Wow Ms Phillips sharesALOT in this book. It was ok she gets kind of catty talking of others but she seems brutally honest about her own life which makes you like her. Good book
Every so often you come across a book that really resonates you. It makes you laugh, you bawl, you find a lot of similarities between yourself and the author. This book was that for me. This book felt like having a heart to heart with your best friend, sharing crazy stories and crying your heart out. It takes a lot of guts to talk about your rough patches and the times you mess up, so props to Philipps for writing about all the different experiences she's had. I've been a huge fan of Philipps since I first saw her on Freaks and Geeks as a teenager and I've been following her career since then. Reading this did not disappoint. It was amazing from beginning to end and I cannot wait to see where life takes her next.
I enjoy celebrity/comedian memoirs. If Bossypants is the (recent) gold standard, I’d put Amy Poehler’s Yes Please just below and Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me just below that. This is between Amy and Mindy on that scale. Busy tells some difficult stories ranging from sexual assault to having her name taken off a script she contributed to. She is funny and realistic about her own failures as well as showing how driven and resilient you have to be to succeed in Hollywood. I enjoyed that she didn’t sugarcoat the behavior of James Franco or the difficulties of joining Dawson’s Creek after it was already an established hit. If you know her work (or her Instagram stories), you will like this book. Out in October. (I got a free copy from NetGalley but my thoughts, as always, are my own.)

Candid, honest memoir from one of Hollywood's most popular social media sharers.. She does not hold back. It makes for a great read.
Very well written. It flowed nicely, and I liked the motif of the song titles as chapter names. It felt like I was having a conversation with a good friend.
I already liked Busy, but after reading this book, I adore her! She is so open, vulnerable and brave to tell the world about her deepest darkest life experiences, as well as her amazing triumphs. She is truly an inspiration. I appreciated her honesty about herself, other actors and the how the entire experience as an actress in Hollywood tends to play out for women.
I hope every woman reads this book, especially if they have daughters (and even sons). There are a lot of lessons to be learned about what to do and not do for your kids, not to mention how important it is to give your kids a sense of self - especially young women. It's not a parenting book by any means, but any parent of a tween will better understand how important it is to talk to their kids about sex, consequences of actions, consent and even that sometimes it's ok to snoop!!!
I recommend everyone read this book!
