A girl trying to be bad and a guy trying to be good. They meet and the chemistry is instant. They never realized that they would be seeing each other again. Boy oh boy do they see each other again. Chelsea is inexperienced and always the good girl and Brett has a reputation in the tabloids. What a combination when they get together and they try and keep it a secret. There are insecurities, challenges, and confidence busters and builders in this story and it has a happy ending. i love the re-introduction at the end of the story.

This was my first read by this author and I would continue to read Ms. Taylor in the future. I do recommend this book.

I received this advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

I am so happy to be able to say how much I enjoyed Taking a Shot. It's part of a series, but I was able to follow without much trouble. Taryn Leigh Taylor writes a snappy, sexy book, and I'm definitely going to seek out the rest of the series. I really appreciated the witty dialogue, it seemed to fit the characters and the situations. Taking A Shot begins with a one night stand and the primary couple has no intention of going beyond that. Well, the best laid plans and all that made for an entertaining read. Ms Taylor's character portraits are engaging, both primary and secondary, and Im looking forward to the rest of the series!

In this story by Taryn Leigh Taylor we meet Bret - a hockey star who is Trouble (with the capital T). He ends up in the tabloids just as a hockey teams are signing. One does decide to sign him on as long as he keeps his head in the game and not on his "extracurricular activities". In walks Chelsea London. The girl who is looking for a no-strings attached thrill after being overlooked for the promotion at work. When the two meet there is combustible heat felt through the pages. Yet, when the next morning comes, she realizes he is the new signee of her father's hockey team.

This is a Harlequin Blaze Romance so there was the level of expectancy you receive from reading a HR. However, the story was still page-turning worthy and a sexy story overall.

Being a Hockey Star was one thing. Trying to survive several tabloid scandals was another. Trying to start over in a new team wasn’t easy especially when you may have already started off on the wrong foot before the preseason started. Meeting a woman was definitely not on his to do list but that’s exactly what happened. She was one who never took chances but after feeling her self confidence knocked t the side she took a chance. A one night stand....that turned into several nights. He would make her feel alive for the first time and she would help him get over the insecurities that lingered. Definitely a great hockey romance!

I have chosen not to read and review this tile. While the blurb drew me to the story, I was not engaged with the characters or the way the story was written.

I appreciate the opportunity to review this early title and am looking forward to the next title through your company.

Thanks,
Laura

This book is the first in the Montana Wolfpack series and what a book to kick off this new series by Taryn Leigh Taylor. This author grabs your attention from the very first page, all the way through until the very last word and afterwards too as it’s very hard not for this story to pop back into your mind it was that fantastic. I’m a sucker for a sports romance and man does Taryn knock this one out of the ice ring. Fabulous writing, amazing storyline, awesome characters.....a must read all day long. Bring on the next book in this awesome series. Absolutely recommend

Fantastic from start to finish! The chemistry between Brett and Chelsea is pretty hot, I loved that Brett wasn't the typical professional athlete, he was the type of man you want to bring home to meet the family. Although I'm not sure about Chelsea's family, there's plenty of drama and tension there. I like that the characters came across in a realistic way: there was awkwardness several times, but that was counteracted with humor.

While not a new storyline by any means. Ms Taylor puts a nice sexy play on the owner's daughter/hockey player trope. This is a fun story with good characters that flows nicely.

One crazy night, a mistake that can be outrun and a ton of hot hockey make this a must read! With each new release Taryn gets better and better.

Don't miss her latest - it's scorchin hot!

I love hockey romance books so I tend to devour any that I come across. And devour this one I did. Brett and Chelsea have more in common than they think from the outset. But getting involved with a daughter of a team big wig is almost always a no no. Can these two figure things out or is Brett’s time with his new team about up?

Hockey star Bret Sillinger’s career is down to his last team and it is Montana. They picked up the last year of his contract and though he is a star on the ice his problems are off the ice. Bored in his hotel he decides to go to the bar and he meets a women in knee high black boots and dressed to catch a wolf for just one night no names, no strings, no passion sex. What is a guy really supposed to do? Red Riding Hood was really wearing black and leading the wolf willingly down or up to the bed. A few days go by and Chelsea London the daughter of the owner of the team is going around and making sure everything is just for the function her father is throwing on behalf of the team. He is also introducing her brother in a new job that she was hoping she would have gotten, but then she would not have had a great night the other night. While organizing the staff with her trusty clipboard she hears her name and her father introduces her to the newest member of the team Bret Sillinger. Brett shakes her hand and realizes he has slept with the owner’s daughter and wants to again, why he is in trouble. She on the other is shocked yet terrified and is hoping not to make a fool of herself. Here you have the beginnings of a wonderful story and two people that are trying to find their own identity while dealing with all that is going on around them, and then deciding what they really want. A very good story, with good characters.

This was such a good read! This was a first for me from this author, and the writing grabbed me from the start. Brett and Chelsea were great together, and I loved their chemistry! I thought Brett was a good guy. Even though he had a penchant for getting into trouble, he seemed like he was looking for something long term. Chelsea was looking for something short and sweet, but I was so glad when she realized that she could have it all with Brett. It was hard watching them go through the ups and downs of their relationship, but the ending was great. The only thing I would have liked would have been an epilogue. I love getting a look into the characters futures. I will definitely be reading whatever comes next from this author!

Typical story about a good girl who tries to be bad by having a one night stand with a bad boy.
And guess what happens next??? Yep - bad boy is now traded to the team she works for. Honestly, I felt this book was a bit too predictable, therefore, I was not able to get into it. I stopped reading it around the 40% mark.

This is my first book by this author.

Brett Sillinger has one goal and one goal only, to focus on hockey. With his career on the line, the last thing Brett needs is trouble. But when trouble shows up at the hotel bar in a sweater, skinny jeans, and black thigh high stiletto boots....his body overrides his mind. Even more perfect is the fact that this stunning beauty is offering him a night of no-strings attached, no names s*x. Imagine his surprise when he walks into a charity event and is introduced to Chelsea, his new coach's daughter.

Chelsea London has always been the girl with the clipboard, the one with lists, the responsible one. When her brother is promoted to the job she thought she so desperately wanted, she was livid. She was done being the good girl! She set her sites on the only guy in the bar not in a suit. One thing led to another and she left after experiencing the best night of her life. Not thinking she'd ever see her man in the leather jacket again.

When one night turns into two, then more they are left wondering if what they have is the real thing. Brett's ex, his career, and his boss all seem to be against him. So much so that he actually begins to believe his mom's words from long ago....he's cursed! Both scared, they push each other away when things get difficult. Do fairy tales come true?

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this novel!!! I read it in one sitting, not even stopping to eat. This is my first Taryn Leigh Taylor novel and was delightfully surprised I found a wonderful new author to enjoy. The story flowed easily and didn't leave me guessing. I absolutely adored the good girl trying to be bad interlaced with the Big Bad Wolf and Three Little Pigs references! Too "cute". I can't wait to find out what lays ahead for the rest of the team. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

4 1/2 STARS!

Sexy steamy goodness! Not only does Taryn Leigh Taylor's latest bring us a boatload of sexual chemistry, but tug after tug on our heartstrings as well! Really enjoyed following Brett and Chelsea towards their happily-ever-after! Great characters, well developed story line, and lots of life moments to be shared by all.

Hockey star Brett Sillinger had the misfortune of watching his private life implode in front of the press and found himself without a team. Luckily the Montana Wolfpack organization decides to take a chance on him, but he's under strict orders to keep his private life in order ... or else! He promises to be on the straight and narrow, but when sex on heels walks into the bar, all bets are off!

Chelsea London has lived her life following the rules and what does she have to show for it? Years wasted on a man who never deserved her, passed over for her dream job promotion, and she's had enough! She's going looking for slam-me-against-the-wall hot and steamy action for one night of debauchery! When it turns out her one night of fun is the latest addition to her dad's hockey team, well, one night just might not be enough after all!

TAKING A SHOT is the first book in Taryn Leigh Taylor's "Montana Wolfpack" series about delicious hockey hotties. This story starts out with a good girl looking for a bad boy. Event Director Chelsea London and pro hockey player, and team newbie, Brett Sillinger turn out to be much more than their sexy fantasy personas. Having been burned in the past by family and exes, Chelsea and Brett have different ways of reacting to rejection. Chelsea is looking for an escape -- from who she is, and from the pressures in her life. Brett is looking for something real after experiencing some career twists and an ex-wife who was incredibly shallow. These two characters are flawed but reading about their path to happiness makes an entertaining story. Readers who love lots of background info on the main character should check out PLAYING DIRTY, which is about Brett's older half-sister Lainey and gives a little insight into Brett's family dynamic.

I usually relate more, as well as sympathize, with the heroine in a romance story, but Brett is the star of this book for me. Chelsea has a lot of understandable hang-ups and issues she has to work through. Brett learned a few things about life after getting a taste of sports stardom as a young man. The lessons he learned have given Brett a maturity while still keeping him a sensitive soul at heart. Taryn Leigh Taylor packs a lot of spicy scenes in TAKING A SHOT while also revealing different layers to her main characters and providing emotional depth as well. I love how Brett tries to provide a safe place for Chelsea in the hope that she lets herself be vulnerable with him. Chelsea unconsciously tries to sabotage her burgeoning romantic relationship, but Brett hangs in there and she eventually realizes her mistakes and handles her business with the strength and smarts Brett loves about her.

TAKING A SHOT is a super sexy hockey romance with substance and a hero you'll fall for. The hockey players in this book are drop-dead-gorgeous, strong, often underestimated, and support each other when things get tough. With so many books centered around strong female friendships, it's nice to see a series built around a diverse group of guys who look good but are also more than meets the eye. I look forward to reading Taryn Leigh Taylor's next "Montana Wolfpack" romance.

I loved Chelsea's character. Her tendency toward overcompensation ("'I made breakfast.' So. Much. Breakfast." LOL, yes she did...) and babbling when nervous paired with her desire to be a "bad girl" when she's really anything but was endearing. Brett was the perfect hero for her, and their back-and-forth conversation had me LOLing over and over again. And their chemistry? Spot on!

Add in hockey, and really, what more can you want?

Brett's the younger brother of a character from an earlier book by Ms. Taylor (Lainie from Playing Dirty ), which I not only added to my TBR but picked up a copy of before I was much past the 50% mark. So though this was my first book from this author, it definitely won't be my last!

I'd never heard of this author before, but she asked for ARC readers in one of the Facebook groups I'm in and I thought I would give it a try. I was actually surprised by the book!

The first thing I noticed about the book is actually something somewhat detrimental to it. There were references that this book was part of a larger universe that had been written previously. For someone as OCD about series as I am, this meant that, in my mind, this was not a stand alone book, and I needed to go find those previous books before I could fully enjoy this one. Unfortunately, I had already started it, and knew I had to get it done on a schedule, so I stuck it out and read the book, but it was an annoyance for me.

All that being said, once I pushed past the annoyance, I actually really enjoyed the book! There was plenty of sizzle between Brett and Chelsea, and while the romance moved quickly, the readers weren't really short changed because of it. I loved how Chelsea found the courage to stand up for herself and her relationship with Brett to those she loved, and how they eventually came around to her side of things. Brett was a great character, and I loved that some of his depth of character was explored. It's not something you see often in a sports romance book!

I must say that this is a good introduction to the author's work! It's made me interested in seeking out her other works to find out what the whole story is!

Hot! Hot! Hot! This was such an excellent story. It was so deliciously, sexy and super off the charts-Scorching-Hot, but more than that, I loved the flirty fun vibe it had going on. It was really entertaining, so incredibly sweet, had a bit of drama and some emotional moments. I had so much fun reading it, and I could not put this down.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching them connect, and there were so many great details and moments that just filled me up. I laughed, I smiled, and I sighed throughout the book as Chelsea and Brett’s relationship grew. I was expecting Brett to be this player of a man, but who I got was so incredibly kind, caring and sweet.
I love a great Romance and this delivered from the first page to the last. I’m absolutely smitten with every little detail that makes up this story! LOVED IT! #Swoon!
