Another hilarious Jaine Austen book. This time she and Lance are house sitting over the Christmas holidays and the guy next door is a total Scrooge. I love the emails from her parents. They crack me up.
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that is funnier than a Jaine Austen mystery. No matter how your day has gone, once you open this book your mood will automatically be elevated and you will be laughing out loud. Whether it is Jaine's conversations with her cat Prozac, her emails from her parents in Florida or just her general outlook on life, this book is just flat out funny. When Jaine's neighbor and good friend Lance invites her to spend Christmas house sitting Mrs. Van Houtoon's mansion, Jaine is delighted to accept and puts Prozac in a fancy kennel. But the cat is kicked out and winds up moving into the house next door, where she is doted upon by Mrs. Van Houtoon's neighbor Missy. Of course mayhem, murder and mystery ensue and once again it is Jaine to the rescue! I totally loved this book and highly recommend it.
I’ve read all of Jaine’s adventures because I think Laura Levine writes a really fun cozy. The last few installments though I’ve grown weary of the amount of emails from both her mother and father. They just go on too long - like page fillers - and really add nothing to the storyline. Other than that, a quick read when you want something fun and pretty outrageous.
Oh my goodness. I have enjoyed this series for years but not anymore. Jaine has no backbone and Lance gets worse in every book. He is atrociously mean to her, everyone is mean to her and she never sticks up for herself. I'd like to see Jaine beat the crap out of Lance and everyone else in her life who is horrible to her. Until then I won't be reading anymore
Fans of this series will absolutely love Death of a Neighborhood Scrooge.
For Jaine, life is all about ice cream, brownies and staying out of trouble. This book is filled with all of the above.
I don't want to give anything away, so my actual review will come later.
I've been a huge fan of this series from the moment I met Jaine and Prozac. Each book just gets better and when I think I've found my favorite, Ms. Levine puts out another fantastic addition to the series.
The cliffhanger ending has me waiting anxiously for the next incredible book.
I think we all need a little bit of Jaine in our lives, she certainly puts a smile on my face whenever I read about her and her quirky parents.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for approving me to read and review an ARC of this book.
