I loved this book. It was unashamedly romantic with a storyline which was different from the norm. The characters were believable and I’d recommend this book to anyone wanting a light read.
This was a nice light read. The romance was good. Character development as well as plot was credible. Enjoyable. Alrewady posted review there.
I am loving the town of Castle Cove and all its inhabitants, to the extent that I'm wondering why on earth I didn't read Donna Ashcroft's first book.
This is a lovely feel good read, with a clear theme of second chances running through it - with Lily and Josh needing to give each other a second if not more chances, to get to know and trust each other, and also Lily has the opportunity to get to know her estranged mum too.
The title definitely doesn't lie as besides the second chances, and not just for Lily and Josh but other villagers too - there is a little teashop in the book, and its set in the run up to Christmas.
But yet given I have read lots of tea shop books and Christmas books, it is not overly themed towards either of them. They are setting and there is a lot of action in the teashop but its not your typical book that may make you hungry and it didn't make me feel festive either.
What I did feel was romance, there are many romantic threads woven into this lovely tale, and I really enjoyed reading all of them. Despite this being a standalone I do think that it may be best to read the previous book by the author, just to know more of the secondary characters back stories, as I felt there was hints but not enough for me to really know them properly.
What I did learn of the characters I really liked, and I just had a very enjoyable time whiling away a few hours reading this book. I would be interested in reading more from this author in the future.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
A frothy, fun and festive tale with occasional 'up close and personal' scenes! An enjoyable relaxing read although I was a little put off by the fact that main character Lily seems unable to speak up for herself without the support of Josh, personally I prefer reading about stronger, feisty female characters.
This is a great’easy read’ type of story. It took a long time to get into this book. I found some of the characters different to differentiate, getting confused as to who’s who. I felt that this should be one of a number in a series (and would therefore explain the different characters from the start). From the start you very much know what’s going to happen, which for an easy Christmas (or holiday) read is perfect. To be fair, this is the first of Donna Ashcroft’s books I have read and I’d like to read ‘Summer at the Castle Café’ and then come back to re-read this. Thank you.
The Little Christmas Teashop of Second Chances is about twenty-five year old Lily King who's recently been in a rut. She loves her job at the Teashop but really wants to be a chef. Her boyfriend just dumped her and on top of that she got a letter from her mother, who abandoned her at two years old, wants to be in contact with her again.
When her best friend Emily needs help organising her Christmas wedding, she meets Josh, a handsome photographer. They're both completely different but maybe, just maybe they can make it work together.
This book was a solid 4 stars for me.
I really enjoyed this book, the pace was perfect, not too slow and not too fast. The minute I started reading this book I just felt happy and excited, especially since I love Christmas.
Castle Cove's description made me want to live there, it just seems like a beautiful and peaceful place to be.
Now let's talk about the characters:
Lily, where do I start? If I'm honest I'm exactly like Lily which made this book great for me. I rarely say no or argue when people try to make decisions for me. In this book we got to see her progress and see her stand up for herself when everyone around her has opinions of how she should live her life.
Not to mention Josh, the supposedly cold-hearted photographer, who brought out her wild side and fell in love with Lily along the way.
Lily's family was just so heartwarming, I rarely read about a single father raising two sons and a daughter but he did a good job.
Overall if you're looking for a feel good, christmassy romance I would definitely recommend this.
I already fell in love with this Christmas-spirited book when seeing the cover and reading the title. I hoped for a nice romance story with likeable characters in a setting, which can get you in the mood for christmas.
The book fulfilled all of my exspectations and I really enjoyed reading it.
The protagonist Lily is described very well and I personally love the change of her character from the plain, shy girl trying to be good enough for everbody to the woman, who knows what she wants and pursuits her dreams.
The love story is also nice to read, of course it's not exactly something completely extraordinary but all readers who like romances will definitely love the book.
Loved this book.
The story of Lily and Josh. Lily seems to spend her time trying to please everyone. Josh only wants to please himself. They are pushed together when they agree to help out arrange the wedding of Lily's friend to Josh's brother.
Loved it I was hooked from the start read it in one sitting. Will defiantly be reading more by this author in the future
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and couldn't wait to read the second especially as it was based around Christmas. Perfect book to read around a log fire and to dream of Christmas and friendship and romance and finding out who you really are. So heartwarning and perfect for Christmas. Really enjoyed the follow on and didn't want to put it down has you hooked very quickly and an easy read.
Lily is lost her way in her life she works at the castle tea shop and loves it but dreams of being a chef but can see it slipping through her fingers. Her best friend is getting married but is stuck away so she's asked lily to prepare the wonderful day and age feels it's her chance to shine. But the grooms brother is a also asked to help organise it so when she is thrown together with Josh how will things go. Also lily hasn't heard from her mother for years but she gets a surprise letter from her and she meets up with her. Is her mother who she thinks she is or not and has she made a mistake contacting her or not. Can lily and josh find romance or are they just to opposite great Christmas read.
A very fun, funky, quirky series...definitely worth the read!
My review has been posted to my blog & Goodreads.

Thank you! :c)
yLily wants to be a chef, but truthfully her food is totally uninspired - kind of repressed, the same as she. Then girl (Lily) meets boy ( Josh) and everything changes, but very slowly....Josh and Lily meet over helping a couple get everything ready for their wedding as the bridal coupe is stuck in Nepal. While Josh seems to be pretty carefree and for heaven's sake doesn't even wear a watch,, Lily is much more of a stickler for promptness and doing things right. Josh, being a photographer,, takes pictures of anything and everything although he "doesn't do people". Lily continues to work on the food she is going to prepare for the head chef in her quest for a job in his kitchen. But then Josh does take some pictures of people that end up in a showing he is having. Lily is shocked as is her family and she decides she no longer needs Josh in her life although she is pretty sure that she loves him. As the tangled relationship becomes untangled, one can feel the love in the air! A delightful romance everyone will enjoy..
I absolutely adored this book, it was such a lovely story to read and it certainly made me feel all warm and cosy!
I warmed to Lily immediately, she is a superb character, really well developed and I loved her personality and how it developed as the book progressed, and oh my goodness Josh sounded very lovely too!! They made a brilliant pairing as the lead characters for the story.
It is well paced, and has a completely addictive plot and Castle Cove as the setting for the book is perfect. This is my second full length novel so far from the ones released in time for Christmas 2018 and I know now that this is already going to be up there with my favourites for the year!
It is a delightful read and one I would say that can really be read at anytime as it doesn't contain that much Christmas (and I can say that as I read it over the August Bank Holiday)!
Five stars from me, very highly recommended and a complete treat to read!!
It’s nearly Christmas at the Castle Teashop, but Lily King is feeling far from jolly after the painful ending of her love affair. Help arrives when friend Emily asks for help planning her Christmas wedding, giving Lily the chance to shine as she helps prepare for the big day. Throw in a cute and rather shy photographer named Josh and Lily may have the chance to repair not just her professional life, but her personal one as well. This is a fun, feel good story, perfect for taking away the stress of modern living
