Delightful and hilarious, fluffy romantic comedy inspired by Midsummer Night's Dream! The voice and energy in this story is refreshing and so much fun to read. If winter is getting you down, pick this book up.

On the plus side, I liked the voice of Smith's debut, and it was a quick read. Unfortunately, the plot leans heavily on miscommunication and the characters making choices that don't necessarily make sense with their established characterization. As a result, I largely found this read frustrating and melodramatic. There's promise here, however, and I do think Smith could write books I would really enjoy; this one just isn't it.

I really could not get into this one. The characters and the writing were not engaging enough. The situations were trite, and forced making things occur that were unrealistic and over blown. I couldn't understand how there would be a scene where her friends were shit to her but it still worked out with a cute little ribbon. Then I saw that the author was a huge fan of Disney and it all made sense. This book read like a Disney middle school show, where I could hear the stale laugh track where the author felt we should be like, "Oh you so silly...."

Imagine that homecoming is in two weeks, and you do not have a date yet. You have fourteen days to find someone who can take you out for one big night. Match Me If You Can is an excellent book. The plot is great, and has a mix of comedy and romance. There is a love triangle that involves in the story. Mia likes Vince very much, but her best friend Robyn thinks that she will be with Logan. Very interesting. Besides, Match Me If You Can is amazing and fun to read. It is funny, sweet, and a bit of drama. I think that this book will be great for Valentine’s Day because that is coming next month. Also, you can read it at any time. I will recommend this book to fans of contemporary YA as well as romance.

Based loosely on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, this cute story follows Mia, Elena, Logan, and Vince as they weather the dramatic storm of high school relationships. Mia's best friend Robyn is a great matchmaker, but when Robyn refuses to match Mia with her crush Vince for homecoming, Mia decides to take matters into her own hands. As she and Vince start dating, Mia also begins to realize that Elena likes Vince. At the same time, Logan continues to tease Mia and make her feel an attraction to him that she doesn't feel with Vince. Mia's deception begins to snowball out of control, and soon she doesn't know what to do or how to feel. Will she be able to fix everything before it's too late?
I loved this cute, yet dramatic book. The author created realistic characters and situations, and the humor used was excellent. Some of the situations had me laughing out loud. Though the storyline was wrapped around teenage romantic drama, it was never too much. In fact, out of all of the YA fiction I've read, I don't think I've ever read a better example of love triangles gone wild. This was a perfectly fun and enjoyable read that I have already recommended to a faculty member where I work. I was very happy with the outcome of this book and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a fun read with excellent dialogue and unforgettable characters. I'm looking forward to Tiana Smith's next book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley, and I also purchased a copy. A positive review was not required, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This was honestly such an adorable book! I somehow managed to finish the entire book in one sitting which I haven’t done in such a long time. I think this testaments to how good of a book this was.

Match Me If You Can is a very cute YA contemporary novel with all of the fluffiness that one should want. I also think that Logan can be my next book boyfriend because he is literally so adorable and the amount of effort that he put in to win over Mia was everything. Where can I find a Logan in real life?

I think the best part of this book was how relatable it was despite it being overly cute (a good thing!) and the love triangle. The author did a fabulous job with balancing all of the different parts of their lives (i.e. school, journalism competition, friendship and of course, romance) that everything really made sense.

Mia did take some time being indecisive in terms of which guy she wanted but I think that was mostly because of all of the factors that were taking place. Even though, personally, I thought that Logan was the obvious choice but then again, they also had this history which made Mia very wary of how sincere he was. It also made me feel that she, too, was sincere because she took her time to figuring out both guys to ultimately come with her decision.

The friendship was also really well portrayed in this book. I loved the friendship between Mia and Robyn. It was clear how close they were despite the fact that one of them (ahem, Mia) went behind the back of the other to utilize the matchmaking service and how despite that, they were still able to make up pretty quickly after that and still work together to figure things out. That is pure friendship goals right there, I think.

Overall, this was such an adorable book and I can’t believe that this is her debut novel! If that’s the case then I think we can expect some pretty adorable contemporaries from her in the future!

Note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Summary: Mia has had a crush on Vince forever but he has never noticed her but Mia has a plan. She is going to use her best friend, Robyn’s, matchmaker service to get Vince to ask her out. The only problem is Vince is about to be matched to someone else. Plus, there is Logan the wrong boy who Mia can stay away from.

Review: This book has everything that I usually love in a good YA romcom but for some reason I just didn’t love it. The story felt a little to melodramatic to be a romcom but not dramatic enough to be a dramatic fiction. The book fell in an odd in between that just never really appealed to me. I also never warmed up to the characters. Both Vince and Logan felt like stereotypical love interests but lack enough depth for me to actually care about either of them. However, the biggest issue I had with this book was Mia. I never warmed up to her to her or her narrative voice which felt stiff and unnatural while Mia was unlikable. This book is getting a lot of positive reviews on Goodreads however it left me wanting more.

Mia needs a date for homecoming, and her dream date, Vince, would be perfect if only she can get Robyn, her best friend, to match them together. Robyn manages a matchmaking service and takes her duties very seriously. Robyn is adamant that Vince is not the one for Mia. After embarrassing herself in front of the whole student body, she decides to take matters into her own hands and match herself with Vince whether Robyn approves or not. What started as an impulse decision quickly spirals out of control. Match Me If You Can by Tiana Smith should definitely be on your radar!

The writing is absolutely fantastic! This fluffy contemporary will certainly make you swoon and cringe in all the right places. There were even instances where I was suffering from secondhand embarrassment because the story and Mia’s character is told so well! This book demands reactions, since it’s told in such a raw and real way: at some points, I was caught talking to the book as if the characters could hear me. The writing immerses you into the story.

It is so rare to find a book that includes genuine laugh out loud funny moments. Yet, Match Me If You Can is definitely one of them.

Mia is 100% relatable. We would be instant best friends. Her thoughts and actions seem so real, a true teen portrayal.

I loved how connected Mia was with her friends in the beginning. I only wished we got to see more of them together. Robyn was the most mysterious of the three. Her matchmaking service opens a hundred questions about her character that we do not receive in Match Me If You Can. It would have been great to get to know Robyn a bit more. Elena, the more out-going of the three, kept the group fun and impulsive. The friend dynamic worked so well.

There were some instances in Match Me If You Can that could have explored bullying. Instead, Smith just scratches the surface. If explored, it would have added a bit more depth to all the characters—to see how they each reacted to the bullying.

Usually YA suffers from the absent parent syndrome, where parents have so little to do with their children or they’re not even mentioned, but I was so delighted to see parents in Match Me If You Can. And in such a positive way, too. They were somewhat involved in their daughter's life and laid down the rules of the house. Mia and her parents had real discussions which creates an even more real-life portrayal of high school life. It really made the book so much more realistic.

The romance explores the uncertainty of love and finding it in the place you least expect. Even though it is rather predictable, the swoon factor is still at an all-time high.

If you love cute, adorable and fluffy contemporaries, you'll love Match Me If You Can. The romance immediately enchants you, cementing this book as a new favorite!

Mia needs a date for the Homecoming dance, STAT. But her bestie Robyn is refusing to play match maker for her with her dream boy Vince, even everyone else in school uses her services. Instead, Robyn insists that loner and Mia's bane Logan is a better fit for Mia, much to Mia's horror. After making a public fool of herself, Mia is desperate- desperate enough to betray Robyn and take matters into her own hands.

This was the cute read I was hoping for. When I first started, I was slightly hesitant since it seemed like I had encountered multiple books recently with a very similar plot. But then "things" happened and surprising plot twists made this into a unique read. It also doesn't hurt that the characters feel real, entertaining and quirky, like people I would be friends with.

“He asked you to homecoming, Mia. That doesn’t mean you’re dating,” Logan said. “I can’t have you think some jock is the perfect example of romantic-ness.”
“That’s not a word,” I said.
“You see, if you want to woo someone, you have to know the best way to go about it.”
“‘ Woo someone’? What is this, the fifteen hundreds?”
...I was out of options. Apparently I was going to be wooed whether I liked it or not.

We have two sort of love interests in the book- Vince and Logan. Vince seems nice enough, but he is more an idea or expectation then a real person to Mia- the unattainable fantasy. And then we have Logan. I loved everything about Logan, from his lack of embarrassment, his chill attitude and perspective, laid back appearance and overall the banter between him and Mia. I wanted to scream at Mia to just see Logan as a boy, not her nemesis, but that folks is how plot works.

“You’re my favorite,” he said. His breath tickled my cheek, and I looked up to see his chocolate eyes soaking me in.
“Your favorite what?” I asked.
“Everything. You’re my favorite everything.”

Hands down, this is my absolute favorite quote/scene from the book, it was just so swoony and perfect it is hard not to just melt into a puddle right now thinking about it. I had such a hard time picking just a few quotes to share in my review because I found so many of the interactions and banter to be cute, sweet or hysterical.

This was the perfect mix of cute, sweet, swoony, funny, and teen drama that I really love in my YA contemporaries. I can't believe that this is Tiana's debut novel because it was so well written, personable, engaging and just about everything I could have asked for in a book. I can't wait to see what she will write next! This also happens to be my book club's pick for February (because you need love in your books for Valentines Day!) and I am excited to share my love of Match Me If You Can with my book friends.

This book is everything I was hoping it would be! This light and fluffy YA romance was so much fun! I practically binge read it which I don’t do often so if that tells you anything…it does…it tells you to go buy this book!!

This book was like reading the script for a 2000’s rom com and I LOVED it! Mia’s friend Robin is in the business of matchmaking & Mia is determined to have her match her with her crush! When Robin refuses to match her with the person Mia believes she’s meant to be with she decides to take matters into her own hands!

Now Mia’s decision to go behind her best friends back starts to have consequences and the next thing she knows her friends have started pulling away from her. Robin tells her it’s up to Mia to fix what she did without causing any more damage to her business. Can Mia fix all the things she’s broken or will she end up alone and without her friends?

Check out this adorably fun and fluffy YA contemporary romance to find out if Mia can put everything back together and come out on top, and see who she’s actually been matched with!

This book was such a charmingly entertaining read! Lighthearted and fluffy, Match Me If You Can by Tiana Smith had plenty of giggles, swoons, butterflies, fun drama and all the warm fuzzies that kept me flipping through the pages.

I love heartwarming YA rom-coms and this one most definitely did not disappoint. The writing was crisp and easy to read. The plot was incredibly fun, amusing, and engaging. Although a few things were quite predictable, there were some fun twists that completely surprised me. There was never a dull moment and I always wanted to know what would happen next. The characters were realistic and likable and even if they were a bit frustrating at times, you can't help but fall in love with them anyway. The romance was sweet and swoony. I LOVEDDDD the tension and chemistry between Logan and Mia and thought their interactions were just the cutest. This truly was an enjoyable read  and it made me feel light and just so darn happy.

Before I wrap up my review, I just want to say thanks to Tiana for giving me a new book boyfriend to swoon over. I was instantly smitten with Logan and rooted for him so hard. He's thoughtful, honest, artistic, considerate and cute. I loved his sense of humor and his sweet sensitive side. He totally gave me the feels. Not to mention his relationship with his sister was absolutely endearing.

Deliciously fun and wonderfully addictive, Match Me If You Can was an absolute delight to read and I savored every moment until the very last page. As a debut author, Tiana Smith proved that she knows how to bring on the FEELS and she did it amazingly. She created an adorably charming, funny, and sweet story that had me glued to the pages. I'll definitely be keeping a lookout for Smith's future novels and cannot wait to see what she comes out with next.

If you're looking for a fluffy feel good YA contemporary story with lovable characters and sweet romance, then this book is the perfect match for you.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts, swoons, giggles, and opinion are my own.

Match Me if you Can  is a standalone young adult contemporary romance by Tiana Smith. In fact, Match me if you Can is Tiana's debut novel, which blew me away. I loved this book. It was super cute, and even though it was pretty predictable and the characters could be a bit immature, it was a great time from start to finish for me. Match Me if you Can is a new twist on the matchmakers trope that I always seem to enjoy. Match Me if you Can is also a retelling of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Here, our main character is not the matchmaker, but rather her best friend is a well respected match maker at her high school. Our main character, Mia hijaccks her friend Robyn's match making email to set herself up with her crush.

I loved all of the characters in this book. I thought they were age appropriate and all well developed. Mia, Robyn, Logan and Vince all really captured my heart.  But Logan most of all. Let me set the stage for you. Mia likes Vince, the popular soccer player. Vince saw how well match making worked for his best friend, so he writes in to Robyn and requests to be matched. Mia jumps on Robyn's email and matches herself with Vince. Insert Logan who has had a crush on Mia for forever, a looming prom (complete with promposals galore!) and you have a wayy too cute young adult high school rom com that I simply could not put down.

I loved how up front Logan was with Mia the whole time. She was an idiot for not being #TeamLogan from the start, but Vince was also a nice guy and Mia was a teenager with hearts in her eyes, so I get it...kinda. I was just so smitten with sweet Logan that Vince never did it for me. But watching the comedy of errors play out was fun nonetheless. I loved seeing Mia figure out which guy was the right guy. If you are a fan of really sweet and cute high school based romantic comedies, I think Match me if you can is a must read. I loved it! I am already lining up for Tiana Smith's next book, Not Up for Debate, which is being pitched as a young adult you've got mail. Heck yes!! I need that book in my life right now. Tiana Smith- you have a new fan in me. :)

This book grabbed me from the very first page. It was cute and funny, and in a lot of ways, very realistic for teenagers. There was a point late in the book when I was thinking how much drama the characters were adding to the whole thing, but I can't complain about a teen book having teens acting like teens. I do feel like Mia should have caught on to the fact that Vince was probably meant to be with her friend Elena, but sometimes teens are pretty self-absorbed and her not seeing past what she wanted and all the trauma that was happening to her totally makes sense. On the one hand, Logan was totally what people say about how the boys tease the girls they like and pick on them. But on the other hand, he was definitely so much fun and I don't know how Mia hadn't gotten any little inkling of interest in him before. I understand too when there is that perfect guy you're dreaming of, Vince, that it is often hard to see anyone else, especially if it seems like what you've been wishing for is finally coming true. I get helping her friend Robyn out, but in a way I hate that Robyn didn't tell Mia about the competition to try for. One thing I did wonder about though, with her dad having a way for her to get some journalism experience, wasn't there anything else to help her that way with her goals of becoming a journalist? I was a bit surprised her dad had never thought of that before. While I know it was teenagers and I mentioned before the extra drama is normal, I have to wonder if guys would be like Logan was at the end. Their pride and all that. Anyway, it was a page-turner, so hard to put it down, and another that I was lucky enough to have lots of extra time and almost read in a day!

My Rating 3.5 stars

Match Me If You Can is one of those books that seems like it's going to be a typical romance read where everyone ends up with who they originally wanted. Instead, though we are lead on a twisty trail of infatuation, like, and finally love. Friendship though is the most surprising part of this book which made me like it so much!

Mia is our main character who has a crush on the soccer player that everyone else loves. The problem is he has no idea she feels this way nor is he really attracted to her it seems. So Mia decides to take things into her own and hands and in the process messes up a lot of things.
Mia and Robyn have one of the most realistic (in my opinion) young adult friendships. Robyn has a matchmaking business which is how she is saving for a car, but she also works on the newspaper with Mia. The newspaper is something they both love and hope to make a career of doing to a certain extent. Also, can we just talk about how nice their teacher was? Seriously we need more like him in the education system.

Overall I found this book enjoyable. It seemed really realistic for a teen romance which was nice. I loved how involved Mia's parents were and how they truly seemed to care. It's something we're seeing more of in YA finally and its just really nice to see that. Mia while stubborn at times was also a surprisingly likable character she had flaws and perks and you can tell she truly did feel sorry for what she did. Her love interests were guys that were easy to like as well. While it might have been extremely obvious to tell who she was going to end up with, it was still an enjoyable read.

Thank you so much for approving me for this ARC. My review will go live on my blog (www.bookslaying.com), Amazon, B&N, and Goodreads on 1/9/19, as that is my tour date on the Xpresso Reads Match Me If You Can blog tour.

Here is my review:

Match Me If You Can is one of those YA books that I could see Netflix adapting, like they've been doing a lot lately with other cute contemporary romance books, like The Kissing Booth and To All the Boys I've Loved Before. It's got a wide, and interesting cast of characters, that although I personally wouldn't have related to in high school, would relate to a fair amount of high-schoolers.

You've got Logan, the cute, funny guy, who has a lot to offer a girl, but unfortunately often gets overlooked. There's Vince, the kinda stereotypical, attractive football player, who is a bit too obsessed with himself, and what others thinks. Robyn is that best friend who always has your back, but doesn't sugar coat things for you. There's Elena, the popular, on-again-off-again bitchy girl, who isn't a completely terrible person, but will also never be a great friend. Then there's Mia, the quiet girl, with a lot of insecurities, who thinks that being popular will solve all her problems, including making her happy.

Mia, our MC, wasn't the most likable of characters. Although I understood that her actions were motivated by her insecurities, she bothered me, because she hurt others to get what she wanted. She made a lot of selfish, stupid decisions, and for the longest time refused to see the big picture. Thankfully she grows a lot throughout the story, and becomes someone I could respect.

Elena is another character who had significant character growth. Like Mia, she took a step back, and reflected on the poor decisions she made. Mia wasn't the only one who felt less-than.

Match Me If You Can is a fun, quick read, that is the perfect book to slip in between heavy reads.

*3.5 stars*

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah! What a breath of fresh air Match Me If You Can is! It started strong. It may have begun shattering Mia's perfect world on the wrong foot but definitely not in my point of view. Hahaha! I always have been a huge fan of haters to lovers trope then Smith thrown in more elements that made it so much more enthralling as it the plot thickens.

From page one, the writing for me works and is compelling. It captivated my attention in a jiffy. Heck, my cousins visited that weekend when I began reading this and I was not able to tear away my eyes off my e-reader. They eventually left me to watch a movie because I was grinning too much.

To some romance is a cliche but I believe romance is the most difficult thing to write; it is tricky to draw readers attention but done right? well, you'll find one sucked deep into it, flipping pages until there's the last. And that what happened with Match Me If You Can. The writing came out in a swoosh, the personality of the book come out naturally. The book alone, the characters is entirely different.

The characters take us into different dimensions, at times there came a point it felt flat. Nevertheless, they are of nothing forced of a persona. They pop out like they are their own. I find them all effortless and wrapped up with their own game. Motivated by their angst believingly, fulfilling the norm that exists in high school. Or breaking that stigma.

Another thing to like is the character development, Mia's character from a state of mind seemingly superficial and can be a bit uptight and the transformation, it was a pleasure to witness. Logan, he's not only painted as that ideal likeness of stereotype. That one would swoon over for. Robyn, Elena, Mia's friends. I was stressing over them through in a good way. Vince, the school jock, had shown a little more than what I thought he would be.

It's something we had seen before in books and movies. However, the twist here still managed to woo me, winning me over really good. It may strike some as predictable, and it is but it took turns on another journey before truly hitting the nail of predictability you were expecting. And I think that's what made this one unique and refreshing.

Match Me If You Can's pacing is fitting to its voice, it's engaging as a whole. The plot's turn of events and the romance movement is right about. I believe that one would find the romance here playing out like their favorite romantic comedy movie. And I know everyone has their one guilty pleasure.

Ready your book-crush list because you may add one in there! Seemingly so, I haven't read or seen it yet but it's been said that this is a YA Retelling of A Midsummer's Night Dream.

If you are looking for a fluffy read, if you just want to swoon over someone, if you want to break your face from smiling, I recommend Match Me If You Can!

Match Me If You Can is a drama-filled pageturner. This romantic, fast-paced story is driven by a pure drama-llama high schooler by the name of Mia. Mia is a good student and a cautious person, but when it comes to crushes and finding the “perfect” homecoming date, Mia makes some life-changing decisions that creates a pile-up of white lies and messy hearts.

I found Match Me if You Can to be very reminiscent of 90s romance movies, so obviously I couldn’t stop turning the page to see how the story ends. And once the main character starts creating a mess of her love and social life, friendships start to falter, emotions become tangled, and Mia begins questioning her feelings between two guys. I thought the frenzy that Mia causes would sway me away from the story, but actually I was enamored by her narrative and finding out how everything would unfold.

If you are a fan of goofy guys, dating shenanigans, and 90s romcoms, I highly recommend that you read Match Me if You Can. And for more reasons on why you should read this book, check out my moodboard below, which was inspired by some of the book’s most swooniest moments.
