Like a lot of the books that I pick to read it was the cover that drew me in, the cover is beautiful in a creepy way.

Mirabelle or Mira, has lived a sheltered life. She has lived with her two godmothers after her mother and father were killed when she was just a baby. Just before her sixteenth birthday Mira decides to run away to Beau Rivage, the place where her parents were killed. There she finds a little more than she's bargained for.

It took me only one day to finish it, for me that's good because I normally read slow. I loved the author's twist on the fairy tales. I got emerged in the book, became part of it.

This is one of my favorite retelling of fairy tales. The mix of mystery, fairy tales, and yes there was romance. It was fun guessing which character was from which fairy tale. The characters were great, I loved them all. The only thing I would say about it was the beginning was kind of slow for me, and the end was just the opposite, the end was fast.

Thank you to Netgalley and EgmontUSA for the advanced reading copy!

Mira has always led a sheltered life with her two godmothers. She knows her parents died when she was a baby, but she's never visited their graves. After repeatedly being told that she can't go to the town where she was born, Mira decides to take a trip on her own. In Beau Rivage, Mira meets a bevvy of teens all who seem to be familair to her and everyone is a little bit strange. As she makes friends and falls in love, she discovers secrets about them and herself that she never thought could be true. As things take a deadly turn, Mira realizes she needs her new friends more than she thought and that sometimes fairy tales aren't all they're cracked up to be. A modern take on fairy tales.

Mystery thrillers are my favorite, so I obviously was a bit biased here. One of the things I love so much about thrillers is they move quickly and don't lag, which drives me nuts! I found this to be a little slow at times, but nothing too bad that made me DNF it. I thought the characters were really well written, and it had a killer ending which I love in suspense novels!
