What a wonderful peek back into Emika Chen's world! Picking up right where Warcross left off, the first chapters of Wildcard promise the same vibrant and unforgettable experience as their predecessor. We're thrown right into the action along with Emika, her teammates, and already a new and intriguing face, and I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on the full novel in September!

I adored Warcross when it came out and I'm very excited to continue this story and see what happens next. My husband introduced me to the book series and I'm very glad I listened to him. Thank you for posting a sneak peek and letting us read a couple of pages - S.

I want more....damn it please I really need it now!! *screams*

It's really not fair that they are only giving out (really) few numbers of arcs to bloggers, okay! I know I may not make a lot of sense in this review, but it's only because of I'm really sad right now).

I can't wait for Wildcard! This book seems so promising. Gosh, I need more. I really, really wish this book is a trilogy though, because I need more Hideo and Emika.

AGAIN! MARIE LU CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD!

I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT WARCROSS IS HER BEST MASTERPIECE. BOY SHE PROVED ME WRONG AGAIN. I am in an emotional rollercoaster ride. Much thrilled than I was with Warcross. It's no secret that I am a huge fan of the first installment, so I waited, I was dying for the second installment. Wildcard, Marie Lu, did not dare to disappoint. I swooned, cried, screamed, got frustrated. My feelings and emotions are all over the room where I was reading this title. I wanted to cry, I am fond of Hideo and Emika, not I am at lost for Hideo and Sasuke. Both relationships have unfathomable effects on me.

Besides the fact those things, I was surprised as to how shocked I was because of the different revelations. It completely broke my heart, shattered it in to pieces.

Wildcard was a very quick read, but no details were left out. Overall, Wildcard is a great way to end this duology.

Looks like the second book is going to be just as good (action packed and twisty) as the first. Can't wait to read it.

"And that's when I realize that, at the end, we'd all wish for the same thing. Just a little more time."
Warcross is and will forever be one of my favourite Marie Lu books. After reading the first book in the duology, I had set such high expectations for the second. Since Warcross was so well done in all its aspects, I expected the plot and characterization to meet the high bar that was already set.
Wildcard didn't quite meet it.
I'll start off with positive things about the book, since it had to earn three and a half stars for something. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the Phoenix Riders, which was something I actually felt was lacking in Warcross. Wildcard made up for it though and I actually felt like it redeemed how little the minor characters were fleshed out in the first book. I also loved Zero and how Marie Lu was able to make me feel so much for a character in just one book, his entire backstory and characterization was definitely a huge highlight of the book.
Finally I loved the entire conversation the book created around virtual reality and reality. Just like it's predecessor, Wildcard was able to bring up the complex topic about the dark side of technology and was able to create such an intricate storyline around the topic.
Now, onto the less positive.
I'll start by saying I was the biggest Emika enthusiast going into the book. In Warcross she was set up to be such an amazing heroine and I felt that Marie Lu would've explored her character a bit more in Wildcard. Sadly, this was not the case.
I just didn't feel connected to Emika, even though the story is entirely told in her perspective. She felt like a bystander to all the craziness going on around her, without having any deep roots of her own. It was as if she was just passing through the story and was used as the readers lense. Everyone else in the story I felt had a set role but Emika didn't quite fit. After the twist ending of Warcross, I kind of wished that the story was taken in another direction pertaining to Emika. Her deep personal dialogue felt missing in the story.
My other problem lies with a certain ship. So I really am a Hideo/Emika enthusiast and was counting on their angst as an addition to the story. It's probably just me who thinks this but Hideo/Emika definitely had their moments in Wildcard. Though I was hoping for more from them, especially after the twist their relationship took.
And the ending? It was bittersweet in true Marie Lu fashion. Certain things that I hoped wouldn't happen ended up happening, but there was a pleasant surprise right at the end which ties everything up (super vaguely) but nicely. But honestly, I wasn't all the satisfied with it. I hope Marie Lu writes a novella in the future so I can encounter these characters again and get an truly satisfying ending.
All in all, Wildcard is a great book if you are a plot driven reader. I don't know if I would read it again, but the complex universe is definitely something to read it for.

So I got to have a taste of Wildcard, a nibble if you will. I'm dying for more. I did get a sample (2-3 chapters, I believe) and it wasn't enough. Emika is back with the Phoenix Riders, but there's new trouble lurking around every corner. Not enough people are impressed by her skills, many are mad at what she did, those who even know that it was her.

I'm hoping the new character introduced near the beginning sticks around, she was... an experience, heh.

As usual, beautifully detailed scenes, which make me kind of wish for tech that Marie Lu has created for her world. I want points for leaving the house, dang it! ;)

My son is a huge Marie Lu fan so I downloaded the preview and asked him to read it. All he could say was "I can't wait for the whole book to come out". He loved it. Thanks for the sneak peek!

Read a #SneakPeekWildcard #NetGalley on this one and am looking forward to it even more than before! Looks like Emika's chances for survival lie with Zero and his crew of "bad guys". Who will win in the battle for free will??

I’ve been super pumped for Wildcard ever since I finished Warcross when it was released last year. This Sneak Peek was the perfect dip back into the high tech world of the Warcross games and has me even more excited for the release date on September 18!

This excerpt just gives enough to tease. I'm more excited to read the whole book now come release day.

Great sneak peek, so looking forward to this book! In the light of rigged political campaigns, social media control over private data and governments compromising privacy rights in the name of security, we all have to ask ourselves how much of our freedom we are willing to give up to be online 24/7, and who we entrust with our safety. I already enjoyed Warcross and I can't wait to read the full sequel. Looks action-packed, thrilling and carried by a strong MC.

I need this book out now! The first few chapters set up what promises to be a great second act of this book. It picks up right where we left the last one and no one has gotten over any of the issues they had.

They even do a good job reminding you of what happened in the last book so you don't have to be confused. September 18th!!
