The book is fairly short but still really well written. Amazon lists it at 144 pages. I usually prefer my books longer. As a warning (I think this should always be told as a warning if it's in the book) this book may have some triggers (rape, violence). Nothing is too graphic but you have the warning.
The main character, Alana, is going through a lot right now. Especially with her marriage. Minor spoiler alert: it's falling apart. Her husband is more then kinda an ass and she take drastic measures to keep her kids. Drastic. So drastic. Can't say that enough. Part of me was cheering from the sidelines while the another part wanted to lock her up. And her family and friends. Can't forget them. They need to be locked up too. For their safety. I think their intentions were good (for Alana) but it all goes terribly sideways. You would have to read the book to understand. And then you watch as her husband pulls some horrible things in the book. You begin to think that Alana never went far enough with her drastic plan.
And through all this chaos our girl manages to fall in love. I loved when she nicknamed him Captain hotness. However, I never really liked their relationship. It felt to fast and no rational person would really follow her plan. I say this as everyone close to her helps her. It makes no rational sense.
Would I recommend the book? Ive finished the book almost a week ago and am still indicisive. I don't know whether I even liked the book and that has never happened to me before. I want to cheer the main character on at the same time shake her for coming up with such a stupid stupid plan. Her plan honestly hurts my brain. It's a strange feeling. And I find her plan even worse when she has lawyers that are close to her that might have helped her with more rational plans. If you want to know what happens and see what I mean get the book. That's all I can say.
