“I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. This is the first book that I have read by Lexi Eddings. Angie is a quiet school teacher who ends up paired with Seth, the local contractor. They are placed in charge of the local Christmas Pageant. They appear as different as night and day. Seth has difficulty relating to Angie until one day she leaves her copy of a Jane Austin book in his car. Through her notes written in the book, he begins to see another side of Angie. Slowly this brings the two of them together. This book was great!
Angie finds herself quickly thrust into the role of producing the town's annual Christmas pageant - a pageant with such deep tradition that any change will likely ruffle the feathers of some resident. Her co-director is Seth Parker and sparks, and jabs, quickly fly. And then a visit from an old flame attempts to derail a potential new relationship. This is a nice book to read as the seasons change and the weather cools heading in to the holiday season.
Great story. I particularly liked all the references to Sense and Sensibility, and how Angie and Seth's story mirrored the book.
This book was high on religion, low on romance. It should be marketed as a Christian read for those who like that but it wasn't my cup of tea. We didn't really get to see the romance unfold. I was incredibly shocked when Seth had an engagement ring. And it wasn't Christmas y at all.
I like how refreshingly new this story line is....I mean, the author has incorporated pain, loss, suffering, forgiveness, and overcoming, as well as the nativity story, but it's done in a fresh, new way! There were some twists and turns...some things didn't happen that I thought would; some things happened really quickly; and some things were total surprises....and it all worked out really well. I would totally go to see the type of Christmas story that they put on!!
