I have to admit that I am a sucker when it comes to stories about cats. I'm also a sucker for holiday stories so this book ticked two very large boxes for me. I was utterly charmed by Homer and this heart-warming tale. It took awhile to get to it on my list because of health issues but it was the right book at the right time. Charmed really is the best word to describe my overall response to the story.

I love animals and have for years rescued, neuter/spayed, found homes for them. It has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. So when I found this book about a blind rescue kitty I knew in my heart I wanted to read it. I had not read the other book about the feline protagonist but that is going to change soon. This is a delightful story about a cat named Homer. He lost his sight and his family was told that IF he survived his quality of life would not be good. However, Homer showed them. He has figured out where everything is in HIS home and he chased off a burglar one night. and became an overnight sensation. Now, many other animals with disabilities are being adopted. This is certainly a heartwarming story about love between a human and her feline companion and hoe love keeps them together.

Thank you to netgalley as well as the author/publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

All the stars! I just loved this sweet book. We have two black cats. Neither is blind but I developed a long-distance- heartfelt bond with Homer when I read the previous book, My Life in a Cat House by Gwen last year. That book went right on my favorites shelf on GoodReads as soon as I finished it. Homer is quite something and I now follow him on Instagram. Always puts a smile on my face. Homer has a lot of challenges... but you would not know it. I am smitten with him.

Gwen Cooper is a favorite author of mine by now. I intend to all of her books. She knows cats. I know cats too. My husband and I have been in cat rescue for a long time. She is the real deal. I love homer so much. I highly recommend this book to all cat lovers. Homer does not let his blindness affect him whatsoever. I love his spirit. Gwen captures it perfectly. This book is a real joy to read.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and Gwen Cooper for a digital copy to read for review. I know all cat lovers will love it!

Homer's story continues. It has been years since the vet gave him a short prognosis, but, once again, it seems like Homer's days are coming to an end. Read this heartwarming tale, but keep tissues handy.

Ahhh! What a sweet story! Homer is one wonderful kitty- reminds me of my big boy! Vets, like doctors, aren't God. They make diagnosis based on their experience and education. And it can sometimes be wrong. I am glad Gwen had more time with her baby. The furry kids should all live to be at least 30. 40 would be even better. Great story.

What a sweet short story for the holiday season. It has a touching message that relates to both Hanukkah and Christmas about a tough kitty with an amazing spirit. This is perfect for the cat fan that is super busy during the holiday season but still wants to take a moment to reflect on the miracles that are the reason we celebrate this time of year.

I have enjoyed all the books about Homer and this one especially touched my heart because my cat was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. If you have loved reading about Homer, you will like this short novella also. Have the tissues handy.

While being cute, it was a tad too short and you really need the tissues at the end of this one. It whets my whistle for the full Homer book, which I will be picking up/ordering when my store is open after the holiday. He sounds like an amazing cat and I want to learn more about him. Even though I'm probably going to cry throughout a good portion of it. My loss is still fresh in my mind, if not in time, so it may not be an easy read for me, but I want to try.

3 solid stars. I was disappointed with the short length and I was expecting a more happy ending. The ending was spun as happy, and it could have gone a LOT worse, but it was still sad to me.

My thanks to NetGalley and BenBella Books for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

I loved reading about Homer in Gwen Cooper's first book and I was just as charmed by him in this book. It's obvious that Gwen adores her cats, like any other cat owner. It's a moving Christmas story and everyone who loves cats or just wants to read a lovely Christmas story, read this!

eARC from NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own.

In no way can I fault this! I sped through this beauty, I could feel Gwen’s emotions so deep within her writing, her love for Homer Bear, and his siblings, and could picture all their kooky and adorable actions as Gwen described Homer gobbling down a chicken breast, to his playing with Clayton; to comforting Gwen when she was devastated about Homer’s prognosis, and so much more! It was just amazing having this slice of Gwen and Homer’s life, I couldn’t get enough!

It’s the perfect festive read, but, truly, it’s soul food! This is just such a gorgeous and uplifting and emotive read, perfect for all cat lovers or anyone who loves a quick but inpactful story!

I wanted to read this book because years ago I read about Homer when he was just getting a home and I wanted to see how his story went. What I did not realize was that there had been a book in between and now I need to go back and read that. :) This was a very very short book but what it lacked in quantity, it made up for in quality. I have two very simple rules for a 5 star review...it has to make me cry or it has to make me laugh out loud. In it's brief time in my life, this book made me do both. Although it made me cry so bad I couldn't breathe, I loved the book. It was a very "Homer" ending.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Is there anyone out there who doesn’t love Homer? I cannot conceive of such a human or kitty. His mom Gwen turned him into a major celebrity when she wrote her first book about how a plucky and brave blind house panther took on the world and won. He defied the odds so often and lived a full and rich life.
But, as it comes to all of us, fate would not let him live forever. His descent was abrupt. One day he fainted and when the vet told his parents the bad news, they also said according to the results of his tests, he should not have been alive. They were told the end was inevitable and it would be soon, within days. They were devastated, Everyone figured Homer was down for the count this time.
That is except Homer. Whether it was the battle royale that he pitched with the three full sized humans when they were trying to take care of him at the vets that brought out the fighting spirit no one will ever know. But when Gwen brought him home -everyone agreeing he would not be happy staying at the vet- she began what she believed to be his death watch.
Like the Chanukah candles, Homer’s light would not be extinguished. He not only survived those days immediately after his diagnosis, he made it through the Holidays and then some. Of course, there was a finite time that he could beat the odds but for nine miraculous months, he enjoyed his life and brought happiness to all who knew and loved him.
Be warned, as with her other books, there will be a few leaky eyes as well as some loud guffaws.. It is a moving story told with such love. A reader would need a heart of stone to not be touched. It is a wonderful tale both for the holidays and any time.
Five purrs and two paws up. I wish I had know you Homer.

An uplifting story about a blind cat. He fights the odds and lives a good life.
If you've ever loved a pet, you'll love the insights that humans can gleam from this story.

I received an ARC from Netgalley and am thankful to the writer and Netgalley.

These are my own unsolicited opinions.

Homer and the Holiday Miracle is a short story about a cat named Homer. He’s a 15-year-old rescue cat who has no eyes, due to having lost them to an infection when he was three weeks old. That hasn’t stopped Homer though! His blindness doesn’t seem to impair this spunky cat one bit! When he falls sick and is taken to the vet, his owner, Gwen, is told that his blood test numbers are “incompatible with life” and that he doesn’t have long to live. Homer proves them all wrong though! His holiday miracle will have you alternately cheering and crying. If you haven’t read any of her other books, Gwen Cooper has written about Homer previously in Homer’s Odyssey, where you can learn more about this amazing little cat! She has several other cat books, and I recommend them all. They all make great reading for cat lovers. If you are a cat lover looking for a short and uplifting story for the holidays, get Homer and the Holiday Miracle. If I could give it more than five stars, I would.

I received this book "Homer and the Holiday Miracle" from NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own. I guess there are other books about Homer. I have not read any of them. I enjoy books about animals and this one was good. It was a fast read. Homer was awesome. Beautiful story and I hope to read the other books.

I always love books about people and animals who beat the odds. This is one of them. Adorable Homer shows them that he has another life left in him. Being blind has never slowed him down.
Great for the cat lovers on your gift list.
