This series finale captures everything that Darynda Jones’s beloved character has become. It is funny, dingy, brave, and has big heart. Grab a mocha latte and get ready for the epic battle for peace and love in Charley Davidson style.

I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest and voluntary review. I was in no way compensated for this review.

Summoned to Thirteenth Grave brings a conclusion to Darynda Jones’ New York Times bestselling Charley Davidson series and it was without a doubt one of the most fantastic thrill rides ever! Every adventure with Charley and Co. has been astounding and entertaining and with Reyes tagging along, super smexy and just wow! Wow. Wow. Wow!!

What I love about this series is how we pick up right where we left off, and naturally, we pick up to find Charley in a place of darkness, a void, if you will. It’s a punishment for bringing Amber back to life, something she was told not to do, but did anyway, because she’s Charley. And then suddenly Charley is back. She counted the days, hours, minutes, and seconds she was gone and discovered that her eternal exile only lasted over one hundred years. She’s not sure why she was brought back or the hows, she’s just glad to be back.

We quickly find out Charley has only been gone for ten days on Earth. But a lot has changed in those ten days. A black demon hole that she dubbed The Shade is slowly taking over Albuquerque, and it’s infecting people around it. It’s an utter pit of chaos, to say the least. But what would a Charley Davidson book be without a little mystery that needs solving as well. Charley and her cohorts find themselves trying to help the ghost of a little boy find his missing family and learn a few other things along the way as well.

This book was just full of surprises! There were so many that kept having me drop my jaw because they were like whoa!! Things I seriously didn’t see coming at all! I love that this series can continue to surprise me until its very end! And what an ending that was, but more on that in a minute!

Like with all Charley books you can go into this one expecting an engaging mystery, ghosts galore, twisted humor that is truly Charley in all walks of life, and of course stolen smoldering moments between her and her husband, Reyes Farrow. Amid all the chaos that surrounds Charley and her friends, there’s still the pressing matter of the war that is to come that her daughter will have to fight. Charley continues to have visions of that fateful day and sees things that are rather key to her daughter’s future.

I absolutely positively loved this book to pieces! It was without a doubt one of the greatest installments ever! I loved how we got see how the main characters that we’ve mingled with over the years. It was like one great big sendoff for readers as this book does end the series, tragic as it might be. And Darynda isn’t through with dropping a few jaw-dropping surprises our way! My mind is still reeling from all the shocks and surprises, not to mention that ending!!

And whoa, what an ending it was! While things end pretty solidly and you can almost imagine what will happen next, Darynda throws a legendary curveball at us that totally shocked the you-know-what out of me! It was one I didn’t see coming and I am still scrambling to figure out what it could mean! Not just what it might lead to, but the meaning behind this shocking event! This is always the downside to reading something early!

The Charley Davidson series was one of the greatest series I ever read! With mystery, mayhem, murder, romance and a heavy dose of snark and sarcasm, this series truly had everything a paranormal girl like myself could ever want! Summoned to Thirteenth Grave is our goodbye to Charley and everyone else, but I am hoping it’s not as final as we might think! This is a series I would recommend again and again to every loving and needing a good paranormal series in their life! Charley Davidson has got it all!

Charley made a decision in the last novel that opened up a portal and allowed the Shades to arrive. They are slowly taking over Albuquerque and if they don't figure out how to close it, all is lost. Charley has a few clues that she and Reyes have to quickly unravel. Meanwhile she also has to come up with a way to keep their daughter Beep safe until it is her time. Fast paced with signature snark makes this last novel in the series thoroughly enjoyable. Here's hoping that a spin-off series is in the making.

Firstly, I am so sad this is the last Charley/Reyes/Grave book. I have loved them for years and will always want more. But that ending left it open for a spin off, so I guess I'll survive.

We get back to Charley when she is brought back to Earth after spending over 100 yrs exiled for bring Amber back to life. I do wish I had re-read the 12th just to get a grasp of all that happened. But most of the things were reexplained. I think there was only one person I couldn't place.

Anyway, when the god glass broke it left a portal to the hell dimension and all 'hell' is breaking loose in New Mexico.

We get the hot steamy Reyes/Charley scenes. We get the whit and humor we have grown to love, we get our favorite characters interacting with each other and of course a few spirits to solve.

While I would have LOVED to have had this book twice as long with a bit more depth of the situation as some things did feel rushed, I still hold out hope for a spin off.

Summoned to the Thirteenth Grave by Darynda Jones a heart-melting five-star read. This is the thirteenth and final novel in the Charley Davidson series and I can honestly say I haven’t laughed as hard or cried as hard in any of the previous novels in the series. Mrs. Charley Davidson is such a crazy brilliant character, of all of the books I have read she is the one character I would love to be real, she embodies the c word in the best way possible. What I enjoyed about this book was the background characters that we have met before and catching up with them, hearing some more of their stories, checking in with Mr Wong made my heart palpate, and Gemma Vi Davidson I can honestly say that she wasn’t someone I wanted to know more about, but in this novel, she had me alternating between wanting to shake her and hug her so tight I would never let go, making me cry real actual tears at one point. I was so sad to hear that this novel was the last one in the series, but I’m glad that it went out on a literal bang, I adored the ending and can only hope that although this is the end of this series that Beep may get her own, after all she gets her own army. Thank you Darynda Jones for Bringing Charley and Reyes into our lives.

How do I begin to write a review for this bittersweet final book ? It's been a series I've really enjoyed and I love that the author decided to end it on episode thirteen as somehow that is just so fitting. These characters have gone through so much and recently I've been more than a little upset that Charley and Reyes cannot be with their daughter Beep and I was so hoping that this book would change all that. Still this power couple just keep going fighting demons, drinking coffee, helping the dead and generally saving the world. Oh but that unfortunately is exactly what they need to do here but how do they defeat something that is pretty much going to mean the end of the world ? Too bad Reyes big brother isn't around but luckily Charley is home although she's not exactly sure how or why she's where she wants to be. No time for analysis though except there are those who have been watching and they are a lot closer than she thought !
I began this feeling hopeful and honestly felt my heart start to sink as the story progressed. Something I kind of guessed but still this author twisted the knife. You will smile and be elated, you will feel a creeping melancholy but most of all you will want to go back to the beginning and read this wonderful series all over again because it's ends exactly as it should but my lips are sealed !

With more unexpected twists, this final volume to the series was a fitting conclusion. This author has an evil habit of finishing one of her books with a deep hunger for the next one. Thirteenth Grave is no exception. I hope a follow up series featuring Beep is swiftlyin the making. One of my all time favourite series. Would be fantastic as a TV show.

The conclusion to this epic series was everything I wanted it to be and more. I loved it! Charley and Reyes are one of my favorite couples and this series never got old for me. I devoured this last book the same way I devoured the first book. The series has humor, mystery, danger, great characters and an epic romance. If you haven’t read the series I highly recommend it for paranormal romance and mystery lovers. I’m sad this series is over, but I’m excited for the spin-off series featuring Charley’s daughter. I’ll be grabbing it as soon as I can get my hands on it. Darynda Jones created a unique world of characters I love and will revisit again and again.

Ok, so you could call my feelings about wanting to read this book "bittersweet". I could not wait to revisit and hang out with Charley, Reyes, and the rest of the gang but at the same time I was not ready to say good bye to them either. Luckily, this book did keep up with my expectations and ended on a good note. Although, I hope that Mrs. Jones did revisit this series in a way with Beep as the lead character. I think there is more that us readers have yet to discover in Beep and what abilities she inherited from her parents.

As this is the final book it is only appropriate that the final showdown be a family affair "literally". Charley and Reyes forever. They are one of my favorite couples. It was great seeing every one again as well. I learned more about where Charley came from and who she got her sense of humor from. While, this is the last book there is still plenty of humor to be found as well. Fans of this series will be happy with this book. Thirteen may be considered "unlucky" but the only ones "unlucky" are the readers who don't pick up a copy of this book.

I’m so sad to see this series end. The final installment has everything I’ve come to expect from this author: gasp-worthy drama, laugh-out-loud humor, smoldering sexy times, and God-awful heartbreak. Charley and friends have been so beautifully written throughout the series, and this book is no exception. This is a fitting end to what has been one of my favorite series.

I've been here from book one until this last time and honestly have enjoyed every minute of it! I'm so glad I got to see the characters grow to see who they became and I'm so glad that this author made this character and this universe in this series .I can't wait to see what else is to come but whatever it will be, it was amazing for this ride and I can't wait for the next one!

This is the ending of Reyes and Charley. What a great conclusion. I laughed, cried, laughed, and cried some more. Ms. Jones gave closure to most characters. Most were satisfactory. Of course I wanted more, more, more. Hopefully we'll see Beep's story. There was a little cliff hanger at the end. I can't wait to see what else will happen. Charley and Reyes' story is done. The wrap up of the story arc had its ups and downs. An action packed battle for closing the hell dimension began when Charley is released from banishment. Left hanging til the end to find out why she got released, a storyline from today's headlines included here really had no value except to extend the book, an old tv shows storyline was the death of a character, her mom's story seemed rushed and incomplete, the death of another character casually dropped out there I would guess as a tie everyone one up we cared about. It seemed everyone at the end was just left hanging when Charley and Reyes decided what to do for Beep. These were some of the downs. Included in that was the ending. Not what I expected from our snarky girl, but okay. Lots of fun snark that was great comic relief. Some fun surprises and one cranky arc angel that was all right in the end. Cliffhanger, and Beep will get a story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.

I was both sad and elated when I finished SUMMONED TO THIRTEENTH GRAVE.

Charley's humor is alive and well in the final installment of the Charley Davidson series. I love how she looks at the world and the humor she brings to every situation. I re-read FIRST GRAVE before jumping into book 13 and I was both amazed at how far she has come, yet how unchanged Charley is. She has held onto herself through SO much yet grown with every situation.

Charley and Reyes are one of my favorite UF couples. They just 'get' each bother and I love their interactions. I'm a mom, so the whole having to give Beep to someone else to raise really killed me and I wish that it didn't have to be like that cause they would have been phenomenal parents.

There was some big revelations in book 13. Revelations I never would have guessed. It's amazing how things are connected and who turns out to be more than we thought they would be. Beep has a really fantastic army behind her.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the ending of SUMMONED TO THIRTEENTH GRAVE. On one hand it makes total sense, on the other, it makes me sad and I really wanted there to be more to it. I still have a ton of questions and want to see more of Charley, Reyes and the rest of the gang. I really hope Beeps story isn't too far off and I'm excited to see how certain people turn out and how the story evolves with a different POV.

This really is a bittersweet ending for a most beloved series of mine! All the aspects that make Charlie Daniels such a fabulous and favorite character are here in spades... her warmth, her caring and especially her sense of humor that keeps a reader thoroughly entertained and chuckling even in the most dire of plot circumstances.

Because it is the last in the series, Ms. Jones did an exceptional job of tying off all the threads for secondary characters. We learn and see satisfying (although occasionally sad) endings for everyone from Rocket and Blue to Gemma and Uncle Bob. We even get to learn more and meet Charlie’s mom! Because of this, however, there wasn’t a lot of time left to allow much depth of character or storyline within the book. I don’t think I’m complaining, I would much rather know how things work out with those we have come to love than leave some plot lines hanging - it’s just the story wasn’t as moving and deep as others in the series have been.

I do have mixed emotions about the ending for Charlie and Reyes. On the one hand, I totally understand and appreciate the way the author ended it. It was a good and logical way to both close the door on their story, yet allow for another series to possibly spin off. It left me somewhat sad and disappointed, however. See? Good way to end but sad it had to. I guess that kind of sums up not only Charlie’s storyline but the entire finale.

I just hope we get to continue with Osh, Beep and the rest in a future series! Now, THAT would make everything better!!

Very good book and series! Is it ending though? Seemed like there could be another book! Could be wishful feelings by me! I highly recommend this author.

This is it, the final book in this series. And how fitting that it's the number thirteen. I'm sad that it's going to be the last one but at the same time I'm glad that we got our big ending. I think we've all been waiting a long time for that to happen, since the previous book ended on such a huge cliffhanger. And to be honest, this book ends more on a HFN than a HEA, since there's still the big battle that Beep has to fight agains Lucifer. I've read somewhere, so this info might not be 100% accurate, that we'll get a spin off for Beep's story. I hope that's true, since I'm in love with this series and would love to continue reading about such fantastic characters. Especially since we don't know what happened to Osh. So I think the author is hinting at the new spin off with that little clue.

And about what happens in this book...well...I'm not giving away any big spoilers so you'll just have to read the book to find out for yourself. But it's safe to say that this time all that could go wrong, goes wrong. And disastrously so. As in all hell is breaking loose and in the literal sense at that. Can't say I'm surprised by that, since that happens to me on a daily basis once I leave home and my cats can have the time of their lives destroying the house.

As for Charley and Reyes, I mean, they can't do any wrong in my opinion. Even if they accidentally almost destroy the whole world, no biggie. After being gone from the earthly plain for what felt like an eternity Charley had to live a little, right? And also, this might be the book where we get to see the couple spend most of their time together. Can't tell you how much I loved that. They are one of my all time favourite couples, their relationship is always so funny and something I someday wish to have with my loved one. Not to mention all the sexy scenes we get in this book. Aside from that, it felt so good to get the whole gang back together, the whole big family reuniting once again for this big battle. I mean, what more could one want from this series conclusion, right? Well, there were some pretty big plot twist and revelations and even deaths that left me completely stunned. I think it was Rocket's secret that had shocked me the most, like who knew? I was so happy and at the same time so sad for him. I wished someone would give him a big hug.

All in all, this is a bitterweeet ending of a great series and this book is a must read for all Charley and Reyes fans!

It is hard to review this book without a spoiler. I knew going into this, it was the last of this series. The signature snark and steam are there, along with the regular workings of serial killers, legacy evil and of course the end of the world, all typical of a Charley book. However, this is the last, so there are a few twists and turns that are unexpected, but the end is ..... well, you will just have to read the book to find out. Charley, your snark, humor and idioms will be missed.

It is so very hard to review perfection isn't it?

I mean where do you even begin, and let's face it, this series has been pretty much that, from the very beginning. And while this has been such a bittersweet experience, it has also been one I won't soon forget.

I adore these characters and while they aren't my babies like they are Ms. Jones, they are still, well, family to me. I love them, I care for them, and I will miss them like crazy.

Reading this book has not only pushed me past my emotional limits but has tested them as well. So many feels.

It started with simply both wanting to devour and savor the experience of it. Heartbreak at knowing this was it for Charley and Reyes and all these amazing characters and yet, also knowing that I had to get through it, because I couldn't wait to see what happened. Couldn't wait to be immersed back into their world.

So with a heart both beating fast to know what would happen and slowly breaking at realizing this was it, I soldiered on and dove straight in, head (and heart) first.

And oh what an experience! I relished it, I devoured it. I soaked it up and in and...it was amazing. Everything I was use to, everything I never thought it could be and everything I knew it could.

The classic Charley humor, the love, the cases, the discoveries, the revelations. The loses, the bemoaning. Just so very much.

I loved it and the ending, while perfect, also left me wanting more. That spin-off series, oh man, it better get here soon.

All in all, that word again, perfection.

Well done Ms. Jones, well done.
