MacGyver and Kellie had an interesting story. It was very enjoyable. All of the characters were great as well. Although, there were two things I missed. The first, I wanted the Harding brothers in this one and the second, I needed a little more added too the ending. It just ended o.k. for me. I would love to read about Blake's HEA . MacGyver is on a mission with his friend when all of a sudden to he mission changes when trouble in a designer wedding dress walks into a rough bar in Las Vegas.
Kellie is a former Marine which is searching for her sister and will do whatever necessary to find her... but now she may have miscalculated her plan.

Honor Among SEALs in the second novel in Dixie Lee Brown's Hearts of Valor series, but it's the first novel in the series that I've read, and I was hooked immediately, so it worked just fine as a standalone and it gets 5 stars from this reader.

We first meet Kellie Greyson, the heroine, at the blackjack table in the Dominion Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas. This is her third day there, and she's counting cards (a major no-no) in her attempt to get the attention of casino owner and mob boss Tony Pallazi, the man she blames for her sister Anna's disappearance, since Anna was working there at the time of her disappearance. Well, Kellie gets his attention all right, but not in a good way, and the price for gaining knowledge about her sister soon involves her unwilling marriage to Tony, only at the threat of the mobster harming her father. Shortly thereafter, on day of her supposed wedding, she overhears Tony's plot to marry her and kill her for the $5 million dollar insurance policy he's taken out on her, and she soon becomes a runaway bride, ending up in a dive bar as far away from Tony and his thugs as she can get in a slinky wedding gown, spiked heels and a torrential downpour. It's there that she gets into even more trouble by practically being forced to do tequila shots with 3 large, grungy bikers, and she is noticed by the hero, Matt "Macgyver" Inverson (a bad choice of nicknames, in my opinion), who was hanging out at the bar waiting to meet a man who might have info on the missing person he's been hired to find. Kellie ends up getting her drunk on with the bikers, who clearly expect a whole lot more of her than a drinking game. She is soon rescued by Macgyver, and this novel turns into a whole lot more than a runaway bride story.

What it does turn into in one heck of an exciting sexy, multi-layered, suspense-filled, page-turner of a novel with enough of a troubled backstory (Kellie was a Marine who had no choice but to shoot a fellow soldier), and enough fascinating and intriguing secondary characters to make me believe that there are few more exciting novels to come in this series. Just a warning, there is graphic sex, kidnapping, violence and the threat of rape in this novel, which may be triggers for some, and which are definitely for mature readers, but if you can weather those, you're in for one un-put-downable read.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

The Mob and SEALs just don't match

I picked up Dixie Lee Brown's Honor Among Seals a few times
to read. Unfortunately couldn't get through more than a skim read. I think I may just be over all the "Mob" reads out there as others seemed to enjoy the book.
I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.

This has romance, adventure and suspense with a generous helping of sexy that will leave you clamouring for more. This book is definitely something romance readers will crave from start to finish.

Matt is a SEAL who is just floating through his life. He loves his job and has a good brotherhood within his workforce, but that's about it. What he isn't looking for is a relationship. When he runs into an intriguing situation at a Vegas bar, he sees someone in need of help and can't help but jump in feet first. When the situation presents itself to be not what it seemed, Matt is even more invested.

Kellie is on the hunt. Her sister has been missing and she knows that something bad has happened. When Kellie is faced with an impossible choice, she does the unthinkable and risks her own life to save the lives of those she holds most dear. But when she overhears something she shouldn't, she knows that even her own sacrifice won't save them.

Kellie and Matt have a slow burn attraction. When they are in the field, Matt sees a capable woman who is able to not only keep up with him, but also give as good as she gets. He falls more and more in love with her but refuses to acknowledge his feelings. Kellie's past is also something that she is dealing with and when she has to confront that earlier than she'd like, what she thinks and knows is jumbled once again.

I liked the action in this story and the push pull from the characters. I hope that the secondary characters will also get more of their own stories. This was well developed in the relationship aspect but lacked a little in the thriller aspect. It was almost too tidy for me. But despite that minor issue, I enjoyed it a lot.

Steamy Navy SEALs romance that will leave readers breathless, heart racing and racing through the pages.

I liked that this was a slow burn instead of a insta love, as they spent time together they fell a little more. Kellie loves her sister to the point of doing what she can to assist. Kellie ends up getting into some problems that are dangerous and ends getting the help of Matt and his security service to help. We have a lot of actions, twists and laughter...Enjoy!

Review by Amanda for Love Romance Books Blog

I was asked by the author for an honest review.

I would like to give Honor Among Seals 4.5 stars. I enjoyed the story and liked the characters. I have read the first book in the Hearts of Valor series, but I don't think it would be required to enjoy this one. I'm interested in reading more of the series.

I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy romantic suspense books.

This was an easy read - full of action and intrigue and, of course, romance. I did not read the first book in the series, but that did not pose any problems with understanding who the characters were and following the plot here. The plot itself was a little bit out there, as I still do not understand what Kellie hoped to accomplish by cozying up to the mob boss, but if you take it with a grain of salt, it was fun to read.

This is one very exciting reading material packed with lot of action, hot scenes and suspense.
This book is so full of twists, turns, love, hate and laughter that it was truly hard for me to put down
I had to read it as fast I can because I wanted to see how it will finish.
I like to read books that have men in uniform even if they are ex army/police and this one didn't disappointed at all. I have to mention that the female character Kellie, a former Marine, is also strong and independent and she is perfect for former Navy SEAL Matt/MacGyver Iverson.
The plot, characters and authors storytelling is great.
Dixie Lee Brown is a new author for me and this is her first book that I am reading but it won't be my last, I am sure of it.

I'm a sucker for military/protective type romance books and this one was perfect!

I loved that unlike most books, both the hero and heroine were both former military members. Definitely not something you see in most books. This was the first book I've read by this author and it can be read as a stand alone.

I loved the side stories that were going on... I felt a true connection with all the other characters in addition to the main two.

A wonderful, unusual story!

Honor Among SEALs by Dixie Lee Brown
Hearts of Valor #2

Action-packed fast paced runaway bride story of a woman searching for her sister and willing to do anything to find her.

Kellie Greyson’s sister Anna went missing and she is going undercover to find her but in so doing finds herself in difficulty that could see her married to a mobster with her life in danger. She runs into Matt Iverson “MacGyber” who soon lends a hand – and the hand of his teammate – to help her out as she runs from the bad guy and looks for her sister.

This story includes threats to lives, fights, bad guys, good guys, miscommunication, love of family, teamwork and a secret that unfolds along with the story. There is almost instant attraction between the lead characters but I had trouble figuring out what they truly had in common for the long haul…except their military skills and attraction.

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? I think so

A thrill that won't stop! MacGyver, Matt Iverson, is in the right place at the right time. Kellie, a former Marine, is searching for her missing sister when she's caught up with a mobster. The dynamics between these two are solid with a touch of humor, crazy and sexual tension. The second book in the series it stands completely independent of the first. I found myself reading whenever I could grab a moment. Netgalley provided my copy, review given voluntarily.

I love suspense and intrigue. Couple it with a sweet and sexy romance and I'm a happy camper. This book hits every point on my checklist. If this book is an indication of what I can expect from this author, I'm a huge fan.

Runaway bride is looking for her missing sister and ends up getting help from former Navy Seal Matt Iverson. Kellie needs all the help she can get while hiding from a Vegas mob boss who was forcing her into marriage. Book two in the Hearts of Valor series, Dixie Lee Brown has written a book that has mystery, suspense, and romance. A definite five star read.

This is book 2 of the author’s series , Hearts of Valor. Though I am partial to book one , this one is a very good story.
The story centers around former Navy SEAL Matt/MacGyver Iverson and former Marine, Kellie Greyson.
Both are in Vegas searching for a missing person. Kellie’s sister has disappeared for over a year and just recently Kellie found out she was last seen with mobster Tony Palazzi. She makes a point of meeting him . A turn of events has Tony forcing Kellie to marry him but minutes before her wedding she escapes. Guided to a biker bar, she meets MacGyver. who is waiting for information for a different missing person and instead, ends up saving her from a group of bikers. Little did the two of them know that is was going to be the beginning of a cat and mouse race. Will they be able to trust each other long enough to succeed in their mission?
The story is filled with suspense, mobsters, guns, missing people, action , adventure, a few good laughs and of course, romance.
It bears mentioning that Travis , one of the secondary characters, is a great addition to the story.
Aside from the plot , the author reminds us of the horrors of war and their effect of the brave men and women who sacrifice themselves in the name of freedom and our country. She brings to light the fact that war can cause some of the troops to turn to drinking and drugs thinking it’s the only way they can handle the stress. We as a nation, need to support all the brave men and women upon their return and assist them in their integration back to civil life. For that , kudos to Ms Brown.
Looking forward to what else the author has in store for us in the next book of the series,
I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley and Lyrical Liaison. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Fun, snarky, sexy...A great book and I can't wait to read more about the family involved! The characters are good, the side characters are better - lol - they really make the story pop and give it a lot of depth and life.
