This book comes in two parts. The first part is a perfect introduction to cocktail making explaining the ingredients, types of glasses and methods to mix cocktails. The second half is then when the cocktail recipes appear, there are some wonderful recipes inspired by Lewis Carrol's masterpiece. This is perfect for cocktail and Alice in wonderland enthusiasts alike.
Who doesn't love a book about drinks and Alice in Wonderland... I loved looking at this book and every adult Alice fan should check it out! http://fkrants.blogspot.com/2018/09/drink-me.html
Drink Me! by Nick Perry and Paul Rosser is a well-designed and fun cocktail book which features unique whimsically-named drinks inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The recipes are easy to follow, and the book is perfect for both beginners and experts alike.
I know nothing about making cocktails but I love drinking them so this book was perfect for me. I love the attention to detail. The pages are beautifully vibrant with lovely colours that do not distract from the writing but instead nicely enhances it.
The book is helpfully divided into three parts: Introduction, Cocktails, and Batch Recipes. The thorough but brief introduction gives readers useful information on the various techniques in drink-making as well as the tools and glassware to use for constructing cocktails. I particularly like the segment on popular spirits and liqueurs which is perfect for people who are new to the world of alcohol. The descriptions are succinct and easy to read. There are also cute artistic renderings of bar equipment and glassware which adds a fun touch to the descriptions.
The unique cocktails feature unusual ingredients like rosemary and salt syrup and pancetta. I love their whimsical names like Curiouser and Curaçao and Beware the Jabberwocky. Although the cocktails seem complicated, the single-serving recipes are easy to follow. I like the quotes and brief explanations before each drink which shows how the cocktail is inspired by Alice while also providing an indication of the taste.
The final segment of the book features more fun and simple recipes so that readers can create homemade syrups, spirits, liqueurs and much more to use in their cocktail-making.
Although the book features lovely Alice in Wonderland related artwork, I wish pictures of the actual drinks were included. I want to see what the finished cocktails should look like.
Drink Me! is a beautifully designed and unique cocktail book. I would definitely purchase a copy for myself. This book would be perfect for the Alice in Wonderland fans or the mixologists in your life. Or, pick up a copy for yourself and be the mixologist at your own fabulous Wonderland themed party!
I received a free e-copy of Drink Me: Curious Cocktails from Wonderland by Nick Perry from NetGalley for my honest review. An absolutely adorable and fun book cocktails and more. Such a fresh and fun spin on just the average cocktail book. This is a book full of fun and fanciful cocktails sure to please anyone.
I was really impressed with the lengths Nick Perry went to to explain techniques involved in making a cocktail. Examples, shaking, stirring, straining, layering, building, fat washing, infusion and even rimming.
I loved the stories and the drink names being based off the book, Alice In Wonderland". A gem of a book that should be treasured by all.
Great book! Lots of Alice in Wonderland themed cocktails, plus some great illustrations. This would be perfect for hosting a themed party.... I can't wait to try some of them out!
I wanted to read this book based on my love of Lewis Carroll. The stories of Alice are a mesmerising mix of madness and fantasy. What better subject to launch the imagination into making cocktails.
Not that fancy elaboration fruit and umbrella laden drinks is my bag. I love my craft beer and neat spirits to be fair but like I say the oblique link to a special world was irresistible.
The book is simply a delight. Beautifully illustrated and with a obvious passion for creating new cocktails and spreading the word with evangelistic zeal.
It opens up the world of cocktails and the art of bartending at home into everyone’s orbit.
The introduction starts from basics, the techniques and equipment needed. The root ingredients and the simple tools, glasses needed to set the drinks off.
The.each cocktail is introduced. The inspiration for it and why certain flavours were sought and used. A simple recipe is given to make this new creation.
Finally building on your confidence in this process the authors take you through making your own syrups, liqueurs and infused spirits. All these items can be bought but with encouragement you can make your own and experiment in your own fashion as your palate and taste awareness grows and matures. In the process learning what goes with what how to experiment and use clever creative arts like making puréed, juices and fat washed spirits you. Building your own pantry and laboratory to allow your own imagination to fly, grow and disappear down any rabbit hole of your mind.
I like the many cross references to where the batches you are encouraged to make for yourself with their Alice inspired cocktails.
This allows for a cheaper method, more fun and ultimately knowing what goes well together the chance to explore and indulge your creative juices.
A pleasant winner of a book suitable if I enjoyed it for anyone who likes a tipple. A perfect gift item.

The book contains a creative collection of cocktails with the techniques to use and the full easy to follow the recipe. The recipes are divided by the different themes inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I suggested this book for a themed party or for this year Halloween's party.
The minute I saw this book up on NetGalley I knew I had to get my greedy little paws on it. I adore all things ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and I love to drink (lol), seriously though, I do love trying new and unusual cocktails. Combine that with my love for reading, and well, I am undoubtedly going to be intrigued!
First off this book is just fun to look at. It is full of colorful illustrations, hand-drawn art, and eye-catching fonts. The book is broken up into three parts with each part broken down into the following chapters...
PART ONE -- Introduction, Spirits and Liqueurs, Techniques, Garnishing Techniques, Equipment and Tools, Glassware.
PART TWO -- Cocktails.
PART THREE -- Batch Recipes, Syrups, Liqueurs, Infused Spirits, Puree and Juices, Fat-Washed Spirits, Dehydrating Fruit for Garnish.
The recipes are easy to follow and include all the measurements to create a single cocktail. Each recipe also includes a quote and a little bit of information about what inspired the creation of the cocktail.
Here are just a few of the whimsical cocktails that you will find in this book...
-- Off with Her Head
-- White Rabbit (This one was my favorite. It was like a dessert in a cocktail glass).
--Curiouser and Curaçao
-- Pig and Pepper
-- Cup of Mad Tea
-- The Queen’s Tart
-- Dirty Oyster Martini
-- Un-BirthdayCake Martini (Another fave of mine!)
This was simply a FUN book with a delightful layout and whimsical cocktails. I will definitely be adding the physical book to my ever-growing cookbook collection the minute it is released. I would recommend this one to anyone who loves literature themed cookbooks, as well as anyone who is an Alice In Wonderland fan.
Alice in Wonderland never had it so good! Although this is principally a recipe book, the Alice in Wonderland theme runs through it. I enjoyed reading the book, tried a couple of the recipes, and promptly took the theme on the road to all of my friend's houses. So far, I've not found anyone who was not impressed with the recipes or the book itself. Great idea. What's the next theme? Maybe Harry Potter?
If mixing drinks and Alice in Wonderland are your thing, author Nick Perry has a book for you. The new book Drink Me: Curious Cocktails From Wonderland is loaded with 20 cocktail recipes for your Mad Tea Party and the how-to in order to make it happen. The book includes small illustrations, images of the drinks, and even recipes for the specialized booze many call for. If vanilla frosting vodka or specialty flavored rums sound good to your palate, you've come to the right place for sure.
Drink Me is fun and makes sure to keep in line with it's theme. Each recipe ties into Alice in Wonderland and has a description. This was a fun book, and the recipes are definitely original.
Drink Me is available from Quarto Publishing on September 18th.
Real talk, I want to drink every cocktail in this book. Alice in Wonderland and cocktails are a match made in heaven. The creators have done a wonderful job blending the story and characters with real world ingredients.
This book would be great for amateur and seasoned bar tenders alike. Not only does it teach you some great techniques but also helps you experiment with flavours you wouldn't normally consider. The option to flavour your own liquors and creating tasty garnishes is also a plus. Not to mention the book itself is just beautiful. I can't wait to get my hands on a hard copy.
This is a magical book, it transports you to into a wonderland. There is brilliant illustrations and the descriptions make your mouth water. A delight for Alice in wonderland cocktail lovers
Such a fun book! As a fan of Alice in wonderland I think this is the perfect book for any fan. There are so many wonderful drinks in this book and one that really caught my eye was the un birthday cake martini it sounds delicious!
Drink Me! has 25 cocktail recipes all linked to the plot of Alice in Wonderland.
Each recipe comes with a brief explanation of how it relates to the Alice in Wonderland story. For example, the Unbirthday Cake Martini uses cake frosting-infused vodka, hazelnut and raspberry liqueurs, and pineapple and lemon juice. With the rainbow sprinkle topping, you will want to drink this martini on all 364 of your unbirthdays this year. Drink Me! also has recipes for creating the special infusions used in the book. I have never heard of a fat-washed infusion before but I can see its usefulness beyond the recipes in this book.
Drink Me! is such an innovative idea. I can’t wait to combine my love of exotic cocktails with my love of Alice in Wonderland by having a themed party on Halloween. A great book for amateur or profession bartenders but even better for Alice fans. 4 stars!
Thanks to the publisher, Rock Point, and NetGalley for an advance copy.
Thank you to Quarto books for an e-galley of this cocktail book for review!! The cocktails in Drink Me! are all very inventive and sound amazing. For me, they seemed very complicated and have a lot of steps though. Certainly a special occasion book! A reason to make a batch of wonderful and inventive syrups and buy liqueurs just for the drink. Would be lovely for a theme party! Available September 18, 2018
Who hasn't found themselves planning a party and searching for a new or different theme(hopefully, it isn't just me)? I could write a book(Ha) on planning drinks around rum(Mojito anyone?)or Jack Daniels(Hello Lynchburg Lemonade) or the ever popular Long Island Ice Tea(since I live on Long Island). However, I never thought about how certain books provide so much inspiration for food and beverages. Lucky for me, the authors did and wrote Drink Me, a terrific collection of curious cocktails inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
The book is divided into several sections that cover Spirits and Liqueurs, Techniques, Equipment and Tools, Cocktails, Batch Recipes and Additional Resources. If you haven't yet released your inner bartender(I've thrown more than my fair share of Adult Beverage parties), this guide covers all the basics. From descriptions of spirits to different types of ice and techniques such as shaking, layering or straining, as well as glassware and garnishes, everything is described in enough detail for a beginner.
Part II is all about the cocktails. My favorites(so far) are Off With Her Head, Drink Me, Curiouser and Curacao and the Caterpillar's Hookah. These were the four drinks I chose for my August gathering, and everyone loved the idea of this book and enjoyed the cocktails(can you say holiday gift). Since there are quite a few more curious cocktail recipes, this will be a go-to guide for quite a while.
The recipes are fun, though some of the ingredients take a little work(making cake frosting vodka or buttered toast rum for example), they delivered on taste and made for an interesting party theme. All my book-loving friends were coming up with cocktail ideas from lots of different books and we just had a great time with an adult beverage or two.
I received a DRC from Quarto Publishing Group-Rock Point through NetGalley.
Such a great book!
Drink Me! is a unique collection of cocktails that have all been inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The book has 20 cocktail recipes. The recipes are all really good, and this book works well as a regular cocktail book. There is also a list of the "most curious cocktail bars" you should visit, and the best ingredients to use with each recipe. The illustrations are also great!
*I received an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinon
This is a very cute book full of whimsical drink recipes. This is not only perfect for Alice in Wonderland fans but beginners in cocktail making. I like how the author explains the different liquors, techniques, and glasses used at the start of the book. Each drink is perfectly crafted to fit a section of the story. The Caterpillar's Hookah is a family image and a scotch based drink captures the essence of the character. The Cup of Mad Tea certainly sounds like a cocktail that will have you feeling mad yourself after one glass.
Super fun and I especially loved the section on syrups. What a wonderful way to infuse flavor in a favorite cocktail!
This cocktail book outlines techniques, tools, recipes for syrups and purees, and of course, cocktail concoctions. The recipes for the drinks could be served at the Mad Hatter's tea party or at an Alice in Wonderland themed pop-up bar. Each recipes is clearly thought out and ties perfectly into the Lewis Carroll classic. It also has recipes for different skill levels (I admittedly did not know what 'fat washing" was until I read this book). The gorgeous graphic design is reminiscent of a 1st edition novel..Very specific and niche, I'm not sure how often the average reader will return to these recipes, but overall is a good read.
