I really enjoy this series and seeing the new candies that Bailey comes up with and how she works around some of the Amish rules and still manages to make great candy. She finds herself trying to work around making her candies and her ex coming to town wanting to film at her shop. She does not want him there and when a murder occurs, she has to figure out a way to solve it and find out the truth about what and why the murder happened.
Great series and can't wait to see what Bailey will get into next.

Premediated Peppermint is the third book in the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series by Amanda Flower. Bailey King's favorite time of year just happens to be Christmas time. Especially now that's she back home in Ohio helping run her grandparents Amish candy shop. This Christmas is bitter sweet as it's Bailey's first without some close to her. She's growing to a certain deputy sheriff. Whom his mother and her pet pig are trying to play matchmaker. However what Bailey didn't count on her ex-boyfriend showing up with a TV crew in tow. But then when the producer is found murder her ex-boyfriend becomes the prime suspect. Bailey is determined to clear his name so she can get home out of her town.
Since Christmas is also my favorite time of the year I enjoyed this Christmas cozy mystery. I think it may be my favorite of the series so far. Gotta love Jerto the pet pig
Bailey is one of my favorite cozy mystery sleuths. I can also relate to part of what Bailey is going through in the book of getting through that first holiday season without a loved one. This book is perfect for fans of cozy mysteries. Christmas mysteries and Christmas books in general. This book is a fairly quick read perfect to read in either November or December. Or anytime if you want that Christmas feeling say in July.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
Bailey King is excited about the upcoming Harvest Christmas Market. She has just settled in with her grandmother to run Swissmen Sweets, an Amish candy shop, and they are featuring peppermint treats at their table. Unfortunately, Bailey’s past rears its ugly head when her ex-boyfriend and New York celebrity tv chef, Eric Sharp, arrives and wants to insert himself back into Bailey’s life. Eric wants to use Bailey and her store to film a show to soften his brash image on tv. Unfortunately, Eric’s executive producer is murdered and now Eric is the primary suspect. Bailey doesn’t want to help him, but she knows he’s too selfish to be guilty. Can Bailey fend off Eric’s advances and uncover the real murderer without ruining the budding romance she has brewing with Sheriff’s Deputy Aiden Brody?
Amanda Flower does an excellent job with her characters! Bailey is a fun character and her best friend, Cass, is a total hoot. But can I just say I love Jethro? Jethro is a potbellied pig owned by Aiden’s mom and appears to function as a pampered support pig. The scenes with him are priceless as Jethro, despite being voiceless, definitely expresses his opinions.
I haven’t read many books about the Amish (only one book by Jodi Picoult comes to mind) and thus I found the tensions between the traditional Amish and the English to be quite intriguing. I love the tiny insights Amanda Flower gives us into the culture and the role the church plays in their lives. I look forward to more journeys into the Amish culture as I can’t wait to read the earlier books in the series as well as the next book in the series!
PREMEDITATED PEPPERMINT is the third book in the <i>Amish Candy Shop Mystery</i> series and wow, how have I missed joining in on this fun series earlier? Amanda Flower is quickly becoming one of my favorite cozy mystery authors, which is why I stepped outside my comfort zone to read an Amish mystery by her and I was not disappointed. PREMEDITATED PEPPERMINT has it all- a solid mystery, fabulous characters, and some darned good humor!

Bailey King, New York confectionary creator and one of the few non-Amish workers in the town of Harvest, Ohio is ready for the Christmas season with peppermint bark and her new romance with the local deputy. Last thing she needs is for her ex-boyfriend Chef Eric Sharp to blow into her town like a blizzard with Hollywood hype and a producer bent on filming a "real" Amish Christmas. Bailey wouldn't mind a little publicity but not when it becomes murder and the main suspect is Eric. Bailey is as soft hearted as a marshmallow in a cup of warm cocoa and does her best to help Eric while making it clear that his amorous attentions are not wanted. Thankfully her partner in crime or chocolate, the new boss at JP Chocolates, Cass is back to help. Bailey is a wonderful character and those recipes are the BEST. Read this fast and still didn't figure it out until the very end, so many possibilities and a twist or two for added measure. The only thing sweeter than this story is the next one that I can't wait to read!
Another excellent edition to a wonderful series! Full of twists and turns that leaves you wanting more and enjoying each moment until the end when the killer is caught.
Amish Candy Shop Mystery has become one of my absolute favorite cozy mystery series I love the characters and settings.
Amanda Flower is a very talented author. You don’t find many authors that can create different worlds and different characters in different series. Most of the time when you read different series by the same author you’ll read either the same likeness of characters or somehow the storyline will feel like you’ve read it before. This is one reason I love reading books by Amanda Flower because you don’t feel like you read the same book or characters before.
So far, this story is my favorite book in the series, the twist and turns in this mystery had me coming back for more until I was done and shocked as to who done it. Bailey relationship picks up more as she and Aiden get close, but with Bailey’s new job offer we are left with a lot of questions as what is going to happen next, which leaves me with I can’t wait for the next installment.
It’s Christmas time in the small town of Harvest in Ohio. Bailey King and her Amish grandmother are busy in their Swissmen Sweets shop. It’s a busy time of year for the candy business. It hasn’t been that long since Bailey left her job and her ex-boyfriend in New York City for the small town life. She is shocked when her ex-boyfriend shows up in Harvest. He wants to film his TV show in the shop and reunite with his former girlfriend. Bailey wants none of that, but Eric isn’t backing off.
When Eric’s executive producer is murdered, all eyes turn in his direction. He begs Bailey to help prove his innocence. However, Bailey isn’t so sure he *is* innocent and neither is her new boyfriend, who happens to be the sheriff deputy investigating the homicide.
As Bailey does her own investigating, she begins to realize that the victim had quite a few secrets. This leads to quite a few suspects with more reason to kill than Eric. Bailey is determined to get to the bottom of this murder mystery.
This is the third book in the series. I haven’t read the first two books and I was a little worried about jumping into the middle of it. I had no reason to worry. There’s more than enough information included throughout the book so I didn’t feel lost at all. In fact, for me, it was just the opposite. I felt like I already knew Bailey.
The cast of characters are well rounded and very likeable. The setting is perfect for a cozy mystery. The author painted a vivid picture and I can still smell the peppermint through the pages. I like the mix of Amish and Englisch ways. We learn a bit about the Amish customs as we read this one. It felt authentic to me and brought me right into the story from the beginning.
The storyline is fast-paced. I didn’t figure out whodunnit until Bailey did towards the end. As all the facts unfolded, I realized what happened. It is a well-written mystery.
This can easily become a “must read” series for me. I do need to go back and read the first two, but I will. I’m looking forward to book #4.
Premeditated Peppermint by Amanda Flower is the third book in the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. Bailey is spending her first Christmas with her Amish grandmother. She is looking forward to a simple holiday season. That is sidelined when her ex-boyfriend shows up with a camera crew in tow. He plans to rekindle his romance with Bailey in Amish country to save his floundering career. When the shows producer is murdered, he begs Bailey to help find the murderer before he is arrested. I love this series. The Amish setting mixed with Bailey and her non-Amish friends is well done. The ending was a surprise to me, and I am looking forward to book four.
Premeditated Peppermint by Amanda Flower is the third book in Amish Candy Shop Mystery series but can be read as a standalone.
This is the first book in the series for me but I had no trouble following the story.
It's Christmas time in a tiny Amish town and Bailey, recently relocated from New York is working with her grandmother in her chocolate shop. Idyll is interrupted when her ex-boyfriend shows up uninvited and wants to film authentic Christmas featuring her chocolate shop. And then tragedy strikes and murder happens, making her ex-boyfriend chief suspect.
While Bailey's new love, deputy Sheriff is insistent on making her ex the culprit, ex on the other hand tries to make her find out the truth.
Well written, light cozy with beautiful setting and likable characters this book is the perfect seasonal read. It's nicely paced and entertaining.

Christmas is Bailey King’s favorite time of year. For her first Yuletide in Harvest, Ohio, the former big city chocolatier is recreating a cherished holiday treat: peppermint combined with molten white chocolate. But her sugar high plummets when her former boyfriend walks into the candy shop she now runs with her Amish grandmother. New York celebrity chef Eric Sharp and his TV crew have arrived to film an authentic Amish Christmas. Bailey’s not about to let her beloved town and Swissmen Sweets be turned into a sound bite. Unfortunately, she gets more publicity than she bargained for when Eric’s executive producer is found strangled to death and Eric’s the prime suspect. With Bailey’s sheriff deputy boyfriend out to prove Eric’s guilt, her bad-boy ex tries to sweet-talk her into helping him clear his name, and rekindle their romance to boost ratings for his show. Now, between a surplus of suspects and a victim who wasn’t who she seemed, Bailey’s edging dangerously close to a killer who isn’t looking to bring joy to the world or to Bailey this deadly Noel.<br /><br />The author once again gives us another great mystery that is well written and well paced. There are plenty of clues and enough suspects to make the mystery hard to solve until the surprising reveal of the killer. The characters are well written and life like which makes them believable and realistic. When the author had Bailey having to make two different decisions for the course of her life I found myself liking her decision about which guy she wanted to be with and then wondering if the decision she made about life in Harvest Ohio will play out in a good way which we will find out in the next book. I'm looking forward to the next book in the Amish Candy Shop series to see what happens to Bailey and her family and friends.<br /><br />I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Kensington Books for my honoest review. <br />

A picturesque village. Delightful sweet treats. A polka-dotted pet pig. And… murder?
Premeditated Peppermint is the third title in Amanda Flower's Amish Candy Shop series. This title showcases the village of Harvest at Christmas time.
Bailey, like many cozy mystery heroines, seems to find herself in a jam more often than not! And Eric, her ex from New York, has brought her nothing but trouble. But she couldn't have imagined just how much turmoil he was bringing when he wandered into Harvest. As she deals with his presence, the murder of his producer, and the hint of a new romance with a very handsome deputy, Bailey must also find time to care for her grandmother, and make Christmas candy for the festival and the shop!
I love the characters in this town... they are colorful, and flawed, and big hearted. Well, most of them anyway! Even the four legged characters are enjoyable! And it's fun to see how Bailey is adjusting to life in a small community, and how she balances the delicate line between the English and the Amish. The author has managed to make the story funny but also suspenseful, and the result is a very enjoyable concoction!
Premeditated Peppermint is out now... read as a standalone or as part of the series, it's a delightful addition to your stack of holiday cozy mystery titles! Highly recommended... happy reading, friends!
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for a complimentary review copy of this title.
This is the third book in the Amish Candy Shop Mystery series. I've read them all and in my opinion, they get better and better with each book.
It's Christmas time in Harvest, OH at Swissmen's Sweets. Bailey King is happily getting ready for the holidays when her old boyfriend Eric comes into town with a film crew hoping to film at the shop. Unfortunately for Eric, the producer is found murdered and he's a suspect. Bailey investigates because she knows he couldn't have done it and she wants him to go back to NYC.
The plot is interesting and the descriptions of the town are charming. The characters are fun and quirky. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
Thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Bailey King loves the Christmas season, and is especially looking forward to enjoying being with her grandmother back in Harvest, OH. Unfortunately, her NYC-ex, Eric, arrives in town with a production team for a reality baking show. Adding to her horror, the producer is murdered and enlists her help to prove his innocence.
I enjoyed both of the first two books in the Amish Candy Shop series, and this one does not disappoint. Your favorite characters are back, including Cass, her BFF, helping her investigate and negotiate the Amish simple life.
Amanda Flower is such a great storyteller, and the 3rd installment of the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries is no exception. Now I'm craving peppermint meltaways!

Dollycas’s Thoughts
Everything is not Merry this Christmas season in Harvest, Ohio. Eric Sharp, Bailey King’s ex has shown up with a camera crew to catch on film an authentic Amish Christmas for his new television show just in time for annual Harvest Christmas Market. Seems his producers need the celebrity chef to be more human/friendly and they think this episode will do the trick. The problem is that he wants to showcase Swissmen Sweets and just expects Bailey to go along with his plan, never thinking about her grandmother, an Amish woman that has no desire to been seen on camera. The Amish community itself shuns any type of photographic participation.
Early the next morning as Bailey is on her way to tell the producer that it is unlikely that her grandmother will approve any filming in the sweet shop, she notices something that draws her to the gazebo in the park. As she arrives she finds the producer dead and Eric Sharp standing over the body. Of course, he is the prime suspect but Bailey can’t wrap her head around Eric as a killer. She quickly finds herself involved in several Christmas Market events and she plans to use that as a way to try to clear Eric from the suspect list. She is no longer sweet on him, but she hopes to keep him out of jail for the holidays.
Peppermint, peppermint, and more peppermint. I was craving it throughout this whole book and it is darn hard to find peppermint bark or fudge or canes this time of year. I had to settle for the hard candy and that didn’t really curb my cravings. 🙂 Can’t wait for Christmas candy to hit the stores, probably any day now.
The characters in this series are so much fun. Amish and Englishers do their best to coexist in Harvest. Bailey and her grandmother have hired Charlotte to work with them at Swissmen Sweets. This way Bailey has time to get caught up in her investigations. Her relationship with Deputy Aiden Brody gets just a little bit closer. His mother already has them engaged and headed down the aisle. She and her pet pig, Jethro are involved again in the whole story and that leads to some very humorous moments. She thinks Jethro needs to make his television debut and someday have a show of his own.
The mystery was pretty complex. Who would want Rocky Rivers dead? Are they Amish or Englisch? and what was she hiding? I loved that Bailey’s BFF hopped on a plane and flew to Harvest to be at Bailey’s side when she heard Eric had come to town. Cass thinks on her feet and not only helped with the investigation but played a big part in getting Bailey an offer that may be just too hard to refuse. They work well together and find some huge clues the police had missed.
Well written and plotted, Amanda Flower has given her readers one sweet treat to devour this holiday season. Christmas in Harvest sounds delightful, sans the murder, of course. A perfect escape for when the temps get lower and the snow starts to fly.
Bailey King was working in New York as a chocolatier before she decided to return to Harvest, Ohio, On a visit home, her grandfather died and she decided to remain and help her Amish grandmother run their family owned candy shop, Swissmen Sweets. The fact that she had just ended a relationship also helped her with that decision. In this story, Bailey is preparing peppermint treats for their booth at the Yuletide in Harvest Festival when she gets an unexpected and unwanted visit. Eric, her ex, has brought a film crew to Harvest to produce an episode for his new reality cooking show. His plan is to include Bailey and her Amish ties and possibly rekindle their romance. As Bailey's grandmother is waiting to hear back from the Bishop about filming in the store, when the executive producer is found strangled to death. Eric becomes the prime suspect, and Bailey is sure he would not kill anyone. She jumps right in to the investigation and has to juggle her feelings with Aiden, the sheriff's deputy with her loyalty to Aiden and the possibility of a New York television show of her own.
I enjoy the characters in this series. Bailey is developing Amish friendships, thus allowing the reader to learn about the Amish customs, through the Englischer's eyes. Aiden is a deputy sheriff and he and Bailey seem to be developing a relationship. His mother, Juliet, is definitely the humorous element to the story as she divides her time and attention between her adorable pot-bellied pig Jethro and matchmaking between Aiden and Bailey. Emily is a young Amish girl with family difficulties, who works in the pretzel shop next to Swissman's. There are an assortment of other characters who fill out the story, many with the television company. The plot of the story was well developed with some story lines about life in the town and relationships. The mystery had some suspects, but motive was a stickler. Once the motive was introduced near the end, I quickly figured out the murderer, and as the clues fell into place, I was correct. The ending was well done and satisfying.
Premeditated Peppermint by Amanda Flower is the third book in the cozy Amish Candy Shop Mystery series and I have enjoyed them all. Amanda Flower is becoming one of my favourite cozy mystery authors. I am looking forward to the next book in this delightful, mystery series. The publisher, Kensington Books, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, opinions and ideas are my own.
I love this cozy mystery series by Amanda Flower! The characters are great. The storyline is filled with humor, yet the mystery is hard to solve until the very end of the story. I loved the Christmas/peppermint theme to this particular story. The Christmas parade scene was great fun, and I wished that I really could visit this small town and go to the candy shop. Just the right book for light, entertaining reading during the holidays.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
My rating: 3 of 5 stars, I liked it.
Book 3 in the series.
"Peppermint is much more than a Christmastime treat. It has a thousand uses. It has been used to freshen breath, flavor beverages, calm nerves and even grow hair. But as far as I could tell, it did not have the power to repel ex-boyfriends."
The very first paragraph made me laugh out loud, and pulled me right in to the story. It was well written, the setting interesting and I did enjoy it. But....
While I like Amanda Flower's writing, this isn't my favorite series. I'm having a hard time connecting with the characters. I'm not sure why, exactly. I just know that I found myself setting this one down a few times and reading something else. I much prefer her Magical Bookshop series, and her Amish Quilt Shop series, written as Isabella Alan.
Yummy! what could be sweeter than a mystery set in Ohio's Amish country in a little candy shop? Maybe Bailey's Peppermint Bark? The sweet holiday treat may just implicate a murderer! when the wrappers are left behind in the gazebo at the scene of a murder! This delectable, addictive sweet treat just may prove deadly.
I love this series and I just love Amanda Flower's writing! She always leaves me hanging on every word and guessing who did it til the very end. I have a great time trying to figure out "who did it" when I read her books and this one is no exception.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series, "Toxic Toffee" and there's a teaser chapter to whet the reader's whistle.
I am rating this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to readers who love mysteries.
I received a digital version of this book from netgalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.
Premeditated Peppermint
by Amanda Flower
I passed on the first two books in this series as the idea of a cozy mystery themed around an Amish candy shop just didn’t sound like it had enough excitement and pizazz for me. Then I read a few books by this author, Amanda Flower, from a different series and realized I should give the Amish Candy Shop Series a try. I’m glad I did.
Bailey, an Englischer, moves from New York City to help her Amish grandmother with the family candy shop. As Bailey, her grandmother, and cousin Charlotte get ready to display their peppermint themed goodies at the town’s Christmas Market, Bailey’s former boyfriend Eric, a pastry chef, invades the town of Harvest with a television crew. His motives are mixed and at odds with the Amish beliefs and traditions. The quiet town is soon upended by a murder. Is the murderer a local or one of the big city imports?
In Premeditated Peppermint, as Bailey tries to solve the mystery, we meet an interesting group of locals. Aiden is a deputy sheriff and he and Bailey seem drawn to each other. His mother, Juliet, is a hoot as she divides her time and attention between her adorable pot-bellied pig Jethro and possibilities of a romance for the young couple. Margot is on the town council and manages to keep everyone stirred up with exciting plans to promote the town. Emily is a young Amish girl with family difficulties. The Keims have a Christmas tree farm. There are an assortment of other characters who fill out the story.
This is not a purely Amish story. The Amish customs are contrasted with those of their Englischer neighbors. There are even mixed families, and the problems that causes are evident. At appropriate times, there is snowfall and it is easy to visualize rural Ohio and sense the frigid temperatures. Although not a cliffhanger all the way through, it doesn’t need to be. There is plenty of interest in solving the crime and in the personal relationships to keep the story going. The ending surprised me.
I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Kensington Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Memorable Lines:
People in the big cities are craving a simpler country life even if they wouldn’t last more that three seconds outside their area code.
“It’s all here…The charming small town, the sense of community and family. Second chances at love. You know, the feel-good family stuff that TV watchers like to gobble up while ignoring their own families.”
“…there are Amish who get in trouble too, just like there are English who get in trouble. There is no cultural escape from trouble.”
