poor aim?” “An errant hijacker, bandit, or…pirate?””
Will and Lucy were witty and charming and came up with the most ridiculous stories and situations. You will no regret reading it.

I love this fantastically fun, sexy read that is a definite homerun for this debut author. Parts of the story are laugh out loud funny with some truly emotional parts that keep you flipping the pages. Lucy and Will are both strong wonderful characters and the author did a great job of letting us get to know these two. The story has a nice steady pace making it a relaxing easy read. I for one am looking forward to more from this author and definitely recommend this one.

Oh my heavens, The Honeymoon Trap was what I need this week. This book definitely tickle my funny bone. We have William Covington trying to prove that he can handle his mother's company. Use to be a screw up, but he was young and dumb. Then we have Lucy Campbell who had a major crush on him when he was young and dumb, and she finds out that she's working with Will. When they first knew each other, she hadn't had her major transformation. I did enjoy this book, because it had romance, comedy, and a little more. It actually touched on the subject of bullying. Not in your face we should stop bullying, but woven in. Poor Lucy had the awful nickname caterpillar, but she did transformed herself into a beautiful person. Things definitely start to get interesting when Will and Lucy go on an assignment together. Throughout the book we see Will giving Lucy a chance to get to know the real him, but she shuts off things about her. I mean she doesn't want to be remembered as the caterpillar.

I laughed and cried with The Honeymoon Trap. This story was so much fun. I think there will be some that will be able to relate with Lucy, and feeling they're not good enough for what is in front of them. Yes, will is a little cocky. He grew up good looking with no troubles. Overall, this was a really good story. I can't wait to read more from this author.

My Thoughts:

I don't read much contemporary romance being a huge fan of the historical variety of romance titles, but this book was to put it mildly a laugh a minute and what I would read consistently in the genre.
I hope this author is at this moment writing the next book in a can't miss series.

I gave this delightful book 4.9 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 3 of 5 flames. Physical intimacy is not even necessary to make this book a page turner and a reader's delight.
