Absolutely loved everything about this book! The photographs and writing invites you into the house to look around. It's a quick read that will be read and looked over and over..

This is a quick read but a delightful peak into a real amish home. There are beautiful "arwork-like" photos along with explanations of daily life. There are scriptures that provide a glimpse into the "heart' of the Amish as well. I have always been intrigued by the Amish and enjoyed this book.

Disappointed. Pictures were OK, but information was sketchy at best. No real information gathered here.

This was interesting, but disappointing in its' brevity. I had hoped for some actual vignettes from the families whose homes were portrayed.

To someone who is not all that familiar with the Amish lifestyle this is a great glimpse into their simplistic ways. Being an avid reader of Amish fiction however I feel like there were some things missed. My first thought was what about the quilts?? They are such a huge piece of Amish culture that need to be documented.

I enjoyed this book although I wish it was longer. I also would have like to see more information than what was given.

I have visited in two Amish homes in my life time and this book about covers it all. I remember the first one I was in had no propane for lights and what not. It was candle on;y. Much like my non-Amish aunt's farm way back in the day, the farmers went to bed when the sun went down as they had to get up at 4 to milk cows!Lanterns lit the barn during milking. My mother recalled her families farm being the same back in the 1930's and 40's! But over all, this is a peek into homes most people will never see the insides of, so it will be of interest to them. I am still shocked by the lack of curtains on the windows, tho'. I keep thinking of the lack of privacy. Much like their lack of locks on their doors. too scary to contemplate in this day and age.
