This is a fun series and set in such a quaint location, it makes me want to visit Mackinac Island. Allie runs the McMurphy Hotel, which she inherited from her Grandfather. She has a small fudge shop associated with the hotel as well. The amateur sleuth is thrown into the middle of a couple of murders. The murderer is leaving notes addressed to her with the bodies, plus there are strange goings on at the hotel.

I enjoyed this mystery. The characters are likeable and each has their own unique personality. The writing style is easy to read and makes such a nice escape. I had my suspicions as to who the murderer was. There are some twists and a bit of angst along with the story. Enjoyable.

Forever Fudge by Nancy Coco is book 6 in the Candy Coated Mystery series. It is the second one I have read but could be a stand alone.
The tourist season has just wound down on the island, but now a film company is there filming a pilot for tv and the star is shadowing sheriff Rex.
Allie is out walking her fur baby, Mal, and the first body is found in the alley with a note for Allie and a chess move. Unbeknownst to the killer, Allie does not know much about chess. When one of the guestrooms in the McMurphy is the target of a bloody prank and then Mal comes up missing, Allie is set to find the murderer. Then she finds a second body and it fuels her even more.
Sheriff Rex is falling for Allie and Allie is torn between him and her ex Trent.
You have a great cast of characters, plenty of twists and turns, romance, and even humor. Oh, and did I say fudge recipes, yum! I did not want to put it down and was kept guessing until the end.
My only negative is the love triangle between the ex and Rex. She needs to make a decision.
I was given an ARC by Netgalley and Kensington Publishing for an honest review.

Forever Fudge is the sixth installment in the Candy-Coated Mystery series set on Mackinac Island and featuring hotelier and fudge maker, Allie McMurphy. The tourist season is coming to a close and a TV production crew has arrived to shoot the exterior shots for the pilot of an upcoming mystery series.

The hunky Dirk Benjamin has been cast as the leading character, a police detective, and is shadowing local Mackinac detective Rex Manning for the week. The leading writer for the series Jeffrey Jenas, has been living on the island incognito for most of the season gathering background information on the earlier cases that Allie and her adorable sidekick, the fluffy Mal, have been involved.

When Mal discovers the body of a man in the alley behind the McMurphy and later finds a sock with the dead man's toe, the hunt for a killer begins. Someone is also playing nasty pranks on Allie and with each gruesome discovery the killer is leaving a taunting note addressed to her containing a chess clue. Unfortunately, Allie doesn't really play chess so she must rely on her friends at the Senior Center to help decipher the clues.

A fast paced plot with well developed, recurring characters, delightful pets and mouthwatering fudge recipes. The only drawback for me in this series is the dreaded love triangle - I really hope that the author will choose the man for Allie before too long.

I received an advanced copy of Forever Fudge from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review I am more than happy to offer my honest opinion.

Allie McMurphy's first season as an entrepreneur on Mackinac Island is drawing to a close, but instead of being a quiet time to switch gears from fudge tours to renovations, she's being hounded (and possibly threatened) by those in town to join in and donate $2,000 to a bid for a film crew to shoot on her side of Main Street. Not that she doesn't want to be a part of a little healthy rivalry, but she has plans for that money for her own business. Filming begins and with it comes a body count. This isn't the typical "stumble across a dead body" situation for which she's becoming known. This time, the killer leaves a message for her at each scene.

I really liked this one. Nancy Coco does an excellent job of messing with your head while you try to figure out who the baddie is. While you're being led around, trying to figure out what's going on, relationships grow and become tested. I have to say, she can make your heart race and you fall for a guy without being racy. WOW. Some intense moments between Allie and Rex and I am hoping to see something develop soon between those too. Her writing of the island really puts you in it. She wraps it all up cozily and throws in some delicious recipes for you to go along with.

Thank you to NetGalley, Nancy Coco, and Kensington Books for allowing me the chance to read and review this story. I definitely recommend it.

This is the 6th book in the series . I recommend the entire series .
In this next in series, our savvy protagonist Allie McMurphy is busy running her popular families fudge shop on picturesque Mackinac Island. The fudge shop has been in her family for 100 years and she is proudly using family recipes and is very popular on the island. The descriptions of the fudge and the shop are part of the charm of this series. She also manages a hotel her family owns which is described in detail as the perfect island destination.
The setting of the island is always delightful as its a step back in time to a slower pace of life. The author is very descriptive as she pulls you into the daily slow pace of island life and the laid back lifestyle. There are charming shops , nice friendly shop owners, and people who are genuinely kind and have a sense of a real community. So every book is such fun to return to this island life.
The protagonist, Allie McMurphy has a dog who seems to have a knack for finding dead bodies. This next murder is even more concerning as it seems to be a copycat murder . While Allie is investigating she finds that those she loves are targets and in danger. This added a element to the story that kept this reader turning pages into the early hours. i had to find out what happened! The sleuth was very well crafted and kept me guessing. As a avid mystery reader i was quite pleased to have such a exceptional whodunit and enjoyed the sleuth, clues and conclusion.
A added bonus are the recipes the author includes . They are perfect for holiday baking.. Thank you to the publisher and to net galley for the ARC which does not influence my opinion. I look forward to the next in series!

Forever Fudge by Nancy Coco is the 6th book in the Candy Coated Mystery series, and another great adventure. Allie McMurphy runs the fudge shop and the historic McMurphy Hotel on Mackinac Island in Michigan. Allie and her dog Mal, short for Marshmallow, have a reputation of discovering dead bodies, and they do it again, more than once. Allie is busy making fudge and try to find out the truth. The mystery was full of twists and turns, and is fast paced and has well developed characters and plot. This book has mystery, romance, and humor, which I enjoyed. I look forward to reading more books by this author, and can't wait for the next one in the series. I strongly recommend this book and this whole series, for who love cozy mystery books with darling animals.

This review is based on the ARC provided by the author and/or the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book has all the components of a cozy mystery; however it did not hold my interest.
I would recommend reading the previous books in the series before this one.

FOREVER FUDGE, the sixth book in the Candy-Coated Mysteries by Nancy Coco is set at one of the best locations of any series I’ve read: Mackinac Island. A quaint setting that makes the reader feel like they’re visiting another time and place (the movie Somewhere in Time was filmed here). Ms. Coco uses this location effectively and bases her new book on a mystery show being filmed on the island. This set-up showcases island living such as a slower pace of life, charming shops and shop owners, and people who know each other and are neighborly… until murder jars the community. The protagonist, Allie McMurphy, owns McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop. Her adorable pup, Mal, happens to be a murder magnet and drags Allie into finding dead bodies. But this time is different… the murderer seems to be a copycat killer based on the previous cases Allie has solved. The killer starts taunting Allie, daring her to solve this new crime and then ups the ante by targeting those she cares about. I found the scenario and scenes chilling and couldn’t stop turning pages to find out what happens next! The killer also uses chess moves to engage Allie. Since I don’t play chess I couldn’t really follow the clues so I found it a bit distracting.

I liked that the action starts right away and the supporting characters who are long-term fixtures on the island are well developed. The ladies at the senior center add entertainment to the story and I hope we see more of them in future releases. With the film crew, support staff, and actors on the island, there is a whole cast of suspects to choose from and Allie has her hands full trying to narrow down the list. The conclusion was suspenseful and one that I didn’t see coming. Ms. Coco provides a unique twist and I didn’t even suspect the villain! I also enjoyed reading through the fudge recipes sprinkled throughout the book. These recipes sound mouth-wateringly delicious and perfect for the holidays coming up.

One of these days I hope to visit Mackinac Island, rent a bike, work off all of the fudge I know I will not be able to resist and, of course, not find even one body while I'm there. Poor Allie seems to attract them like a magnet. It's the end of the tourist season and a movie crew has arrived to do some filming. The front of Allie's store and hotel are to be part of the local scene. But it's what is found in the alley that becomes the focal point - a dead body. Complete with a note from the killer, taunting her to solve the crime. As if she hasn't got enough to deal with! One murder leads to another, toss in a kidnapping, her business is short staffed, she is dating two guys (I vote for the hunky cop) and there is that movie crew.
This is one of my favorite series, well crafted with fully developed characters that I find very believable. The clues are there, a twist and a few turns, of course and oh, all of that yummy fudge!

Got hooked from the start!
The plot is well developed, with a sequence of events to keep interesting and guessing til the end.

Dead bodies, cryptic notes, nasty pranks and a missing (ex?) boyfriend has Allie stretched to her limits. As owner of McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop she already has her hands full when two employees have gone on their honeymoon. Now there seems to be a killer in town who is testing Allie to see if she can figure out the guilty party before she or someone she loves becomes the next victim.

This story is a good mix of mystery, suspense and romance with an interesting twist at the end. It is book six in A Candy Coated Mystery series but could easily be read as a stand alone. The story also comes with some delicious sounding recipes. Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

“Forever Fudge” earns 5/5 Fudgy Fun…Clever, Engaging, and Tasty, too!

Top notch mystery! Wonderful characters! Realistic investigations! And a bit of humor!

Well, it's fudge! It's a no-brainer that I would jump on board with Nancy Coco’s sixth book in her Candy-Coated Mystery series. Although I've joined late and much has been developed with the storyline and characters, I easily became engaged in the book and enough references to background and character connections were provided without any spoilers. Allie McMurphy owns a delightful hotel and fudge shop on Mackinac Island, and as are many residents, excited about the film crew arriving on the island to film a television pilot for a mystery series. The idea of using the front of her historic Victorian building and adding to their popularity is a bittersweet prospect that also pits one side of the street against the other. However, it's the dead body found in the alley and a note from the killer that taunts Allie back into another murder investigation. There's a heartthrob actor queasy at seeing a real dead body shadowing the local cop, a possible ex-boyfriend and another budding romance both not without some conflict, ins and outs of hoteling and chocolating, and a murder mystery seemingly arranged for Allie to solve. All of this makes Nancy’s well-written first-person narrative, page-turner investigation, entertaining banter, and great characters a “must read” cozy…and the five marvelous fudge recipes sprinkled in between the chapters are a delicious bonus!

It is always a delight to spend some time on Mackinac Island even if it does make me crave fudge. An interesting mystery. Some romantic entanglements, an adorable dog and cat, loyal friends, and a television crew add to the fun.

Forever Fudge is the 6th book(includes 2 e-novellas) in The Candy-Coated Mystery series.

I love heading to Mackinac Island and stopping in to visit with Allie and Jenn at the McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop.

Allie is quite busy this time as Francis and Mr. Delaney are off on their honeymoon and Jenn is busy planning a fund-raiser for the Butterfly House. It’s Tuesday after Labor Day and Allie is busy going over the financial’s for the season when Jenn has some exciting news to pass on. She has heard that there will be a pilot for a mystery series to be filmed on the island and the cast and crew are already assembling to begin production. Later that day Allie has taken her bichon-poo, Mal, out for a walk. As Allie is greeting her friend Mr. Beecher Mal as she is prone to do, she finds a man slumped next to a building with a hat covering his head. The man has been shot in the head. In his hand is a note addressed to Allie that has two letters and a number written on it. Allie doesn’t have a clue what the note might mean and Mr. Beecher says that it appears to be a chess move. Apparently, someone is taunting Allie to investigate another murder. Allie calls 911 and within minutes Rex Manning, the police chief, arrives on the scene with his shadow. His shadow, being the Dirk Benjamin who will be portraying Rex in the television pilot. Then Mal finds a sock that has man’s toe in it. When a second body is found that was similar to the first one and more chess moves are left for Allie. Allie continues to stand by her promise not to get involved in searching out the killer. But that changes when her former boyfriend, Trent Jessop goes missing.

This another well-plotted and told story from Nancy Coco. The book had a wonderful cast of interesting and believable characters. The book also has delicious sounding recipes included with the book.

I’ll be looking forward to the next book in this exciting series. I’ll be interested to hear how the Delaney’s honeymoon was and what is new with Allie and Rex.

I really enjoyed the latest offering in Nancy Coco's A Candy-Coated Mystery series. Allie is bright and likable, and her surrounding cast of characters are enjoyable. This mystery had me guessing with twists that pointed me in all directions until the surprising end. I am on team Rex, and I enjoyed the potential in 'Forever Fudge'. I love this series and highly recommend it to all!

Who is trying to bait Allie? That's the question when her pup Mal finds a body behind the Hotel and Fudge Shop. I'm happy Allie is back because I like the Mackinac Island setting, the recipes (yum!) and the characters. The mystery here of who killed Jack and set Allie up with a chess clue getting more interesting when Mal finds another body (hire that dog!). Allie's romantic indecision between Trent and Rex is heightened when Trent becomes part of the bad guy's plot (a pawn, dare I say?). It's a good, not too twisty mystery with, at least this time around, something for those who play chess (which was a treat.). Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

In Forever Fudge, Allie McMurphy is closing out her first summer season on Mackinac, having taken over her family’s historic McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop a few months earlier. It’s Labor Day weekend and things on the island are starting to wind down… or are they?

A TV crew has descended on Mackinac Island, shooting a pilot for a new mystery series. In fact, the series bears more than a little resemblance to what’s been happening over the summer, with a murder mystery to be solved, a plucky amateur sleuth, and a heartthrob local law enforcement officer.

But in the midst of the excitement, Allie’s sweet little fluffy dog Mal (short for Marshmallow) sniffs out a real murder, complete with a dead body, in the alley behind the McMurphy. The plot thickens when a note with Allie’s name is found at the scene. It turns out the killer wants to play a clever game with our heroine to see if she lives up to her reputation as the island sleuth… but this time, Allie may have bitten off more than she can chew!

First of all, if you haven’t read the rest of the series, I’d highly recommend starting at the beginning! Forever Fudge references cases and incidents from previous titles, so although you can read it on its own, it’ll be more satisfying if you go back and start with the series’ first title, All Fudged Up!

The theme in this book is wrapping up the summer season… a character is leaving Mackinac, Allie is trying to make some choices about her relationships, and she’s reflecting back on the last few months of a major life transition. Just to top it off, a killer starts targeting her by setting up references and similarities to previous crimes she’s helped solve on the island.

As Allie, her friend Jen, our local policeman (and Allie’s possible love interest) Rex, and others meet the film crew, get to the bottom of pranks, and uncover more crimes, they have to decipher some confusing clues relating to an old chess match. Later, when the killer ups the stakes by kidnapping a prominent Mackinac resident, Allie and her friends must race against the clock for answers.

This is a great addition to the Candy Coated Mystery series. Obviously, I love the setting and that adds so much flavor to these books! I’ve become fond of Allie, and I’m certain that I know who I’m rooting for between her suitors. Most of all, the people and the community feel in these books is part of what brings us all back to cozy mystery titles again and again!

Forever Fudge releases on September 25th… make it your last hurrah to the summer season before diving into your fall and Christmas reads!! Happy reading, everyone!

Forever Fudge is the latest great entry in the Candy-Coated Mysteries and I really enjoyed it! What I liked about this book: the quaint, picturesque, old-fashioned setting of Mackinac Island; the excitement of a TV pilot being filmed in town; protagonist Allie sticking to her guns and doing what she thinks is right for the McMurphy; the mysterious murders, pranks, and letters aimed at Allie; the tasty recipes throughout the book. There were a few things that I didn't like as much: a few characters I like were hardly in it (though they had a very good reason); Allie's indecision about Trend & Rex; part of the big reveal was a bit confusing and underwhelming. Overall, I thought it was a great addition to the series and am looking forward to the next book, wondering if it will take place in the off-season and offer a slice of Mackinac in winter.

I received an advance copy of this book. This review contains my honest & unbiased thoughts and opinions.
