A Coldwater Warm Hearts Christmas by Lexi Eddings
I wasn't expecting such a strong Christian theme throughout the story. I don't mind a little, as I am Christian myself, but I found some of the views on certain topics to not be in line with my personal beliefs. I did really like the Jane Austen book parts of the story, as well as the festiveness. I love a Christmas book that actually feels Christmassy. It's well written, just not my personal cup of tea. I think it'll be a great edition to my library's holiday reading collection, though!
I didn't finish this book but I will be honest and say that it was because I felt the book was incredibly dismissive of people who were not living the Christian ideals. I read more than 40% of the book and had to read very sexist passages and also rude comments about divorce. I will not be finishing this book but I also will not be taking the hit because if this book has not been so offensive to me I would have powered through. I also knew that at the end of reading it my review would be much like this so there you go. Out of respect for the publisher who I have previously enjoyed books from I won't share the review but in the future a book shouldn't shame its readers (my parents were divorced and i found the comments about marriage and not trying hard enough cruel).
Another good read and the setting was good. I enjoyed the characters and the situations. Would definately recommend this book and would read more by this author.
A sweet little holiday read with lots of characters and stories. Felt like a Hallmark movie and it is a great holiday romance read.
Such a cute Christmas read with great characters and a sweet plot! Definitely a great story to curl up next to the fire (real or fake!) and get lost in.
Loved this Christmas tale. Great character, plot and writing. I recommend to romance readers. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my digital arc this is my unbiased review.
One of my favorite Christmas stories ever. Loved the link to my favorite Austen book, Sense & Sensibility too. Highly recommend this one!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
I love a good Christmas Romance, in fact, this is the only time that I will “jump” into an established series without making sure that I start from the beginning… because I’m a firm believer in knowing all the nuances of the people who make up a series. For Christmas stories I will set aside that rule of mine – and often I’ll find myself making the choice of going back and reading the entire series once the Christmas Romance season is behind me for that year. So many times I’ve discovered delightful series this way – all because of my Christmas Romance addiction.
A Coldwater Warm Hearts Christmas is part of a series that I have not yet read, and I wasn’t the least bit lost on picking up the important parts that I needed to know about this town and its residents. In fact, I’ll be picking up this series from the beginning in the New Year.
Angie and Seth make a perfect couple, eventually. First they have to get past their preconceived ideas about each other, and maybe past a few annoying habits as well. I liked them together and individually – it was fun and entertaining to watch them slowly change their minds about each other and come together on some important issues. There is an element of suspense in a sleazy ex-boyfriend and what he’s up to by showing up unexpectedly, and watching Seth take that jerk down was a cheering moment for me. I enjoyed the small town feel and antics of this community. Some laugh out loud moments, some tensions, and a very satisfying ending made this small town one that I want to revisit.
If you’re in the mood for a Christmas Romance that is entertaining but also leaves you with that special “feels good” impression – then you’ll want to check out A Coldwater Warm Hearts Christmas for yourself. I had fun with these characters, this story and I believe you will, too.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
This is a beautifully written heartwarming sweet read set in small town Coldwater Cove, OK. It has touches of humor, heartbreaking moments, and a whole town of meddling matchmakers. Angie is a high school teacher who has lived in Coldwater Cove for a couple of years. She's not sure how it happened so fast but somehow she's gotten roped into directing the town's Christmas pageant this year. Making things even worse she has to work with Seth Parker. These two opposites start of rocky and things get worse before they get so much better! A great holiday read that will leave you with a warm heart and hope. I highly recommend this one.
What a beautifully written, heartfelt holiday tale! I absolutely loved A Coldwater Warm Hearts Christmas.
I loved Seth - how could you not? He's a charmer with a heart of gold. And Angela, my heart broke for her. I wanted so badly for her to open up and find happiness. But I also understood why she closed herself off to relationships and pretty much people in general.
The supporting cast was just as entertaining as Seth and Angela. I was just as invested in their storylines and eagerly awaited to see what would happen with Emma and Tad, and Crystal and Noah.
But what I loved most about this book was that just like the Coldwater Warm Hearts Club members, I, too, stopped to reconsider my life and my actions. This book put my own life into perspective. It was cathartic, soul cleansing, and the right book at the right moment. And I have a feeling that I'll be rereading this quite often this holiday season.
Annual Christmas pageant was to be their project, and nominating Angela to head up the casting. with Seth as her assistant, Heather keep telling Angela to help others, it would make her life easier. Riding with Seth in his truck the battering begins, each wondering why there is the dislike between them. They finally settle with agreement, he won’t bring in his business troubles, and she with her crazy brain ideas. She still sat there tight lipped, he didn’t like her type, and that acid tongue. Readers will love reading how they start off, and how it changes as they work together. Will they find love, or be glad when the Christmas season is over, Another delightful book from the author. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this book. It is a funny read with laugh out moments but also a lovely story with tender, sad and yet uplifting notes of love and romance. Angela Holloway is a high school English teacher in Coldwater Cove, Oklahoma. She has not had the happy life of having a family as her parents were killed in an accident when she was very young. Since she did not have any other relatives, she was passed around in the foster system. While at college at Baylor University, she met Peter, her first and only love-until he dumped her for law school at Georgetown. As a member of the Warm Hearts Club, her best friend, Heather Evans, nominates her to direct the Christmas Pageant. Seth Parker, whose mom was an Evans, becomes the co-director. He is a dream-handsome, gentlemanly, loyal, man of faith, honor, and humor. He started his own construction company after he received his structural engineering degree from Texas Tech. The two start out on shaky ground, but are pretty soon good friends and there is a little attraction in the air. When sleazy Peter happens into small town Coldwater Cove, it is suspicious. What is he up to? How Seth handles Peter is hilarious. Angie's inherited cat, Effie, doesn't like Peter either.
Angie and Seth work well together to get the pageant on the way and enjoy spending time together every day. There are layers to the story, including problems that one of Angie's students is having, a young family having problems and to top it off-Peter and his co-worker Sabine work to stop the pageant from happening. But, the ending includes a lovely and unusual story of Christ's birth, the meaning of His coming to Earth for us. It is a story of love, healing, faith and the Christmas spirit. Coldwater Cove is a small town where everyone knows and supports each other and where the Methodist prayer chain ladies say it is not gossip if you pray over it. The local characters are down home and funny. The plot is great and well developed. This is sweet and special story that I highly recommend. I have already added the other books in the series to my wish list.
I received a complimentary ARC from Kensington through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine.
Angela Holloway and Seth Parker are members of the Coldwater Warm Hearts Club. This year Angie has been nominated to direct the Christmas pageant in town. Since Angie is a teacher, her time is limited and she hesitates because she is also responsible for the set. Seth Parker is a builder and becomes the assistant to help with any construction projects. Rats, just when Angie was swearing off men, this handsome man comes into her life. Funny, sweet and lots of wacky characters to make this a wonderful holiday treat!
A Coldwater Warm Hearts Christmas by Lexi Eddings is available from Kensington Books. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.
Oh sigh! You know this is going to have to have a happy ending right from the start! Angie, a high school teacher who grew up in the foster system, is put in charge of the Goldwater Cove Christmas pageant. Holidays are something she never connected with because of her situation. Neither was love, after she was ditched. Hah! She hadn't met Seth yet! Seth, a construction engineer, is almost her polar opposite but when they work together on the pageant, sparks start to fly. This is a nice, small town series in which each book can be read as a standalone. It's nicely written, the characters are good, and it's a happy relaxing time. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
This book was beautifully written! I loved the way the romance turned from acquaintance to avoidance, and then to a slow building romance. It was realistic and it was raw. It dealt with topics that not only happen, but that can be hard-hitting. it wasn't all fluffy Christmas. There were a meaning and a purpose to the story that I loved. The dynamic cast of characters was diverse and particularly cooky. I now want to read more by this author from this series and other works as well.
A Coldwater Warm Hearts Christmas by Lexi Eddings is the 3rd book in her Coldwater series. This is a sweet series that takes place in the small town of Coldwater Cove in Oklahoma. I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, and though this was a good book and well written, I didn’t think it was quite as good as the first two.
Angie Holloway, our heroine, is a high school teacher, who has only been in Coldwater Cove for a few years. Angie is pushed by her friend Heather to produce the town’s annual Christmas pageant, since the person who has done it for many years is going away on a trip around the world.
Seth Parker, our hero, is also roped into helping Angie direct the pageant, since he owns his own successful construction business, and Angie will need him to build the sets. Angie has had a lot of hardships before she came to Coldwater, having been dumped by her ex-boyfriend years ago, and having lost both of her parents in a tragic accident, which left her under foster care. Needless to say, Angie will not let anyone into her heart, as she never wants to feel the pain of losing someone you love. Because of this, Angie treats Seth very coldly and at times sarcastically, making him puzzled as to why she is so nasty and unreachable. I understood Angie, but thought at times, especially with Seth, she was too cold.
Angie and Seth work together to change and bring the pageant into a more update and modern event. They begin to work well together, and in a short time, they will both begin to have feelings for each other. Just when Angie is ready to open her heart to Seth, a visit from the past threatens to destroy their new relationship. Her ex comes to town, and despite working on a project, he is determined to win her back, much to Seth’s displeasure. Angie also finds herself trying to help a few people in town, who are having personal problems.
What follows is a sweet romance, with the background of all the townspeople and friends working together to make this pageant successful. There are a few twists that could create havoc to the pageant, as well as to some of the people. This will cause Angie to close her heart again. Will Seth find a way to get Angie to open up to him again?
A Coldwater Warm Hearts Christmas was a good romantic story, a very nice couple, wonderful secondary characters, and with a wonderful small town atmosphere.
A sweet romantic Christmas story with a bit of angst and a strong inspirational message to get readers into a reflective holiday mood.
I absolutely love this series. Such emotion. The story and characters grab you and pull you in. You want to laugh and cry at parts
Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the read of Lexi Eddings’ A Coldwater Warm Hearts Christmas.
What a charming, engaging, getting yuletide, feel-good story.
You have a Christmas pageant (awwww)! An old love (uh-oh). A potential new love (yay)! You have hope, faith, and a genuine heart-told story. WHO doesn’t love that?
Kensington Books, well done for publishing a refreshingly wonderful book, and Lexi Eddings, thank you for a great read and giving all the feel-goods.
My opinion - definitely highly recommend. OFtS

A Coldwater Warm Hearts Christmas is the latest installment in Lexi Eddings’ Coldwater Warm Hearts series. Angela Holloway, high school English teacher in the small town of Coldwater Cove, Oklahoma, has always felt it difficult to fit in. Having grown up in the foster system after a car accident claimed both of her orphaned only child parents, her life had been a series of homes where she never felt included.
A quiet child, she had withdrawn into the world of literature. The one time in college that she had opened her heart, and trust, she had been devastated when Peter Manning had broken up with her before leaving for law school.
One of her few close friends, Heather Walker Evans, has convinced Angie to join the Coldwater Warm Hearts group, who take on projects and people to help in their community. Little did Angie know that she would be drafted to direct the community Christmas pageant when Heather’s mother-in-law Shirley relinquishes the role after decades of doing it so she can prepare for a bucket list world cruise. Nor did Heather discuss appointing her husband’s cousin, single construction company owner Seth Parker, as codirector and set maker.
In a delightful, sometimes tense, tale set with the beauty of the Christmas holiday as a backdrop and a most heartfelt rendition of the season’s story, Angie’s heart is opened, her integrity tested, and her past hurts put to rest. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone seeking a meaningful holiday story.
