Sammy in the Fall was a simple story with very little content. There isn't really a goal or a purpose, it's just Sammy going through parts of his day. He has a horse, Hob, but I'm not sure if it's an actual horse or a doll. It seems small and doll-like, but other comments make me think it's alive.
They pick nuts, play in leaves, do a craft, and then play in the rain. There is nothing that connects these events, they just seem to happen at random.
This story is so cute! My son loves it and asks for it again and again. The illustrations are especially nice and I like that it is more complex than your average children’s book.
Easy and fun way to learn about fall. Great illistrations. Kids will love to learn by reading this book. Would recommend.

Whether a parent is trying to teach a child about autumn or wants to help them learn the words of the season, "Sammy in the Fall" uses wonderful illustrations and a straightforward plot to describe the sights and activities of fall. The language is complicated enough to keep parents engaged during story-time yet easy enough to let early readers participate without getting frustrated.
Princess Fuzzypants here: How could I not enjoy a charming children’s book that stars another red tabby, named Sammy. It is a great book for young readers with delightful pictures and an easy simple read. In fact, I could see this becoming a favourite in the library of any young feline enthusiast, particularly those who love us gingers.
I give it five purrs and two paws up.
I could not get into this one as much. It is great for beginning readers since the words are easy and their is not that many of them. A great book to read in September or October for the fall season! Super cute art. Just not my favorite read.
Sammy in the Fall by Anita Bijsterbosch is a darling children's book about fall and the great things that come with it.
Sammy and his friend Hob enjoy a lovely fall day and rake leaves, pick acorns and chestnuts to use for making crafts, jump in puddles and so much more.
It is beautifully illustrated and kid friendly. It shows children that they can enjoy fall and explains everything they can do to make it one of the favorite seasons.
I loved reading this to my children and getting fun ideas. We are definitely going to try them all.
Both very young as well as older readers can enjoy this sweet read.
This is a really cute little story that has some lovely images that are sure to be a hit with young children and it shows them what fun they can have during autumn. The story is very easy to read and follow for young ones.
This is another cute book in the Sammy series. In this delightful addition, Sammy and Hob, his adorable stuffed horse have fun with fall activities. They have a busy day picking apples, raking and jumping in the fallen leaves, collecting acorns and chestnuts in a basket, and then having fun playing outside in the rain. As the day ends, a tired Sammy and Hob curl up with their favourite picture book and snuggle together as they read.
This is a great story to read at this time of year as the days are getting cooler, leaves are beginning to change colour and apple harvest season is upon us. This story is told with simple text, short sentences and wonderful illustrations that are large, vibrant and colourful. The hardcover book has half pages that hide and reveal how Sammy and his little horse Hob enjoy Fall. My grandchildren were able to identify with the activities, especially splashing in the rain, as we have had a lot of rain lately. Little ones will really enjoy that aspect I'm sure. What a great book for a pre-school or kindergarten classroom as they learn about Autumn. The publisher, Clavis Publishing, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, opinions and ideas shared are my own.
Simple text. Coulourful illustrations. Sammy and Hob doing some fun fall activities.
Thanks to netgally and the publisher for the eARC.
Cute illustrations and a very simple story about some of the joys of Fall. My 2 year old class will enjoy this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Sammy and his little horse Hob help to teach all the things related to Fall. I found this to be a good teaching tool for 2-4 yr, olds so they can go out and find the things in the book Sammy and Hob do in relation to Fall. It is also a good beginner reading book for 5-6 yr. olds. The story is simple and a quick read and would make a great bedtime story, since they end the day with a book and fall asleep. I found the illustrations to be vivid and very well done. This is the second book for children I have read by this author and found both to be very enjoyable and well written.
A delightful book for pre-schoolers. Sammy the cat and his stuffed horse, Hob, enjoy autumn activities outside -- picking apples, meeting new friends (squirrel, bird, hedgehog), raking and playing in the leaves, and collecting acorns and chestnuts. Sammy and Hob also have fun indoors making crafts using yarns and sticks. Sammy and Hobs, wearing brand new raincoats and boots go back outside to play in the rain. They floated a sailboat in the puddles and jumped and splashed in them. It was perfect day! The colorful illustrations are adorable! On one of the pages, young readers are asked to find the baby hedgehogs sleeping in the leaves.
Sammy in the Fall is a cute read-aloud with brightly colored, appealing illustrations. Young listeners will watch as Sammy. a cat, and his stuffed animal. a pony named Hob, enjoy a variety of fall activities. For example, they rake and play in the rain. There are many things to see in each illustration. from the pony to hedgehogs to ducks. The book takes place over the course of the day and ends with Sammy reading to his pony and going to bed. This is a sweet book for preschoolers.
Short, simple story just right for preschoolers! I love the Sammy and Hob character! Just two cute kitties exploring the fall! Illustrations were adorable.
While I like this author’s writing, I’ve never been impressed by the artwork. These books are as simplistic as you’d expect them to be, considering the age group, but this one is even more so. It basically follows the lead cat as it goes around seeing and doing things that happen in the autumn, usually helping other animals in the process.
It’s really weird seeing a horse that small, especially with reins and a saddle. Sure, a talking horse is fine, but this takes some getting used to.
Sammy is a sweet orange tabbing working in his garden in the fall and enjoy the company of the other little animals occupying his world.
Sammy shares with others without making a big deal out of it - something I think is important to impart on the little readers. Sammy rakes leaves, works on cozy crafts, plays in the rain and goes to bed with his favorite book.
I definitely identify with this cat.
Simple illustrations that little readers will enjoy thumbing through.
While I couldn't exercise the "fold and reveal" feature on the epub version I imagine it's nice.
Great book especially in fall time for helping little readers transition to the new season.
This is a delightful book starring Sammy, the kitty, and Hob, his adorable stuffed horse as they "do" Fall.
With simple text and vibrant illustrations the author highlights the duo as they experience a variety of activities that one can participate in during the Fall season. The hardcover book has half pages that hide and reveal how Sammy and his little horse Hob enjoy Fall. Little ones will really enjoy that aspect I'm sure.
They have a busy day picking apples, raking and jumping in the fallen leaves, collecting acorns and chestnuts in a basket, and then having a romp outside when a sudden rainstorm moves in. The two splash in puddles and Sammy sails a boat in a huge puddle instructing it to sail to the rainbow which has magically appeared in the sky.
After an exciting but tiring day Sammy and Hob curl up with their favourite picture book and snuggle together as they read. Sleepily Sammy calls it a day.... the end of a perfect Fall day for sure.
SAMMY IN THE FALL is as cute as cute can be! Sammy, a kitty, and his friend Hob, a tiny horse, spend a busy fall day doing fun seasonal things like picking apples, collecting nuts and playing outside, surrounded by their equally darling friends. I loved it! For toddlers ages 30 months and up. 5/5

A short and sweet little children's book about the joys of a day in the fall time. Lovely little illustrations too.
