I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. This is only the first 4 chapters. But it hase wanting to read the whole book.
I didn't realize there was only a preview to this book. It was going along so quickly that the preview was finished and I was really into this book. I liked it so much, I guess I am going to purchase it to see what happens. The writing was really good and the story was getting so interesting. Thanks NetGalley for the teaser.
Thank you for the free preview! I've been interested in this book for awhile and it was nice getting to read the first four chapters. I loved the writing and the setting and I don't think four chapters were enough for me haha! I hope to read the book someday as I really enjoyed this sampler. I recommend it to fans of historical fiction and I can already tell it will be a success.
I absolutely love the concept and main premise that this book is centered around, and I can't wait to get my hands on the actual book to explore some more. The writing is already so detailed and amazing, and the dual timeline plot should play out quite interestingly. Can't wait to read the book!
I'm sold. The story reads like a rollercoaster, but finally hooks me in the fourth chapter. It's smart, fun, and I like how the three characters meet, and their plans. This is my first behind the scenes fashion storyline and I'm enjoying it.
Will loom for the full book.

I only got access to first few chapters of this book. However that was enough to make me want to read this story. I liked the way the author wrote, though I had not read anything by her previously. Though many are writing about this time period, and I have read more than a few, I feel like this was told through a different perspective. I will read this book!
I thought these first few chapters were intriguing and promising. The style is easy flowing and the plot seems interesting. It does sound appealing.
This was such an enchanting read! 4 chapters went by so fast and I am like, I need to purchase this historical fiction to read this beautifully written story!
This book is about Estella, who is a Parisian dreaming of becoming a fashion designer! She works as a seamstress in Paris with her mother but due to some adverse circumstances has to leave her home town and mother behind to move to New York!
This book is about strong female protagonist surviving her dream of being a fashion designer during the time of WW2!!
Thank you netgalley and foreve pub for this gifted preview copy in exchange of my honest opinion
I love dual timelines in historical fiction. And I particularly loved this one, as I became annoyed every time the timeline switched. Both storylines were so spectacular that I wanted to stay with them and learn what happened next.
This was a different take on a Parisian World War 2 historical fiction because it begins with Estella leaving Paris just before it fell to the Nazis. In the current timeline, Estella's granddaughter Fabienne, explores her family history and links to the past.
I greatly enjoyed the discussion of fashion and design as a theme across both timelines. Other themes centered women's choices and relationships with men. The book highlights the different kinds of love, both romantic and familial.
I highly recommend this for all who enjoy historical fiction and strong female protagonists.
This book made it onto the list of best books that I read in 2018. The story takes place in two time periods, WWII and modern-day. The modern-day character is a relative of the past character. The past character is a famous fashion designer, but here you get her beginnings. How she got started and what she risked to get there. The modern-day character is dealing with her own issues, but she also uncovers a past she knew nothing about. It is simply marvelous the way the two time periods weave together to form a wonderful ending.
Whilst this was a fairly short preview, it definitely gives an interesting introduction to the world of The Paris Seamstress. The writing is absolutely gorgeous, and with high fashion and a setting in Paris I'm highly anticipating reading the rest!
Thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are fully my own.
I reviewed a preview of this book that included the first four chapters. When the book opens, we meet Estella who is a young fashion designer in Paris. We quickly see her act as a spy for a friend of her mother's, learn she is American, escape Paris before it falls to Germany and sail to the United States. The plot moves very quickly and does not take time to develop the events fully. I have no idea where this book is going.
The book is advertised as a book for people who love WW2 fiction. Yet, the character leaves Europe in the first part of the book. With the title and that blurb, I was expecting the book to be set in France during WW2.
Also - there is a second timeline in the present day. But we are not introduced to that during the preview.
Based on the preview alone, I would not read this book. The premise is so interesting but the pacing was way off for me. The lack of development of events leads to the characters not being fully developed.
Thank you Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest review.
High Fashion? Paris? WW2? A female protagonist?! If it’s historical fiction, sign me up! Historical fiction has long since been my absolute favorite genre. As per usual, the initial chapters in any historical fiction starts out with a rather slow burn, designed to give you just enough of a story to latch onto before the pace abruptly quickens. Although this preview only came with the first four chapters I already know I need to buy the book to read the rest!
A very nice preview. While it was only a preview, you can tell this book will be a winner. I look forward to reading this historical fiction book in the future.
The first four chapters of this book are excellent! I am definitely going to have to get the book to continue reading the rest of the story. I love historical fiction, and I like the way that the author writes. I will definitely read this book and look for others by this author. I received a free preview of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for giving me the opportunity to preview The Paris Seamstress by Natasha Lester. The preview is only for Chapters 1-4 but I'm already hooked!
Historical Fiction + High Fashion + WWII in Paris = what's not to love? This is the third book I've read in a row (well, just an excerpt for The Paris Seamstress) that includes two timelines revolving around a strong female protagonist set in 1940's Paris during WWII.
Estella Bisette is a young Parisian seamstress that is sent to New York City by her mother after inadvertently putting herself into danger during WWII. She befriends someone with similar interests as hers on the voyage to the States.
I love reading books that span generations and touch upon sacrifices one has to make for family when dealing with adversity. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the book. I'm happy to have discovered a new Historical Fiction author. Lester has a gift for writing - I can't wait to check out her other books.
Fans of The Nightingale and The Paris Library will enjoy this book.
This preview of the first four chapters of The Paris Seamstress is a book I will be purchasing. The first four chapters have me hooked. Estella is sent to the United States by her mother during World War II after inadvertently putting herself in danger. While on the ship she makes a friend who shares her passion for the fashion world. Arriving in America and looking for a job, she is disheartened to find herself in a similar position as in Paris, drawing sketches of fashionable designers' couture for cheap copies.
I look forward to reading the rest of the book.
Thank you to NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Natasha Lester for the opportunity to read this preview.
I was glad I read this extended preview. The summary of this book sounds interesting but it got off to a slow start in the first few chapters. I couldn’t really get into the book just from the preview but the pace of the book may pick up later on.
A great opening to this novel which goes from Paris of 1940 where Estelle is persuaded to seek her future in America by her seamstress mother as the Nazis occupy the city to her granddaughter Fabienne who is summoned to an exhibit at the famous Met Ball of Estelle’s famous designs. Although I only received the first four chapters I feel that this story will develop into a great read. Beautifully crafted to engage the reader. I cannot wait to read the rest of the story.
I only received a preview of this book but I was hooked after Chapter 1. Would definitely pick it up to read the whole book.
