I had previously read one book in the Downward Dog series and enjoyed it. So when I saw an opportunity to request the book from NetGalley, I did so. I’m grateful to have received a copy, but I didn’t enjoy this book very much. I found it just depressing and with a very predictable ending. I read cozies to get away and as an escape and to have fun and laugh. I didn’t experience that with this story. However, I’m sure there are many people who would enjoy this one and, if one is a fan of Tracy Weber, I’d still encourage them to give it a try.
This is the sixth in the Downward Dog Mystery series. I like this series even though at times it seems a little whiney.
What I like about this series is the relevancy to current times. This episode deals with teenage homelessness which is becoming a more prominent matter in many communities. The teens are coach surfing, trying to get an education and stay safe and healthy.
The other thing I like is that Kate has everyday concerns just like the readers. She has disagreements with friends & her husband but she deals with it.
This is a well-crafted mystery with characters that have a personality. I recommend this to anyone looking for a fast paced mystery with some local relevancy to the times.
I enjoyed this book. The mystery took awhile to get started but when it did the mystery had great twists and turns and I loved the ending. The book really focused on Kate and her infertility and explored Kate as a person and not just a sleuth. Bella is adorable as always. I recommend this book and it could be read as a stand alone, even though it is the sixth book in the series.
I am a big fan of the author's writing and this new addition to the series was exceptional in every aspect. It is truly the "definitive Cozy Mystery!" . I highly recommend this 6th book in the "Downward Dog Mystery" series. Thank you for the ARC which does not influence my review. This is such a wonderful series with exceptional plots and wonderful well crafted sleuth in every book.
In this next in series our protagonist Kate Davidson has just gotten married and has discovered she has infertility problems. She is also facing stress with her yoga studio that is still popular but a lower cost studio has just opened up across the street from her and she is seeing a difference in her business. She has also decided that starting a yoga class for homeless teenagers is dear to her heart and something she is driven to do. As she grapples with these issues a murder occurs at the studio.
When a well liked employee turns up dead. So Kate decides that she and her adorable German Shepherd are going to investigate and put her own life issues on hold.
This book was gripping. I was unable to put it down. So many emotions here from the homeless teens, to the murder and the clues abound as she delves into the murder. The reader is captured from the beginning. I love this book and found it a definitive cozy mystery with a excellent cast and a well crafted sleuth.
A wonderful read.
Murder Likes It Hot by Tracy Weber is the 6th book in the Downward Dog Mystery, and my second book by this author. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the previous books. Kate Davidson is in a funk, because her and husband, Michael, have not been able to get pregnant, and a new Yoga studio has opened. Kate's has been offered a job teaching homeless teens yoga, which lifts her spirits. There are twists and turns around every corner, and I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. If your looking for a fun cozy mystery I recommend this book/series.
I was given a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.
This is a fairly standard cozy mystery, with a big part of the story on the personal life of the main character. This is well written however, and not distracting from the main action. Good plot and very believable characters.
MURDER LIKES IT HOT by Tracy Weber
The Sixth Downward Dog Mystery
Kate Davidson should be on top of the world. She's been married for a year to a wonderful man, she has a remarkable best friend, who has made it big as an entrepreneur, an incredible German Shepherd, and a Yoga studio that is doing well. But Kate is not happy. For one thing a competing yoga studio has opened a new branch right across the street from Serenity Yoga. More troubling for Kate is her infertility. She's consequently been distancing herself from her best friend, unable to see the happy mothers shopping at Infant Gratification or her own godchildren. Taking her mind off her own problems, Kate is encouraged to offer Yoga classes at a center for homeless youth. Will she find peace at Teen Path HOME, or will she find murder?
Author Tracy Weber tackles some intense topics in her sixth Downward Dog Mystery, notably infertility and teen homelessness. Personally, I cannot comprehend women who believe they are something less if they don't have children and it boggles my mind that people are willing to go into debt in order to have a baby. Therefore, a good portion of me was shaking my head at Kate for the first portion on this book. Fortunately, as Kate got involved in another murder, my interest was again piqued and I loved getting swept away by the mystery.
Deepening characterization added dimension, but I wish that Bella would have played a bigger role. She took a decidedly back seat to all of the drama in this book. However, I was thrilled with the addition of Ed and Lonnie. I have been a rat mom for years and am delighted to see them not only added to a mystery, but portrayed in a positive light.
MURDER LIKES IT HOT is able to incorporate troubling societal issues into a compelling mystery.
Murder Likes It Hot by Tracy Weber is the sixth book in Downward Dog Mystery series and an absorbing story in so many ways and not just your regular mystery.
Even though I haven't read previous book I decided to give it a try as I practice yoga myself and the short description sounded really inviting. I didn't have any problems getting into the story as all previous references are well explained.
Kate, owner of a yoga studio and her husband Michael are trying to conceive a child but without success. Their feelings, relationship and life is in the turmoil due to the bad news they receive from the doctor when even more problems come their way. A new yoga studio is opening right across from Kate's and threatening her existence. To take her mind off her problems she starts yoga class at the homeless youth center.
Unfortunately things go from bad to worse when center's employee is found dead. So it's time for Kate to do some sleuthing and find the culprit.
I think this is one of the darkest and the most realistic cozies I have read. It deals in detail with infertility issues and an effect it has on couples. I also liked the fact that animals in this story also had some psychological problems as well.
It is a steady paced and well written story. Lots of twists and turns to keep it interesting. I liked that it was not just a mystery but that we got the glimpse of characters whole life as well, not just her sleuthing abilities.
Some serious issues are addressed in this cozy mystery. A few tears were shed, especially at the end. The sweet yoga instructor with a big heart tries to solve the mystery without endangering herself. We all know she will end up in peril sooner or later. Enjoyable series, even for those not interested in yoga, such as me. I do enjoy the dog and other animals involved.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for a review. Having not read any of the books in this series I was not familiar with the characters and premise beyond the blurb. Given that, I found the main character a little annoying and fluffy and while I could understand the depth of her need for a child, it still did not make sense how much she ignored her own business and barely connected with her family in pursuit of this "mystery". The whodunit itself was ok with a couple of twists and turns but I did not get super invested in the outcome. The climax also was a little confusing and did not have the impact of the decisions that were taken.
The Downward Dog series is what sparked my love of cozy mysteries. I have grown emotionally attached to Kate Davidson and her fascinating life ever since the first book. I received an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley. I was ecstatic to see how Kate's life has been since book five.
Just like in books 1-5, Kate is entangled in solving a murder. She often puts solving the murder ahead of her personal life, her own well-being, and her yoga business. LOVE the ending!! I really enjoy reading these books, and can't wait for more!
I love this series and I loved this instalment.
It was a good mystery with strong elements of women's fiction.
It was moving and enjoyable, I felt for Kate's fertility issues and enjoyed the mystery.
The cast of characters was very interesting and likeable as usual.
The mystery was good, full of twists and turns, and it kept me guessing till the end.
I look forward to reading the next instalment in this series.
Highly recommended
Many thanks to Midnight Ink and Netgalley for this ARC
Read and adored! Kate is not what most yogis would strive to be; she isn't even what she strives to be but she is an outstanding and caring person. I would rather know someone with that much heart than someone who can face all things calmly. The very fact that she is far from perfect makes her more relatable than many of the characters that I love. It has been delightful watching her relationships develop through the series and in this book we meet a new person to fall in love with.
Kate and Michael are facing a tough time, one that many people I know are facing today or have had to face. They desperately want a child of their own but have no luck conceiving and no extra money to look at alternatives. One suggestion for making a little extra teaching yoga leads Kate to a day shelter for homeless youth where her worlds gets turned upside down. Kate hasn't always had it easy, but what these kids face and how they deal with it leaves Kate stunned and depressed and needing to help, especially when one is accused of murder.
Thanks to NetGalley and Midnight Ink for the chance to read the ARC of this fantastic book early! I can't wait to tell all of my friends and followers how great it is.

This was a quick, fun read. Similar to other "themed-mysteries" the reader is given some exposure to yoga but it is general enough so the reader doesn't have to have any prior knowledge of yoga to appreciate the story. I didn't guess the solution to the mystery, so that was a good thing too.
I would recommend this mystery to those wanting a fun mystery to read.
The newest installment in Tracy Weber's yoga mysteries. When a dead body is found at the youth center where Kate is teaching yoga classes, this instructor turned slueth must figure out whodunit. While juggling infertility issues and the grand opening of a rival yoga studio, Kate must find balance in her life before it's too late. After a slow start in which a fairly petty Kate makes bad choices, a good mystery unravels.
#freegalley #Tracy Weber. I have loved every mystery I’ve read by this author. I only found her this year and have devored them. I really thought the infertility subject was treated realistically and great mystery as usual
I love this author and this series. As a newbie at yoga, it is a treat to read about something that I understand. The characters are well written and the plots are always good. I cannot wait for the next book. I highly recommend this series.
Tracy Weber has definitely found the right protagonist to keep readers returning to The Downward Dog Series. Kate Davidson is a likeable character who owns a yoga studio and struggles to be the best person she can be. Right now she feels like a failure. She's barely spoken to her best friend in the last six months and her relationship with her husband is deteriorating. After months of trying for a baby she finds out that it may never happen for her and Michael.
Kate is asked to teach a yoga class at an at risk youth facility in town where many of the clients are homeless.. When the leader of the facility is shot and killed, the police are liking a talented young artist as the shooter. Kate knows Rainbow had nothing to do with the murder. Her ability to read energy has never been wrong and she tells the police there is something not right about the circumstantial evidence.
The continuing characters who are part of the series are well written. There are plenty of suspects to choose from in each mystery to keep the readers guessing and the animals that Kate rescues are a source of humor throughout the book. I'm looking forward to reading the next Downward Dog Mystery.
Thank you Midnight Ink and NetGalley for supplying the Advanced Reader's Copy for the purpose of review The opinions expressed are completely my own.

This is the latest in the downward dog series . Kate and Michael are trying to conceive a child and are having a hard time with it. She is asked to start a yoga class at a youth center for homeless teens. When one of the employees is murdered Kate decides to look into the case because she doesn't believe that the person the police suspect is the true culprit.
I liked this book. It was a bit different from her other books in the series. Kate is helping a homeless teen who ran away from her stepfather. The only thing I didn't like was how Kate was pushing away her best friend Renee. I am glad they made up by the end of the book .
I received this book from net galley in exchange for a honest review .
It always makes me sad to come to the end of a Tracy Weber book. I hate having to leave these characters as I’ve come to love them and feel like I have to say goodbye to my friends (at least until the next books comes out). Murder Likes It Hot has a great murder mystery storyline, amazing characters that continue to grow and evolve with depth and richness, and who doesn’t like some furry friends added into the mix? Some scenes make you laugh, make you cry, and make you go, “Darn, I didn’t see that coming.”
I have read every one of Tracy Weber’s book, and they continue to keep me entertained and provide a suspenseful escape. You can read this book as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend starting at book 1. All her books are great reads.
I enjoyed the well thought out characters and especially the topic and storyline in Murder Likes It Hot book, and I am anxiously waiting for the next one. Please keep the books coming.
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
