This is the first book I have read by Hope Ramsay but it will definitely not be the last. This is the first book in a series Moonlight Bay and I am looking forward to reading more about the secondary characters from this story. A charming sweet and sexy story with a well developed story line and characters. I enjoyed reading about the Gullah culture and liked that the main character was working to find ways to preserve history. Don't miss this one.
I absolutely loved everything about this book. It is truly written from the heart. Jenney arrives in Magnolia Harbor, South Carolina from Boston using a different last name and identity to find out what happened to her father, Robert Bauman, who had died sailing on the water before she was born. As Robert’s brother, Harry, who lives there with his wife, Patsy, did not receive the bulk of the massive inheritance Jenney unexpectedly received, Jenney needs to test the waters to see if she will reveal who she really is. She meets Jude St. Pierre and wants him to teach her how to sail, hoping to understand what may have caused the loss of her father. The sailing lessons become a real test of endurance for Jenney. I had to laugh at how difficult Jude made it for her. Barrier Island Charters, owned by Jude’s father, is his life, and the historical land and structures north of town are part of his Gullah heritage. Holding onto it all is at risk. There are many secrets amongst the characters, and care is taken as to who can be told what, and when. It is a small town. Family, heritage, the art of sailing, secrets, and wanting to belong are topics that are well expressed in a warmhearted way. I absolutely loved this book. [I received a complimentary copy of this book and my opinion is my own.]
This is a simple, sweet story of acceptance and love. Jenna is searching for answers about a father she never knew and Jude is struggling to preserve his Gullah heritage and save his family business. Jenna and Jude are complete opposites but together they mend their loneliness and find a strength to make their dreams come true. A great story of how family love and acceptance can be so healing and freeing.
Having read The Last Chance Series and the Bride Series this book was different. It was a very good read with a great story behind it. I enjoyed it very much and would definitely recommend it. It is to me a different Hope. Is this going to be a series as it would be a good one.
Hope Ramsey comes into an unexpected inheritance. As a result she loses her job because they are a direct competitor to her Fathers company. Hope takes a year off to travel and process the fact she has inherited money from a Father she never met. Her Mother is gone, but before she died she led Hope to believe things about her Father that might not be true. When she returns from her travels she decides she wants to meet the family she has never known. Hope is afraid of the reception she might get from her Aunt and Uncle so she assumes a false identity. She meets Jude St Claire and feels an instant connection.
This is a great romance about family and being able to forgive and let go of the past.
I enjoyed learning about the culture and the people in the story. Thank you tonet galley for an advanced readers copy.
