This was a new author for me, and she hit it out of the park with this story! I was sucked in right from the start, and I found it very hard to put down this very well-written story filled with action, drama, suspense, humor and romance. The characters were so likable and interesting. The story moved at a very good pace and I was sorry when it ended. Absolutely loved it! NOTE: I did not read the first book in the series, but I had no problem reading this book. I can be read as a stand alone. Highly recommended!
Former SEAL gets assigned to ostensibly bodyguard a Hollywood starlet, though in truth the job is something much different. All of that, of course, is a setup for them to have sex and fall in love.
I am so loving her; she’s a wonderful character, and not—completely—like you’d except considering her occupation. Some time was taken to give her hidden depths. Any story featuring a dumb-looking blonde actually being the smartest person in the room works for me.
And the topic is heady, timely.
But the rest is relatively standard. Despite it being called an erotica, there’s only one sex scene; yes, it’s a short book, but there were chances for more. No real surprises.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5
Hunter Odenson is a former Navy Seal who is trying to get a promotion, Alexandra is a blonde movie star searching for her best friend - together they infiltrate a club and sex slave ring to save the day. This was not my favorite Leslie North book. It is just way too short to convey any deep affection between the characters, and the action scenes are just way too convenient. It is a very fast read- read it in one sitting but it was just ok for me.
Hunter Odenson and Alexandra Valentine meet due to bodyguard job however she has another job in mind. They bond over her mission. Second book from Norse Security with good story line and characters. Enjoying this series.
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
Another good story from Leslie North; not overly long and drawn out, but not so short that you can't get wrapped up in the story. The characters are presented in a way that illustrates both Alex and Hunter have learned to adapt their physical appearances in a way that works for them. But even with adaptations, both are still guilty at making assumptions, and more often than not assumptions can come back and bite you well, you know! I love the way Hunter steps in to help Alex, although Alex definitely shows her strengths as well. An enjoyable story all the way around.
This book was absolutely fabulous and the characters just tugged at my heart. It was another fantastic book and series by this amazing author who I am such a big fan of and have been for years now. Can’t wait for the next book in this series and any other series to come too. Absolutely recommend to all book lovers out there
Undercover with the SEAL is the second book in the Norse Security series, but the first book in the series I've read, and also the first book I recall reading reading by this author, and while her writing skills are good, there were simply too many things about this short novel that didn't ring true for me, and for that reason, it gets a 2-star rating from this reader.
The basic plot hits on a dark subject, human sex trafficking, when ex-Navy SEAL, Hunter Odenson is assigned the job of babysitting a blonde bombshell of a Hollywood actress, Alexandra (Alex) Valentine, who usually plays a dumb blonde in romantic comedies. He's bucking for a promotion at Norse Security, and if he carries out this mission successfully, he's likely to get that promotion. The novel opens with him thinking that the actress has already been abducted and has been tied up and is being tortured by thugs, on a Hollywood sound stage no less, and of course, he rushes to her rescue, beats the heck out of the thugs, breaking up that days' filming and infuriating the actress. You could see this scene coming from a mile away.
As it turns out, Alex is not a dumb blonde and she and her acting student friend, Beatrix, both method actors, have been immersing themselves in the world of BDSM by becoming regulars at a shady club, where Alex plays at being a Dominatrix, and where Beatrix has disappeared. Alex believes that since there are a number of under-age women at the club, she's stumbled onto a sex trafficking ring, and that they've kidnapped her friend for their evil purposes. Hunter's job is to prevent Alex from also being kidnapped and to locate and rescue her best friend. With the scene set in Hollywood, I couldn't help wondering why she'd hired someone from a security company based on the east coast, and why she hadn't contacted either the police or the FBI, and we're never given a reason for how she's even head of Norse Security.
Hunter is a mountain of a man, big, muscular, strong and sexy, and when he realizes that Alex isn't the dumb blonde she portrays in her usual acting roles, he's drawn to the petite, smart and beautiful actress, and does what he can to protect her, taking her to one of the safe houses his company has set up across the country. Alex already has a plan to find Beatrix, a dangerous plan. While the idea was a good one, we aren't really given a chance to see either character after they enter the club--quite a missed opportunity, in this reader's opinion. In order to infiltrate the BDSM club, she expects Hunter to act as the submissive to Alex's Dominatrix persona, which really isn't all that much of an act on her part, and he finds that he doesn't mind, and is, in fact, turned on by giving up control to her.
Because Alex has become a regular at the club, she makes it clear that she wants to be supplied with 10 new sex slaves and soon, and the trap is set, but things certainly don't go as planned and soon Alex is abducted and Hunter can't save her, and in short order the two main characters are overpowered by the sex traffickers and their thugs who'd planned to add Alex to their list of sex slaves and kill Hunter. It all happens way too fast, way to easily to be believed, as does the almost insta-love that also happens way too fast and way too soon as the novel comes to an abrupt HEA ending.
While the subject matter of the novel is dark, and the set-up for the action was good, this novel wasn't lengthy enough for us to really get to know these characters, although they each did share some information about their formative years, instra-lust turned to insta-love in just a few short days. This was a novel that really showed promise as a good, dark, romantic suspense read, but it was simply too short, too lightweight, too uncomplicated, and had too many missed opportunities to delve deeper into either the horrendous issue of sex trafficking, or to really give the relationship between the Hunter and Alex time to develop, and to deliver on that promise. Given time and space, this could have been a really good read, rather than a fair-to-middling, unsatisfying one.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
By far one of my favorite quick reads authors, its so amazing the amount of story, romance, drama and sex she manages to squeeze in-between these scorching pages!
Great quick read for a relaxing afternoon. Excitement and adventure with fun characters. Love a good Seal book.
Alex was desperate to find her best friend. Her life could be in danger all due to the need to find answers on an issue that plagues humanity. Hunter is the only man she trusts to help her find her friend before it’s too late. Will Hunter be able to keep her safe as she gives no thoughts on how to remain safe. Great continuation of the series!
Hunter Odenson has always been larger than average, even when he was a kid. He always felt his size made others ill at ease and does what he can to downplay his tremendous size and strength.
Alex has made a living playing the bimbo. She learned early on in life that being inquisitive and smart can have repercussions. But she has decided that she has played dumb long enough and she and a friend decide to make a very gritty movie, set around the world of sex trafficking. They go undercover at a local club but when her friend goes missing Alex knows she needs some help.
But both are as guilty at making snap assumptions as they accuse others of making about them. But As Alex and Hunter slip into the seedy side of LA they come to the conclusion that to survive and friend Alex' friend they need to work together.
There are little snippets with Cam and Everly from Book 1, but this is very much Hunter and Alex story. Alex really believes in method acting, the scene involving a whip..well she put Indiana Jones to shame! Hunter is a big guy with an even bigger heart, I really loved this gentle giant, who can also gut you like a fish should the situation call for it. This story is so current with the news of today that it was very easily to relate the fiction to the factual!
Emotionally thrilling, action packed romantic adventure filled with danger, secrets, passion and sexy witty banter..... Enjoyed every heart pounding, excitement inducing twist to this journey.
The story begins with muscle bound Hunter Odenson working as a body guard for actress Alexandra Valentine only neither one of them is exactly what the rest of the world sees.... Sparks fly, true intentions are reviled, danger is around every corner. Could not get enough of this crazy and wild ride.
This is a really good action packed romantic suspense. I really loved this big sexy hero! Hunter is an amazing man inside and out and it doesn’t take to long for Alex to see that for herself.
I really enjoyed the story and the connection between these two wonderful characters!
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC
With the romance, suspense, and intrigue, Hunter and Alexandra's story is more than a fluff book. Their romance is as much a suspense story as it is a romance. The drama, with the twists and turns in the story, will keep you turning the pages to see the HEA for everyone involved. I love the blurb, but there is so much more depth to the sex trafficking story that makes "Undercover with the Seal" a read not to be missed. I would like to thank NetGalley and Relay Pub. for gifting me "Undercover with the Seal". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4.5 Stars!
The second book in the series has muscle bound Hunter Odenson working as a body guard for actress Alexandra Valentine. They both have pre conceived notions of each other. He thinks she is the ditzy blond like she plays in the moves she been in, and she thinks he is just another muscle bound guy with no brain. Once they have to riley on each other they realize that they need to be a team. She is actually the character that makes this book. Once again a quick read but full of action and you also get to see what happened with the two people from the previous story. Back to the book Alexandra is looking for her best friend who she has been kidnapped by a group that is going to ship her and others out of the country. A very good story about what is going on. there is also a funny scene where Alexandra plays a dominatrix as they need to get into a sex club and Hunter is her sub, a very good part of the story and really some fun and tension to their story. Overall I really liked this book.
4 Star Review of Undercover with the Seal by Leslie North
Super hot cover BTW 👍
This book was a little different from this author’s general writing style & I loved it,
Hunter & Alex’s story does not disappoint ❤️❤️
Couple of interesting twists with one of the main characters at times playing a submissive role ( not who u think ) As with most of this author’s work it’s a quick read hitting all my emotional buttons - great strong central chapters- hot chemistry & romance on the way to a great HEA ❤️❤️
Action, suspense and romance Undercover with the Seal is definitely a page turner I was gripped early with this one and just settled in and enjoyed the ride.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
Book 2 in a series but can be read as a stand alone.
Alex and Hunter are both so down to earth with personal issues that they deal with every day. They work to encourage each other and make a cute couple.
Along with the romance, there is a bit of intrigue as Alex is searching for her missing friend, Beatrix. Parts were endearing as you hear of Hunter' being bullied, and parts were so funny when they went to the sex club and Alex was the Mistress and Hunter her slave.
Great HEA and I was wondering how they were going to have that when they each had a career on opposite sides of the U.S. but nice ending!!
I really liked this book, just like I enjoy all of Leslie North's books. I thought that the interplay and the steam between the hero and heroine was really fun. I can't wait to see more books like this.
Yummy SEALs come in large packages!
Hunter has always been misjudged due to his larger-than-life size, but the assignment to help movie-star Alex gives him the chance to prove his intellect is just as imposing. Alex at first doesn't know how Hunter is going to help her find her missing friend, but that doesn't stop her from collaring him and using all his assets in her investigation. They both truly understand each other, as Alex is usually dismissed as just as ditzy as the characters she portrays.
The steam between these two is off-the-charts hot! There's plenty of action of all kinds as these two track down the human traffickers that may have kidnapped her friend. The author doesn't skimp on emotional depth or interesting side characters, making this an exceptionally fun book to read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
