This one is fun! It's the perfect book for this start of fall and witchy season. I enjoyed the freedom it gave to accept as much as you'd like of witch philosophy and practice, and in part to define it for yourself. Take your time and don't rush. There are lots of gems to absorb, I liked it and will recommend it around.
Inner Witch is a spiritual guide that crafts an easy to follow instructions, advice, and perspectives. This guide features an exploration of various magicks suck as ceremonial and chaos while also delving into smudging, holidays, wands, cups, swords, and pentacles. I enjoyed reading this book and especially enjoyed the core of it being about empowerment which begins with an inner power that I truly believe Gabriela Herstik will help bring out.
Very VERY beginners and this reference book who work best for reades who are interested in witchcraft and want to get a small snippet of what to expect. Holds some decent information.
Such, a great resource, break things down, brings up key values, key point of personal philosophy. Definitely adding to my shelf even as a advanced witch.
Thabk you Netgalley and publisher for allowing me a copy of the Inner Witch. Gabriela Herstik exudes so much knowledge about herbs, oils, rituals, and self-love. She takes the reader through a journey that will teach and guide as they are reading and long after. Perfect for a beginner witch or a seasoned witch who needs a pick me up. Gabriela Herstik is confident and free. A powerful being in her own right & the perfect person to show the reader how to take care of themselves and be confident in themselves.
I've been wanting to read more about witchcraft, so I was very excited when I saw Inner Witch was available to request! I don't think this was a great beginner guide. It felt like too much at once, but I didn't really learn much from it if that makes sense. It just wasn't my cup of tea for a guide to something I am unfamiliar with.
I always love reading books from my sisters, but this one truly made me take pause. While I agree with the statement that no single witch’s practice being exactly the same as another’s and there is some good information from Gabriella’s perspective, I feel like this book was overly ambitious and got off track at times. There is way too little information about way too many topics.
For example, there are complete books dedicated to much of what is in here, meaning there’s a little information about too many topics. Take Tarot or crystals for example. a simple overview of those would have sufficed in how they are used in practice, but trying to delve into the tarot and meanings of the cards is way too much for a single section of a book this size. Then take all other other sections like this and you’ll understand what I mean.
Then take the comments about Beyonce and clothing and other things and I feel like things have gotten off topic more than a few times. If each witch is individual, why are we playing dress up? We wear what empowers us, yes…but examples of each? Seriously? And let’s not forget the credits where the author thanks JK Rowling and the witches in the books. It blurs the line from serious practice of the craft and what millennials think it is based on having grown up on the books and movies.
In summary, it’s a fair introduction, but too much fluff has been added to make a serous practitioner take pause and pass it over. That said, read it and take it with whatever you get from it. It may be wonderful for someone just wanting to learn a little more about the subject.
I personally love this because it aligns with a lot of my personal beliefs but isn't written so far-fetched feeling like many others. It keeps some very useful and eye-opening information on a subject many do not understand.
Thank you Netgalley for tis ARC for an exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book. So much great info here.
Note: Thank you to Netgalley & publishers for allowing me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have to say; it has been a while since I've genuinely disliked a book. As unfortunate as it is to say, this book was very hard to get through. I toughed through it to 78% and had to stop. Now don't get me wrong, there are a few parts that are generally interesting, but not enough to overlook its problems. There are historical inaccuracies, contradictions, borderline cultural appropriation, and the entire book is an unorganized mess of what seem like random thoughts. I also find myself questioning why fashion is included in a 'witchcraft' book and why on earth Beyonce has anything to do with it. I hate to come down so hard on this book, but I have to give my honest opinion. I did not enjoy this read.
