An Anonymous Girl has been a most enjoyable read. The authors keep you turning the page to see what is going to happen. I found feeling both mad and compassion for Jessica. Just when i thought that I had it all figured out,
everything goes a whole different way. Wow!

I loved this book. I liked it how it built my anticipation. One thing with the book is that I found it very interesting except at the end when I found the climax fell a little flat and predictable. MAybe I expected a lot from this book.

A heart pounding game of cat and mouse you won't want to miss!

"You’re Invited: Seeking women aged 18 to 32 to participate in a study on ethics and morality conducted by a preeminent NYC psychiatrist. Generous compensation. Anonymity guaranteed. Call for more details.

It’s easy to judge other people’s choices. The mother with a grocery cart full of Froot Loops and Double Stuf Oreos who yells at her child. The driver of an expensive convertible who cuts off a slower vehicle. The woman in the quiet coffee shop who yaks on her cell phone. The husband who cheats on his wife.

But what if you knew the mother had lost her job that day?

What if the driver had promised his son he’d make it to his school play, but his boss had insisted he attend a last-minute meeting?

What if the woman in the coffee shop had just received a phone call from the love of her life, a man who’d broken her heart?

And what if the cheater’s wife habitually turned her back on his touch?

Perhaps you would also make a snap judgment about a woman who decides to reveal her innermost secrets to a stranger for money. But suspend your assumptions, at least for now.

We all have reasons for our actions. Even if we hide the reason from those who think they know us best. Even if the reasons are so deeply buried we can’t recognize them ourselves."

An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen is a fast paced thrilling novel with a unique and fresh storyline, well developed characters, and loaded with psychological suspence!
Makeup artist, Jessica Farris could always use some extra money so when she discovers a psychological study that seems simple enough and pays her good money for her time she doesn't even hesitate. The study is simple enough. Just answer questions centered around ethics and morality honestly (there are no wrong answers), and cash in.
Nothing is ever that easy and soon Jessica finds herself playing a dangerous game if cat and mouse that will have your heart in your throat and your nerves buzzing! This is an unputdownable psychological suspence thriller that is not to be missed!!
I have not had a chance to read more of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen but after reading this novel, I'm moving it to the top of my books to read as soon as possible!

Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen for this advanced digital copy to read and review.

Ho hum. I had to push through this one, because it was a book club selection. If it wasn't I would have likely DNF'd it. The premise created a thriller scenario and I did feel invested in reading how Jessica was going to manage the walls closing in on her and/or what Dr. Shields would try next. However, this was a short-lived interest. The story dragged on and on, with expected (yet not too shocking) intrusions and traps. The writing was dry and void of emotion. Even the creepiness factor of Dr. Shield's "voice" in those chapters just didn't seem right. Although I didn't love The Wife Between Us either, I fear I enjoyed this one even less.

Y’all. This book was creepy to the max! Twisty and jumpy and scary...I was hooked from page 1 and I didn’t fully exhale until I was done.
There were some times the story hit a lull but a few pages later, we were right back in the fear zone.

An Anonymous Girl is unputdownable. From the opening pages, readers are introduced to Jessica Harris, a make-up artist trying to make ends meet in NYC and make amends for things from her past she can't forget. In an attempt to make some extra cash, Jessica shows up for a psychological study on morality with no idea of how her life will change. As she begins to answer questions, she opens up completely not realizing that there is more to the study - and the doctor conducting it - than meets the eye. This book is a non-stop roller coaster ride - mysterious, twisted and fast-paced with compelling questions about who we are, who we want to be and whether or not we can get there. A must read!

Oh this was exciting! An Anonymous Girl was a thrilling spin of events, kept me guessing and engaged. The characters were powerful and challenging, and the events kept escalating as the stakes rose higher and higher. Amazing. Thank you NetGalley for the e-reader. All opinions are my own.

This ring-, er, page-turner by the authors of the "The Wife Between Us" serves up pure psychological thrills. Instead of a love triangle, we get a smart cat-and-mouse between a shrink and her subject.

After some obvious turns, there's no telling how the twisty story will end!!

Book clubs: break out the cheese board for this discussion!

Very special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advance reader copy.

This is another book that left me feeling unsure of how I felt about it. It was such a good book. I didn't want to put it down! So compelling, I HAD to know what would happen next. Time after time, I would feel my jaw almost drop open. Some of the plot twists I did not expect to see coming. The ending, however, is what left me unsure. While I did not see that coming, I did expect a different ending. What? I don't know, but not what it was.

This book was so deceptive, so unsettling, just downright creepy. The story line was amazing and definitely different than what has become the norm in psychological thrillers over the past year. It is what drew me in. The hard hitting, edge of your seat writing is what kept me going. I loved how it went from 2 different point of views- Jessica and Dr. Shields. It was nice to be able to read their points of view, instead of just one characters.

I have not read The Wife Between Us, though I do own it. So I went into this book with only the hype of that book and this one. It was all anyone could talk about. If only the ending had of been different, this book would have been at least 4 stars at minimum. That ending just kind of left me hanging..........or is there going to be a sequel? I think it is definitely set up for that possibility.

I received this book from NetGalley AND from BookishFirst from the publisher and authors in exchange for an HONEST, UNBIASED review. My thoughts are my own and in no way swayed by anyone/anything else.

This will be so short and to the point.

Did I like this book? No.
Was I thoroughly engaged the entire time? No.
Did I tend to drift off and need to reread a lot over again? Yes.

I was not all together there when I gave this book a shot. In fact, I decided around the half way mark that I may not even finish this. But for some unknown reason, I picked it up again. I finished it but seriously was tuning it out a lot.

This was not for me. I think a lot of people will enjoy this book but I did not. I didn't give it my 100% attention, my fault. But it felt soooo lengthy and long that I lost interest fast.

This book had me hooked from page one...but I didn’t really like it. That probably doesn’t make sense but let me attempt to justify it. The plot was extremely intriguing but I didn’t like any of the characters - there were none that I emphathized with or wanted to root for.

And the ending was a total cop out - very disapppointing. 3 stars for hooking me in - just wish it had better character development.

I loved The Wife Between Us so I was extremely excited to read this. I really enjoyed each of the characters as well as the layout of this book. we get both women's perspectives; the therapist and the study participant. The therapist was so interesting and kept making me remember this comment i was told in high school, that all therapists see a therapist. Dr Shields is conducting a survey trying to see how people react to certain situations and then puts Jessica into different situations as experiments to see how others will react. But some of these experiments start to make Jessica feel like their is more to the study and begins to get paranoid and for good reason. But Dr. Shields is just too good and well she is a psychologist so she knows how to make Jessica feel like she is overreacting or creating scenarios in her head.
As the story progresses we get to learn some secrets of Dr. Shields with some minor flash backs that have some similarities to Jessica's.
One of the interesting things about Dr. Shields' chapters is the writing style of it. Written kind of like a screen play where we as readers are getting a play by play of what is happening.
I can't say that i loved this more than The Wife Between Us but i can say i was NOT disappointed and will definitely read what ever the come out with next.

This book was a slow burn for me but it was SO worth it. The story weaved together so beautifully and kept me itching to turn the page. This is a must read!

Completely and utterly fascinating. Perhaps I should start out by saying that I have my degree in psychology and I find it intriguing! I did find the story a bit slow to start up and so I had a bit of a hard time staying interested but, if you stick with it, you'll find a deeply engaging story that doesn't stop until the last page!

Do Not Miss This One!

WoW! I only wish this book didn't have to end. One of the best tension filled books that I've read in a long time.

The story begins with Jessica (Jess) who is a hard working makeup artist and struggling to make ends meet every month when she comes across an opportunity to make some easy extra money if she can figure out how to to make this unusual scenario work.

One of Jess's clients has an invitation to take part in a morality study at the nearby university and she is not planning to attend so Jess wants to take her place without anyone knowing and thinks it might be easy to do if it is an anonymous study program. So, here she is starting out with some small lies to begin a morality questionnaire. Hmmm....only the beginning of a long ride into deceit with lies and unscrupulous actions which may eventually endanger to her life as well as her sanity.

This novel is a winner. The story starts out being comfortable and easy and continues to build and build until a very explosive climax that wasn't anticipated and left myself as a reader immensely satisfied yet wishing the story was not over. A wonderful feeling for a reader when one comes across a book that more than makes your anticipation and enthusiasm for a novel to be completely rewarded at it's conclusion.

I want to graciously thank the publisher St. Martin's Press and Netgally for the opportunity to read "An Anonymous Girl" which wil be remembered for a long time.

I highly recommend this book to any reader who loves a well-written story that is uniquely different in so many ways! I have given this book 5 Truly Deserving 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars!!

I received an advanced copy of Anonymous Girl from NetGalley. This is one of the best books I have read in years. A story of intrigue and mystery that questions one’s ethics and morals. What happens when one becomes curious to participate in a study anonymously, would you be honest? The main character finds herself involved in a psychological study and soon gets wrapped up in a maze of unanswered questions and psychological mind game. I really thought this story was thought provoking as well as very well thought out.

This book just wasn't for me. I read about 30% and could not get into the main character. She did not compel me, and nothing about the story really sucked me in up until that point. I also did not like the use of second person POV for the psychologist. I hate to DNF because I loved The Wife Between Us, but I'll be putting this down for now and not reviewing. Thank you for the opportunity.

Not a good one for me. I just did not like the writing style. I really wanted to love this but I could not get into it. The concept was cool and I love the cover. It just was a no for me.

I was absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to read the most recent novel by Hendricks and Pekkanen. It did not disappoint! In fact I feel that it was as good if not better than The Wife Between Us. The characters of Dr. Shields, Thomas, and Jessica are absolutely captivating and appealing to the reader.

The synopsis of the novel is that Jessica agrees to become part of a morality survey when her makeup client decides to not participate. Jessica takes her place and winds up as Subject 52 in a test that goes beyond what was expected. What ends up is that she becomes tied up in Dr. Shields life and that of Dr. Shields husband.

From here the story proceeds with Jessica trying to find out what happened to a prior test subject, while being caught up in a web of marality and lies created by herself and those around her.

A definite thriller that I could not put down. The ending was not by any means shocking but really leaves the reader wondering who was the more manipulative of them all

I look forward to the next book when it comes!
