I was lucky enough to receive a free copy by of this book via netgalley! Very informative and useful!
I'm interested in the debate about the relation of science and faith so was interested in this book. I mistakenly thought it might be along the lines of other books by physicists Edgar Andrews and John Polkinghorne or astrophysicist Hugh Ross but I'm afraid I'd place Callender's book in the fringe category.
The book is a fusion of visionary and mystic experiences, eastern mysticism, Near Death Experiences, Autobiography of a Yogi, the Book of Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints) and the Christian Bible. He seems to places all those on the same footing without questioning their differences and relies alot on his own personal epiphany (Callender practises transcendental meditation).
I've given the book one mark for the author's obvious enthusiasm for his topic and one mark for his grasp of physics. After this I'm afraid it fell away for me as the book makes unwarranted leaps in logic and while there is a good grasp of physics there is a far less good grasp on Biblical exposition.
I'm sure others will like this but it is just too fringe for me. I'm all for learning from other's experiences and views but I feel the author does this without an adequate interpretational framework, in my opinion.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing a digital copy for review purposes.
