I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The beautiful pictures in this book really add to the story. Short text that flows well. The book explores nature. A good read aloud for kids.

Love, love, love this sweet story with the most darling illustrations about the circle of life, featuring Mrs. Badger, the tiny kitty Lulu and their friends on the path to Sugarloaf Peak. Another winner for Princeton Architectural Press, which earned a deserved starred review from Publishers Weekly.

Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine. Pub Date 02 Oct 2018. #UpTheMountainPath.

A sweet story of how time changes traditions and routines. I loved this sweet story by Dubuc. The two have always wanted the mountain path together but as time passes the way they go about their journey changes some.

This is absolutely adorable - an older badger agrees to take a kitten up the winding mountain path with her, showing her all the neat things and nice folks along the way. The two travel together until the badger can no longer adventure up the path, but the kitten is able to continue the tradition. The illustrations are very sweet.

A lovely, and a bit sad book. Sad if you’re an adult and now what is happening to Mrs. Badger. Every week Mrs. Badger hikes Sugarloaf Peak. She sees friends, collects treasures, etc. One day a little kitten becomes a new friend and traveling companion. Until Mrs. Badger can no longer make the trip. Now it is up to Kitten to continue the path alone, discovering things for herself, and making new friends. The story is not just that of friendship, but of trying new things, and sharing your wisdom. A tale that is timeless, and says with children once read.

This is a beautiful story about the circle of life, friendship, learning from elders, and enjoying life and nature. Each Sunday Mrs Badger walks up to the top of the mountain, a place where she can sit and see the world, Along the way she makes friends with various animals and helps when she can. One day, Leo the cat spots Mrs Badger, and, even though he is afraid and doesn't think he can make it, Mrs. Badger helps him reach the top. The journey repeats itself every Sunday, until Mrs. Badger is too tired and can't make it anymore. When Lulu heads up the mountain alone, she brings back items and stories to Mrs. Badger. Eventually, she meets a reluctant friend and the tradition continues.

Dubuc's story is simple, poetic and told through illustrations and text. I love the depictions of the mountain, nature and the panorama they see at the top of the mountain. This is a great story about life, encouraging one another, taking the first step, and so much more. A story for families everywhere. The publisher, Princeton Architectural Press, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

Such a heartwarming book. I love adventures and hiking and finding new places or new things in places I have been before. This book embraces the little things as well as bigger concepts like friendship, encouragement, and passing of the torch and traditions. For being so simply put together the book said so much. We follow a simple tale about Mrs. Badger walking up the mountain everyday. She is joined by Lulu who learns all about the mountain from Mrs. Badger and so much more. The illustrations are gorgeous, pastel colored with such wonderful detail. Some pages are full images some are just smaller ones that build the concepts. All are wonderfully done and right where you want/need them.

This is a beautiful children's book and I highly recommend it. I will actually be sharing this title with some parents that I know for their young ones - I really adored it.

Ummmm! Like a summer morning! I love this little tale of a badger and a kitten climbing up a mountain and exploring and finding cool memories. I think it's nice to share a special place in nature with young kids- camping, hiking, stream walking.... Even the same place can hold new discoveries over many years. new paths, different seasons, new to you wildlife... Such a peaceful, sharing book, one to read to a little one before exploring. Loved the illustrations. Just so soft and warm!

This is such a wise and wonderful book. The illustrations are perfect for the story. It's about the sharing and passing on of wisdom and kindness and thoughtfulness. I would consider this a must-have book for a library. It would be a perfect baby gift, as well.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Princeton Architectural Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is an adorable children's book. I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a simple tale, but shows caring, sharing the path and helping others. At first Mrs. Badger helps Lulu, but then after some time the roles are reversed and Lulu must help Mrs. Badger. Nicely done! Good fun book. I rate this 4.5 stars.

A beautiful little book about the circle of life.
Every Sunday, Mrs. Badger takes a hike up the mountain path. She helps her friends along the way when needed and shares with them her finds and discoveries. One day Mrs. Badger meets Lulu the cat and invites her to come along for the journey. She teaches Lulu everything she knows about nature and the importance of helping others.
Loved the simplicity of the illustrations and how it all flows together. I will be adding this one to my shelf.

Thank you Net Galley and Princeton Architectural Press for the advance copy!

Up the Mountain Path is a charming little story that gently teaches the love of nature and the cycles of life. We follow old Mrs. Badger as she makes her weekly trek up to the top of Sugarloaf Peak. Along the way, she greets her friends, admires the natural beauty and is always thinking of others.

One week, Mrs. Badger notices a young cat, Lulu, is following her progress. Mrs. Badger invites Lulu to join her, and the two make the journey together. Week after week the two make the trip up the mountain, and Mrs. Badger teaches Lulu how to listen and help and soak in the beauty. Eventually, Mrs. Badger can no longer make the trip and Lulu starts going alone and bringing souvenirs of her trip back for Mrs. Badger to enjoy. Until one day when Lulu notices a young rabbit is following her progress. And so the cycle continues.

The illustrations are sweet and the story can be read with an emphasis on several different aspects (the love of nature, the cycle of life, enjoying the journey, etc.). This is sure to be a favourite for some little ones. I've enjoyed it enough that I plan to also get a copy in the original French to add to my personal collection.

4 very sweet stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Princeton Architectural Press for providing me with a DRC of this book.
