I enjoyed this book. I loved the idea of a cat wedding, and I admit to craving cake the whole time I was reading the book. I thought a lot of the characters were exceptionally unpleasant, but since they were supposed to be, that was fine. I felt really sorry for the cats, but since they are imaginary, that works out well, too.

Sorry I was half way through and couldn’t continue as it’s not my thing.

Sisters, Bernie and Libby, are back in book 14 of A Mystery with Recipes series. Animal lovers will enjoy this story, especially those who enjoy the feline cozy. The ladies are catering a wedding for two Russian Blue cats for an eccentric, not well liked resident of Longely, New York. Someone sends a box of mice and during the disruption, Susie is stabbed in the back. Lots of suspects since everyone who comes in contact with her would like to see her dead. Well written mystery and some great cat treats available at the end of the book. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Fans of Isis Crawford’s A Mystery with Recipes series, featuring caterers Bernie and Libby Simmons will certainly enjoy A Catered Cat Wedding. As with Crawford’s other books in the series, the book is light, but still has a murder, recipes, and humor. In this book, a very wealthy, and much hated woman, Susie Katz, decides to have an elaborate wedding for two of her prized cats. The guests include cats, and neighbors and other cat people who hate Susie, as well as her niece and nephew who stand to inherit her fortune. When Susie is found murdered at the wedding, Bernie and Libby, who are catering the feast, look into investigating, and find that almost everyone has a motive to murder Susie.

Crawford’s novel is well-written and fun; although everyone who likes culinary mysteries will like this book, cat lovers will especially enjoy reading it.

I will give almost anything that centers around cats a try.  A Catered Cat Wedding is not a “cat cozy” per se, but the story revolves around a wealthy cat lover known for behaving badly and her precious cats - who also showcase the worst of behaviors.  Susie Katz loved her cats, but didn’t care much for the local humans. Anyone who complained about her cats or her outrageous decor was targeted. Bernie and Libby have been hired to cater the wedding of her two showpiece Russian Blues.  Needless to say nothing the day of the wedding goes as planned, Susie is found dead, and the event is followed by a chaotic interlude in which the crime scene is irreversibly compromised. The police chief gives them an ultimatum- Bernie and Libby have one week to find the killer, or they will be the ones behind bars.

The cozy is a cute one, and the humorous escapades of Bernie and Libby make up for the loose ends and the jumps in logic.  A Catered Cat Wedding did a better job on the characterizations of the victim and suspects than on Bernie, Libby and their crew.  The expectation is that readers have read at least one other book in the series, a small flaw that makes the book slightly less appealing to newcomers.  Cat lovers may also be offended by the heavy use of the crazy cat lady stereotype. All things considered, I liked A Catered Cat Wedding and recommend it.

A Catered Cat Wedding by Isis Crawford is about Susie Katz, who is known as the crazy cat lady of Longely, NY. She’s obsessed with her cats and goes so far as to arrange an extravagant wedding for her two Russian blue cats. She has invited all her enemies/neighbors and plans to have the affair catered by Sisters Bernie and Libby Simmons. She purposely wants to aggravate her frenimies as her cats saunter up the aisle in diamond studded collars. However, a wedding gift containing mice is opened and causes chaos for the guests. Susie is searching for her Russian blues when she is stabbed in the back a few hours later. Sisters Bernie and Libby must solve the murder before their reputation is ruined for good. This story is a bit unbelievable at times, but full of fun and suspense in a fluffy sort of way. This book is for all cat lovers and can be finished in one sittting. Thank you to Net Galley for providing an ARC and allowing me to review this book.

I love foodie m cozy mysteries. This is the fourteen installment of this series. I have not read all of them but I was not disappointed in this book. I thought the mystery was satisfying and the characters were well developed. Through in a cat for good measure and this was worth reading for sure. Thank you netgalley for the gift of the arc of this story. The opinions in this review are own.

Sisters Libby and Bernie have another catering gig, this time a marriage ceremony for felines by their crazy rich owner. On the day of the celebration however, the owner Susie is dead. Unfortunately one of the dynamic duo stumbles into the scene and Police Chief Lucy is not happy with a compromised crime scene and issues a challenge to the amateur sleuths. Libby and Bernie get to business trying to find out who did it before they get slapped with obstruction of justice. I have read all in the series and this one wasn't my favorite, but still cute.

A Catered Cat Wedding by Isis Crawford is the fourteenth book in the Mystery with Recipes series. Bernie and Libby are sisters hired to cater the wedding of two Russian blue cats owned by Susie, the town's crazy cat lady. It soon becomes clear that the wedding is meant to rile her enemies who are all guests at the wedding. After someone plays a mean prank following the service, Susie is found dead. The suspect list is long. Due to some unfortunate events, Bernie and Libby have one week to find the murderer or face charges themselves. This was a fun cozy mystery, and I enjoyed the cat theme. I am anxious to go back to the beginning to read this series and get to know the characters more.

Princess Fuzzypants here: I often have difficulty with cozies where the supposedly intelligent heroines go way beyond the pale to solve the murder. Unless the story line is intentionally straddling the absurd, things have to make sense even in a fictional world. That is why I have trouble with the police chief insisting the two sisters investigate and solve the murder of a client or he will toss them in jail.
Yes, their father was his predecessor; yes, they are both very good at finding things out; yes, they stupidly destroyed the crime scene. It does not make sense. Which is a shame as there are some good parts to the book.
This is a book where the supporting cast is stronger than the leads. The murder victim is a truly reprehensible character who deserves a horrible end. Needless to say, there are plenty of people with understandable grudges against her. Her one redeeming feature is her total love for her cats -Champion Russian Blues. In fact, it is the “marriage” of two of them that bring our heroines into the story and gives us the title of the book. I liked the kitties better than the humans.
There is a nice twist at the end but it cannot overcome my biggest objection. No cop would enlist civilian help in solving a crime and threaten arrest if they did not comply. It stretches credulity too far.
I give it three purrs and one paw up.

A Catered Cat Wedding is the 14th book in a great series that I always look forward to reading.
Pedigree cats, delicious food, and murder make up this delicious tale. I throughly enjoyed the last installment in the series.

I thought a book about a caterer might be a good cozy mystery. The addition of cats further enticed me to request a review copy of this book. However, after reading a few chapters, I just couldn't finish it. The problem? I think the idea of having a wedding for two cats is ridiculous and am not fond of the idea of subjecting cats to the indignity. I thought when requesting the book that it might be a side-light to the mystery, but it carried a bit more emphasis than I'd hoped. So, unless you are really a crazy cat lady who insists on imposing human traditions on felines, I wouldn't recommend this book.

A Catered Cat Wedding by Isis Crawford is the 14th book in A Mystery with Recipes series. Bernie and Libby Simmons are sisters who do catering, and they have been hired by the local cat lady to cater her cat's wedding. When the event ends in chaos, and the cat lady is killed, the mystery begins. This book has more twists and turns, that kept me reading page after page. I found this book to be a quick fun read, with a well developed plot and characters. I recommend this book for all cozy mystery book lovers.

Bernie and Libby are up to their old bad habits in this one and this time the Chief has had enough. So what's a Chief to do when they won't call him immediately after a crime or keep their noses out of it? He gives them a week to solve it or they face jail time. Eek.

I always enjoy seeing how their dad is going to help them solve a case and this time I found him even more endearing. I really enjoyed seeing his relationships from his days as a policeman. I like his relationship with Libby's boyfriend. The entire family dynamic is really fun. I did not guess who the guilty party was early in the book and that was nice. The recipes contained go with the theme of the Russian cats.

All in all, it was an enjoyable book. Thank you to Isis Crawford, NetGalley, and Kensington Books for allowing me the chance to read this book and share my honest thoughts and opinions with others.

A crazy cat lady cat cozy. A fluffy, furry bit of an amusing tale (tail?). Some interesting characters.

In this new book of the series Bernie and Libby are tasked with catering a car wedding for a rich older woman. Susie Katz wants two of her cats to be married and is sparing no expense in doing so. She has hired the sisters to not only provide food for the people who are attending but also the animals. While the sisters are setting up they learn that all the people on the guest list aren't friends of Susie's but people who can't stand her. After the ceremony, when the gifts are being opened, a package is delivered that Susie immediately opens. When she opens the box mice pour out and all the cats Chase after them. Susie asks the sisters to help find her babies. When all the cats have been returned to the house Bernie and Libby look for Susie to let her know all is well. They are surprised to find her dead in her office, a letter opener sticking out of her. Who would have killed her and why? When all the other guest wall in and see what has become of Susie all he'll breaks loose. The sheriff blames the sisters for the destruction of the crime scene and gives them a week to figure out Who the killer is? Will they be able to come up with the killer or be arrested? Follow along as they talk to all the guests at the party looking for that one clue that will lead them in the right direction. The sisters are great characters who always make me think of how I am with my own sisters. I like the relationship they have with their father and always look forward to seeing what he'll get into, knowing that his daughters always find out. The plot was a fun one and the cats brought thoughts of all the cats I've ever had to mind. They are truly creatures who were out on this earth to have us serve them!!!

This is the 14th in the series . Each book can be read as a stand alone although I recommend the entire series. The author does introduce the charcters and setting for each new reader. The author has a gift for writing with humor and each book is enjoyable and fun.
In this next in series Bernie and Libby Simmons are catering a cat wedding for an eccentric cat owner/socialite. She loves her cats more than she does her family and friends and is known as a eccentric cat lady . She has made sure to invite plenty of two leg guests that don't approve of her life style or her cats and would like her gone.

During the event Bernie and Libby find her dead and they are on the case right away . They both managed to contaminated the crime scene so now they find they are both prime suspects in the murder. . They must clear their own name as well as find the suspect. The supporting charcters are always fun and add to the story, the cats are catnip to every cat lover.
These books are delightful. They have humor, enjoyable cats and always a good sleuth. i loved it !
Thank you for the ARC which does not influence my review.

This is number 14 in the series and can be read as a standalone story. The author gives the reader plenty of information.

Bernie and Libby are catering a cat wedding for Susie Katz who you could find in Who’s Who under “Crazy cat lady.”

But things of course don't go as planned and Susie ends up dead. Bernie and Libby are tasked with finding out who killed her. They discover Suzie wasn’t a nice or well-liked person unless you are a cat.

There were plenty of laughs. The cats added immensely to the story.

I thought the box of mice was an effective means to clear the event.

Recipes included.

I like cozy mysteries and like when there're cats in them. This wasn't my cup of tea.
I had problems with the characters, I didn't like them, and found the situations and the plot a bit forced.
By the way my cat is a Russian Blue and that type of cat don't act like those described in the book.
Many thanks to Kensington Books and Netgalley for this ARC

Really light classic cozy featuring sisters Bernie and Libby Simmons. I haven't read all of the books in this long running series but that was ok because Crawford, a veteran in the genre, knows how to immerse newbies right away. In this installment, the sisters cater a CAT Wedding for Suzie Katz (the name was a bit much but ok), who ends up dead. Of course, Suzie is a rat and while the sisters are initially considered suspects, they investigate to find the real culprit. Their friends (and their dad- love dad) assist. This one gets close to the top but it's genuinely funny in spots. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
