This is the second book in Blackwood's Flirting With Fire series and it does work as a standalone. I actually liked it a lot more than the first book in the series. There was more lightness and humor involved in this enemies to lovers tale.Sloane and Reece both do some pretty stupid things over the course of this book but I still really liked them and was rooting for their HEA.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I've read some other comments by other reviewers and have to say, to each his own. This book is a rom-com and has lived up to expectations. It is intended to be a HEA feel good story and it was. I had no expectations with regard to the story that weren't met. We had an educated, smart nurse and a tough, handsome, big-hearted firefighter. Outwardly, they rubbed each other the wrong way but inside they were attracted. Through circumstances they were brought together and found their HEA. The end result is, I was entertained with a sweet story and isn't that why it was written?

I was gifted this book by the publisher and the author in return for an honest review.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by Netgalley)...

I love a good frenemies to lovers romance and I was not disappointed with this book. Sloane, Erin’s bestie, and Reece, Erin’s brother, have a very frenemy-like relationship because of slight incident that happened a year prior.

Sloane is a sassy and fiery woman who doesn’t let Reece get away with macho-man act which leads to some intense build up. Unfortunately for Reece, Sloane totally believes in pay-back and that is where the firefighter auction comes into play. However, her purchase of Reece doesn’t go exactly as either of them expected and feelings begin to develop, but it’s not complete smooth sailing. Meanwhile, Reece’s fire chief is looking to find any way to get rid of him.

I loved Reece and Sloane; their relationship was so intense and fun to watch as it changed. I didn’t want it to end! Also I loved Peaches and her snazzy attire.

I’m pretty sure Hollywood is next book because a certain arson investigator seems to have captured his interest ;)

Everything was fine between long-time friends Reece and Sloane until a year ago, when she hit on him and he turned her down because he knew she'd been drinking. Now, they trade jabs at each other to conceal their feelings. Since Sloane is best friends with Reece's sister, they end up in the same place frequently. The story unfolds as they are forced to spend extra time together after Sloane buys four favors from Reece at the firefighters auction. It is fun to watch the things she makes him do and see if they will admit the feelings they have for each other. Enjoyable book. Not sure if another one is coming, since there's a third firefighter on the team. I felt like there was a loose end left that didn't relate to the relationship, but something I would have liked to know an outcome on.

This is the second book in the flirting with fire series. This has become a new favorite series for me.

Sloane is best friends with Erin whose brother,Reese, is a fireman that Sloane doesn't get along with after a particularly embarrassing night that she wishes she could forget.

When Reese is part of the firefighter auction where the firefighter has to complete 4 tasks for the person who bids on them, Sloane bids on him so she can make him miserable. But it turns out she likes him more than she thought.

I really like this series and can't wait to read more . I received this book from net galley in exchange for a honest review.

I had a lot of trouble getting into this one. I found that I struggled to relate to the characters, although I liked Sloane’s pluckiness. I ended up skimming a fair amount of the book. It got a little bit better about 3./4 of the way through and I got into it more, but overall I can only give it a 2/5.

Jennifer Blackwood's Up in Flames is hot! The chemistry between Sloane and Reece is sexy and amazing to watch. I'm now tempted to dye my hair blue too.

A great, but short, entertaining read.

Sloane has known Reece since school. They aren't really friends as such, but hang out with the same group of people, so are inevitablly forced to spend time together. After a drunken incident a year ago, where she propisitioned him and he refused, the atmosphere between them has been tense. As a way of getting back at him, she bids for him in an auction, and then has a month to get tim to do 4 'favours' for her. This is when the fun begins!

I couldn't get enough of Reece and Sloane. These two characters bickering was comical! Their banter was fun, flirty and sometimes juvenile. However there was hurt on the side of Sloane that made some of the banter hard to read in different places.

I loved the concept of this book. The though of winning in an auction the person who embarrassed you who is then forced to do chores for you. I loved the things Reece has to do especially anything having to do with the dog who likes to pick out it's own outfits. The mental picture of this makes me laugh every time!

Reece is a guy who was trying to do the right thing in a very wrong way and ends up hurting Sloane and the love/hate relationship begins. He is this ultra masculine man who because his boss doesn't like him is forced to be put on the fireman auction block. Much to his dislike, Sloane wins him and the fun begins.

I really liked the scene in which Reece sort of text crashes Sloane's blind date!

I would highly recommend this book! This book was wonderful as a stand alone but I do think you should read book one not only because it is amazing but you get a taste of Reece and Sloane in it.

I love a good friends to lover's book. I also love a best friend and a friend's sister book. This one had both! Add to that hot firefighters, and you have a winner. Reece and Sloane had a love/hate relationship. I was a little put off that we didn't find out until half way through this book as to why, And the reason was kind of immature. The book quickly escalated from hate to love in pages,

How did i not know about this author? I really enjoyed this enemies to friends romance. It took a while for the chemistry to click but I think it was worth it. It was an easy read and I enjoyed the mystery of the arsonist. There were some really funny moments that made up for the slower ones. I will be looking for more from this author.

I absolutely loved Up in Flames. Reeve and Sloane are complete opposites and completely perfect for each other. I loved the banter between them and found myself literally laughing out loud. I didn't know this book was part of a series when I read it but it can definitely be read as a stand alone. I will be checking out the first book in this series.

Great book from page one! Sloane and Reece butt heads like you wouldn’t believe. They act like enemies until the night Sloane bids on Reece at a charity auction. And in four chores he has to do for her, they wind up finally admitting their feelings for each other. Both these characters are great and well developed. They definitely made for a great story! This was my first read by this author and definitely going to be reading more.

I was looking forward to reading this book. I’m in love with these firefighters. This story is really cute. The shenanigans of the big fire fighter and the tiny dog had me laughing out loud. I’m glad I got to read this book. I can’t wait for more !

Firefighter Reece understands being in the hot seat. With his supervisor on his back, Reece needs to take part in a fundraiser - literally pimping himself out to the highest bidder for four favors in the time span of four weeks. Unfortunately for him Sloane wins him and is set on revenge. Sloane wants to make him squirm for walking away a night of drunken sex. But what she does not understand is that he walked away because he has feelings for her. While working o the favors will this be the perfect time to show Sloane that he is not the scumbag she takes him for? Or will the firefighter have to dose the flames when he is around her? With beautifully written characters and a storyline that had me laughing as well as sighing, this was a great book. I was hooked from the opening pages and was sad to see the story end. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Can I just say how much I love Sloane? This is honestly my favorite couple ever! I love how she and Reece are always at each other's throats but the passion behind it, is just amazing.

This book made me laugh so hard at times.

Can't wait for the next one!

This is the second book in Jennifer Blackwood’s Flirting with Fire series. I did not read the first book in the series. The story follows Reece (a firefighter) and Sloan (an advance practitioner at the hospital). We are introduced to them when Reece is injured on the job and Sloane is stitching him up in the ER. From the beginning, there is a lot of angst and sarcasm between them. We learn there is a complicated history.

I thought this story was well written but I had a hard time connecting with characters. I like push and pull between the hero and heroine but this was almost too much. I didn’t really care about either of the characters and I wasn’t invested in whether they got together in the end.

Up in Flames in the second book in the Flirting with Fire series. I hadn't read the first book, but went back and started it before reading this one- once I realized this was a series.

Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. I felt like there was so much back and forth between the two main characters Reece and Sloane that I couldn't connect with them at all. I ended up skimming the last 1/2 of it.

Wow! Never have I loved a book as quickly as this one. Up in Flames by Jennifer Blackwood is smoking hot. Page after page I utterly consumed, I could not put this down . I will definitely make it a point to read many more by this author.

3 1/2 stars out of 5
Jennifer Blackwood tries hard to create sexual tension between Sloane and Reece though snide remarks but instead it comes off childish and a little immature. The story isn't any special and the many times I flipped though the pages because the story didn't seem to be moving forward.

The princess dog was a nice touch and brought some fun moments to the story.

All in all it is a typical romance with two people who act more like children in adult form.

The side story about who is setting the fires and the people who are found in them was interesting.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Montlake for the advance copy of Jennifer Blackwood Up In Flames
