A big thank you to NetGalley and Forever/Grand Central Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. This is book 5 in the Grizzlies Gone Wild series. Reads well as a stand alone. Dr. Cecilia Lu works for the CDC, and Hank Coleman kidnaps her to help discover a cure for the Detroit Flu. Things get crazy after that. Since she is a total geek who doesn't believe in shifters, she handles things amazingly well. Interesting, cute read. Pretty violent just a warning. There are unresolved issues as well. Overall I liked it. I rate it a 3.5.

4.5 stars. Loved this shifter book by Kathy Lyons/aka/Jade Lee. It has an interesting and involved back story with lots of shifter action, as well as a very sizzling and intense romance between Hank and Cecilia. I felt the connection between them right away and the romance and attraction between the couple was well written with lots of steamy 'slow burn' scenes throughout. I had no trouble picturing the events that took place and was fascinated at the whole mention of 'Zen', magic, control of the body, etc. Kathy writes this type of simmering romance extremely well.

A couple of my favourite lines :~ "His bear had bound itself to her" (sigh) - "Werewolves in Detroit, we expecting sparkly vampires next?" (LOL) The book is quite dramatic and fast paced with lots of suspense, yet focuses on the romance above all else. I have read three of the previous books in this series, but not Simon's book as yet. I feel this one can be read as a stand alone, however, I would probably recommend reading them in order for back-story continuation. I loved chapters 9 and 10. I don't give story spoilers, but if you like the idea of a hunky bear shifter - grappling with his bear and human side when it comes to Cecilia, the woman he bonds with the second he sees her - give this book a go. Thank you to NetGalley for gifting me an ARC. :)

I do not tend to get excited about shifter stories, but I like this author and decided to give Bound to the Bear a shot when I saw it was available on NetGalley. What I did not notice was that it was Book 5 in the series, but quite frankly, it didn't matter. Kathy Lyons was able to provide enough background information, without making it tedious, to make the book flow. It may possibly have been even better if I had read the previous books, and I may go back to do that now that I have read this one.

What I truly liked about this book, as compared to other books of this type, was that the author took us deep into the thoughts and emotions of the shifter. Hank really did not want to kidnap Dr. Cecilia Lu, but he knew it was necessary. Then, when his need for Cecilia became strong, he fought an inward battle to slow down his need to bond with her. Wow! Talk about sexual tension! I also loved Cecilia's personality. What a great character!

The fight scenes between the werewolves, hybrids and shifters was totally awesome!

Bound to the Bear by Kathy Lyons

5th book in the Grizzlies Gone Wild series. Paranormal romance on the darker, grittier side of the city. T can be read as a standalone.
Detroit has been hit with a flu virus that is making people crazy and many don’t survive. Cecilia is working for the CDC to try to stop the virus. The shifter world knows a bit more than the general public and Cecilia is brought into the secret world.

In this world, the whole shifter concept is from the mystical.
The magic itself prevents revealing shifters to the general public. Flu, electric problems, car accidents, whatever is needed to prevent the knowledge from spreading beyond their select community.

While I prefer more light weight paranormal, I really enjoyed the continuation of the Grissly series. The couples instant and powerful attraction to each other was sexy while harsh survival conditions created an edge to the story.

Excerpt of the lighter side:
“All three, hugging it out on the bed. Bear, hybrid and human. Hank rocked back on his heels in appreciation. Family unity in the scariest of situations. It never failed to steal his breath. “

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I’ve also purchased a copy.

Bound to the Bear was a really intriguing story that was more than just shifter finds mate. I was swept into the story with the science and the intrigue of the what ifs of the flu epidemic. Cecilia has a lot thrown at her in a very little amount of time. Time that she has not been sleeping or eating well. There is so much action going on and you really can’t guess what is on the next page. I loved how gentle Hank was and how hard he strived to stay that way. Even in the midst of everything going on. Did I mention that there is a lot going on? This story is packed. There are a lot of characters, a lot of action, and no stopping until the last page.

Bound by the bear by Kathy Lyons is the next book in her shifter series. Cecilia is a dr who works for the cdc. She is trying to figure out a cure for the Detroit flu. Hank is a bear shifter and needs Cecilia’s help finding a cure. So what does he do, he kidnaps her. At first she doesn’t want to help but finds herself attracted to the bear shifter. Now she will do anything to help find a cure while she falls in live with Hank!
Great story, action, adventure and romance. Cant wait for more by this awesome author!!

Cecilia works for the CDC in Atlanta but is in Detroit working on a flu. People are turning into animals and some are dying. Hank is a bear shifter and kidnaps the doctor and takes her to his Alpha. The only way to get her to believe in shifters is to show her. Cecilia is a science person and is intrigued when Hank shifts. Hank feels a connection to her and thinks she might be is mate but she doesn’t believe in magic but she is attracted to him too. Hank is protective and possessive of Cecilia and Hank calms Cecilia and brings her peace. But there are wolves out there that want her to work for them but when she declines, they lock her in a lab with the doctor who helped make the virus.
Will Hank be able to convince Cecilia of his love or will she think his feelings will pass in a couple of days?
Good story. Hank is a hunk and has to talk his bear into staying calm. Cecilia is smart and beautiful. Steamy, action, shifters, and crazy doctors.

LOVING this series. not a big fan of the kidnapping thing, but the problems with it were actually addressed/discussed in the book, and I really like that ("I shouldn't like you because you had no respect for my bodily autonomy and kidnapped me." "Yes, that was wrong, I should have handled things better, I don't blame you for being upset and I will keep all my body parts to myself to avoid further upsetting you.") Overall, excellent funness!

This book started out a little slow to me and honestly I had to make myself finish the first couple of chapters but I am really glad that I did.

I loved the book the science that was incorporated in the book kept me wondering about what what was to come and even had me googling what a couple of the things were.

The development of the relationship between Hank and Cecilia was fast paced and hot from start to finish. I loved the push and pull that they had between them throughout the book.

So this was an easy read, I feel like i would have benefited from reading the series, some things were not easy to piece together. I enjoyed their story, it was a tad flat at times but overall flowed well. There was no big pull for me in this story, the characters were simple, even with the backstory.

Bound to the Bear was a good story with interesting characters and an easy to follow plot. Unfortunately, I didn’t realise this was book 5 and was disappointed to have missed the earlier books in series. Overall a good read that will definitely appeal to shifter lovers everywhere.

People with even a slight chance of being a shifter are turning hybrid and aggressive, then die. What is causing this and how can it be stopped before any more die? Dr Cecilia Lu of the CDC is on the case until she gets kidnapped by a hunky hear shifter named Hank. She doesn't believe in shifters until Hank changes into his bear for her. Hank's bear knows that Cecilia is his mate but now does he convince her? He can't if the Detroit Flu is not stopped. Wolves break into the house that Mother has and she is the one who takes care of all the young shifters and is to be protected. The wolves with the Flu are killing machines that must be stopped and Hank has to stop it. Meanwhile, Cecilia finds some notes that prove someone is poisoning the water intentionally. Will they find an antidote and stop the spread of the Flu or will more die? Loved this book. Different take on shifters. It is sexy and there's always a HEA. I received this book from Net Galley and Grand Central Publishing for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.

I love me a good shifter romance novel. When I say good, I do not mean the rushed happily ever after, but the dilemma, the chemistry, the partnership and finally acceptance, a progression that is real.
This book offered me an insider's look into a shifter's world, in this case it's Hank. He's ex-military, black and has the composure of someone who has fought many battles. He's ordered to get in touch with Dr. Hayes, but when he gets to the CDC labs, he finds Dr. Cecilia Lu- she's also of Asian origin, and things take a drastic turn when he kidnaps her to make her see that shifters do exist and there's a catastrophe with the Detroit Flu that needs her medical wits to resolve.
I loved the diversity in characters and how each takes a lead in their own way. It made the story more upbeat. I also like the angle the author took by getting the reader into a shifter's mind, from the first transition to what happens years after.
The chemistry between the two was also great. Thanks NetGalley for the eARC.
