I absolutely adored this sweet romance. As a fellow shy girl, I love seeing them finally get some love too. Hunter was a great character as well. Patient with Sam, but definitely not perfect. I liked watching them confront their flaws head on and try to change.

Sam has always been the good girl. She never ruffles feathers and always does what she thinks is expected of her. Her grandfather is pressuring her and her sisters into marriage. Having a harder time pushing him back, she decides to take matters into her own hands by offering a school friend in need of help a proposition.

Hunter has recently been released from prison. Having Sam as a friend is very important. She offers him a place to live and job if he marries her for a year. She just wants Pop off her back for awhile, but Hunter has a couple of conditions himself. Sam has to live life and take a few chances. Always being so proper, he wants her to just let go. He definitely has his work cut out for him, because Sam is settled in her ways.

Oh I felt for Sam! So caught up in doing the right thing, she doesn't know what SHE wants! I really enjoyed Hunter opening her up to new experiences. I felt he could have been a stronger hero, but he was right for Sam in the end.

Noelle Adams is the queen of contract marriage troupes and this one is a solid read! The characters are real and likeable. Their faults are easily common to anyone. I loved seeing their ups and downs and figuring a way to live their lives together the way THEY wanted.

I also love Sam's sisters! They have their own stories and it is good to see where they are during this book! Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series!

This book was fine - not my favorite, not the worst thing I've read. It did tip a bit too far into saccharine for my personal tastes, but I know several fans of contemps that would like it and I've already recommended it.

Noelle Adams has outdid herself with this steamy, will-they-or-won’t-they friends to lovers story that contained the perfect blend of banter, chemistry, and romance. I never wanted this book to end, yet I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Just a perfect addition to the Trophy Husband series. Absolutely loved it. Definitely will be reading this book and series again and again in the future and the near future too 😊 definitely recommend this book to all book lovers out there

I have trouble reading the first person POV books, but this one held my interest. A typical fake marriage story, but it was good nonetheless.

Practice Husband is the second book in the Trophy Husbands Series and it has the same recipe as the first book. I happened to like it, so I also liked this one and I wasn't bothered by the similarities, which extend beyond the fake husband trope. I found myself liking Sam a lot and I thought of her as one of us, so you can say that I could relate to her. Hunter was a good man and he was battling his demons and insecurities, which made him act like a douche sometimes. Both of them are likable and I liked their relationship. I loved the angsty parts towards the end of the book, how Hunter declared his love for her and misunderstanding they had. Overall, the book was good and it was as good as the first and dare I say, even better because for once the characters were trying to be financially independent and they were struggling with it. I liked that they decided not to depend on anyone else's money. We didn't see much of the third sister and to me, she is a mystery so I can't wait for her book. I want to see what kind of person she truly is.

5 Stars for Practice Husband by Noelle Adams

ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

You know what they say practice makes perfect & this book was perfection !! The premise of a practice husband / marriage even better ...

I love Sam & Hunter especially that their characters really get each other & need each other ... What started off as a practice marriage has them falling in love & knowing they are meant to be together.

This is a delightful read - don’t miss it !!

Each book I read by Noelle Adams makes me love her writing more and more. Her spin on small town romance is less busybody where everyone is all in each other's business, and more about families and community. Sam was first introduced in the previous novel in the series and was intriguing because she was a career student who seemed to have no real direction. Hunter was introduced as her love interest in the final chapter and ever since I've been dying to find out what happened. I wasn't disappointed with my wait and really enjoyed seeing how their marriage of convenience turned into something more.

3.5 stars--PRACTICE HUSBAND is the second instalment in Noelle Adams’ contemporary, adult TROPHY HUSBANDS erotic, romance series. This is perpetual college student Samantha ‘Sam’ Greyson, and Hunter Ness’ storyline. PRACTICE HUSBAND can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from first person point of view (Sam) PRACTICE HUSBAND follows the marriage of convenience between former high school friends Samantha ‘Sam’ Greyson, and Hunter Ness. Years earlier Samantha Greyson was Hunter Ness’ high school tutor but along the way Hunter began to rebel against his father’s demands, and two years ago Hunter found himself in prison for committing a white collar crime. Having kept in touch while in prison Hunter seeks out Samantha in the hopes of finding a job with her grandfather’s company but finds himself on the outside looking in when the old man refuses to accept a former con with no place to live. To alleviate Hunter current predicament as well as getting her grandfather off of her back, Samantha offers up a marriage of convenience in the hopes of forcing her grandfather to accept Hunter for the man he could be. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Hunter and Sam, and the potential fall-out as issues of trust and miscommunication force our couple in different directions.

Samantha Greyson is a bit of a nerd; a bookworm who has no idea about what she wants, or where she wants to go including thoughts of employment or future career. Having lived vicariously through her love of romance novels, and the love affairs between the heroes and heroines, Sam is desperate to experience everything and more but in reality Sam is frightened of it all. Comparing her newfound love life with that of a romance novel pushes Sam to overthink about the who, how, what and why of her sexual fantasies and married life. Hunter Ness struggles with issues of trust-from his father’s rejection to the probably that his wife is unhappy with his direction in life. Misinterpretation of events will force Hunter and Ness to look at their long-term goals including whether or not their marriage will become a permanent fixture.

The relationship between Hunter and Sam is a marriage of convenience wherein our couple barely know one another aside from their high-school tutoring sessions, and Sam’s twice weekly letters while Hunter served his sentence. Having thrown themselves into a marriage within days of Hunter’s release, our couple struggle more so than most newlyweds as it pertains communication, love and issues of trust. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Samantha’s colorful and equally troubled sisters play secondary and supporting roles including Melissa Greyson, and her husband Trevor Bentley (Part Time Husband), their sister Chelsea; as well as their demanding and uncompromising grandfather who pays the bills, controls the purse strings, and owns the business from which everybody works.

PRACTICE HUSBAND is a story of embattled family relationships, and a struggling couple whose direction in life is part fantasy and part reality. Each chapter begins a reference or scene from a classic novel as our heroine continues to compare her life to that of fictional characters. The premise is entertaining and engaging; the romance struggles in the face of mistrust and miscommunication; the characters are intelligent, wounded and flawed.

I am hooked on the Trophy Husbands Series after reading both Part Time Husband & Practice Husband by Noelle Adams. Each novella length read in this series provides us with the journey for one of 'Pop's' granddaughters as she tries to appease his need to see each of his granddaughters married. Of course, it not as easy as Pop's would want since his granddaughters won't agree to Pop's choice for their perfect husband. Although each granddaughter tries to teach their grandfather a lesson and while Pop's happy his granddaughters' decided to settle down & marry, he isn't happy about each granddaughters' choice of a husband. As Pop's sees it, the choice is not ideal & the Trophy Husband is the total opposite of the stable husband Pop's would choose. In the 4.5-Star book Practice Husband, follow along on Sam & Hunter's journey.....Sam & Hunter know their friends and have been for a long time, as Hunter takes his role as a Trophy Husband is this thing more than a friendship, more than a contract to help a friend out? Could they have more than friendship or is it feelings as in romantic feelings and the beginning to falling in love? Can this once friendship turn into an actual marriage after the time limit of their 'marriage contract' expires? Noelle Adams knows how to pack a punch in the romantic, but oh so hot & steamy, read Practice Husband! Definitely Recommend adding all the books of the Trophy Husbands Series, Practice Husband & Part-Time Husband, to your Kindle library! I can't wait for the next book in this series to read what's in store as Pop's last granddaughter picks her 'Trophy Husband'!

Hunter is a sweet guy, loyal to a fault. In fact, he's so loyal that things in his life turn for the worse and he ends up in jail. Now that he's out, he's got a chance with Sam and he's not going to blow it... or is he going to let the demons from his past steel his future?

Samantha was the good sister, the one that never brings trouble to the family and she did just what her grandfather wanted without even noticing it. She got married. *smiles* The good thing for her, she married the boy she loved and got a happily ever after.

I loved Noelle Adams writing style. The book was well done, with a steady pace that made it even fast for me because before I knew it, I was done with the book. In one sitting. That is just great though because it means the story has a good hook and it's very interesting.

The sweetness in this story was just adorable at times. Samantha was so inexperienced in life and Hunter, taking her into those experiences and keeping her with him was awesome. I loved him even more for those moments of sweetness.

I would recommend this book to anymore that loves a good romance to spend your time in. I don't think you can go wrong with Practice Husband.

Sam is thoughtful, creative, and prone to daydreaming all her life. Sam would never let others see her out of control. Sam was not the type of person that books are written about but she is the kind that reads them. Sam was introspective, articulate, early to get along with since Sam usually kept her opinions to herself, Sam’s grandfather- Pop- raised her and her two sisters- chelsea and Melissa since their parents had died and he was basically the only family the sisters had. Pop was narrow and judgemental and likes to get his own way. Sam’s older sister Melissa was the only one of the three sisters who had really applied herself and accomplished something impressive in terms of her career. She had earned herself an exclusive -level position at Pops Home Cooking. Chelsea and Sam were still living on Pop’s money. Pop’s thinks Sam is the good one because she doesn’t do anything bold or adventurous, she doesn’t defy him, and she never makes a scene. Now that Melissa is married Pop is starting on Sam to get married as well as Chelsea. Then Sam brings up a friend of hers- Hunter who needs a job but he just got out of a two years of prison and was on parole he needs a place to live and a job to fulfill some of the conditions of parole but Pop says he doesn’t have fire cons. Sam had known Hunter from HS and she had a thing for him. She had tutored Hunter so he could get good grades to stay on the football team and for college. Hunter worked hard at the tutoring sessions . But Hunter had Sam in the friend zone. Hunter was from a rich family but when he went to prison they disowned him he wasn’t allowed to even see his younger brother. Sam needed something to push her outside her comfort zone. So now Hunter is going to be Sam’s pretend husband for a year so he can get a job and have a place to live Sam can finally experience parts of life she had only read about before. Hunter ended getting a job with Melissa. Hunter is extremely smart and talented with numbers. While married Sam and Hunter support each other, listen to each other, and they start to care about each other.
I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the plot and the pace a lot. This was a sweet, fun, hot romantic read. I did get a little annoyed with Sam at times especially the way she overthought things. I liked that we were given enough background on Hunter to understand what happened to him. I loved how Hunter tried to be a good husband.I really liked Hunter and Sam together.I also really liked the hot chemistry between Hunter and Sam. I loved how Hunter tried to be a good husband, If they had only communicated better they would have been happier a lot sooner. I did chuckle at times while reading this. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend. I would rate this a 4.5 if i could.

Amazingly sweet romantic story to make you swoon and smile!

Sam(antha) has been in love with Hunter since she was fifteen years old. He was the handsome football player in need of an English tutor and she was willing to help him succeed. All it took was one session and she had the biggest crush ever! She is so painfully reserved and is scared to reach out for what she wants. Her life is just books and studying. She is too scared to attempt anything else.

Now, years later and after a lot of obstacles, she is there again to help him after his stint in prison. Those two years he paid have derailed his life completely. Disowned by his family, Hunter only has one steady friend he can rely on- Sam! What better way to help him get a job in her grandfather's company than to temporarily marry him. This will give him a place to live while he works hard and gets back on his feet.

All that remains is for them to survive one year of this temporary marriage. He promises her in return, he will help Sam spread her wings and begin to live her life completely. So, how far will he take her?

I loved this book! Do not miss it!

i really enjoyed the first one in this series - i didn't enjoy this one *as* much but it was still pretty cute. i had a hard time getting a handle on Sam as a character, though I really liked Hunter. I do wish we'd gotten a bit more of their friendship or more of a build up before taking their friendship further, but as it was all we really got was 'i know him, i trust him' or whatever, which is great but i would have enjoyed learning and feeling that. that being said, it's a super short book so it did well for how short it was. there just seemed to be less build up/tension compared to the first. I liked all the bookish references, especially the Austen ones.

i figured book 2 would have another marriage of convenience type plot based on the title and series name, but the problem with the same trope used in multiple books in the same series is that they start to feel too similar or stale. this one wasn't too bad, but it didn't feel as authentic or realistic as the first. perhaps i shouldn't have read them too close together. don't get me wrong, i still very much enjoyed it and am looking forward to the 3rd.

Sam has always been the good girl, the perfect girl, the smart girl. When her grandfather continues to pressure her into marrying, and an old school friend needs help after being released from prison, she takes her first rebellious step. For one year, Sam and Hunter will be married. He will have a job with her grandfather’s company as well as a place to live and she will have a practice husband. Unfortunately, one of Hunter’s conditions is that she learn to take risks and open herself up to life. Easy, right?

Poor Sam. She was just so caught up in her method of staying safe, never rocking the boat or trying new things. Hunter has quite the challenge on his hands to pull her from her sedate lifestyle but her desire to experience hot sex is an enjoyable endeavor. I hurt for her inability to step out of the world she lived in and loved Hunter for pushing her limits although never running roughshod over her in the process.

Hunter was so kind and gentle and so very determined to be and do whatever was necessary to fulfill his side of the marriage bargain. I worried that he might lose himself in the process. However, it was his own past that held him captive. Without his point of view I was completely clueless regarding his true issues and emotions. Was he all in or just abiding by the outline he and Sam had set at the onset of their arrangement?

This was a great read, written in clean precise prose that never gave way to repetition or unnecessary details and introspection which resulted in a fast pace. The characters were so real and their conflict completely human. Despite Sam’s love of fiction she was living a new life, not that of a fairy tale, but one that consisted of all the pain and joy that could be expected in such a relationship. I loved watching this couple as they struggled together and independently.

The steam level is relatively high, the secondary characters mostly consisting of the heroine’s family, two which have their own stories. I would’ve liked to have seen what the future held for Hunter in regards to his own past issues but the epilogue was otherwise absolutely perfect.

Overall, an extremely enjoyable read and one I’d especially recommend to those who like a hero who rides the line between alpha and beta.

It's tough to move away from the past when every step finds you within the same place. Hunter and Sam had a destiny. They were meant to be together, but life kept getting in the way. Practice Husband is a chance to start over for two people who never seemed to get it right. Hunter is so much more than his sordid past and with a helping hand from a valued friend, he has a chance to move away from the chains of prison and into the light of the real world. Sam is a bit naive, but her beautiful heart is a treasure just waiting to shine it's value. What began in heartache became an inspiring tale of hope and salvation.

Like Part-Time Husband before it, Practice Husband is a stark reminder of what not communicating can do to a relationship. In fact, both books are highly similar all the way around. That's actually a little disappointing because Noelle Adams is a go-to author for me.

Like her sister before her, Sam gets married not for love but because she finds the circumstances of her life say that's a good idea right now. That she marries long-time crush Hunter Ness is not exactly a good thing (that long-time crush thing) but it helps him and forces her grandfather to do what he said and gets him off her back about settling down.

But both Hunter and Sam have feelings, strong feelings that they are not communicating to each other. And why would they? They've set up a scenario where strong feelings are not a good thing. But, Hunter like Trevor, is a slow drip on his lady's emotions, slowly wearing her down until they can actually talk about those feelings.

Practice Husband is by turns sweet, funny, sensitive, and sexy. If it glosses over the more difficult aspects of parole (and it does) and comes across more sweet than real life, that's ok. The slow burn between Hunter and Sam is worth it. Hunter is by turns sweet and unsure and cocky and arrogant. Sam is both take-charge and deferential. It's fun watching them both struggle to reach for what they really want.

I love Noelle Adams and I read her a lot. She always manages to infuse her books with a lovely emotional base. You just can't go wrong.

4 stars.
Reading the blurb, I really wasn't expecting this story to be quite as sweet, entertaining and enchanting as I did in fact find it to be.
Hunter, may have been an ex-con but he wasn't a tough guy or a player and Sam is a sweet girl that tends to hold back her emotions and not really stand up for herself but I really liked her.
She believes that she is not the prettiest of her sisters and is somewhat insecure about her appeal to men. She definitely doesn't think that Hunter could really fall for her.

…………..In high school, I was in love with Hunter Ness, but he friend-zoned me. Time passed. I grew up. He went to prison. And now he's going to be my husband for a year.
There are reasons.
He's not going to be a real husband. Just a practice husband so he can have a job and a place to live and I can finally experience parts of life I've only read about before. We're just friends, and I'm helping him out.
But still... He's way too sexy, and he knows me far too well. It's hard to remember he's not the real thing. But I'm going to stay smart. I'm not going to fall for my ex-con husband who only sees me as a friend...…....

Loved these two, this was such an enjoyable read and it is only my second book by Noelle Adams. The first one was a short story but I definitely like her writing style and will be reading more.

Now I want to go back and read the first book in this " Fake Husband" series.

Another great read in the Trophy Husband series. I liked the premise and both main characters in this story.
We meet Sam who is one of the three sisters whose Granddad aka Pop who is a real piece of work wanting his girls to marry. Sam is the brain of the sisters, 3 masters degrees and still in school studying pointlessly. When she runs into her high school crush Hunter Ness, newly released from jail and needs a home and a job to stay out of jail, Sam sees this as a good thing. She needs a man she can practice being a wife to. Hunter meets that need. So Hunter moves in with Sam and gets a job working with Melissa. Hunter is an extremely bright and talented with numbers, his job is a little beneath him, but he likes the job and is grateful. Sam lives in this storybook world, seriously. It was a little annoying at times, but I understood (maybe) where she came from with it, having no point of reference for most of these things in her life. She tended to overthink and overanalyze and it often presented some big problems for her with Hunter. Thankfully Hunter was a patient man and trying to deal with his own things. It was great to watch these two grow into a relationship with each other, not without a few misunderstandings, (Sam overthinking things) Never saw anyone keep a lockdown on her feelings the way this one did. I really love the three sisters and how they support each other but are blatantly honest also. It's Chelsea that calls Sam out on her problem. Hunter is such a great guy you can't help but love him. We get some backstory, just enough to understand what happened in his past, he's such a sweetheart and if you ask me and you didn't, far to patient with Sam. Even when he barks at her now and then. He's bossy in a cute way. Someone has to pull this girl out of her world.
Hunter does that. Man, I love that guy.
This is another great read from Noelle and I can't wait for Chelsea up next!!
4.5 stars.

Hunter and Sam have been friends since high school. When he's released from prison and needs a place to stay and a job and she needs something that will push her outside her comfort zone, they decide to get married. Just for a year.

This book had heat and humor. There was nothing fake about Hunter and Sam's marriage and watching them figure it out was so entertaining. I finished this book in one sitting. I missed the first book in this series but I'm definitely adding it to my TBR.
