It was beautiful good book to read
I everything in
The characters were interesting to read about
This is the first book of Ms Blackwood's I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found her writing to be a bit steamy, but also filled with humor. The main characters of Reece and Sloan each had a bit of sarcasm that made the book more interesting. Her characters are well written and very complex. I will be adding more of Jennifer Blackwood's books to my to be read pile.

This is a fun book. The main charters are at odds most of the time. This is because of one night she remembers one way and he another. Their banter makes this a fun and crazy ride. But where there is smoke there is fire. When they do finally get together this is a great stand-alone. I have not read others in the series and I was not lost or felt left out anywhere have fun with this one.
Reece and Sloane have known each other for years and were even friends at one point, now she can't stand him and he acts like it doesn't bother him. A year prior to where the book takes place, something happens between then that starts they're hatred, even though what he said and did was exactly the opposite of what he wanted to do. When he gets in future at the firehouse, he is forced to rage part in a fireman auction, where the winning bidder gets a fireman to perform four tasks within four weeks. Sloan wins Reece and decides to name him pay.
During the tasks, some funny things happen, but also some away things, like his job is on the line. Peaches is hilarious, yet endearing. Their conversations and interactive are filled with tension and a deep longing. Just when things seem to be taking a turn for the better, Sloane unknowingly did something that found the m back to square one. A really good book.

I was very excited for this! I love any story that starts off with childhood romance that ignites into passionate love as adults and the MCs of this had that background especially after something happened to tear them apart for a while. So when the author introduces the auction and the MCs end up with each other, its so hilarious to see Sloan make Reece pay for what he's done to her! The one thing that kept distracting me from the story and its humor were the very hurtful, sarcastic remarks each jabbed at each other. I get that both were hurt from past mistakes and there essentially was no apology and Sloan is just out to get revenge at the start of this, those remarks were very negative and had me pulling away a bit from liking the characters. Other than that, the story was very enjoyable and it was fun!

Up in Flames by Jennifer Blackwood is the second book in her Flirting with Fire series, but the first I read. An enemies to lovers story with characters that had a lot of history. Sloane is best friends with Reece’s younger sister. But when things go wrong one night, they were never truly friends again.
Now Sloane cannot stand Reece. But when she has the opportunity to have Reece at her beck and call as part of an annual firefighter auction, she is ready to make him pay. Reece was a player and unfortunately Sloane knew all about it. Could they ever truly have a chance with so much bad history?
Up in Flames by Jennifer Blackwood was a good read about enemies to lovers. They did have great banter and I loved reading the tasks Sloane has Reece doing. It was hard at times to like both characters, but with their histories you could understand their actions.
Reece and Sloane’s relationship started at a very young age. Sloane has been Reece’s sister’s best friend since they were little. Their relationship for most of their lives was not very friendly. They were always picking at and insulting each other. One night Sloane ends up at the bar alone when she meets up with Reece. When he turns down her advances in a not so nice way Sloane totally rights off Reece.
When she finds out he is on the auction block for an annual firefighter’s fundraiser she sees a perfect way to get back at him for that awful night. Now he is on call to do 4 chores for Sloane in the next 30 days. Whatever she wants him to do and his boss wants Sloane to keep him updated on his behavior. Reece was worried at first about what Sloane would make him do.
As they started spending time together some feelings started sparking between them. Both have been hurt before. Are they willing to risk their hearts to see if this relationship is what they have been looking for.

Reece is the sexy firefighter who after getting his heart broken by his last girlfriend has decided that one night stands are the way to ensure that it doesn’t happen again. Sloan is a nurse practitioner with a heart of gold who believes that the right man is out there, and she just needs to find him. She has been crushing on her best friend’s brother for a while but after a few drinks too many when she makes the first move he lets her down none too gently and ever since they have been more enemies than friends.
The last place that Reece wants to be is on stage at the Firefighter Charity Auction where he must grant four wishes over four weeks to the winning bid. Sloan has decided that the perfect way to exact her revenge is to have him at her beck and call and nothing will stand in her way. The only problem is that plans seldom work out as expected but the fire between them burst into flames or be doused by their pasts?
This is an enemies to lovers story filled with humorous banter and hot chemistry. The only thing standing between Reece and Sloan are their past and they have a few setbacks as they try to leave it where it belongs. I am enjoying this series and looking forward to the next installment. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Reese and Sloan
They have been skirting around one another for years. Getting on each other's nerves seems to be their specialty. But you do know that their is a fine line between love and hate . Sloan discovers that Reese will be auctioned off for charity and decides that she needs a handy man to torture. They were so entertaining to read ! I so enjoyed their witty banter and underlying sizzle . Great story!

Sloane and Reece have known each other since forever because Sloane is Reece's sister's best friend. And they got along fine until a year ago when something happened and war was declared.
Now, they spent all the time in each other company, snapping at each other, hurting each other.
Until Reece is put on auction as part as his job as a fireman and Sloane decides she'd like to see him at her beck and call...
This was a fun read. The characters were really likable and I enjoy all fire-station and hospital related stories.
The plot was a little predictable but it still made for a nice read.
I really enjoyed the dynamics between all the characters and all of Reece's family drama.
Really just a cute, enjoyable, fast read. I'm most likely gonna read the other book in that series.
Loved the snark and banter of the enemies to lovers book! Reece and Sloan are something else. Reece is a jerk and I mean a class A, big-time JERK. Now he is up for auction at a fundraiser and Sloan has a chance to "buy" him and when she does she has the chance to get him to grant 4 wishes for her. Oh my! So much heat and snark and chemistry it just jumped off my kindle and the pages turned so fast it is a wonder I didn't burn this kindle out with how fast I read this one. Definitely a recommended read!

Reece Jenkins loves his job as a firefighter, that's why when his gruff seemingly-holding-some-kind-of-grudge-against-him Chief tells Reece to give more back to the community or face being transferred, Reece complies immediately.
That's how he finds himself on the auction-block for a charity event that promises the highest bidder the opportunity to have four tasks performed for them within four weeks.
Sloane Garcia has known Reece for many years. I mean she's best friends with his sister so naturally their paths have crossed before. Things has pretty much always been very friendly between the pair until a year ago when a drunk Sloane propositioned Reece and he turned her down a little too over-eagerly. Since then things have been frosty between the pair. Now, Sloane sees the auction as a way to get a little revenge.
But as they spend time together, they start to let their walls down a little and discover that there's maybe more between them than animosity.
This one hit the romance spot for me. I mean the enemies to lovers storyline is pretty straight-forward and Reece and Sloane really embody all that it entails. With the bickering but the undeniable chemistry. The one thing I could probably say as a negative is the fact that I didn't find there was much depth to the characters. I mean they both come out and relay the fact that they've had bad relationships in the past and we get some detail, but I felt like it stayed more at surface level than really exploring how these bad relationships truly effected how Reece and Sloane have moved forward (or not) with new relationships.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy the book, I really did, but when I sit down and think over what I've read, that is the issue that comes to the forefront of my mind. I also don't think it was the intention, clearly, to go any deeper into these issues, instead keeping the book at a lighter level read, which is perfectly fine. I just happen to have hoped we could have delved into these things more.
Something I noticed, and have been noticing lately in my romances is more and more of the male romantic leads acknowledging that they, too, are looking for "the one". No longer is it just something that is assigned to the female romantic lead while the men remain the staunch bachelor until the heroine comes along and changes his ways. Now, I don't know how long our romances have been progressing in this way, but it is something I've noticed in the last few I've read at least. I like the idea of showing that love and romance, marriage and family, are not simply relegated to women. And that it doesn't necessarily take a woman to make a man realize that he wants these things too.
I think this book, moreso than its predecessor, did a lot to pave the way for the next book which I assume will follow Reece's fellow firefighter / friend Cole. There was a certain story thread that remained open at the end of this one. I'm definitely interested to see where and if that picks up in the next book.

I enjoyed this charming enemies-to-lovers romance. Sloane and Reese have known each other since they were kids. Sloane is best friends with Erin, Reese's younger sister from book one. They both were burned in their past serious relationships, and now approach dating in completely different ways. Reese is unrepentant about his 'one date only' rule. Sloane is afraid to date again after her breakup. One night she tried to act on her attraction to Reese, and even with good intentions, his approach to turning her down wasn't the nicest. Sloane was hurt and bitter and they have been enemies ever since. When Sloane finds a way to mess with Reese, she takes it. He is at her mercy because his job seems to depend on how he handles what Sloane throws at him. I was a bit frustrated with how bitter they were after being friends for so long. But their banter, and undeniable chemistry won me over. This is a fun, sweet & steamy story with a bit of suspense that keeps you engaged. I like this group of friends and can't wait for the next book in the Flirting With Fire series.
I love the enemies-to-lovers troupe, and the idea that Sloane would "buy" Reece in the Four for Four Auction (a charity auction where firefighters go to the highest bidders and have to do four "honey do" type tasks for them in the next month) and then come up with evil tasks for him to do for her was inspired. The first was by far my favorite--OMG, Peaches. I'll never hear or see Blake Shelton without thinking of this story again... ;)
Though I loved Sloane (living her best cat lady life...without the actual cats) and Reece individually as characters and of course wanted them to find their HEA, the road on the way there felt unnecessarily aggravating at times with all the two steps forward, nineteen steps back that they tended to do. The cause of their black moment stretched belief a bit but it did have a sweet ending, with the right people making decent reparations for it. There were a lot of LOL moments along the way, too, which kept me reading even when the main characters were making me a little crazy.
It was fun to see Erin and Jake (from book one-- Burning Up ) again, and I've got high hopes for future series books--Hollywood and the arson investigator, right? And Madison needs an HEA... ;) If you haven't read the first book, though, no worries--this one really would do fine as a standalone.
You're gonna want to read book one, however. Just sayin'...

Normally I love the push/pull of a enemies to lovers trope but I have to like the people I'm supposed to root for. I had a hard time doing that here. Sloane started off as a really strong character who knew her own mind and her worth only to end up giving in so easily that it felt like she was replaced by a completely different character. Reese on the other hand, stayed frustratingly the same. I wanted to see a bigger change in him, maybe take a more dominate role in their relationship but he seemed content to just go with the flow. Whether that included Sloane or not didn't seem to matter if his level of effort was any indication.
I did loved the foster dog Peaches, that Sloane tricks Reese into fostering. She added some humor to the story and helped me warm up to Reese. I also liked the strong friendship between Sloane and her besties and seeing Erin and Jake (from book one) again. Second chance romances can be a hit or miss for me. Sadly this one was a miss. It was okay but there were a few things that just didn't sit well with me in the long run.
This is the second book in this series but can be read as a standalone. A enemies to lovers romance, this was a fun, sexy read that I enjoyed as a quick, light read. Not much angst or heart-stopping moments, but a fun, enjoyable book that still makes me want to read the next in this series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
I love a good enemies to lovers, best friend’s older brother story line and this book didn’t disappoint. Reece and Sloane were friends before a misunderstanding a year ago now Sloane really really doesn’t like Reece. Sloane never told her friends what happened between her and Reece so they don’t understand the animosity between them. But the chemistry is still there when they are together even when all they do is throw little digs at each other and try to be the last with the comments. Luckily they are able to finally get past their issue and finally come together until another drunken mistake possibly rips them apart. I enjoyed this book and was so happy when they finally got past their disagreement or I should say when Sloane was finally able to get past what Reece had done.
Sloane and Reece have known each other since childhood. Sloane made a pass at Reece one night while she was drunk. Reece turned her down and the two have been enemies. Reece is a firefighter and goes up for a charity auction. Sloan decides to "buy" the four wishes and make Reece pay for his remarks. These two were fire and the sparks stayed hot between them. A good enemies to lovers read.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
Up in Flames was such a cute read. I love the whole enemies to loves storyline. Sloane and Reece were wonderful to read.
Reece has always had a thing for Sloane ever since he first saw her. But he had a girlfriend and couldn't do anything about it. He was happy with his girlfriend...until he wasn't and now he is a bit jaded. He sleeps with ladies, but never anything more. And he really messed up with Sloane one night when she was drunk and even though he didn't mean to insult her she now hates him. At least they used to be friendly, but now they can't be in the same room as each other. I loved Reece. He is a bit clumsy and is not good with his words especially around Sloane, but he was adorable and a really great guy.
Sloane was in a not so good relationship that kind of took a lot of her confidence away. She is happy now, but still a bit...unsure when it comes to men. It doesn't help that Reece obviously is repulsed by her, but seems to sleep with any other lady who comes along. It stings a little, especially since she did like him, but that is long gone. Now she can't stand him. Right? Sloane was also fun to read. She hates Reece, but not really. When she comes up with a wonderful way to get back at him things don't go the way she expects. She starts to realize that maybe she doesn't know Reece as much as she thought she did. And things start to heat up between them which she wasn't planning on at all.
I loved reading these two. How much they disliked each other, but really didn't. How Sloane tries to embarrass Reece, but how wonderful he is and does whatever she wants. These two were really sweet together and I enjoyed watching them figure everything out.
This book was so much better than the previous story in the series! I loved the animosity between Sloane and Reese, it made the transition to love just that much sweeter for me! Reese totally had it coming to him with what he said to Sloane, and I loved how he changed over the course of the book. Sloane was a little over the top at times, but I loved how loyal she was and how she owned up to her mistakes, ultimately fighting for what was right. I did enjoy the mystery woven into the story, and was disappointed when nothing was resolved with it in this installment. I can't wait to see what happens with the next book in the series!
