Sam has a problem. Whenever he gets near electronics, they tend to explode. But his roommate, Hansen, has powers as well and offers to help out Sam and get his powers under control. Not only is Hansen harboring feelings for his friend, but the world at large also is not kind to those with powers; the Awakened. If anyone finds out, both their lives would be in grave danger.

This is a cute story but I would have liked to see more of the issue around powers and dealing with how society deals with Awakened people. It's made such a big deal of, saying it's life-threatening for 'sleepers' to find out if you have powers but in the end, this plot point was lacking. The main characters are fleshed out but the cursory world building left me wanting. Expanding on that would make a really cool novel but as it stands, this book is a quick little romance that will keep you reasonably entertained for a short while. 3.5 out of 5.

Hansen and Sam end up being “friends to lovers”. This book is funny, sweet, and the sex scenes are hot. I liked the paranormal viewpoint and how Sam tried to help. Overall, it’s a great read. I'm planing on reading the other books in this series.

It was an entertaining book. It took me a while to get myself into it but eventually I got to a point where I was hook to it. The final moments of it were really interesting.

I liked the whole paranormal thing going on about the guys but I think I couldn’t really understand the sense of it or what it meant. It that matter, I felt the plot was underdeveloped. It had a lot of potential but I don’t think it really get to be explored. What I did liked about it was the final moments, there were some events that were very exciting that I just couldn’t read fast enough. Sadly, I didn’t feel the same way for the rest of the book.

Hansen and Sam were a very nice couple. I liked their moments together, even though I did felt like there was too much sex. I would rather have more emotion between them than it actually was. Even with the issues I had I did enjoy the story and being part of a series and really interested on discovering what will come next. I do think the plot whole will be solve in the next instalments.

So, I was in the mood for supers and this came to hand. It wasn't what I was really looking for, these're people with powers going to college, not supers, but well. Anyway, it was short and sweet. The romance went smoothly <spoiler>as the love interest, Sam, turned out to be happily (and knowingly) bi without his roomie, Hansen, realizing</spoiler> and the sex was fairly hot. The non-romance conflict was two-fold. First Sam realized he wasn't alone in having powers and Hansen's family could teach him how to use his safely. Secondly, "normal" people were to be kept in the dark about their existence (because of the "humans destroy the things they don't understand" trope) and, since Sam couldn't control himself, some people found out. And things went south for a while there. Like I said, not what I was looking for, but quite good for an afternoon read.

I am a huge fan of stories with superheroes and superpowers. Therefore, Equilibrium seemed an obvious pick for me. There were things I liked about it: the prose was good, the characters came across well, and I enjoyed the idea of needing to control newly discovered powers. However, the book fell a little flat for me because of the imbalance between sex scenes and plot. In many ways, I felt you could have taken the bedroom scenes and put any plot around them. I experienced no sense of drama or concern over the events unfolding, because I wasn't given enough detail and time to dwell on them. For me this was a three-star read. It was well written, but I simply prefer there to be greater balance between plot and romance, and this book could have accomplished that either by trimming the sex scenes a little or spending extra time on the plot elements.
