WOW. This book literally left my in tears. What a ride. Thank you so much Net Galley and publisher with providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is my first Jennifer Jaynes book, and I was so excited to see that she has earlier books as well. This will not be my last.

I devoured this book in a little over 24 hours. This is the type of book that you just can not put down. Her writing is perfection. There was no rambling, no deviations, no dumb side plots, she wrote a great story and stuck to it. Her character development was great. I always glance at reviews before I pick a book, and one thing that I noticed was how all the reviews were 5 stars. The hype is real and the ratings are well deserved. Pick this book up if you are looking for some DIFFERENT, you will not be disappointed!

It always looks so good on the outside, smart, pretty, accomplished, caring. and Malibu. But, as always, nothing is as it seems.
The clinic covers for a nefarious plan to distribute a drug that will for sure help many, but also hurt many others. Rather than pull back, the inevitable cover up commences.

Then, the too pretty wife with secrets of her own. The pharma storyline is both expected and sadly all too true.
Fun read, not too much, not too little.

Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this book!!
I love Jennifer Jaynes and have read all of her books. I find that she is so good with words, all of the characters come to life, as if you are watching a movie. I never have to go back and flip through to find out who is who, etc.
And she did not disappoint with this book "Malice" . This is a thriller with twits and turns and an unexpected ending. The book was faced paced, and I never lost interest at any point.

Dr. Daniel Winters, a man with a rough childhood, inherits a beautiful home, and becomes a Pediatrician and works in an affluent California practice. He then meets Mia, in a hotel bar and hit it off right away and marry soon after. Daniel, already paranoid of women due to his father, begins to distrust Mia, as she becomes secretive with her phone, and her whereabouts become questionable.
In the meantime, A new drug has been promoted from a Pharmaceutical rep, Respira, a new vaccine for the Rhinovirus His partner, Teddy, seems very eager to promote this drug to their patients, and becomes very angry when Dr. Winters questions the safety of this drug when an 18 mo old begins to have seizures right after this drug is given to her. The mother is upset, as any mother would be, and tells them they will pay for not informing her of the dangers and side effects of this vaccine. (Even though Respira is fictional, it does make you wonder, as I often have, the dangers of the vaccines we give to our children, and the greed behind promoting them.)
Things begin to take a more darker turn when a friend/doctor at another practice who also questions the safety of this vaccine, comes up dead.
The book digs into the greed that pharmaceutical companies, and the fact they will stop at nothing to make money, even death.
The book continues to take many twists and turns, and Dr. Winters life begins to take a downward spiral, of murder, greed, death and lies.

I rate this book a 5 stars plus, its one heck of a book!!!!!!

Not bad, but definitely nothing to rave about. Starts out well but then loses the thread as so many novels do,

Suspenseful and thought-provoking fictional story about vaccinations and what we are told by the doctors who give them as well as the underlying things that aren't said about them and possible reasons why that happens. The characters are well-developed and even though the story is fictional there has been research done by the author about vaccinations and it has been put into the story.

Excellent! A fast paced thriller with many intersecting stories and turns you don't see coming. Unfortunately in today's age, this story is very likely the truth.

Malice by Jennifer Haynes was a thriller that had me hooked from page one. It's about a successful pediatrician, Daniel Winters, and his beautiful wife, Mia. Upon returning to work following his honeymoon, Dr. Winters learns that a new pharmaceutical drug is being heartily pushed on children, which promises to be a cure-all that will prevent even the common cold. Doctors seem a little too eager to prescribe this vaccine and before long, his suspicions about the drug seem to be valid.

Around the same time, Daniel learns that another local pediatrician's family has been murdered, and he begins to suspect that his own wife is holding secrets from him as well. Daniel begins a quest to figure out the truth behind this "miracle" drug, all while trying to figure out what his wife is hiding from him too.

Pretty much from the beginning, I knew what the plot of the book was about and predicted the ending (to a point), but I really enjoyed the build up and was surprised at the twists and turns that led me to the ending. I felt extreme empathy for Rachel, a single mom who, with the best intentions, takes her daughter to get the Respira vaccine, which leads to devastating consequences.

Great, fast-paced mystery/thriller with real-world themes, such as Big Pharma and ethical decision-making by doctors.

4 out of 5 stars for Malice by Jennifer Jaynes.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Malice is a thriller with multiple plot lines converging. The cure for the common cold appears to be deadly and pediatricians everywhere are pushing the vaccine. Daniel is one of these pediatricians buying into the pharmaceutical sales pitch and dishing this medicine out left and right. Then a child is his care suffers severe side effects yet Daniel's personal life seems to be crashing around him distracting him away from the tragedy. When Daniel begins to question his ethics and the drug, his career appears to be in danger of falling apart and his life may be under threat. The other doctors who have spoke out against this drug have suffered questionable deaths and Daniel still does not know what is happening with his new wife. The story plays out believably in a way that will make you want to question every new drug the doctor offers. The underlying story is just as compelling and even more surprising for a smoothly flowing, suspenseful read with an unexpected ending. I would like more closure at the end but the story definitely hooked me and kept the pages flipping. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy.

You know from the beginning that one of the characters will kill another one by the end of the book, but I honestly didn’t see it coming. Nothing I thought was right and the storyline blew all my expectations out of the water. As always, Jennifer Jaynes gives us rounded, believable characters placed in extreme circumstances. Dr. Daniel Winters has worked hard to rid himself of his demons and has become a successful doctor. After seeing his father destroyed by alcohol and beautiful women, he has vowed – successfully – never to let them get a hold of him. This all changes when he marries Mia, a gorgeous but mysterious woman who becomes more and more secretive and may be a gold-digger having an affair behind his back (no kidding, says every single reader after the first few chapters). He also starts having trouble at work, when he is forced to push a pediatric medication that may not be as safe as promised by Big Pharma. The way the story unfolds, sending Dan into a tailspin, made me fall in the “just one more chapter before I go to bed” trap and the twists really blindsided me. I really enjoyed this novel, as much as it made me cringe and saddened me in equal parts.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, NetGalley/Thomas & Mercer!

This was a very good book, and actually I couldn’t put it down. The main storyline, about a new pharmaceutical being given to children, was compelling, timely, and frightening. This was the first book I’ve read from this author, and I will definitely be reading more!

What a fantastic book, absolutely loved everything about it and full of suspense. Really enjoyed the way Jennifer writes, she just gets you involved with all the characters from the very beginning.

Can recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from Jennifer, well done.

This story has two mysteries as a doctor ponders the safety of a new vaccine, while at the same time wondering if his beautiful new wife is lying to him. For me, the most interesting and frightening aspect of this book was the greed shown by pharmaceutical companies, doctors and even the regulatory agencies that are supposed to protect consumers. All you have to do is turn on the radio or TV to hear all the lawsuits pending against pharmaceutical companies to know that this fictional tale is all too plausible

Dr. Daniel Winters life seems to be perfect. He just returned from his honeymoon with his gorgeous new wife Mia, he is a pediatric doctor at a well established clinic, and he lives in a beautiful Malibu beachfront home. When Daniel returns to work, he is told that the clinic is backing a new immunization called Respria, a three part vaccine which protects against rhinovirus while boosting children's natural immune system. Although Daniel feels a bit hesitant he doesn't see a reason not to start prescribing it. When one of his patients has an adverse reaction after receiving the vaccine, Daniel begins to worry that he might be harming the patients he vowed to help. Daniel decides to voice his opposition to the new drug but discovers that everyone who has voiced concerns has ended up dead...

Malice is a new suspense novella by Jennifer Jaynes in which a pediatrics doctor is faced with the consequences of his actions both at work and in his personal life. The novella transitions primarily between Daniel-a pediatric doctor who has vowed to do no harm, Rachel-a single mother who want's what is best for her child, and Mia-Daniel's mysterious new wife who begins acting strangely after the honeymoon. This novella is full of suspense as Daniel is dragged into inner turmoil over patient care and concerns about the secrets his wife seems to be keeping from him. This novella explores what happens when the consequences of ones actions touches the lives of others in a tragic and heartbreaking unfolding of events. A quick and suspenseful read that questions trust and morality.

This story was well written and draws you in completely, as a reader. The characters were dislikable but in a loving way. You start to care about them, even though they’re complete idiots at times. I like the way the different layers of the story all came together. I really enjoyed this story.

Daniel is a pediatrician whose childhood was anything but happy. He blames women, though only beautiful women(who his father was drawn to like a moth to a flame) for his father's downfall. Daniel has worked hard to become a doctor and he now has a good job, a gorgeous home and is determined to avoid his father's mistakes, until he meets Mia. She is stunning which is his first clue to quickly walk away. However, there is more to Mia than just a pretty face and he takes a leap of faith and marries Mia.
The phrase “ the honeymoon is over” is quite appropriate here. Daniel returns to work after his honeymoon and discovers a new drug, Respira, has been given FDA approval and his waiting room is full or parents who want their children to have this latest vaccine. It is said to reduce the chance of children getting sick and big money 'pharma' is advertising the drug everywhere. Daniel has doubts, but his boss Teddy is 100% on board with Respira(so what could go wrong).
At home, Mia has suddenly changed. She is lying to Daniel and he knows it but he is loathe to confront her and rock the status quo. Suddenly, his dream job and dream wife don't seem quite so perfect and as doubts consume him and the body count starts to rise, nothing is as it appears.
I read this at the beach and it was, I thought, a good story. That's because I convinced myself I had it all figured out and it was one for me and my super sleuth reading hat. Then the author pulled the rug out from under me and I realized it was a very good story as I raced to the finish(because, I, of course, was totally wrong). If you enjoy a good mystery with lots of twists and a relevant theme(vaccines and pharmaceutical companies are often in the news), I would recommend Malice. This is the first book I have read by Jennifer Jaynes and she definitely made my 'want to read more' list.
I received an e ARC from Thomas & Mercer through NetGalley.

Malice starts with a bang from the first page and it’s a page turner until the end. But on closer examination parts don’t make sense. I can easily see pharmaceuticals and doctors doing anything to keep negative reviews away from the public, but in this case emergency doctors and parents were already skeptical. There were too many adverse affects. So why kill doctors who are speaking out against the drug, let alone their entire family? It didn’t make sense.

Once again Jennifer Jaynes hits it out of the park with a psychological thriller that twists, turns, twists again and has an unexpected ending. At the heart of the story is a very successful man who is a pediatrician and seems to have a perfect life.....and then adds the perfect wife. But of course when we believe something to be perfect, is it? Daniel’s perfect life seems to be spiraling out of control when he is caught up in a practice where the owner is more interested in the money he can get from big-pharma for using a very questionable drug on his patients, and Daniel’s conscience is making him dig deeper into what is happening to the young patients who are given it. Especially after learning about the reaction of one of his young patients and the mother who takes their story to a journalist. This storyline is very realistic in this day and could have been ripped from our own headlines. But also adding to Daniel’s whirlwind is that he just knows his perfect wife, Mia, is hiding something. His need to discover what she does when he is at work leads him down another path that spirals out of control and to an unexpected ending that leaves you wanting to know more. I didn’t want to put this book down....couldn’t wait to see what happened next! I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley in return for my honest review, which this is.
