I love reading a book by Debbie Macomber. This book was nice but not outstanding. A few story lines just left me like, let me go back and reread this and this doesn’t make sense. The story was bla. So, if you have only time for one book, pass on this one and read another.

Another fabulous story from Debbie Macomber. The characters were fun, likeable, and the story flowed so well I could not put it down as I wanted to get to the ending. Fans of her stories will love this holiday book.

As always, Macomber gave us another easy holiday read with a happy but realistic enough ending. Perfect leading into Christmas. Characters were well developed and likable. The Alaskan locale was interesting as well. Thanks to Netgalley, Random House and Ballantine Books for the advanced readers copy.

Is it Christmas without a book from Debbie Macomber? I've loved her Christmas books for years and I was so excited to pick up this book. Alaskan Holiday by Debbie Macomber is the perfect holiday read. A couple in love faces hurdles to their relationship. But it is Christmas and magic abounds! Don't miss this book for a fun holiday read! I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I liked this one, it was sweet and filled me with holiday cheer. Josie and Palmer fall in love over a summer, but Josie is set to go back to the mainland in order to fulfill her dreams of becoming a chef. They find their way together and live a fulfilling life in the end but my only issue with it was Josie's wishy-washy behavior. I didn't mind that she wasn't sure what to do, but I wish that her character had been a bit more settled. Overall, a good read and a fulfilling ending. Fans of Debbie Macomber will love it!

What a perfect Christmas read! It was easy to fall in love with all the characters and certainly the Alaskan setting. I hope Miss Macomber never stops writing these entertaining holiday books that give us such blessings as readers!

Alaskan Holiday by Debbie Macomber is a sweet and cozy read. Super quick, but highly enjoyable. I personally love all things Alaska (I have been there a few times), so this story was a treat for sure. I loved reading about Josie and Palmer's love story. They are both characters that are easy to care about, so I kept thinking about them and had to make some reading time in the middle of the night, good thing it was the weekend!

Loved this nice, sweet Christmas story about Josie the chef from Seattle. Josie finds fun, adventure, and romantic interest Palmer while she’s spending some time in Alaska. Though she’s scheduled to go home to Seattle, the fates intervene – and Josie is held in Alaska for longer than she planned.

Palmer and Josie were lovely characters and it was fun to see their relationship develop. I also really liked seeing what Josie was going to cook up next – I guess you could say that I have that in common with cranky but lovable Jack!

Solid, uplifting Christmastime read.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book!

Another Christmas book! I’m on a roll this season and flying through stacks of Christmas books from Netgalley. When I saw Alaskan Holiday by Debbie Macomber, I requested a review copy right away.

Alaskan Holiday picks up Palmer and Josie’s story just as she is about to leave Alaska. Palmer proposes but it goes really, really wrong. It was a quick read for me. But I left feeling like I was missing something. I wish the story had started sooner. I would have loved the opportunity to see Palmer and Josie at the beginning when they first met. The way the story was told, I felt disconnected from them and their story. Even some flashbacks to their beginnings would have helped. Despite the missing pieces it was a fun read. I ended up giving this book 3 festive stars.

While I'd hoped for a cozy winter read, I didn't expect to long for a trip to the middle of nowhere, Alaska! I enjoyed the setting, and would have loved much more of it. Overall, I felt the story lacked any real depth. It was entertaining, but I didn't connect with any of the characters...a real deal breaker for me. There was so much potential here, but between the terse dialogue and surface conflict, I just felt like I was left wanting more,

A sweet, feel-good love story. This novel takes place in a remote town in Alaska, as well as in Seattle, WA. The author painted a beautiful picture of ruggedness, serenity as well as peaceful Alaskan living. I enjoyed this refreshing, quick and easy tale. Thank you NetGalley for the e-reader copy for my review. All opinions are my own.

In Alaskan Holiday by Debbie Macomber, Josie meets Palmer in an Alaskan small town where Palmer lives and Josie is cooking at a lodge. After spending the summer together Palmer has fallen in love with Josie and surprisingly asks her to marry him. Though Josie has enjoyed her time with Palmer she has been to focused on the job as a sous chef waiting back home for her to think about a relationship with Palmer. She is so conflicted by his proposal, which she turned down, that she ends up missing the last boat out of town for the winter. Can she find a way out of town in time to get to her new job? What exactly does she feel for Palmer?

I thought the book had a lot of potential. I really liked the idea of Josie being stranded in this small town with the person that she has just turned down. Can he win her back before she leaves?

Unfortunately, once those questions are very quickly answered the book just fell flat for me. There was not much conflict and no one seemed to feel very much emotion. Though this is a holiday story I didn’t feel it was centered much on the themes of Christmas. Yes there were aspects of hope and love, but for me when those are hard to do the story means more to me. In Alaskan Holiday those themes happened so easily that they didn’t seem to matter as much. The characters did not interest me and by the end I didn’t really care what happened to them. There was one character, a local, who did not fit the Alaskan profile at all. I felt like his speech and his mannerisms felt more like a southerner than someone who withstands the brutal Alaskan winter.

This was a very quick read and great if you are looking for something really light. Unfortunately I do need a bit more than this book had to offer me.

This was a fun and delightful Christmas read! It is my first Debbie Macomber book and I will be looking to read more of her books. It was a short and sweet romance book. I liked that it was set in Alaska and I hope she will do a follow up to this book. Thank you, NetGalley and Random House - Ballentine for the review copy.

A Fantastic Holiday Romance to Kick Start Your Holiday Season ~ Alaskan Holiday by Debbie Macomber!

Alaskan Holiday by Mrs. Macomber was a treat to read. I found it to be a warm, cozy romantic story that delighted and warmed my heart. The characters are realistic, slightly flawed and definitely lovable. The story is charming, engaging and filled with Debbie's special blend of romance and humor that I always enjoy. Her descriptions of Alaska and all it's beauty were so inspiring. I truly hope one day to visit there. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Alaskan Holiday!

I received this book for free. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own. Thank you to Debbie Macomber, Ballentine Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Holiday reads are my jam. Add in a Macomber book and it's time to snuggle in and read. I start my holiday reading in October and keep it going through the New Year as I love the HEA and holiday cheer brought on by these books. This book was no exception. I know Macomber is an author I can count on for a feel good read.

In Alaskan Holiday, sous chef, Josie Avery, decides to spend the summer in Alaska working until her new job in Seattle begins.

While there, she befriends two men who turn her life around, Jack Corcoran and Palmer Saxon.

Josie and Palmer fall for one another and he proposes, but Josie just can't let this opportunity of a lifetime pass her by. With some bad timing, she misses the last plane out of Alaska for the season. She ultimately makes her way to Seattle where she begins working her dream job. The question.....is it still her dream job?

Also, Jack is a hoot and he lives for Josie cooking.

5 stars

3.5 Stars. This is a sweet love story between two likable characters in a seemingly incompatible situation - one is a sous-chef in Seattle and a sword craftsman who was born and raised in extremely rural Alaska. It was a light, enjoyable read.

Recently it seems as if I have a had a love/hate relationship with this author's work. This book falls somewhere in the "meh" zone. I didn't dislike the book but I didn't love it either. The story seems a bit cliche with a big city woman falling for a small town (or in this case middle of nowhere in Alaska) man. It was a bit of awkward reading at the beginning and I feel like the story really didn't get interesting until almost the end.

The beginning of this story had me checking my Kindle to make sure I hadn't accidentally skipped pages. It seemed as if the story had started before the book began. These characters had already developed a relationship during the six months they knew each other prior to the beginning of the novel. Somehow, this made me feel left out. I also felt like the pace of the story was off and it didn't have a nice flow to it. I was almost left wondering if this wasn't an early book from this author that had been released again after getting a new cover.

As to the characters, well Palmer seemed a bit too awkward and I really didn't find myself enamored of Josie. Jack was a character I just wasn't sure about. While he seemed like someone I could grow to like, some of his actions were just too over the top. There isn't a large cast of characters in this book either which made finding ones to connect to a bit difficult.

All in all, this was an ok story. However, I think I would recommend any of the author's other Christmas novels over this one. While it had a cute cover and a good premise it just wasn't one of my favorites from Macomber.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to write a review. All opinions are mine.

Alaskan Holiday is everything I've come to expect from a Debbie Macomber Christmas book. It was a quick read, lovable, quirky characters, and a feel good story.

This was a cute holiday book. I really enjoyed that the story took place in Alaska. It gave insight to what it’s like in the summer and winter. I enjoyed the characters too. Cute read!
