3 Stars - I might recommend if you enjoy Christmas fiction and short stories. It wasn't my favorite of the genre.
What the Cowboy Wants for Christmas by Maisey Yates - Overall I liked this story, it was a little bit angsty as only stories with characters who have tortured pasts can be. This was quite R-rated, which I wasn't expected and ended up being (by far) the most explicit story in the bunch. I overall enjoyed it, but it was very much a competition between the two men, everything was a comparison... which I didn't love. This story was also not overly Christmassy... which isn't my preference for a Christmas book. Also, he owns a ranch... but it's almost never mentioned. I feel like putting Cowboy in the title is just using a buzzword. I liked the epilogue in this one!
Snowed In by Staci Finz - I didn't really love this story, because I didn't really like the characters very much. I felt like the characters didn't have a ton of witty banter that I've come to love from hate-to-love romances. The premise was cute, and it was alright to read, but definitely not my favorite in the bunch. I liked the ending and the epilogue as well.
A Cowboy Wedding for Christmas by Nicole Helm - This was my favorite of the bunch. I liked that it was very Christamassy, I felt like there was a bit more depth to the characters, and I loved the family dynamics in this story. The romance was believable. I liked this epilogue as well!
A Baby for Christmas by Lisa Jackson - This felt a little bit dated. It was set in the 1990s which could have added to that just a bit. I didn't particularly relate to the characters, and I felt like the instalove was a little bit extreme. In the end I enjoyed parts of it, and didn't enjoy other parts. It was alright. There was one unfortunate paragraph where they go immediately from talking about making love to cleaning out gutters that just sounded sooo wrong. LOL
Great collection of Christmas short stories. I love Christmas novels, romance and happy endings and this book combined those with a great collection of authors. Author Lisa Jackson is a favorite of mine and because of that I found new authors to try. Get in the holiday mood and enjoy! Thanks to Lisa Jackson, Maisey Yates, Stacy Fintz and Nicole Helm along with their publisher an NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy of Santa’s on His Way.
Thank you to NetGallery, the publisher and authors for the opportunity to read and review "Santa's on His Way." All opinions expressed are solely my own.
I didn't realize this was going to be different short stories by different authors. I was actually surprised to see a book with this title by LIsa Jackson as I have only read her thriller, suspenseful books which I thoroughly enjoy.
I haven't read any books by the other authors so this was a win-win reading opportunity for me! It gave me the chance to read and discover new authors.
I found the four Christmas stories to be very enjoyable. Yes, the stories are short but very well written. Each story has romance, family, suspense and Christmas miracles.
I highly recommend you get this book to get you in the mood for the upcoming holidays!
I requested this book through netgalley cause of Lisa Jackson, I love her writing liked the story line in it.. I really did like this cover.... each story was very good,
Entertaining stories with a holiday thread. Some a bit more romantic then others, but overall an enjoyable read.
Great set of 4 Christmas novellas! Plenty of romance and HEA. They definitely put me in the mood for Christmas! Highly recommend!
This book has four short stories with one by my favorite author Stacy Finz. The first three stories in the book I loved and the last I didn't like at all. The stories are wonderful Christmas stories with happy endings. Great well developed characters in the first three books and I liked the fact that even though they were short they didn't feel rushed or that the author started on a story line but didn't finish it. I did not like the last story because it felt disjointed to me and it did seem rushed in places and honestly not very Christmas like. I think part of it irritated me because it talked about it taking place in the Willamette valley in Oregon with this huge snowstorm and that very rarely happens there especially not the kind of storm described.
Overall I liked this book and of course I think Stacy Finz is a fantastic writer and never writes a bad story.
I had read a few of these authors before so I was familiar with some of the stories. I thought they were all pretty cute. But the hero in Helms story was bit too much of an asshole. And the Jackson story seemed out of place because it was so old school. I didn't appreciate the alphahole guy
Christmas came early you guys, this is the perfect Christmas book. Four different stories, by four talented authors.
Each book was super cute, easy to read. You could read a story each night before Christmas, they make you feel good and happy.
I recommend this book to everyone, you will enjoy each one of the stories,
This is a nice set of three Christmas themed stories. I actually had read them all previously, so I was a bit disappointed. I thought they might be new stories. All three are good short reads, perfect to pass the time while waiting for your timer to go off (baking the Christmas cookies) ENJOY!
Santa’s on His Way is a collection of four romantic Christmas novellas by best selling authors Lisa Jackson (A Baby for Christmas), Maisey Yates( What the Baby Wants for Christmas), Stacy Finz (Snowed In), and Nicole Helm(A Cowboy Wedding for Christmas.). Each of these stories has a lovely white Christmas setting. The characters in each tale are complex, each having haunted pasts of either childhood neglect or adult betrayal.
But Christmas is a time of miracles and redemption. In each novella the reader will find a story of lost and lonely people who are uncertain in the path their lives take. But it seems the fates have ideas of their own, rescuing the meek and settling them on a course to happiness.
These enjoyable holiday stories are a treat. You will be so pleased with the holiday joy in these tales. I enjoyed each one and do recommend this book.
The reason I requested this book was to read Nicole Helms next book in her Mile High series, but ive been really pleased with the other authors who I haven’t read before. I love anthologies as you get to discover authors you might not have heard before. Lovely xmas stories
Santa's on His Way consists of four contemporary romance novellas, which are What the Cowboy Wants for Christmas, by Maisey Yates; Snowed In, by Stacy Finz; A Cowboy Wedding for Christmas, by Nicole Helm; and A Baby for Christmas, by Lisa Jackson.
In What the Cowboy Wants for Christmas, Meg O'Neill is devastated when her longtime boyfriend cheats on her, which crashes her Christmas dream of love and marriage. In her haste to escape the pain of lost dreams, Meg visits her best friend, Noah Carter, who has been secretly in love with Meg for years. While trapped together during a blizzard, Meg and Noah confront their attraction and a possible relationship. However, both characters are dealing with secrets in this slightly dark-themed holiday romance.
In Snowed In, Rachel Johnson is trying to rebuild her life, after the devastating end to a serious relationship and her job as a lawyer. Now, she's living in a small town running her new bakery, and she's interested in opening a restaurant in a highly sought historic building. Her main competition is Boden Farmer, who currently owns and operates a popular bar. While co-catering a wedding, Rachel and Boden are snowed in during the Christmas holidays, which leads to plenty of romance. Overall, the story is casual and entertaining.
In A Cowboy Wedding for Christmas, Lindsay Tyler is preparing to move back to her hometown. Six years ago, she left the small town and her boyfriend in order for opportunities and consequently discovered herself. However, Lindsay is still in love with Cal Barton, yet her ex-boyfriend now adamantly hates her and doesn't trust anyone, especially Lindsay. However, they are pushed together throughout various circumstances, which leads to Cal and Lindsay struggling with romance and relationships. It's an intriguing story, yet slightly sad with the heartbreak and six years of distance.
In A Baby for Christmas, Annie McFarlane discovers a baby on her front porch on a snowy night, and Liam O'Shaughnessy eventually shows up and claims the baby as his own. Even without considering the abandoned baby, both main characters are dealing with serious issues in their lives. Annie and Liam are attracted to each other and compelled to raise the baby together. This novella focuses on multiple serious issues in a short amount of time, and it (unfortunately) wasn't my favorite story.
Santa's on His Way is geared towards those want to read contemporary romance novellas with snow and holiday themes.
Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
What the Cowboy Wants for Christmas-Wait, she knew her boyfriend was sleeping with other people, but she just went along with it?
Snowed In-Ooh if she's been mentioned on TV her shop should be doing very well.
The wedding menu is making me hungry.
She's touchy, but the poor man has no idea why.
Don't mix business with pleasure.
A Cowboy Wedding for Christmas-We have all felt like that. But home is where the heart is.
His father is spending his sister's college fund on a trip? Nice guy.
Jeez Louise, it's like her mother doesn't even like her.
Ooh. Good for her, fighting back.
Boy, you are so dramatic.
Helluva thing when a man can be led by his stomach.
Her mother will be the kind of mother-in-law that will hug you a lot but whip your butt when you need it.
Well that reception just got more interesting!
He can be so romantic when he uses his words.
A Baby for Christmas-Her twat husband left her after three miscarriages, then got his tramp pregnant? Oh hell no!
Nice sister she's got there.
Sheesh. I want that job.
Good dog.
Saving Jake's life is definitely reason for him to keep Liam out of jail.
Fast wedding.
I'm glad Nola saw the light. But how did they find Peter?
This is a feel-good collection of 4 Christmas novellas. Delightful stories, colorful characters, plenty of Christmas cheer, chemistry, and HEA.
There are 4 stores by 4 different authors in this cute Christmas book. I connected with all the main characters in each story. They were each a fast read and entertaining. Even though in the first chapter you know they will end up by the end of the story it was still fun to see the relationships grow.
A BABY FOR CHRISTMAS * Lisa Jackson
The uneventful Christmas Annie McFarlane expected is suddenly anything but. First, there’s the adorable baby left on the snowy doorstep of her Oregon cabin. SNOWED IN * Stacy Finz
