Unfortunately, this one was not my absolute favorite of the series..Maybe the cat wedding concept is a little bit of a stretch, maybe the way that they got to the end was a little convoluted, maybe I'm getting a little sick of Libby and her whining..There was only 1 or 2 scenes where she shoves chocolate in her mouth in this book - I guess she's finally cutting back.
The 2 (why only two??) recipes didn't sound all that great - beets aren't a favorite so I won't be making that dish and almost everyone has either a recipe for pancakes already or some easy pancake mix in the pantry. I was hoping for the peach and apricot pie recipe, or maybe the shortbread recipe - even the perfectly poached salmon with the new potatoes sounded absolutely amazing. Maybe next time..
Would either Brandon or Marvin finally get off the pot and propose to one of them? Their non-romance romances are getting old - about as old as Matilda.
Overall Grade - B-
I really did like this book it a very good story line and plots loved the characters.. I kept wanting to know what happened next and I just got in to her books when I picked up this series... very interesting
First off, thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to do an advance reading of this. That said, this was just bad. I hadn't read one of these in awhile. Used to really like them. I had A Catered Mother's Day at home, so read it before reading this. It didn't impress me either. Anyway, I think Ms. Crawford is in dire need of subject matter if she's writing about cat weddings now! The victim in this one was not a nice person, unless you might be cat and then she'd like you, so there's no shortage of people who wouldn't mind her shuffling off this mortal coil.. Bernie & Libby are still annoying. They didn't used to be like this, but they just get on my last nerve anymore. Glad I read this one, as between it and the other in the series I recently read let me know I need to just stay away from this series now.
This is the book in the catered mystery series. Bernie and Libby are catering a cat wedding for Susie Katz who defines the phrase crazy cat lady. But things of course don't go as planned and Susie ends up dead. Bernie and Libby are tasked with finding out who killed her.
This was an ok book but not one of my favorites in the series . I think that Bernie and Libby are way to overprotective of their father. I might read the next book but this series is starting to annoy me so I don't know.
I've read all the previous books in this series, and they've been up and down. This book was one of the better entries in the series.
Bernie and Libby Simmons are catering a cat wedding for an eccentric cat owner/socialite. She treats her cats better than she does her family and friends, so when Bernie and Libby find her dead there's no shortage of suspects. Unfortunately for them, they contaminated the crime scene so they're the prime suspects. Together with their friends Brandon and Marvin, and their father Sean, they solve the murder with their usual panache.
The plot was funnier in this one and it moved along faster than in the previous books. 4 stars.
Thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I think the author must be running out of ideas if she’s writing about cat weddings. It was an ok book.
A Catered Cat Wedding is yet another story of sisters Bernie and Libby who run their catering business and when local eccentric asks them to cater a cat wedding they think it will be a great experience.
Unfortunately not only the wedding turns into disaster but the cat owner ends up dead.
But the worst comes after when they accidentally contaminate the murder scene they are given a week by the lical detective to find a killer or else.
Fast paced and funny.
I found the thinking process to be a bit too long at times. Very clever and well written story with solid cast of characters.
Isis Crawford does it again! Bernie and Lonny Simmons are my favorite sleuthing sisters. A crazy cat wedding is yet another hilarious backdrop for the caterers/part-time investigators. There’s never a dull moment and you’ll love the colorful characters the sisters have to deal with.
Thank you for the early copy.
I picked this up because of the plot, I was looking for something cute with a hint of mystery. A interesting and well done novel. I recommend this for fans of cozy mysteries!
My review has been posted to Goodreads.
Review has also been tweeted as usual.
Thank you! :c)
This series has been one of my favorites for a while, and this latest installment did not disappoint. The characters are like dear friends that you don't see very often, but when you do, is like you never spent time apart. I love the way, this far into the series, the author still finds ways to be creative with the mystery and plot. Overall, a wonderful book and a must read!
A cat wedding, a box of mice, and murder all takes place in A Catered Cat Wedding by Isis Crawford.
I will admit I was hesitant to read this book, as the last one left me disappointed, however, this one is a pleasant surprise.
Sisters Bernie and Libby agree to cater a wedding for a rich socialite, who is determined that her Blue Russian cats have the most extravagant wedding money can buy.
Unfortunately for Susie Katz, mother of the cats, is not a very nice person and is found dead moments after a mouse mishap.
It's up to Bernie and Libby to solve the murder, especially since they are considered prime suspects.
This book is well written and the story was fast paced and exciting.
I'm glad I gave A Catered Cat Wedding a chance.
I volunteered to read and review an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
