I loved this dragon shifter read. Finn and Delaney are great characters and the story is filled with drama and emotion. Finn may have not wanted to find his mate but perhaps Delaney is the one. The story really transports you in the shifter world and what will happen to these dragon shifters and their mates. I look forward to more.

*I received an ARC of this book free from the author.*

The Boss overlaps some of The Mate so if you haven't read it first then you may want to. I'd definitely suggest it.

Finn is leader of his enforcer team and he runs everything with strict protocols. He expects nothing less than the best from his dragons. But his world turns hectic with his brother, Fallon, at a mating ceremony, a disappearing dragon who he cannot catch, and a woman he's drawn too at the heart of the chaos surrounding his headquarters.

"Remind me to start donating to firemen. The deserve every damn penny."

Delaney has a stalker who keeps starting fires around her. She thinks she's losing her mind and a talk dark fireman seems to draw her every desire even in the middle of everything crazy going on around her. But she has to confide in someone and Finn, with is beautiful blue eyes, is it for her.

"I'm not ashamed, but you try being the focus of a bunch of horndog dragon shifters' overactive libidos."

Finn will break the rules to protect Delaney and his dragons adore her so much that they'll help. As for Delaney, dragons being real...just another crazy thing for her to accept. And oh how she does it with such grace. I love the way she handles them.

"Just tell me, Finn. It can't be worse than dragons."
He grimaced.
"Wait." The bottom fell out of her stomach. "It's worse than dragons?"

The Boss is suspense wrapped in sexual heat. It will keep you wondering what will happen next and have you cheering for Finn and Delaney at the same time. I cannot wait for the next book in the Fire's Edge series.

I love shifter romances, and dragons are one of my faves so I was very excited to read this one. I'm happy to say that it didn't disappoint in any way. In fact, it was even better than I was expecting. The story is original and the take on Dragon Sifters was something I hadn't seen before. The story line was full of excitement and emotional ups and downs. There is also a lot of fiery passion between characters who were complex and wonderfully written. This is one series that I'm going to continue reading.

Oh....my..gosh! I loved this book! It is so hard to find a really excellent dragon shifter book and this one is phenomenal! This is my first read by the author but you can be darned tootin’ I will be reading more. Ms. Owens created some very original mythology and back story for this clan of dragons. The sex was scorching hot and the build up to the event had me totally vested! I am looking forward to the next installment! 5 scaly stars!

The Fire’s Edge series is off to a great start, not only was the prequel fantastic but the first book is as well. This fiery romance engages readers from the very first page and holds their attention throughout with bold, convincing characters that are easily connected to and their romance is sweet, full of sizzling chemistry and emotional turmoil that is quite different from other issues that couples may face. The decision to risk one’s heart after all is one that readers everywhere can relate Finn’s reasons for his reluctance to act on the sparks burning between him and Delany is an especially traumatic one and really the situation Delany finds herself in would traumatize most, so this couple is one that readers really want to get their happily ever after.

The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of thrilling suspense, exciting between dragons and nail biting anticipation. The Mate and The Boss take place simultaneously, so the events that take place in the prequel affect the characters in this story, so readers get an overall picture of the political unrest that will upset the dragon world but since this story is longer and gives more detail of this fascinating world and of course readers are introduced more of the dragons that inhabit this world, the readers are better able to understand the world and some of the motivations of the characters. Once again, I was thrilled with the new world that has sexy dragon firefighters and unique mating elements that add danger, spice and tension to matings and makes for a fascinating read, so I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

THE BOSS is phenomenal. It is filled with a lot of awesome characters from the men in the Huracan Enforcers (Levi, Rivin, Keighan, Aidan, Hall, Drake, Kanta and Titus); a dragon sister Lyndi who comes in to explain a few things to the bewildered Delaney; a rogue dragon, Rune (that doesn't seem like a bad guy, just one not happy with the system); and a California State Fire Marshal named Deep, who is... yep ... a dragon. As a sucker for books with men who are teammates and/or family THE BOSS is filled with all that I love: the ribbing, teasing, joking have each others backs no matter what, and manage to fight like brothers to knock off the tension. Added to the mix is some intrigue that might involve one of Finn's own men, hints of danger to come, and surprises in the mates that could be found.

If you love dragons then you are really going to love THE BOSS with its sexy dragons, a romance that will keep you on your toes (and theirs), an intriguing storyline, bad guys that need taken down as only dragon's can, intermixed with humor and camaraderie.

Even dragon shifters deserve a second chance at love.
Finn Conleth has found his one true mate! Until the process to turn the woman he once thought was his, died. Carrying with him the memory of that horrible night, Finn decides to never risk his heart again. Now he spends all is time leading his team of enforcer dragon shifters with an iron fist and a cold heart.
Delaney Hamilton moves constantly to stay one step ahead of her past that she left behind. Now, her past may have caught up with her. When another suspicious fire erupts, she comes to realize that there was no escaping one’s past. That it was time to take a stand. But nothing says that she had to do it alone.
When Finn and his team got a call that a mysterious fire broke out, after gaging the damage he instantly knew another dragon triggered the damage. His suspensions were established when he encounters Delaney Hamilton and saw that there was something unusual about her.
The characters of Finn and Delaney was so suited to each other that even I cheered when Finn finally came to his senses to figure out that Delaney was his ONE TRUE MATE.
The Boss, a fast pace, paranormal romance, written by Abigail Owen. It was the cover that drew my focus to this book. However, it was the fantastic world that Abigail Owen created that had me staying up well after my bedtime, to complete the story.

Holy Dragon Love!!! OMG!!! I'm literally at a loss right now because this was soooooo freakin good!!!!! Hold on....I need to pull myself together....(sigh)

What a debut for a series! You know those shifter books that unfortunately only have the shifter shifting once, maybe twice the entire book? Yeah, that's not this book. This is jam packed with shifting, drama, lust, love, humor...geez...everything a PNR should consist of. Did I mention DRAGONS??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delaney has spent the last few years confused and running from a stalker. Why confused? Because every so often, she'll wake up in a random location surrounded by fire, not knowing how she got there. She actually thinks it's her stalker setting her up. But now after she's moved, again, she finds herself back in the same predicament. Only this time, there is a firefighter that she seems to trust for some reason. Someone she feels she can tell the truth of her past to. But why him? And why now?

Finn is the lead dragon to a special enforcer group tasked to basically keep rogue dragons from doing stupid things (I know, that was pretty bluntly described). Anyway, this enforcer group has a human cover of being hotspot firemen. So when a suspicious dragon caused fire at a winery appears on his radar, he finds himself saving a human woman. But he can tell that there's more than meets the eye. And since this involves his kind, it's his job to find out what it is.

I'm not even exaggerating when I say that I was turning these pages, non stop, not wanting to adult at all. The mystery of the fires, the stalker and the Delaney's true identity is so compelling that you almost forget you're reading a story. And then add in the fact that Finn has his own issues, but is trying his hardest to move forward. And these enforcers!!!!! LOVE THEM ALL!!! Even the ones that might be bad...but I digress.

The chemistry between Delaney and Finn is obviously hot. But the relationships Delaney builds with these enforcers is precious. And Delaney's friend! Oh my! Ok, I need to stop before I start giving the story away. Pick this up! You'll love it!!!

I gave it 3.5

With plenty of action and a nice pace, THE BOSS was a pleasant read.

A few things stuck out to me when I was done reading THE BOSS. I really enjoyed the authors take on the dragon shifters. I really enjoyed the job they perform and the way they work together. There was plenty of action in THE BOSS between the firefights and fighting the bad guys. The secondary characters brought a lot to the table and I want to know more about them.

A few things I didn't love. We were kinda thrown into things without a whole lot of background given. I would have liked to know more about the dragons and even Delaney. The romance between Delaney and Finn started off pretty fast, but I didn't necessarily FEEL their connection as fiercely as it was explained.

I would read more in this world and I wouldn't mind seeing the other dragons find their mates.

❤️❤️❤️❤️ out of 5
Dragons and firefighters, and dragon firefighters oh my! What an interesting take on dragon shifters and I’m kind of digging this new world being set up as this is book 1 in a new series.
.
Our heroine has been chased by a stalker and keeps finding herself in the middle of fires (presumably set by said stalker). When she wakes up in the middle of the latest one she gets dragged smack bang into a world of dragon shifters. Our hero and his crew pose as a hot shot fire crew to the human world that help put out fires created by other dragons as well as police them. When our hero meets the heroine he is instantly drawn to this human in ways he hasn’t allowed himself to be drawn to anyone in a long time.
.
The hero has a bit of a tortured background after having killed his prospective mate (I mean I would be too) so doesn’t want to let anyone get close. He holds out for a looooong time in denying what he feels for the heroine but when he gives in.... holy moly 🔥🔥🔥 (and those aren’t just because he breathes fire). I loved the camaraderie between the dragon crew even though with so many of them it was slightly overwhelming- there were enough differing personalities that I could kinda make my way through. Will definitely be continuing this series and can’t wait for the next one!

This was a good dragon shifter romance. The characters were well developed even the extra characters were not just here for filler. I also liked your set up for the next installment which I will be looking for.

The Dragon shifters are divided into clans by their colour but teams consisting of members from different clans work together as enforcers to ensure other dragons aren’t breaking laws or going rogue and starting fires. One such team, Fire’s Edge, is led by Finn Conleth and when they investigate a nearby fire they discover Delaney Hamilton endeavouring to put out the flames with a hose pipe. The young lady chooses to speak to Finn about her worries about fires and a stalker . . . and the adventure begins!

This is a fast paced story, where clans, teams and a rogue all have significant roles to play. I enjoyed the world building in this story and the well developed characters. The difficulties dragons have finding a mate are explained and the dangers of trying to change the wrong mate are fatal to the woman concerned. It is a different take on dragon shifter stories and I enjoyed escaping into it. This is the first story in a new series featuring Dragon shifters - though there is a free prequel currently available, The Mate. I haven’t read that yet because I only discovered it when endeavouring to post my review, but I have downloaded a copy ready to read! I’m looking forward to reading the prequel and will definitely be looking out for other books in this series in future!

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

The Boss by Abigail Owen is book One in the Fire's Edge series. This is the story of Finn Conleth and Delaney Hamilton.
Abigail moves to escape the fires that seem start around her. But when in this new town it happens again. Finn and his team are firefighters but are also dragons. Finn and his team work together to put out the fires that dragon sometimes start. During a fire he rescues Delaney but he finds that he is the one on fire with his feelings. 3 1/2 Stars

Intersting take on dragon shifters. I felt like some more of the background should have been explained a tad more. There was dragon fights and fire and alpha males just taking control. It was a good read overall. I would like to read the next to see which dragon would be next. There is a need for some more background info on the council and this king changing idea. The mate idea seems a tad archaic and not to the woman's favor.

Good read. Received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Finn is a dragon shifter and a firefighter. Who better to fight fires than a dragon shifter? He's the leader of the firefighter enforcers who are kind of like police for dragons in their territory. He's been hurt and even though he wants to find his destined mate, he's not willing to take a chance that the female might be killed in the process.

Delaney is running from a stalker as well as mysterious fires. So when she wakes up and yet another mysterious fire is blazing around her, she decides to take the help from the firefighters who saved her.

Finn doesn't want to get too close to Delaney because he's not willing to risk his heart or her life but the sparks fly between these two and it's hard for them to stay away from one another. Finn and Delaney get along right away, there was just this great chemistry between them. So it wasn't a huge leap when they couldn't keep their hands from one another.

Finn and his enforcers find out that a guy is stalking Delaney and putting her life as well as her friends life in danger so they step in to protect her even though they don't think she's a dragon mate. Finn is very protective of her and she gets along with all the enforcers and that's a good thing since she's staying at their headquarters while they track down the stalker.

While trying to find the stalker and keep her safe, a lot of information comes to light, a lot of twists happen and a couple interesting people pop up that I'm sure we'll be seeing in upcoming books. I found this story so much fun! What's more fun than a dragon shifter romance that makes you laugh at times? I had a great time with this and am looking forward to reading all of the enforcers books.

I read and reviewed this book before edits were made so my copy may be different from the one you read now.

Disclosure: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Dragon shifters that happen to be firefighters, jeez this book knows what I like!

This is a scorcher of a start to a new series.

Finn is a dragon shifter, his the top guy in his group of dragons. The group fight fires that are started by dragons.

Delaney is happy in her new start, when a minor disaster happens and another fire happens. This fire isn't good but it does bring her face to face with Finn and his group of firefighters.

I liked the sexual tension between Finn and Delaney. The relationship developed at a good pace and I grew to care about the pair of them and wanted them to have a happy ever after.

Danger, of course we have danger, there is the issue with mating the wrong partner - that doesn't end well, then there are there are the rogues that don't want to follow rules and the top brass dragons that rule over all the other dragons.

A must read for Dragon Shifter fans.

This is my first read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be looking out for more books in this series.

This was an excellent start to what will hopefully be a series with plenty of books! Firefighters, dragons, tough chicks, and some smutty goodness round out this fun and engaging read.

Finn is the leader of a group of elite dragon shifters, stationed and tasked with monitoring for rogue dragon fire and helping hide their race from humans. He has had a tough life, having thought he found his mate only to result in her death. Sure, he could blame the system for identifying mates (which is archaic and not always right) but instead he blames himself, swearing off women and especially any possible mates. Enter Delaney – a tough woman who has been on the run from a stalker ex who definitely has some more supernatural elements up his sleeve. She is also sort-of running from the inexplicable fires that seem to follow her during black-outs. After Finn’s people come in to fight a fire that has erupted near her, she finds herself drawn into their strangely comforting world of the unbelievable.

Obviously they immediately pin her as a possible dragon mate but things just don’t seem to add up. Either way, Finn and Delaney are drawn to one another. While there is some reluctance to give in, they ultimately make a really great team. All of the rest of the guys in the “crew” deserve a shout out, too, because I cannot wait until they all get their turn with mates. The writing was great and the world building had me begging for even more time there. This was a surprising and wonderful book that restored my faith in paranormal romance.

This was really good. I had a hard time making myself stop when I needed to. There's not much new going on here for a dragon series, but it was done in a great way. I did think it was kind of neat how these guys were kind of firefighters as a cover for what they really do. I never got frustrated or annoyed with any of the characters either, so that's always a plus. I really liked all of the characters too. There's some action, some humor, some mystery, and some really good heat. And of course, some really awesome dragons.

Finn and Delaney made a good couple. They just sort of meshed well together. And for once the immediate attraction they felt for each other because they are destined mates didn't bother me. I think that might be because Finn tried to fight it, and Delaney wasn't looking for a forever.

Finn comes with some emotional baggage that makes him a stern and controlled male. When a dragon mate is found, the male (dragon) breathes his fire into the mate (human) which would change her into a dragon. Or kill her if she was, in fact, not his destined mate. This tragedy happened to Finn and he continues to live with the pain of this, while vowing to never again try to mate a female. It hasn't been an issue until he meets Delaney. As soon as he sees her, he feels this overwhelming urge to protect and keep her. A feeling he doesn't understand and can't entertain. Delaney has lost everything in her life. A car accident took her parents and her younger brother and now everywhere she goes fires break out around her. Worse, she has a stalker that is determined to have her. She has fled her home to live and work at a vineyard in California. Unfortunately, her fire problem followed her there when she wakes up in the middle of the building while it's on fire with no idea how she got there. When Finn and his team show up to help contain it, Delaney is immediately taken with him and finds herself wanting to open up to him about her past.

The more she shares, the more Finn is certain that her stalker is a rogue dragon and he promises to protect her and catch him. One of the first things he does is move her in with him and the boys. I loved the group dynamic this team of shifters has. I especially liked Rivin and Keighan and so can't wait for them to get a book. Things become harder for Finn with Delaney that much closer and he just can't stop his reactions to her. But that's not the worst of it. The rogue after her is bold but smart. And it was only a matter of time before Delaney found out what him and the rest were. To her credit, after trying to run away and being stopped, she took it all quite well. Then comes the part of her maybe being a dragon mate but not showing all the signs. When the rogue kidnaps Delaney not once, but twice, Finn is forced to choose between what he really wants and what he is supposed to do. Let's just say he makes the right choice for him and it all works out in the end.

With the baddie supposedly gone now, I have no idea who the baddie at the end of the epilogue is. But I'm sure I know which dragon will be next. And I really look forward to it.
