For a debut novel, I'd say that this book got my attention on two fronts: one, it's set in the desert and has captured a bit of the nomadic lifestyle and two, there's a girl-Lareesa, who is what I'd term a horse whisperer.
From the beginning we see Lareesa accompany Randy to Saudi Arabia for a Wild Horse Expo and whilst there she stumbles upon an ancient book about horse racing and tribal leadership in the desert, she reads out a phrase which turns out to be a spell that sends her into another world, years before technology and she finds herself chained and captured as a slave. She's a fighter but one thing stands out about her is that she's got "green eyes" and to the desert folk, she may just be a goddess- or a threat to other tribes for as long as she is with Laith.

One thing's for sure, Lareesa is determined to get her way and going by this first book, I'd say there are many more challenges ahead.
I enjoyed reading this book, because who wouldn't want a wild horse protecting her? Well, thank you NetGalley for the eARC.
