Thank you Netgalley for sending this book to me. I am very very very late in reviewing this book but I've finally read it on my own time and thought I would review it now.

I thought the book was sweet, definitely a throwback to when YA Contemporary was starting to become something to book nerds of the 2000s. I liked the writing and thought the romance was sweet but generic. There were bittersweet moments and I liked them.

I apologize for the very late review.

I really enjoyed all of the books in this series, but this one was definitely my favourite of the three. I adore all of the 90s and early 2000s references in this series. They bring back so many memories. The characters are fun and I can't wait to read more books from this author.

This was such a cute lighthearted read!

I love the inclusion of sport within a book and I felt it helped Nicole grow as a character, from professional wall flower to cross country runner. I personally loved Nicole's growth from beginning to end. I also connected with her straight away.

Now I'm a sucker for a good love triangle, especially when it's done well. I have to admit I had mixed feelings about this triangle between Nicole, Chase and Neal. I think it's because I picked the type of guy Neal was from the get go and he is your classic trashy teenage boy. Whereas, I loved Chase from the very first encounter between Chase and Nicole.

There were times I was reading going 'aww this is the cutest thing ever', 'I never want to stop reading'. Then there were times I wanted to shake some sense into Nicole and was in anguish due to her thoughts on good old Neal.

Chase and Nicole's friend Amy were probably my two favourite characters, and because of that I wish there was more of Amy throughout the book. Not saying that Amy wasn't in the book a lot, but I loved her character so much I just wanted more.

Thank you very much to the Createspace Independent Publishing Platform for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Chasing Love is a fun Young Adult romance.

Chasse and Nicole bond over a runaway dog and a stolen sneaker. He's also her new co-worker, and her new assistant cross country coach.

With Chase's help, Nicole is no longer a wallflower, but her life gets crazy, with two boys after her.

The story is fun, flirty and has all the charm of a first kiss/boyfriend romance.

What a cute and sweet YA romance novel. I loved that it was set in 2003.
This was my first book by this author but I liked the writing style very much so it won't be the last.

Summary: Nicole Andrews has always like being on the outside of the in crowd but everything changes after a chance encounter with Chase Saunders.  Chase, a former classmate of Nicoles, convinces her to try out for the cross country team.  Nicole makes the team and she and Chase grow closer however Nicole is also noticed by cross country star Neal.  Can Nicole navigate her possible love life and her new role in high school?

Review: This book was cute and fluffy and that's about it.  Nicole and Chase's interactions were flirty and fun and kind of ran the course that you would expect.  Also, as expected is how Nicole's relationship with Neal played out.  Every plot point just kind of falls in line so there aren't any surprises.  Readers who are looking for a basic romance with the quirky 2000s angle will really enjoy this book however people who want a little more may want to look elsewhere.

#ChasingLove #NetGalley

publisher synopsis: Professional wallflower, Nicole Andrews, can’t wait to get out of Marlowe Junction. With only one year to go, she is eager to become the best college applicant at Rosemark High.
There’s only one problem, she still hasn’t found a niche to make her appear more well-rounded.

When a chance encounter with hottie-extraordinaire, Chase Saunders, pushes her in the direction of cross country, Nicole thinks she’s finally found her answer. If only she could focus on her race times, and stop getting distracted by Chase.

Will joining the team be enough to make Nicole stand out from the crowd? Or will she lose her heart in the process?

A throwback to the early 2000’s, Chasing Love will have you longing for the days when Blockbuster was the coolest job in town and varsity letters were prized possessions. Back to when Friday nights were made for football games and sleepovers with the friends you’d do anything for.

I liked a lot about this book. A lot! I liked how goal oriented the main character, Nicole, was. I liked that she was not a cheerleader or even popular. She was normal and she was ok with that. She had very real goals and struggles. She was trying to do cross-country for the activity for college, not to become popular. I like that she figured out the improper intentions of the not nice guy before getting in a bad position she couldn't get out of. I like how the mom supported her and helped her. It was a very refreshing book because it was realistic and positive. Great job Tirrell!!

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

3.5 stars.

Ordinarily, I'd probably give this book 4 stars. However, I just finished reading a more serious book that absolutely wrecked me, so . . . Sorry.

It's fun and cute. The ending is predictable, but honestly, I don't read this kind of book because I don't know how it will end--I read it because I DO know how it will end, and I just like to watch the characters get there.

Chase (19) was adorable. I liked Nicole (17) more as the book progressed and she started to figure herself out. This book had a strong female friendship (Nicole and Amy), which was refreshing. Despite how easy it would have been, the two didn't have any rivalry regarding boys or their place on the cross country team. Nicole's parents weren't in the book much, but I appreciated their relationship.

Note: Can't think of anything aside from some typos and a few redundancies, but I assume those will be cleaned up before the final publication.

This is a Super cute, super fun YA romance. The throwback to the days of video rental stores made it different than the norm. The characters were sweet and had endothelial to make the reader care about them. Fans of light YA romance with a HEA will adore this book.

***I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Kayla Tirrell.***

Chasing Love, by Kayla Tirrell, was super cute. High school senior Nicole wants to leave her small town behind and feels she needs to become more well-rounded for her college applications. Recent grad, new co-worker, and fellow runner Chase pushes her in the direction of cross country. Little does she know that he’s also an assistant coach for the team. Nichole has to learn the ins and outs of being part of a team, and figure out who to give her heart to.

This story takes place in the early 2000s. in a time where Blockbuster still existed, and the throwback was lovely and nostalgic. Nicole is quiet and has only one close friend, so moving beyond her comfort zone and trying something different is new for her. It also provided a great opportunity for growth, as did the mistake she makes at work. She kind of needed it as I found her to be immature at times. I really liked Chase. I especially liked that he wasn’t super smooth when it came to talking to Nicole. It made him way easier to relate to. His somewhat mixed signals also left natural room for one of the other runners on the team to take an interest in Nicole. I really liked that it didn’t feel like a love triangle, rather as though Nichole was figuring out what she wanted and needed. And I have to give a shout out to Amy, Nicole’s bff. She supported her friend by going out for cross county, giving it her all and really coming into her own.

The writing was solid. There were a couple of things that kept me from rating the story higher. One, I wish Chase’s decision to fight for Nicole had been better explained, as seemingly nothing had changed. I also wish there’d been a bit more character growth. And lastly, for me, the story was a bit lacking in big swoons and witty dialogue, which kept me from falling in love with the characters.

Over all, it was a fast, enjoyable read that fans of YA or romance will enjoy.

This one had me at blockbuster and AIM. What a fun romantic read set back in the early 2000s. Cute romantic read with a lot of charm and excellent defences to the recent past. Realistic character and relationships. Liked that the story and will recommend this to my students who are looking for an appropriate for high schoolers to read.

Chasing Love by Kayla Tirrell is the 3rd book in the Mountain Creek Drive young adult series. I really enjoyed this book which takes place in the early 2000's . Nicole Andrews is a senior in high school, who runs into Chase, while chasing her dog. Chase graduated last year and is attending the local college. Chase talks her into trying out for the track team because she runs so fast. Nicole and Chase also end up working together at Blockbuster. Nicole who has never dated, now has two hotties after her. I recommend this book for a fun young adult romance novel, which takes place almost 20 years ago.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Well hell, this was so cute!
I loved that this story was set in 2003, back in the good old days when video stores still existed and cell phones were barely used. This gave me major flashbacks to my own youth and it was so refreshing!

Nicole is a bit of a wallflower and a senior at Rosemark High. She works at a video store and likes to go running with her dog during her spare time. She feels like she doesn't really belong anywhere, until one day she encounters Chase, one of last year's most popular seniors. He gives her the idea to try out for the school's track team, of which he is the assistant coach. And what starts out as something that would look good on her college applications, quickly turns into something more!

I could totally recognize my younger self in Nicole, and maybe that's why I had such a blast reading this! She's very self-conscious, insecure and doesn't have a lot of friends. She has incredible character development throughout this story though!

A little warning though: there is a love triangle here. I know not everyone likes those, and I personally don't either, but it didn't really bother me here because I had a clear favorite the entire time.

I haven't read the previous books in this series, which wasn't really necessary to understand everything, but now I really want to!
