I really enjoyed this story – it was genuinely funny and had me laughing and smiling throughout!

It is the perfect pick me up book and being a new mum (my daughter is 14 months old now) I am really looking forward to what is still to come and I feel a little more prepared now!!

It is very well written and I loved the flow the book had – it was very hard to put the book down! 4.5 stars from me rounded up to 5 stars for Goodreads and Amazon – very enjoyable and had me laughing out loud too!!

Oh the memories this book brought back! Having brought up three sons and now in the great position of having five grandchildren, I can laugh at the antics described and not have to worry about the repercussions ,if any, if the grandchildren put themselves in similar situations.

This book is the funniest thing I’ve read in ages! DO NOT read it in public, you’ll be laughing out loud.

I love Shari Low’s novels, and was really intrigued by the sound of this non-fiction book. It’s compiled from her weekly column, which started when her sons were small. Each chapter is short, and it’s impossible to put it down, I kept telling myself I’d just read one more!

She covers everything from pregnancy, birth, childhood illnesses, family holidays, Christmas, first day at school etc. All the major milestones and little everyday events are here, told with such humour and love. She really has such a gift of making the everyday absolutely hilarious.

I’d recommend this for every parent, it’s a light-hearted and funny look at life with children. I’ve already bought this book as Christmas presents for several people. Guaranteed to make you laugh and cry.

A collection of charming and amusing short stories which unveil the honest - and less hallmark card - side of parenting.
An enjoyable book to pick up when you have a few minutes spare, although personally I found they still felt like disparate blog/social media posts and were quite bitty to read.
However, if you need a quick anecdote to make you smile, this is the book for you!

Candid snapshots of life with children are popular at the moment, what makes this one different is that it is retrospective. A collection of thoughts that featured in the author's column at the time ranging from 2004 -2017. Some of the people and events mentioned will bring back memories and add entertainment value to these amusing anecdotes about parenting and being a working mum.

This book is a fun-filled read for all parents, and its innate honesty is part of its charm. Being the perfect mummy, while holding down a full-time job was a mantra in the nineties, and the first decade of the twenty-first century, thankfully this stereotype has been ousted in recent years by a more realistic view of parenting which this book certainly showcases.

It's worth reading because its funny, realistic, thought-provoking and poignant and given that many of the stories started in the early noughties a true original that has sparked the honest parenting blogs and books that currently are an important part of our culture.

I received a copy of this book from Head of Zeus via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Any woman who is about become a mother, already is a mother of any age children will find this book so true that at times the tears on my face were because of times when I have had same problems with my offspring
Every chapter covers another reason not to become a mother but makes me so glad I did. My own traumas involved a small child day 1 of holiday 'no running ....' Got no further before child did spectacular slide down the side of pool having banged his head on tiles and leaving trail of snot, tears and blood !
Every mother will relate to most of the things we say and do, like repeat our favourites from our parents speeches ' we only do it because we love you' or if you don't eat carrots you can't see in dark!
This book or rather this amazing author brought many memories back to me and for that I would like to thank her because I have remembered all the stuff mums say but know as a grandma I can cuddle and promise them hot chocolate with flake and mini marshmallows and popcorn when they had a bad day, as a mum got to do that about 5 times as was always to busy but now I am more chilled with lots of time so obviously I want to spoil my grandchildren
,if anyone has a problem with that I defer to book title because mummy said so!!

After having reviewed With or Without You which I really liked, I was eager to see what Because Mummy Said So would be like. It's a rollercoaster ride of honesty quirkiness and realistic moments about Shari's life with her 2 boys. It's hilarious on more than one occasion and I found myself wholeheartedly agreeing with Shari's reference to learning medical knowledge from ER as that's what I found I did.

Shari Low has a truthful, chatty and friendly yet laid-back writing style that seems to naturally flow between the pages of this book which can be described as a manual for mothers. I'm not a mum myself yet and see the value in this book for mums-to-be who may be looking for the experience of someone who already has children. The cover is very fun and eye-catching.

Thanks to Shari Low and Aria for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review as well as a slot on the blog tour for this title. I am looking forward to the blog tours for future books by Shari Low.

"Because Mummy Said So" is close to life, painfully realistic and hilarious read. It is a compilation of short essays the author has written for her column and they tell us about life with two young boys, about being family - in a very realistic and brutally honest way. Oh yes, Shari Low really tells how it is - that life with young children can be very, very embarrassing but she also shows the soft side of such life, of being a part of family and how richer and fuller your life becomes when the children arrive.

I am also a mum and I've also experienced many, many embarrassing moments with my daughter so I could really relate to those essays. However, I don't know if it's because Shari Low is a writer that she can simply better notice such situations or her boys are much more accident prone than my daughter because I can't remember SO many embarrassing situations in my life.

I could really relate to this book and often identify with it. Some of the stories were funny however some were a bit hit or miss for me, and some felt a bit too overdone but altogether it was a nutshell manual of how it is to be a parent nowadays. The writing style is light and engaging and funny. I would recommend it if you're a parent and in need of a good laugh and to see that you're not alone. Refreshing and eye - opening, showing that the era of perfect mothers is truly and really over - hallelujah!

I’m a huge fan of Shari Low’s heartwarming, hilarious and addictive novels and I was really looking forward to reading Because Mummy Said So. A collection of warm and witty stories that will have you laughing, crying and cringing with shame, Because Mummy Said So is a fabulous book that makes the perfect gift for mothers everywhere.

In this age of celebrity glossies, reality shows and social media, we have grown used to looking at life through a filter. We seem to think that yummy mummies are the norm and that the rest of us are frantically playing catch up while they conquer the world, looking immaculate in their size 6 clothes with perfectly coiffed hair and manicured nails. However, in Because Mummy Said So, the fantastic Shari Low exposes what it’s truly like to be a mother in the twenty-first century and has written an honest, funny and realistic collection which documents the highs and lows of motherhood in all of its joyful yet agonizing glory.

Shari Low writes with great humour about what it’s like to have to tackle, amongst others, a never-ending laundry pile, chicken pox, nativity plays and being embarrassed by your kids in public on more than one occasion. There are terrific stories in this collection that mothers everywhere can relate to which will have them laughing out loud – and thanking their lucky stars if their kids are all grown up!

A wonderful read that is simply perfect for curling up with on a free afternoon or for dipping in and out of – especially if you have a little adventurer to keep out of trouble! – Because Mummy Said So is another terrific triumph from the gifted, funny and talented pen of Shari Low!

These parenting stories are completely relatable and laugh out loud funny. As a Yankee I got a bit confused by some of the British English sayings, which didn't bother me much, but I'm afraid would bother my patrons. I'll certainly recommend this book, but I don't think my boss will want to purchase it.

I seem to have no luck with books this week. *sighs* This one sounded perfect, and I do love books about parenting, especially the humorous ones. I have read quite a few of them, and was hoping this one would be one I would love and make me laugh (I could use some humour). Sadly, this one just didn't hold my attention. I got to about 30% before I called quits. The book and I just weren't going to be (best) friends.
I am not even sure if I can tell you what didn't mesh right, I will try though. The writing style didn't work for me. I guess she is trying to make things sound very funny, but at times it just seemed complainy/whiny. Things just seemed to go on endlessly while it would have been better with half the content.
Bonus points for the funny title, that was one of the things that made me want to try out this book. But the rest? No.
