This was a fun little novella/short story. It centres around a pond in a Florida forest. There are all sorts of animals in here, including fish, a bullfrog, leopard frogs, tortoises, a snake, raccoons, etc. It is all about how they all live peacefully together.

It reads a bit like a children’s book and it would definitely be suitable for children, but it was marketed as adult fiction on NetGalley where I requested it. I did so because I love stories about animals. It certainly does not read like adult fiction, so that may have been a mistake, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

It’s cute and fun and all about friendship, but I do feel it should be marketed towards children. Either that or there should be more to the tale. It looks like there will be more stories set at Cypress Tarn and although I will not go out of my way to read them, I definitely would not mind doing so.
