This is my first book by this author and I’m not exactly sure how to review it. I’m not sure why this fell flat with me as i enjoy MFM stories. I don’t know if it was the brothers or the abduction part but something just held me back from liking it.
I was able to receive this book through NetGalley. Everly is a single pregnant woman trying to live her life as best she could. She has had bad luck in her past. Her family was part of a cult. She was allowed to leave as long as she never came back. Then when she was in college she met a man who was a jerk leaving her pregnant and alone.
In her new life she found two strong men who intrigued her but knew they had to be trouble. She never knew or thought they knew each other. She finds out they were brothers when they hold her captive as their lover. I'm happy Everly was able to submit to them. If they hadn't kidnapped her she would have remembered she already did care for them.
have never read from this author before and the book cover is crazy hot! I do have to say that I did find myself skipping pages. It was a very very slow start for me. The middle was a little better. It just seem to drag. The potential was there to be a good book, but it was lacking something. I really just can't put my finger on it. Maybe a prologue? Allowing us to see where she came from and what she dealt with. Also, allowing us to see Zane and Reid's perspective beforehand as well. It just needed more.
I received this ARC from the publisher at my request via Net Galley for an honest review. The opinions written are solely my own. Thank you Net Galley!!
Unfortunately, I was not able to finish this book. This is my first book by this author and I don't think her style is my cup of tea. I like MFM menage romances, but I wasn't expecting what I got. A pregnant, lonely, former child from a polygamist cult, Everly has been abducted by two men who were acquaintances. At the part I was unable to go on, she currently hates them for kidnapping her. I had to stop when they both raped her. I did not expect that at all. I don't consider this book "full of sweetness" or "non-consensual". It is much darker than I expected and I don't like to read about rape. I think the blurb should have been more clear, because I wouldn't have read it if I had known what to expect.
I bit more involved and unexpected that I thought it might be. I thought the characters were interesting and I liked the story. I had not read other works from this author and was pleasantly surprised.
I received a free ARC version of the book in exchange for a honest review. All critiques and opinions are my own.
The book starts out a little difficult to read. Something is wrong with the sentence and paragraph structure that makes it hard to get immersed in the story. Eventually it gets fixed. The book also feels like a outline of an actual sorry. I feel like it could have been expanded alot.
Anyway. On to the story itself. The book starts out kinda creepy. Everly is a young that just changed towns and schools (goes to night school while she works). She also is pregnant and her ex is a complete and utter ass.
You get the feeling early on that she is being stalked. Which is extremely extremely creepy. Withoutbspoiling too much, I knew what was going to happen to her and I still feel Stockholm syndrome played a large part of this novel.
The novel was overall good. Not something I would normally read but not bad at all. And that's due to the stalker aspect not the menage aspect. That part of the book was steamy and well written. So, would I recommend this book to someone? Yes, if they like menage and if I warn them about the kidnapping/stalker situation. That can be a trigger for some people. No one's hurt but readers should still know.
However, the description of the book does a good job of warning people just in case
This was a good romance. I really liked the brothers. I am glad she decided to stay with them. I would recommend this author.
Everly has escaped a life in a cult, and now she has been abducted by two gorgeous brothers who want her as their own. The thing is though that these two guys though they have captured her and forced her to be theirs, due to her upbringing she is open to the idea. In Back to Black, we read as Everly is pregnant- not sure to which brother though. The two brothers Reid and Zane are busy trying to outwit the other as they both want her to love the other more. Can they work together in harmony or will Everly threaten to leave them? This was a quick read, and I have to admit at moments - I was a little unsure how her relationship was with the brothers, but it seemed to work. I did love the kiwi reference in there of Xena the Warrior Princess as being from New Zealand myself this made me smile. For those who don't know Xena was filmed in New Zealand. I also loved the epilogue with her father involved. This made me smile as it showed deep down he did weirdly care for his daughter. For those wanting a quick read, check out Back to Black by Katerina Winters.
Damn, i love this book !
I need more from this author.
Literally could not put it down !
I will definitely be buying more books from this author in the future
I was really excited to start this book. I love a good menage romance storyline and Katerina Winters is a new author for me, so I was excited to try someone new.
However, the synopsis for this book was a little misleading. I thought it was going to be a true menage/romance book between a pregnant young girl and two brothers. However, it played out way different than that! I found the storyline to be a little bit creepy and not at all sexy!
Back to Black, is a good book for people with a kidnapping fantasy. I just wish there had been more of the book where Everly actually wanted to be with her men. Most of it was spent with Zane and Reid showing and telling her how much the love her and Everly trying to get away from them. Only the last chapter shows them all together happily.
