I’m a huge fan of this author and am making my way through all of their books. I really like this authors writing style and the romances in their books. I really like all the thrilling and mysterious aspects of these books. I can’t wait to continue to read more by this author.

Ms. Burton spins a wild, thrilling romantic suspense story in this third book of her Criminal Profiler series. The book was more suspense than romance, but it did show good chemistry between the main characters. There were moments where I thought these two frustrated each other and then times where the flirting was top notch, yet every interaction between them built chemistry.

Faith and Mitchell have lots of persistence and integrity when it comes to the case they're working on and I liked how determined they are to solve it since the victims and their families deserve justice. Both the hero and heroine have emotional back stories and I could understand their hesitation for getting close to each other. The arrangement they have at the moment works for them but it's obvious both are starting to get more involved. Feelings are starting to get stronger.

Overall, this was a good book filled with a few twists and turns. Some I saw coming and others I didn't. The ending had me on the edge of my seat with worry for one of the main characters but I enjoyed that the truth was finally exposed and the main characters got the answers they were looking for and solved the case. Furthermore, the epilogue wrapped this story up nicely and I can't wait to read more of this series.

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

Cut and run is a mystery suspense novel from Mary Burton with a touch of romance throw in for good measure. I could never describe this as a romance novel as that aspect of the book is no where near the main plot of this book. If romance is your bag, and you need to be front and center in your reading then this book is not for you.

What Cut and Run did provide was an entertaining and at times dark mystery. I enjoyed the storyline, especially as it focused so keenly on the female characters. There was a twist or two and the premise was deeply disturbing but this book provided very few surprises and whilst I enjoyed reading it, I never found myself gripped.

The characters were well constructed and believable. Faith was a good lead character full of energy and intelligence and Hayden made a good partner to her. Faith's story was a lot more fleshed out then anyone else's which was fine. There were (as is so often the case in this genre) to many POV. I didn't need one solo chapter from the point of view of the barmaid who is soon dispatched, of the inner thoughts of a woman in a coma. These short chapters added very little to the narrative and served as more of a distraction than anything else.

I hope to read more Mary Burton in the future in the hopes of coming across more great female characters in a genre where the men often take the leading role and save the day.

I love Mary Burton's books and this was no exception. It held my attention from start to finish. An FBI agent run down deliberately turns out to have the face of the Medical Examiner Dr. Faith McIntyre and a whole convoluted and brilliant plot goes from there. Texas Ranger Hayden is on the case with the help of Faith, and the twists and turns keep you guessing to the end. Ms Burton is never afraid to describe a murder scene but does it in such a way that while you are affected by the horror of it, it still makes you want to carry on and devour the rest of the story. Hopefully there wlll be another book in the future about FBI Agent Macy Crow and the Texas Rangers. Loved this book.

I am totally entertained by the story but I'm not sure if it's a part of a series because it feels like it sometimes. The mystery is good, though not the type that will keep you guessing. Nevertheless, it's still impressive. I also appreciate the bit of romance mixed in with mystery. It's my first book from the author and definitely won't be the last.

I’m fairly new to the romantic suspense genre, a fact that still amazes me because it has the two things that I love reading about, romance and a thrilling case to solve. And Mary Burton’s CUT AND RUN ticks all my favorites boxes that I just mentioned. A sexy romance that slowly but surely builds? Check. A murder case that interests and begs you to dig it deeper? Check. So you see, I easily read through this one.

The two main characters, Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden and medical examiner Faith McIntyre, I liked instantly. This was important because with all the action they were going to experience, I thought perhaps I’d have little time to get to know them. Now, we didn’t delve *too* deep, but deep enough that I knew who they were, what they were feeling and all that they were going through and what they were thinking, so it was more than enough. They were both very strong characters, had a good thing going and they actually made a great couple in solving crime. I liked Faith’s determination in helping people, and her own self worth. Ranger Hayden was an intriguing man, a man of few words, was good at his job and not once had he lost an ounce of respect for Faith.

The case that these two people found themselves smack in the middle of was interesting. While there was romance in this story, it was well balanced with the mystery of the case itself so I never lost focus. I was invested in the story from start to finish, and as much as I wanted Faith and Hayden to work things out personally, I also very much wanted to know who was responsible for the horrible things that were happening now and years before.

If you’re a fan of romantic suspense, I highly recommend this book. This was my second stand-alone from this author and I’ll be on the lookout for more Mary Burton books for sure. For some reason I believed this was going to be a series, it so far I haven’t seen any news to confirm this. The way the story progressed, I think it could go either way, so I’d be pleased to revisit characters.

An enjoyable read with suspense filled twists and turns. Well written and the characters had some real depth. It was a little predictable at times and I found the ending was very abrupt leaving, without a satisfying sense of closure. Overall this is a great book by an incredibly talented author.

Mary Burton is an author that I enjoy, knowing that her romantic suspense will draw me in with a great story and great characters. This one does not disappoint. When Texas Ranger, Mitchell Hayden finds the body of one of his informants, he knows the man has been tortured. Faith McIntyre is the active medical examiner on the case and after her examination she tries to make contact with the victim’s daughter, Macy Crow. Macy, an FBI agent, heads to Texas from Quantico. What she finds at her father's home has her running her own investigation. When Macy starts asking questions, she ends up on the radar of a hitman, who runs her down and leaves her for dead. When Hayden shows up at the scene of the accident, he finds the injured woman who looks exactly like Faith, the woman he has an odd relationship with. What is going on? Who has tried to kill Faith's lookalike? Is Faith in danger?

Cut and Run is a romantic suspense story as well as a thriller, with action that starts right from the first page and does not let up. The story is told from a few different POVs with Hunter and Faith being the main ones, but a host of secondary characters as well. Faith is the medical examiner who worked on the first body. She was smart and dedicated to her job, finding answers for the victims and their families. She was someone who helps others, demonstrated by her work with the homeless young women, often putting herself in danger. Macy is very similar to Faith, but due to the accident, has a small role in this story. I hope she may have stories of her own in future books. Texas Ranger Hayden was good at his job and worked really well with Faith. He has some baggage from his past, and it was nice to see him try to move on from his tragedy. The story is well-paced with secrets from the past mixing in with the action in the present. There are some clues and crimes that tie this story together with some very despicable characters perpetrating some evil deeds. I finished this book in one day as I eagerly used every spare moment to find out what was going to happen. The final twist came as a surprise, but it was fitting and well written.. I recommend this book to those who enjoy thrillers and romantic suspense.

Good twists and turns and well written characters. I was a bit surprised at the ending. It seemed to finish a bit abruptly and wasn't too well wrapped up. But that's a minor gripe in the grand scheme of things. I've not come across Mary Burton before but she's a name I'll be looking out for now.

An enjoyable read with suspense filled twists and turns. Well written and the characters had some real depth. I know there will be a lot of readers out there that won't agree but I found it was a tiny bit predictable in spots. The ending was also very abrupt leaving me wanting more. Overall this is a great book by an incredibly talented author. I'd recommend to lovers of suspense thrillers.

I'm not sure where the CUT AND RUN came from for this title but the book is excellent! Of course, most Mary Burton books are an excellent read. She builds a backstory and enough character into her stories that she uses it to build suspense that keeps you turning pages.
There are several different stories moving through this book. Enough to keep your interest but not so many that you can't easily keep track. The storyline spans several decades but keeps the same cast of characters throughout. Ms Burton uses this to keep her story moving and interesting.
The main character finds she has a twin sister that she nothing about. She was adopted when born and has been trying to track her birth parents but did not expect to find siblings. Sounds familiar, well that's where you'd be wrong. It's a great twist to a familiar mystery plot that is a characteristic of Mary Burton books. If you're a fan, you'll need to add this one to your collection. If you've never read any Mary Burton books, this is a great place to start.
